Everyone seems to agree we need a striker that offers something different to Wes, for options. Quick, get in behind type, Vardyesque. Not he'd have to keep doing it from now until Jan but, Hepburn Murphys Hat-trick for Tranmere was sublime, he showed a bit of everything and the second finish was brilliant for a young lad.

If we can't find what we want and he's still in good form, I'd love to see him given a go.

1.) 04 Nov 2019 16:15:41
Me too chris, that`s what our academy is for.
He is not a one trick pony, and offers variety, good shout.

21 Oct 2019 17:46:04
Eze from QPR in January would be a brilliant signing, get in quick because the lads price is going up weekly.

1.) 24 Oct 2019 07:24:59
Just to add, Jarod Bowen, goals and assists tally in the championship the last 3 years has been ridiculous. Rumours are he’s a villa fan, he’s admitted that his dad is, now for me if your old man supports someone then there’s a good chance that you do. His contract is up end of the season so won’t be stupid money. Him and Eze would add proper competition for attacking places and make our bench much better if we need attacking subs to change a game!

2.) 24 Oct 2019 09:47:15
Bowen would be great.

07 Aug 2019 12:33:30
Rodrigo link got any weight behind it or made up?

12 Jul 2019 07:54:24
Are we about to see another Wesley type signing where no ones knows it's coming until it's more or less done. Apparently a 15M fee with Man City has been agreed for Douglas Luiz. Some of you may remember they signed him last year but couldn't get him a work permit so he went out on loan to Girona, apparently work permit isn't an issue now, so we're bringing him in as the CDM. A bit annoying they've input a buy back option so if he's any good they'll take him back, but in Purslow and Dean we trust. Love how they are just destroying all the fake ITK's.

1.) 12 Jul 2019 09:07:27
Douglas Luiz bargain of the summer?
Apparently highly regarded by Pep so must be good.

2.) 12 Jul 2019 09:29:50
This a great signing did well in spanish league and pep rates him cb also in today aswell fee agreed for winger just need gk, n striker.

3.) 12 Jul 2019 10:24:15
Looks a good addition to be fair even though I know nothing about him really .

Guillem Balague the Spanish reporter says this guy is class and to be honest he know a thing or too about players .

Only disappointing thing is the buy back clause, but hey just shows how highly thought of he is by Man City.

11 Jul 2019 10:21:20
Konsa in, that's 2 players for every position along the back 4 now, brilliant work.

If they can follow this up with a keeper, defensive midfielder, winger and a striker I think we'd be set for a solid season.

My picks would be Butland, Phillips, Trezeguet or Harry Wilson and Maupay.

1.) 11 Jul 2019 10:57:11
According to BM Villa have persuaded Trezeguet‘s club to let him leave.
Another one on the way to Villa Park?

2.) 11 Jul 2019 11:05:58
But they’re all championship players.

3.) 11 Jul 2019 11:47:36
I have heard Villas offer for Trezeguet is £9.9m.

4.) 11 Jul 2019 12:16:04
Is that sour grapes because the Dingles didn’t get Konsa Vino? 🤷🏼‍♂️ Looking at YouTube of him there’s a hell of a lot of ‘Welcome to Wolves’ comments 🤔

5.) 11 Jul 2019 12:34:38
The dingles really are upset at the minute, can’t see why, it’s only a longer season with more games yet no signings for them, are Fosun bored? Have they realised the fan base they are trying to bring forward will always be stuck in the dark ages? Are the rumours they are trying to sell up true? Where’s the ground expansion? Where are the fans that will fill it? Tune in next time to find out.

6.) 11 Jul 2019 13:55:12
Where has the W 88
gone off our shirts?

7.) 11 Jul 2019 18:35:17
Dont be worried for what were doing worry bout your own team .

8.) 11 Jul 2019 20:43:42
Are these dingles still rocking up on our page!

Don’t worry fella form is temporary, class is permanent.

9.) 11 Jul 2019 21:48:41
Good question Moutinho, I too was wondering why a sponsor would be willing to offer a newly promoted team double what they were offering a team in Europe, then I remembered. the team in Europe is wolves and the newly promoted side is Aston Villa, so makes perfect sense.

Beaten by the better team tonight, but not embarrassed, gave it a decent go and showed we can defend with our backs to the wall. Few players have dropped off a bit, I hope it's just due to fixture congestion.

I also hope the club saying we won't be busy in January is just smoke and mirrors because we need more attacking wise off the bench, and Wesley needs competition. In my opinion we are a Striker and Winger away from being a comfortable Mid Table prem team.

1.) 04 Dec 2019 21:51:53
We need pace to bring off the bench for the last 20 minutes.

2.) 05 Dec 2019 07:05:11
I agree Tom, Jota offers 0 threat.

01 Dec 2019 19:13:30
Side note, who was it on here who said they've always thought grealish was average and actually called him "average jack" with his mates? Just wondering.

1.) 01 Dec 2019 19:47:04
It wasn`t me mate, but I will hold my hand up and say I have criticised him in the past.

Lets be honest, he has come on a bundle in the last 9 mths, and he is one serious player.

He sure makes us tick, that`s why I want someone like Jarrod Bowen who could take Jacks role on if he gets injured.

2.) 01 Dec 2019 20:24:30
On other days Jack wouldn't have taken that shot on or at least underhit it trying to pass it in which can frustrate.
I've always said though that his all around game that drags us up the pitch is what we miss when he's not there and our periods of domination against a team we always seem to be scared of showed that today.

3.) 01 Dec 2019 22:19:42
He has infuriated in the past because we know how good he can be, however more recently he has been phenomenal. Just wanted to know who was knocking him and almost enjoying the fact he had struggled after one poor game earlier in the season.

4.) 01 Dec 2019 23:33:08
Me Chris he was average at the start of the season but he is coming good now say it as I see it mate.

5.) 02 Dec 2019 08:29:49
You didn’t say that at the time though did you. You said he’s always been average and you have always referred to him as average jack. This should be a lesson in not coming on here after a poor result and talking impulsively.

6.) 02 Dec 2019 10:20:35
Chris I don't know what your problem is trying to belittle people with their opinions but it is quite bewildering to be honest. Jack had been average at the start of the season and I quote you "I agree with you Daz" When I said strip him of the captains armband to give him more freedom to express himself. Now the lad is coming good he is having a rich vein of form at the moment that can't be denied but he has to do this constantly maybe that is why he hasn't been selected for England yet don't you think?

7.) 02 Dec 2019 13:23:53
So is he still average jack?

8.) 02 Dec 2019 17:22:11
Wish "average'Wes was half as "average" as "average" Jack, he might hit the target occasionally, after all what do you expect for £22 mill. If we had a half decent striker on the bench I am sure Wes would be warming the bench by now. I'm pretty certain when we buy in January Wes will become a squad player.

9.) 02 Dec 2019 17:44:19
At the moment Chris he's playing well.

10.) 02 Dec 2019 20:28:42
Emmy point is daz next time he has a bad game don’t over react and start telling everyone how you always thought he was over hyped and you’ve always called him average jack.

11.) 02 Dec 2019 21:21:05
Chris it's called freedom of speach I can do and say whatever I like.

12.) 03 Dec 2019 10:21:00
How can you not, as a man, be embarrassed by it though?

13.) 03 Dec 2019 16:29:58
Embarrassed by what? Jack was average at the start of the season no question about it why on earth are you still going on about this Chris Trust me I've read some of your comments before and I think is he for real but I keep my mouth shut. You don't rule this site even though you think you do I'm entitled to my opinions like you are yours so I suggest you look to the future and not dwell on the past.

14.) 03 Dec 2019 20:46:11
by all means question anything I post, I’m not that precious that I’ll get offended. But I don’t post out of emotion trying to point score like a child “I’ve always thought he was average”, then change my tune a few months later.

24 Nov 2019 13:44:13
Jarrod Bowen with a double today (so far), our of contract in the summer. surely we have to be looking at that.

Him and Ollie Watkins, more options up top.

1.) 24 Nov 2019 14:06:38
You know my feelings on that chris, would be great business, plus another one maybe two.

23 Nov 2019 17:14:02
Ollie Watkins with another goal Dave👀.

1.) 23 Nov 2019 19:40:54
Yeah I see that mate, 7 in 10 now, I know its championship football but McGinn did it in the championship and is still doing it in the prem.
He has a bit of everything so worth a punt in my opinion, and at his age should only increase in value.
You are certainly on the ball chris.

2.) 23 Nov 2019 22:59:55
Over the years, any player constantly scoring goals, has got to be worth a look. Villa have watched many players in the past and not taken the chance . Going back a bit, but remember Kerry Dixon,18 months Villa watched him.

He went to Chelsea, scoring lots of goals and went on to play for England. Kevin Phillips another one, prolific goal scorer, in any league.
Onwards and Upwards. Villa forever.

3.) 24 Nov 2019 14:21:19
Yeah I remember it well Dave, we have missed a few to be honest.

22 Nov 2019 18:46:41
Just looking at our youngsters out on loan, not exactly going amazing.

O'Hare probably the stand out, 13 appearances for Cov so far, 2 goals and a few man of the match awards. I actually work with a Cov fan who said he stands out every game, with his desire for the ball and his quality on it. You probably would have hoped for more goals/ assist but they sit third and he's been a big part of that.

James Bree has played a lot for Luton, but they sit just outside the relegation zone, I haven't heard any rave reviews either.

Hepburn-Murphy has 3 in 12 for Tranmere, but they all came in one game. I don't know how they play but surely to get more goals he needs to be getting in behind, he won't have any luck going man for man against big league one centre backs. Hopefully he can get double figures and maybe go out to championship level next year, his career is stuttering big time.

Andre Green has to be having the worst time out the lot, 4 league appearances, 2 cup and 1 goal. I don't even think he's been making the bench. He's had bad injuries for someone of his age but this lad was being talked about in the same light as Grealish not long ago, and now he couldn't be further away. We've all seen the talent and what he can do on his day, but he doesn't have his day often enough. Might be worth recalling him and sending him to league one in the hope he can find some form.

Out the four nine really strike you as guaranteed to make the step up to the first team. You look at Harvey Barnes last year and how he went out on loan and used it to show himself, got recalled in Jan and now hasn't left the first team since at Leicester. Hopefully they can, and Harry Kane never did amazing at any of the places he went on loan and blossomed late, hopefully it's the same case.

1.) 22 Nov 2019 19:23:56
A good rundown chris, and pretty much as it is i`m afraid mate.

2.) 23 Nov 2019 04:09:41
Andre green is a busted flush and will never play week in, week out, Alex Neil stated a few days ago he has arthritis in his toes, it's a massive shame because he has all the attributes needed to have been something special, I hope they figure out some way to help him overcome this because injections are just a short-term solution.

3.) 23 Nov 2019 08:45:37
He’s never had luck with injuries, I remember him coming on two years ago, team was playing awful, no positivity, he injected some life and drive, went to chase a nothing ball just to get us further up the pitch and try to inspire some energy, only for him to pull his hamstring in the process. He was out for the rest of the season.

4.) 23 Nov 2019 17:55:07
Maybe Chris, he needs to do what Johnny Wilkinson did, when he played rugby at Newcastle he was always getting injured, but when he took a chance and moved to France to play for toulouse (I think ), he attributed the warmer, drier climate to extending his career when the doctors over here said he should retire, I'd love green to stay, but I think he may be one of those players where the environment affects his physical well being, so I'd loan him to a club in Spain or turkey and fingers crossed it might reinvigorate his career, because like you say, he has a big heart.

I think he desperately needs a striker coach, someone who can try and give him them natural strikers instincts. We’ve seen it turn poor strikers into decent ones in the past.

I think your miss understanding the “moneyball” system to start with and our transfer strategy. Watch the film, (named handily ‘moneyball’) it has nothing to do with the sale of players. We had a clear transfer strategy in the summer, and that was nothing to do with the sale of player, seen in ya not selling Grealish. We brought young players hoping they will develop together at the same time over a number of seasons. Look at Bournemouth first team, some of them have been there since the championship, with good coaching and cohesion look at what they have become.

{Ed001's Note - exactly chris, Moneyball is nothing to do with selling, it is all about using stats to find undervalued players. Glad to see someone else understands it.}

We used a money ball method 4 years ago, under a different manager, different board and different owner, we haven’t used it since, keep up walkies.

Worth pointing out aswell that out of the 6 players that were signed using the stats based plan, 2 play in the champions league for top clubs, 1 plays Europa and one is a premier league regular having a brilliant season.

I read the same mate, but I’m not sure if it’s smoke and mirrors or not, remember in the summer every report was we was after butland, 2 days later we get Heaton.

I think they will spend but not massively, I think we need a winger and a striker. We have no competition really out wide and definitely none up front!

That Rashica we are linked with, me and Dave mentioned him a few weeks ago when England played Kosovo, he looks decent. The goal spread across the team tells me we need people to come in, get close to Wes, try get him to tick whilst also chipping in themselves.

Where have I insulted you on this post Scott? Highlight it. Because you keep mentioning debate but now you’ve gone of on a tangent and not provided any sort of response, I wonder why that is.

All you have come back with is, is that if the value is 240 million why does the league table look as it does. Now that is poor, is shows you haven’t actually read the responses to your post, or my break down, as it was circa 160million, no where near 240.

Now you’ve switched your point saying I’m being personal, in this thread I have said, your point is out of touch with the game, your maths is poor, the original point is rubbish and you maybe 8 pints deep when you get to a game. The title of the page is “villa banter”, if any of that is too much for you or anyone else, let me know and I’ll spectate, but to me, if someone said any of those things about me, I’d laugh and respond, it’s not that serious.
When you make a point, if you want debate as you have said, at the very least put some effort into explaining it and backing it up with evidence, and when people respond, against your point with facts and figures, don’t just go off on a tangent because you can’t back up your point.

I think if that’s all you can come up with, it settles the argument, next time you want to spout some rubbish, out more effort in.

Also your maths is absolutely horrendous, the figures I put down don’t even come close to 240million, shows the strength of your argument.

I couldn’t help myself, Whilst all transfer depend on what people are willing to pay, I’ll use as recent as possible examples to prove your idiocy.

Kourtney Hause: we benefitted massively from having a buy out clause input at the start of his loan, signed for 3 million, based off his performances in the championship alone, and the price of similar age Matt Clarke whom had no championship experience or top flight and went for 6mil, baring in mind Hause was key in getting us promoted, mostly championship clubs would be interested and a fee of 6mil plus would be more than fair. Doubled our money.

Jota: whilst saving on wages we will have lost money on him.

Heaton: signed for 6.5 million, won’t have lost any money on him, we got a good deal for an England international of his quality due to burnley having 3 high quality first team keepers, you’d imagine we would get minimum 8million.

Engels: signed for 7.5million, absolute steel, earned brilliant reviews and proved he can play at the top level, minimum doubled our money, if not more. You look at the market for centre backs, we’d be poor negotiators if we got less than 20 million.

El Ghazi: 8million, same as hause, benefitted from putting in the buy out clause before hand, now a winger who was instrumental in a promotion winning side, and proved he can play premier league, scoring and assisting a few already, to what level we will see but when you see Tom lawerence being sold for 15 million, el ghazi would be demanding at least double what we paid.

Trez: 9 million, on brilliant form at the minute, gone from a winger in turkey to a winger who can play premier league and score/ create goals, even against top level opponents. Wingers like that, similar to el ghazi are getting you minimum 15 million.

Nakamba: 10million, playing that Kante/ Gueye role his stats speak for themselves, wouldn’t be short of suitors, and you’d be looking at at least double your money, when you look at the price of say lemina and others recently.

Konsa: we actually paid quite a bit, believed to be 11.5 million, but his young English and put in some brilliant performances off late, come the end of the season if he keeps getting chances, his price shouldn’t be short of 20 million.

Targett: similar time Konsa, 13 million, a bit older but also played well this season, wouldn’t lose a penny of him and give some of his form he’d be looking at 15 million.

Douglas Luiz: paid a decent fee 15 million, but now a full Brazilian international, scored a few stunners and showed good all round play whilst still adapting, wouldn’t lose a penny on him.

Mings: signed for 20 million, after recent add ons, made some mistakes but now a full england international, would make our money back on that alone. Showing injury problems are behind him, wouldn’t lose money.

Wesley: 23 million, struggles of late but on track to get 10+ goals just about, since signing has become a Brazilian international, being fair you’d imagine despite being an international unless he does break double figures, teams won’t pay more than 15, but if he does and gets a few more caps for Brazil, we’d make our money back.

Figures are from transfermarkt, and where I could I backed up with recent examples.

Now without getting personal because it’s all opinions, what is your aim here, even when we were on 8,9,10 game run last year you were negative, we lose to a team competing in Europe in our first season back in the prem and once again your back at it! You must have some self awareness to read your posts and think I’m very much glass half full.

And before you claim it’s being realistic, it’s not, it’s just being anti, nearly every post from you is anti Villa, you mention you go to games but I don’t see how you can and be this out of touch with the game. Are you 8 pints deep by the time you get there?

To be honest Dave I don’t even think he believes that dribble, it’s not worth the bite.
