Now Man City have failed to recall Luiz what happens next? Are we obligated to sell him back at a higher price if MC come calling?
Edd perhaps you know the ins and outs of this?

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City had the option to buy the player back but could not simply take him back without the agreement of the player. Manchester City have apparently considered it but they have other targets for that role and have already signed a youngster who is expected to do very well in that same role, meaning Luiz would be cover at best. I am told the player does not want to return and not play - so he will stay with Aston Villa.}

1.) 06 Jun 2021 11:13:13
Thank you Edd.

2.) 07 Jun 2021 11:29:17
I read somewhere that Liverpool are looking to offload Marko Grujic, defensive midfielder, who’s just finished his loan deal at Porto. Apparently he will be available for as little as 12 million. Ed001 do you know if there’s any truth in this, also how do you rate him, and do you think he would be a good fit for AVFC.

{Ed001's Note - yes, but he will need a new work permit, which might be difficult to obtain. I like him as a player, but he has had a few attitude issues in the past in training, not working hard enough. That seemed to be cleared up in his loan spell with Cardiff when Colin Wa**er called him out on it publicly, but those kind of things can always return. Good range of passing, makes late runs into the box when given the freedom too, so could be a good option for Villa.}

3.) 07 Jun 2021 14:24:48
Thanks for that Ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

Daily Star reckons we are looking at a double swoop on Chelsea for Tammy and Loftus-Cheek.
Silly season in the newspapers again?

1.) 30 May 2021 09:38:19
If you could get the 2 for £50M or less it’s a deal. 1 thing I can share about Ollie and the Spurs rumours, he’s only just moved in to a new home in the past month, would seem dat to be on the move again so soon, but who knows in football 🤷🏼‍♂️

2.) 30 May 2021 09:54:19
He moved into Thierry Henry’s house? 😂😂.

3.) 30 May 2021 11:15:02
Express is reporting Tammy would be bought and LC loan deal. Terry apparently getting involved on this one.

4.) 30 May 2021 17:56:49
No @Chris, it’s a brand new house, 4 floors, swimming pool in the basement, Henry’s was a 1 bed studio that he bought off Paul Tait, I say a 1 bed studio, I meant a 1 berth static caravan 😂

5.) 31 May 2021 09:05:07
Loftus-Cheek - mid 20s, 10 career goals, numerous more missed games to injury - that’s a ‘no’ from me.

Abraham - 2 goals every 7 in PL. His fee = starting line up. Same position as our current record signing. Chances of Smith changing formation to 2 up front - slim. Moving Watkins to LW, Grealish to AM and leaving 1 DM/ 1CM also very unlikely, given past experiences.

26 Jan 2021 17:53:35
Villa announce Sanson.

1.) 31 Jan 2021 21:36:20
Great to have him, he can play all over the midfield which is so useful plus he is a damn good player too and a constant goal threat.

25 Sep 2020 10:04:51
That's Samatta gone - Sky Sports.

1.) 25 Sep 2020 14:10:10
On Wednesday, when I said he was off, I'm sure you said his Dad said he wasn't going 😂.

2.) 25 Sep 2020 16:31:34
Correct. It was meant as a sarcastic remark against the excessive paper rumours we are getting.

3.) 25 Sep 2020 19:33:05

23 Sep 2020 16:39:20
Reports from Spain we are interested in Mallorca striker Ante Budimir for £13m.

1.) 23 Sep 2020 17:14:13
Not sure I understand this one, he doesn’t fit the age profile of what we are supposedly looking for and his goals to games ratio isn’t that great probably why the fee is relatively low for a striker these days, I can’t help wondering if he is another Borja?

2.) 23 Sep 2020 17:34:45
Agreed Villajohn, can't see Villa spending that amount on someone like him. Having spent as much as we have already I can only see them getting older players in if they are quality and cheap (at least fee wise) to boost quality for a season or two. Only serious money will be spent on younger players now inline with the recruitment strategy and player profile already stated by Purslow.

3.) 25 Sep 2020 01:12:11
I can see Lange and Smith raising reserve options if their chosen negotiations go awry. If there is any truth in this one, I would imagine it falls into that back up category.

We must make enquiries for plenty during the window with only a fraction ever developing into deals.

For those worried about Jack leaving, google "under a gas lit lamp Wes Eden" and read the article from earlier this evening.
I found it fascinating.

1.) 26 Jun 2021 07:38:44
Akavilla I had a good read of that and it’s a very interesting article he will surely do everything he can to stop him from going and if that means splashing the cash on him it looks from there article he certainly will.

2.) 26 Jun 2021 14:10:35
I mentioned Giannis and the way they dealt with that situation a while back, there are clear parallels with our situation with Grealish. Time will tell but as some have said, it’s a win win.

05 Jun 2021 07:10:11
Final day for Man City to recall Luiz.

1.) 05 Jun 2021 11:21:54
Once all the uncertainty is over for Dougie, hopefully he’ll be able to focus better, knowing Villa is his future. He’s a young player who will I think become a better player over the next few seasons.

2.) 05 Jun 2021 13:44:45
I've a sneaky feeling the plan is to buy a holding MF and push McGinn further forward - That would free Luiz up as well, he's not a holding midfielder but there is absolutely a quality footballer there.

Cash, Kinda, Mings, Targett

Buendia, McGinn, Grealish

Yes please :-)

3.) 05 Jun 2021 14:00:05
BK, you’ve nailed it with that line up, let’s get some nasty bugger in there to free up Luiz (if he stays) and McGinn

4.) 05 Jun 2021 14:26:17
Looks as if Buendia prefers Arsenal (several reports) .

5.) 05 Jun 2021 16:57:39
I have decided to ignore all paper rumours as they are now saying an agreement between Villa and Norwich is imminent.

6.) 05 Jun 2021 19:54:14
Surely you knew that by now?

7.) 05 Jun 2021 20:19:01
Yes I did Chris but as usual l lost myself on the page I was reading due to the excitement.

02 Jun 2021 12:36:36
Sounds as if DS is having second thoughts about signing Tammy especially at £40m.

1.) 02 Jun 2021 23:22:12
I get the sense a striker is not a priority, which for me is absolute madness! If we lose Watkins we would be in massive trouble, I can understand not wanting to drop 40M on a striker but we need another option up front. I love Davis and Wesley but they won't score us enough goals to get to where we want.

2.) 03 Jun 2021 10:29:15
I think it’s only fair to give Wesley a chance in pre season.
Before his injury he was starting to play better and was scoring a few goals. We have to remember that he had less quality around him than Ollie has had this season,
but he did still score 6 goals in 23 appearances.
I think Villa should focus on bringing in a bit of quality on the flanks and attacking midfield areas, to take the pressure of Jack. The more creativity there is the more chances there will be. In a team with that sort of quality, who knows what Wesley might be capable of.
Also, I mentioned in a previous post that Traoré is capable of leading the line, he did it well at Lyon, so who’s to say he couldn’t with us, and finally don’t forget we have Barry and Young knocking on the door.

3.) 03 Jun 2021 17:03:11
I agree with you Mark, if we are going to spend big on two wingers, replace Taylor, and get Tuanzebe back, and spend less than £100 million then we certainly won’t be buying Abraham.

26 May 2021 20:00:41
John Percy of the Telegraph reckons we are leading the race for Buendia ahead of arsenal.

1.) 26 May 2021 21:26:14
What a signing that would be - Seems like we are looking a small number of signings in key areas, sounds good to me especially if they are of Buendia's calibre.

2.) 26 May 2021 21:53:08
I fully agree with you BK.

3.) 27 May 2021 12:29:31
I hope I am wrong but I don’t think Buendia will be coming, two reasons firstly Deano’s comment that he doesn’t see the club splashing out big money on players this window, and secondly I understand Buendia would rather move to a London based club.

4.) 27 May 2021 13:50:01
I'm not getting my hopes up on Beundia John, agree that London is a big draw but after Purslows comments yesterday I still think we will spend but maybe on 2 or 3 areas rather than the 5 or 6 we may need.

5.) 27 May 2021 23:51:52
Seem to think we could have had Buendia for a whole lot less 12 months ago.

I am not convinced Arsenal have much dosh to play with without selling players. With that in mind, an early play for Buendia will likely play to our strengths.

Smith and Purslow's recent commments seem to suggest only a few additions. It will be interesting to see if, say, Sinasalo gets a chance as no. 3 keeper or whether we go for someone like Gazzaniga.

26 Jan 2021 18:50:40
Easy question for you Villa fans.
I have just watched highlights from a match played on this day in 1983.
What was it and what was the score?

1.) 26 Jan 2021 20:11:38
Barcelona 3 - 0.

Just been reading the report myself Villajohn.
Unsure about their reliability but I am at the stage where I am not too bothered either way.
If he stays, great and if he leaves we will also benefit.
I have never believed a club like Villa should be totally built around one player as that could result in a disaster in the case of long term injury or in this case a transfer out of the club.

I have just read a fascinating article about how Wes Eden rewards loyalty in his star Baskerball player Milwaukee Bucks player Giannis Antetokounmpo in the states and keeps the opposition vultures away from him.
This is a similar situation to Jack’s position at Villa and I would recommend you all have a look at it.
You can find it on the Aston Villa rumours Now site under a Under the Gas Lit Lamp article.

It would be sad to see Jack go but I do agree with Wack and John. I think the lad is craving to play at an higher level in European and world competitions and If he leaves I would say good luck to him and thank you for your years of service at Villa Park.

Villa4eva, it is not a done deal and as far as I am aware Villa have not received any offer. In fact there appears to be talk of Villa considering a new bumper contract for Jack.

Just read about this Smithy, sounds good to me if it happens. £30m mentioned.

{Ed002's Note - Leon Bailey (RW/LW) A player who has had his mojo drifting away and Bayer Leverkusen are open to him moving on. Spurs are keen but want the price to drop further. Prior interest of Everton and Leeds has drifted away - Everton already being over loaded with players who are predominently LW and Leeds have preferred options. Arsenal or Manchester United may offer an option but Arsenal really need to make some decisions on their squad. Aston Villa may offer an option but they have added Emiliano Buendia and already have Traore on the right and Trezeguet and Grealish on the left so it is ahard to see how he would fit in.}

Dave, I am sure Grealish will know full well why he was substituted and Southgate is sure making the right decisions at the moment.
