From the official AVFC site. Villa reach agreement for Leon Bailey!
Just the medical to be done.

1.) 31 Jul 2021 18:32:49
Yes £30million agreed and medical to follow. Is he to replace Jack or play alonside him? I guess we will know on Monday.

2.) 01 Aug 2021 11:10:36
Just a note on Bailey. Although he has been playing right side more recently, he has operated down the left in the majority of his games historically. Quite where Smith sees him playing will be interesting and, of course, that could well be influenced by Grealish either sticking or twisting.

The garb across the aggregators and Twit suggests Cantwell, Hughes and McNeil are still all under consideration, so does that offer any clue?

Just hope this Grealish business is sorted out early this week. Frankly, I am getting fed up with the story. More importantly, Villa need to know the lay of the land as soon as possible.

3.) 02 Aug 2021 11:37:40
It a game of psychology, City won't comment because they're not sure if he will agree, Villa won't comment because they're not sure either which is an indicator that Jack is not sure himself. All the reports of a done deal are clearly not true, if he was certain then he would speak. It looks like the Club is leaving the decision to him otherwise they would quite simply reject the offer.

30 Jul 2021 17:42:27
Being reported Villa have agreed terms with Bailey so does this mean we are close to an agreement with his club?

1.) 30 Jul 2021 23:34:25
If it’s to be believed then I would say it’s just a matter of ironing out the payment schedule and add ons, his club wouldn’t allow him to talk with us unless the deal was all but done, but that being said it’s hard to believe “football insider” they will print anything, didn’t they say a few weeks back that a 88 million few had bring agreed with city before the euros? They why would city now bid 100 million, I don’t believe the Bailey story but I hope it comes off, he’s a talented lad and a good addition.

30 Jul 2021 14:34:40
According to Percy £100m bid for our Jack.

1.) 30 Jul 2021 15:04:39
Akavilla apprently it’s 90million and Morgan Rodgers who was at the baggies academy and he is apparently valued at 10mill by City.

2.) 30 Jul 2021 16:01:53
Yes 1 + 2 = £100m.

3.) 30 Jul 2021 16:43:24
The opinion seems to be that the club want to keep Jack but they are leaving the final decision to him, which is fair enough, but even if he says he wants to move a £100 million is an opening bid we should not accept the first bid as Whack attack says we need to squeeze whatever we can out of City although I do think his £160 million suggestion is a tad optimistic 🤣🤣🤣.

4.) 30 Jul 2021 16:53:51
Agreed John, I was always taught never to accept the first bid when I was negotiating prices and contracts.

5.) 30 Jul 2021 17:47:08
Jack has had the time to tweet when he was getting slated for not taking a penalty he now has had time to react to the rumours if he wanted to stop. For me now its gone past the point of no return with a certain few fans now calling him a snake and also I've seen 1 picture where by a top with his name on being burnt I'm sure his head was turned when at the Euros and maybe Southgate has told him he needs to be at a top 6 club to be a regular 1st teamer in the England set up.1 thing is for sure knowing our fanbase there will be some in-house fighting again.

6.) 30 Jul 2021 19:01:39
If someone has done that it’s absolutely ridiculous and the club should look into it and look to ban them. As things stand he’s still our player, if people believe everything their told that’s their fault. For all we know it’s already been agreed he’s signing a new deal, and we’re stringing city along. Not saying that’s the case or anywhere near but the same melts calling him a snake and what not would be licking his arse again.

He’s never going to come out publicly and say what’s going on, if he came out and said “I’m never leaving villa” that puts him in an awful position to get the best deal out of the club, and same if he said he was leaving, that’s common sense and the reason you’ve never seen anyone come out and do such a thing.

7.) 30 Jul 2021 21:21:42
Spot on Chris, no player make any such statements unless they have signed a new deal, it’s all about money, jacks agent will get him the best possible deal from either club and tell him to keep quiet until he decides. I for 1 think he will spend a lot of time on the city bench even if they spend 100 million on him, money means nothing to them, all this talk about pep being 1 of the greatest managers but how much money does he need to spend to win trophies.

8.) 30 Jul 2021 22:32:44
Absolutely Chris his agent will have told him to keep his mouth shut and so far it has worked, apparently there is 200k per week on the table and you can imagine the other benefits!

9.) 30 Jul 2021 22:56:04
Aston Villa and Manchester City are still said to be deep in secret negotiations, even after Jack said he wants to stay and the Villa owners rejected a £100million bid from City! Grealish is thought to have changed his mind "again" after a heart to heart with a City insider on a plane on his way home from Holiday LOL They won't leave it alone guys even if he stays he's leaving soon according to the lazy, manipulative, journalists and low level hacks in the UK.

06 Jun 2021 10:06:45
Now Man City have failed to recall Luiz what happens next? Are we obligated to sell him back at a higher price if MC come calling?
Edd perhaps you know the ins and outs of this?

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City had the option to buy the player back but could not simply take him back without the agreement of the player. Manchester City have apparently considered it but they have other targets for that role and have already signed a youngster who is expected to do very well in that same role, meaning Luiz would be cover at best. I am told the player does not want to return and not play - so he will stay with Aston Villa.}

1.) 06 Jun 2021 11:13:13
Thank you Edd.

2.) 07 Jun 2021 11:29:17
I read somewhere that Liverpool are looking to offload Marko Grujic, defensive midfielder, who’s just finished his loan deal at Porto. Apparently he will be available for as little as 12 million. Ed001 do you know if there’s any truth in this, also how do you rate him, and do you think he would be a good fit for AVFC.

{Ed001's Note - yes, but he will need a new work permit, which might be difficult to obtain. I like him as a player, but he has had a few attitude issues in the past in training, not working hard enough. That seemed to be cleared up in his loan spell with Cardiff when Colin Wa**er called him out on it publicly, but those kind of things can always return. Good range of passing, makes late runs into the box when given the freedom too, so could be a good option for Villa.}

3.) 07 Jun 2021 14:24:48
Thanks for that Ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

30 May 2021 08:03:26
Daily Star reckons we are looking at a double swoop on Chelsea for Tammy and Loftus-Cheek.
Silly season in the newspapers again?

1.) 30 May 2021 09:38:19
If you could get the 2 for £50M or less it’s a deal. 1 thing I can share about Ollie and the Spurs rumours, he’s only just moved in to a new home in the past month, would seem dat to be on the move again so soon, but who knows in football 🤷🏼‍♂️

2.) 30 May 2021 09:54:19
He moved into Thierry Henry’s house? 😂😂.

3.) 30 May 2021 11:15:02
Express is reporting Tammy would be bought and LC loan deal. Terry apparently getting involved on this one.

4.) 30 May 2021 17:56:49
No @Chris, it’s a brand new house, 4 floors, swimming pool in the basement, Henry’s was a 1 bed studio that he bought off Paul Tait, I say a 1 bed studio, I meant a 1 berth static caravan 😂

5.) 31 May 2021 09:05:07
Loftus-Cheek - mid 20s, 10 career goals, numerous more missed games to injury - that’s a ‘no’ from me.

Abraham - 2 goals every 7 in PL. His fee = starting line up. Same position as our current record signing. Chances of Smith changing formation to 2 up front - slim. Moving Watkins to LW, Grealish to AM and leaving 1 DM/ 1CM also very unlikely, given past experiences.

Well, well. Brazilian health authorities want the 4 players from the PL isolated and kicked out of the country as they have not isolated for the previous 14 days after arriving from England.

1.) 05 Sep 2021 21:36:26
Apparently they lied on their C.V. forms saying that they hadn't been in the UK in the previous 14 days. Maybe they were hoping no-one watches Match of the day in Brazil!

2.) 05 Sep 2021 21:46:54
Hopefully this is the end of releasing players to country’s where such rules are imposed and until there are no quarantine regulations upon their return. the whole thing is ridiculous, shame on the Argentinian football federation.

3.) 05 Sep 2021 23:15:53
All a bit dramatic from the Brazilian authorities, the players didn’t declare they had been in the UK, but didn’t say they hadn’t, the whole situation of them travelling has been talked about for weeks so they knew it was coming, and they were coming from the UK.

As Messi said, they’ve been in Brazil for three days, why wait till the game had started to do this? A lot easier to do it at the airport as they arrive, hotel, training sessions. Stinks of one big attention grab. Players should have disclosed they were in the UK, silly not to, but everything after that is just ridiculous on the Brazilian authorities behalf.

4.) 06 Sep 2021 00:03:09
Don’t forget 🎼we’ve got McGinn, super John McGinn, we just don’t think you understand 🎼 - err, that he’s actually got C.V., so if the entire England squad go down with it, I assume it will be Mings’s fault - well that will be Beaky’s view anyway.

05 Aug 2021 20:53:14
Liverpool's Xherdan Shaqiri is available for under £13m any takers?

1.) 05 Aug 2021 22:56:34
Not for me, the cost to benefit just doesn't seem to offer value. We've got other players that can do one spectacular thing every 10 games and nothing inbetween.

25 Jun 2021 21:44:04
For those worried about Jack leaving, google "under a gas lit lamp Wes Eden" and read the article from earlier this evening.
I found it fascinating.

1.) 26 Jun 2021 07:38:44
Akavilla I had a good read of that and it’s a very interesting article he will surely do everything he can to stop him from going and if that means splashing the cash on him it looks from there article he certainly will.

2.) 26 Jun 2021 14:10:35
I mentioned Giannis and the way they dealt with that situation a while back, there are clear parallels with our situation with Grealish. Time will tell but as some have said, it’s a win win.

05 Jun 2021 07:10:11
Final day for Man City to recall Luiz.

1.) 05 Jun 2021 11:21:54
Once all the uncertainty is over for Dougie, hopefully he’ll be able to focus better, knowing Villa is his future. He’s a young player who will I think become a better player over the next few seasons.

2.) 05 Jun 2021 13:44:45
I've a sneaky feeling the plan is to buy a holding MF and push McGinn further forward - That would free Luiz up as well, he's not a holding midfielder but there is absolutely a quality footballer there.

Cash, Kinda, Mings, Targett

Buendia, McGinn, Grealish

Yes please :-)

3.) 05 Jun 2021 14:00:05
BK, you’ve nailed it with that line up, let’s get some nasty bugger in there to free up Luiz (if he stays) and McGinn

4.) 05 Jun 2021 14:26:17
Looks as if Buendia prefers Arsenal (several reports) .

5.) 05 Jun 2021 16:57:39
I have decided to ignore all paper rumours as they are now saying an agreement between Villa and Norwich is imminent.

6.) 05 Jun 2021 19:54:14
Surely you knew that by now?

7.) 05 Jun 2021 20:19:01
Yes I did Chris but as usual l lost myself on the page I was reading due to the excitement.

02 Jun 2021 12:36:36
Sounds as if DS is having second thoughts about signing Tammy especially at £40m.

1.) 02 Jun 2021 23:22:12
I get the sense a striker is not a priority, which for me is absolute madness! If we lose Watkins we would be in massive trouble, I can understand not wanting to drop 40M on a striker but we need another option up front. I love Davis and Wesley but they won't score us enough goals to get to where we want.

2.) 03 Jun 2021 10:29:15
I think it’s only fair to give Wesley a chance in pre season.
Before his injury he was starting to play better and was scoring a few goals. We have to remember that he had less quality around him than Ollie has had this season,
but he did still score 6 goals in 23 appearances.
I think Villa should focus on bringing in a bit of quality on the flanks and attacking midfield areas, to take the pressure of Jack. The more creativity there is the more chances there will be. In a team with that sort of quality, who knows what Wesley might be capable of.
Also, I mentioned in a previous post that Traoré is capable of leading the line, he did it well at Lyon, so who’s to say he couldn’t with us, and finally don’t forget we have Barry and Young knocking on the door.

3.) 03 Jun 2021 17:03:11
I agree with you Mark, if we are going to spend big on two wingers, replace Taylor, and get Tuanzebe back, and spend less than £100 million then we certainly won’t be buying Abraham.

I can’t imagine Southgate is a yes man where Mings is concerned. He is a Villa player and Southgate is still very anti-Villa.

Trinity, a striker from my error as I was 16 when we won the World Cup.
Many at the time felt Greavesy should have been playing after recovering from injury but Sir Alf felt differently and did it his way.
RIP Jimmy.

I disagree with your comment WTW when you say all Villa want to do is survive in the Premiership.
Our owners have made clear they want to be at the top and play European matches.
