I've heard that as well as Raschica at Werder, we've enquired about their left back too, Swedish lad, Ludwig Somethin?

If it’s Ludwig Van Beethoven, that’s music to my ears 😂.

2.) 17 Sep 2020 08:10:44
🥁 🥁 😂😂

UTV.

3.) 17 Sep 2020 09:29:07
A left back could be on the cards, given Taylor’s contract expiring next summer. Rumour has it that we did enquire if Brentford (again) would sell Henry, but they want to retain him.

4.) 17 Sep 2020 20:02:05
Strikes a note this one.

5.) 18 Sep 2020 16:00:59
Danny Rose is the new leftbacknamedoi g the rounds.

Past reports suggested he was disenchanted with the EPL, so maybe he would be better off going abroad.

My mate close to Villa says Gregoire Defrel at BMH

UTV.

Allyp1972

1.) 07 Jan 2020 18:58:49
Read about it early today, not the greatest scoring record though, strike rate about 1 in 5.
It is unlikely but would prefer Krzysztof Piatek if what we are reading is true.

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath over Piatek - there have already been discussions with two German and one Austrian side.}

2.) 07 Jan 2020 19:32:47
I’ve heard of Deano saying he wants a No9 with Prem experience so those 2 don’t fit the bill, could Big Ben be on his way? It’s been said that Palace want Batsuwotshisname on loan?

UTV.

3.) 07 Jan 2020 19:53:47
I hope not, big Ben is past his bedtime mate, and running a bit slow now.

4.) 07 Jan 2020 19:51:12
Ed I am not going to hold my breath on anyone mate, he would just be a preference to the aforementioned.

05 Jan 2020 00:11:27
Centre forward worth looking at, Sebastian Andersson of Union Berlin, 28, 6ft 3" in last 6 months of his contract, almost a goal every 2 games in the Bundesliga, Swedish international?

I've been told Benrahma been at BHM today and passed medical, announcement tomorrow evening/ early Thursday, still trying for Axel and Phillips, nothing about a No9, only other thing I heard was 100% McGinn staying as looking for a property in an area the right side of Solihull for BMH, no it's not by me in Chelmsley lol 😂

UTV.

Allyp1972

1.) 06 Aug 2019 16:59:47
With what we have, why Axel.

2.) 06 Aug 2019 21:40:09
We have 3 keepers so why Heaton? because we’re Villa and we spend what we want! 💰💰💰

UTV.

3.) 06 Aug 2019 21:42:30
The last bloke you said was looking for property was Thiery Henry, turn it in.

4.) 06 Aug 2019 21:53:19
So going on your last comment Chris, McGinn is leaving 🤷🏼‍♂️

UTV.

5.) 06 Aug 2019 22:00:37
& Chris, to save you looking back at the archives again, I never said Henry was looking for property, I said someone saw a video conference call with Martinez that made me think it was Martinez we were after when Bruce went

UTV.

6.) 07 Aug 2019 08:25:18
I’ve never said Mcginn is leaving? I said Alan Nixon was reporting united wanted him, his article is still out there. You ok the other hand specifically said Henry was looking at property in the area, then when you was called out on it recently you responded with something along the lines of “caught one today” as if to imply your fishing. Shortly after that Sturridges brothers dogs former owners cousins doctor told you was was in talks to sign him and now you’ve gone with the safe option of Mcginn is staying because he’s buying property the right side of Solihull. You can see why people can be forgiven for thinking you talk out your rear end.

7.) 07 Aug 2019 10:05:09
Errrmmm. the Sturridge 1 wasn’t me, was someone from Tile Cross that said that, I’m from Chelmsley Wood 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’ve said we should go for Sturridge though, need to check your archives a lil more thorough mate, just accept that if someone in and around Villa tells me something, I like to share as it’s a RUMOURS site, can’t put it more simply than that tbh?

UTV.

8.) 07 Aug 2019 12:02:49
But if someone in and around villa tells you stuff that never comes off, why are you still listening to them?

27 Jul 2019 23:35:13
Be honest. it might just be a rehash of something or there's no smoke without fire. if MUFC bid £50M for McGinn, would you take it? I would 🤷🏼‍♂️

UTV.

Allyp1972

1.) 28 Jul 2019 09:44:09
No 75m yes.

2.) 28 Jul 2019 13:01:34
We don’t need the money our owners are richer than the glazers, so why sell unless of course the player has a desire to leave .

Personally I think if results don’t go the way of man united, I can see them sacking ole and going for Pochettino or Nuno from wolves.

3.) 28 Jul 2019 20:17:15
Making a 47 million pound profit in 1 year on a player that’s not proven yet in the premier league. On paper we would be daft to turn it down.
On the other hand. he’s part of the teams core and we don’t need the money. Keep!

Just watched the debate about the England squad between Carragher and Neville last night, 1 thing that got my attention was that Dier hasn't been starting for the Spuds, I'd put a bid in for him, the guy's hard as nails, perfect CDM, and can play centre half in a back 3 or 4, I'd go to £30M for him, rather than waste that on Barkley 🤷🏼‍♂️

UTV.

Allyp1972

1.) 06 Apr 2021 18:47:13
I think there’s a reason why he hasn’t been starting. I watched his last game when they got knocked out of the Europa league. He wasn’t just awful, but his attitude as one of the senior players in the side on the night, was poor. Couldn’t get a hold of what was going on or motivate those around him.

Not good signs at all.

2.) 07 Apr 2021 02:19:00
I have to agree Chris, maybe worth 8-10 million but I would find it hard to hand it over for him.

3.) 07 Apr 2021 08:50:58
Probably best leaving it then, instead plunder the relegated teams for players to improve us even though they couldn’t keep their own club in the Prem, basically the transfer policy since as far back as I can remember, up until we had billionaire owners 🙄

UTV.

4.) 07 Apr 2021 09:42:58
As you’ve just pointed out, that was the policy until we had billionaire owners, what makes you think we would once again adopt that policy if we haven’t for the 4+ windows we’ve had these owners?

Me nor whack was suggesting such a transfer policy, just that Dier has been useless recently and his attitude hasn’t been much better.

5.) 07 Apr 2021 10:18:48
Seems to me you’re judging him on 1 game, watched Citeh vs Dortmund last night, I don’t think we should try to buy Haaland now, he didn’t play very well, a bit sulky tbh, leave him for Barca, Real, PSG, etc. Just pointing out that an established England squad member that would improve our team could be available at the right price, tell me 1 player that in all their career didn’t have an off night 🤷🏼‍♂️

UTV.

{Ed077's Note - Man City and Dinamo Zagreb arent quite the same level of opposition, are they? And Dier hasnt been that good/impressive for Spurs for sometime now.}

6.) 07 Apr 2021 11:32:35
As Ed has said, he’s been poor for some time. Hence why people are baffled at his constant England selection.

But if that’s your thoughts, that is was just one game, why not just say that? Instead of the strange comment about signing players from relegated sides? 🤔.

7.) 07 Apr 2021 12:17:44
Plundering championship sides hasn’t done us too badly recently with the likes of Cash, Konsa and Watkins joining the ranks, and let’s not forget if we hadn’t got the draw at West Ham last season Jack would have potentially been a championship player as well. Just because your team isn’t good enough to stay up doesn’t necessarily make you a bad player there will be a number of good players contracted to this years relegated sides.

8.) 07 Apr 2021 12:29:39
I’d be enquiring about lotus cheek. think he would’ve a great addition.

9.) 07 Apr 2021 12:36:04
Buendia another one John, championship player but you only have to watch him to see he’s 1 million percent capable of being a premier league regular.

10.) 07 Apr 2021 13:41:14
I think there’s a number who potentially could make the step up like Henry and Toney at Brentford and Swift and Olise at Reading. If clubs do there scouting properly I think there are some gems to be had not only in the championship but in the lower leagues as well.

11.) 07 Apr 2021 14:02:23
I like Olise, I’m undecided on Swift, looks brilliant on highlights but whenever I’ve seen him play a full game, I’ve rarely seen him really stand out.

{Ed002's Note - Olise will likely move on in the summer.}

12.) 07 Apr 2021 14:15:48
All the players that have been mentioned are fine players, can give you reasons why buying them wouldn’t improve us, based on not just 1 or a few games, look to the teams in and around us or even better above us for players if we want to improve, seems to me a lot of you on here are still thinking about future profit on players, not actually winning things or at least having a go, at the most I think we need 3 quality players in the right positions that would go straight into the team, not got potential and overpriced players, if potential is what you’re looking for in the transfer market, then a having a youth system is a waste of time isn’t it 🤷🏼‍♂️

UTV.

13.) 07 Apr 2021 14:20:21
I don`t think there is a poster on here that would turn their nose up at the prospect of signing Buendia, he needs a stage.
Patrick Bauer of Preston would be a good addition as cover for C/ B, a powerhouse in the air, and tough as they come.

14.) 07 Apr 2021 14:29:09
I can see what you are saying Ally, and I personally value your points, I think we are all pointing out things that could and should be considered.

15.) 07 Apr 2021 15:00:55
You seem to jump to a lot of conclusions Ally, no one on this thread has once mentioned future profit, sell on potential or anything of the sort? You’ve assumed that yourself but no one has suggested such. Remember Watkins, Konsa, Cash all came from the championship and improved us ten fold. You can never say for certain but it’s hard to imagine players like Buendia, Toney, Sarr just to name a few, not having a similar effect.

I agree this summer we should be looking at two or three high quality additions to go straight into the starting 11. This seems the best way of building, the days of signing 8 or more players in a single window that all would go straight into the team are long gone, hence why projects now take time.

I like Bauer as well Dave, proper unit of a centre half, got to be six foot 5 or more. The sort you’d want as back up as well, as you’d have no worries about them coming on and getting caught cold making mistakes, the way he defends leaves little room for mistakes when the balls in row Z😂.

16.) 07 Apr 2021 15:47:59
👍👍 Ditto mate.

17.) 07 Apr 2021 17:08:54
I’ll look at this another way, the players that have been mentioned would be good replacements for any outgoings, El Ghazi, Trez, Engels, Taylor, Elmo, Hourhane (maybe) and Barkley’s wages, but they’re not bang straight in from the start of the season players. The 3 positions that are up for grabs imo are defensive mid, right mid and a forward whether it’s a No9 or a right winger (assuming Jack plays on the left) Sanson could be the right mid, Luiz could be the right mid as I think he would be better going forward, Ramsey even but only if we’ve got a proven defensive mid and Dier/ Hayden would fall into that category (yes I know Newcastle could get relegated 🙄) Rice would be the dream. Looking at the right mid options then says to me it’s not a priority now that we have Sanson. So right wing and a No9 or someone who can play both. I’ll throw another name in now, Jonathan David of Lille, he’s smashing it in Ligue 1, 2 footed and has potential too, be looking at £40M+ though for him, depends if he’s willing to miss out on Champions League football to play in the Prem for lil old Aston Villa 🤷🏼‍♂️

UTV.

{Ed002's Note - Jonathan David will not be joining Aston Villa - try and get over the fantasy football stuff.}

18.) 07 Apr 2021 17:09:02
Ally the problem I have is that I am not sure any of the players currently playing for clubs in and around us ie the likes of Spurs Arsenal Liverpool and Chelsea are at present likely to join us as they will have better options available to them, as we are very much still a work in progress. (Tammy might be the exception but I am not sure he is what we need right now if I am honest. ) So ideally I would like to replace Barkley with Dele Alli but that isn’t going to happen that being the case If I was looking to only bring in 3 players who we have at least some chance of landing and would go into the first team they would be Saint Maximin, Mitrovic and Berge. I would move Grealish inside and Watkins out wide so my team would be as follows

Martinez

Cash Konsa Mings Targett

McGinn Berge

Watkins Grealish Saint Maximin

Mitrovic

Subs Steer, Guilbert, Hause, Traore, Sanson, Luiz Ramsey/ Barry

In arriving at this team I have assumed the likes of Heaton, Elmo, Taylor, Engels, Hourihane, Barkley, El ghazi and Trez will be plying their trade elsewhere.

19.) 07 Apr 2021 17:47:17
That’s a decent team John, though I think Traore is better than Saint Maximin so Olise would be a better option but only as a potential long term replacement for Traore. Always liked Mitrovic but he needs crosses going in, not wingers who cut inside, Berge is a decent player with a bit of height that we don’t have, but it’s the same problem again, would make McGinn a holding player again if we had that front 4 and that’s not his natural game, could do it at home against the lesser teams when the onus is on us to attack but over the season we would get found wanting. and Ed002, we’re Aston Villa and we buy who we want 🎶.

UTV.

{Ed002's Note - Olise certainly won't be moving to AV I am afraid.}

20.) 07 Apr 2021 18:42:15
Ally, As Ed has pointed out names like David etc are just complete non starters.

Re Sanson, do you mean the right side of a centre mid pairing, or as your saying “right mid” as it has now become known, infront of the right back? Because if it’s the latter, he’s never played there in his career, so I doubt we’d be looking to switch his position now. The same with Dougie.

I think your on a much more realistic line Villajohn, I think we may be able to attract a higher calibre striker than Mitrovic, just with the money we are rumoured to have available and depending on how the rest of the season pans out.

21.) 07 Apr 2021 19:14:28
Interesting that you’ve said Olise definitely won’t be moving to Villa Ed. You said Olise will likely move on this Summer earlier, so do you know something we don’t Ed?
If you know where he’s going could you share that info. with us please.

{Ed002's Note - Michael Olise (AM/W) Reading want to keep the player but have already had to fen of approaches from Crystal Palace and Wolves. The player has said he would like to return to Chelsea at some point but they have not made any approach. His brother is still at Chelsea and they may well be open to talking to Reading about taking him back. Leeds have a declared interest in taking him as a potential Rafinha replacement if they lose him but can be discounted. There have been scouts from Fortuna Düsseldorf, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Liverpool and I suspect others looking at him but Bayern Munich are in talks with Reading over taking him and Omar Richers to Germany in the summer. One club have had a scout visit Sindlesham and had him turned away. He Would want game time assurances and Bayern Munich will use Jamal Musiala, who Olise knows from his time at Chelsea, as an example of how players can.}

22.) 07 Apr 2021 20:00:09
Very informative Ed and thank you for all that.
To be honest I don’t think Villa would be able to guarantee him a regular starting spot anyway. Personally I would prefer Buendia, who would likely go straight into the team. I hope you’re not going to tell me we’ve got no chance of getting him either. 🤞🏻.

23.) 07 Apr 2021 20:10:16
Can’t see how that completely rules is out Ed? From the teams mentioned there, the places he would most likely have the most game times would be us, palace or Wolves.

Leeds depends on them losing a player as you’ve said, but the money they will want for Raphina surely the chances of him staying put are greater than them of him leaving.

{Ed002's Note - Well you can keep hoping Chris.}

24.) 07 Apr 2021 21:10:01
Absolute pie in the sky this (and yes Ed002, pure fantasy football this) but thought I'd pose the question seeing as names are being thrown around.
What would your thoughts be on Phillipe Coutinho as a statement No10/ wide forward? Barcelona struggling for cash and pretty desperate to get rid. Probably not a snowball in hell's chance but the same would of been said about us getting Barkley on loan.
Like i said just asking the question out of curiosity.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure who Aston Villa would be making a statement too? Or why. Pipco is certainly available, his agent is struggling to find any interest in him - but again it is a player Aston Villa have shown no interest in. The club should look to finding players who are younger and won’t cost such significant wages. Barkley is available and I am sure Chelsea would be open to another year on loan with an obligation to buy.}

25.) 07 Apr 2021 21:43:07
Weren't Pipco those horns you used to get for your bike back in the day? Sorry that's Pifco 🤣🤣🤣
When I mentioned a statement Ed002 was more associated with his name and reputation, tho that has been tarnished since his move to Barcelona. Was merely putting the question out there to gauge peoples thoughts. As for Barkley I'm sure they'd love to drop him on us either on loan or permanently but unfortunately not for me Jeff. Without being an expert it seems that there's something just not right about him at the moment, which is a shame as he does have talent.

{Ed002's Note - Pipco would be a good buy at a reasonable price. As for Ross Barkley, there is no doubt he is a good player, but distractions and consistency are the issues he needs to overcome.}

26.) 07 Apr 2021 21:54:37
Any idea what fee he'd be available for Ed and obviously what his wages are?

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know about the wages but about £15M or so should be enough to buy him.}

27.) 07 Apr 2021 22:16:03
Really? That low, would be an absolute steal for someone of that quality. I'll keep dreaming 🤣🤣🤣 cheers for the info Ed 👍.

28.) 07 Apr 2021 22:23:46
Unless Barkley ups the ante in the remaining weeks of the season then we should steer clear, his lack of consistency has plagued him throughout his career and I don’t see any evidence that this will change he is either good or very poor and has about one good game in four with that level of consistency I would rather invest the money elsewhere.

06 Feb 2021 21:43:12
I've heard that Jack will be suspended for the next game now, what do you think the plan is? El Ghazi or Trez direct replacement? Barkley play Jacks position then maybe Sanson in the midfield 3, or because it's Brighton, maybe 2 up top?

UTV.

Allyp1972

1.) 06 Feb 2021 22:03:32
He won’t be suspended mate😂.

2.) 07 Feb 2021 00:13:29
Why would he be suspended?

3.) 07 Feb 2021 08:59:28
I was told he was, without doing a forensic audit of the bookings situation myself, my apologies, I’ll go sit in the corner with Baby now. 💃🕺🏼

UTV.

4.) 07 Feb 2021 09:23:35
Nobody puts baby in the corner! 🙈.

5.) 07 Feb 2021 10:01:46
We reached the amnesty stage so needs to be 10 bookings for a suspension now.

6.) 07 Feb 2021 11:01:21
I believe if a player accumulates 10 bookings before the 32nd match, that would mean a 2 match ban.

7.) 07 Feb 2021 12:47:34
Yes Mark, it's 2 matches for 10, Jack should be fine not reaching that mark.

24 Jan 2021 19:34:44
Was talking about this the other day at work with a fellow Villa fan. have the owners considered sorting out the North Stand to increase the capacity? My mate reckons they have planning in place, surely a good time to have started woulda been before now, don't look like we'll be having fans back in grounds any time soon, and even then it'll only be a reduced amount, 3 sides of the ground being open would have enough capacity for the next year at least I'd say

UTV.

Allyp1972

1.) 24 Jan 2021 20:33:44
Ally I am finding it very hard to see how football will ever be the same again mate, in terms of packed out stadiums.
I have no doubt it will improve somewhat on the current situation, but personally I think those days are gone mate.
If those days do return, it will be a very tentative decision, and one that could be reversed at any time.
Therefore is it worth the outlay on such a project.

2.) 24 Jan 2021 20:39:19
Plans are definitely there, they was in place and approved from England’s bid to host one of the major tournaments about 10 years ago.

As you say, now would be the best time to bloody do it!

3.) 24 Jan 2021 21:02:22
From what I’ve heard, the waiting list for season tickets is 10K+, at my estimation we have around 25K season ticket holders + the 10K = 35K, and there’s a buzz about Villa now so build it I’d say

UTV.

4.) 25 Jan 2021 16:55:16
To quote "Build it, they will come. " (Field of Dreams)
Eventually normality of some sort will return, hopefully in my time.
AVFC will fill a 60k stadium as we progress.
Success puts bums on seats.
Build our own field of dreams.
While crowds are limited, non existant, it will be easier to complete the work.

24 Jan 2021 16:17:52
We all pretty much know who our 1st choice starting 11 is, I'll put it down regardless
GK Martinez
DEF Mings Konsa Targett Cash
MID Luiz McGinn *Barkley*
FOR Watkins Grealish Traore
On paper that's our strongest team, only Barkley and Traore are where some might disagree. My question is, looking to next summer, name 1-3 players that you think we should buy that would replace ANYONE in that team, players that we could/ should be able to get, I'm not talking back up players, players that would go straight in the team. It's not a test, just a bit of fun, and to see where everybody's head is at. I've got 1 or 2 in mind but I'm going to keep it back till I see what everyone else has to say

UTV.

Allyp1972

1.) 24 Jan 2021 17:02:46
When Sanson plays (I'm sure he hasn't joined to be a bench warmer) anyone got ideas how we will set up. Deano will tell us what a great position to have so much choice, it certainly encourages everyone to up their game, Marvelous, Elghazi and Trez are testament to what competition does, however he will have to keep players happy. Rotation will help, however Deano definitely likes a settled side, so it will be interesting how things pan out. My view for what it's worth I think Ross will be left out if the new guy is as good as the reviews. After yesterday performance I can see Marvelous getting more game time, I actually thought he was as good as Dougie last night. Whatever or who ever, it's certainly good to watch at the moment.

2.) 24 Jan 2021 17:19:16
I'd say only Messi, Ronaldo and possibly Van Dijk would be able to force their way into that starting XI or be excellent options from the bench 😁.

3.) 24 Jan 2021 17:24:57
I’m thinking Sanson is a replacement for Barkley who we’ll never sign for the £30M that’s been quoted. My post above was more about next season, players we could buy that would be definite starters that would replace any of that sample 11, also assume that none of that 11 will be leaving with the exception of Barkley who’s technically not our player, I’m just interested to see where everyone on here thinks we’re headed

UTV.

4.) 24 Jan 2021 17:26:45
Ally1972

Depends where we finish? If we qualify for Europe then obviously we will look to a higher calibre of player.

5.) 24 Jan 2021 17:38:53
Assume we finish in the European places, which is what we should be aiming for. Also assume that none of that 11 will be leaving, not ‘if we sell Jack’ etc. also say we have a budget of between £50-100M, just for arguments sake, spend it on 1-3 players

UTV.

6.) 24 Jan 2021 17:50:58
In that case then Ally I'll just throw in these names, Ings, Abraham, Coady, Podence, Bissouma where they'd fit in and who's place they'd take I really couldn't say but definitely of the calibre we should be looking at but really can't see us being too active in the summer unless there's some outgoings. Even if we just kept the same squad with some of the youngsters getting a bit of exposure I'd be more than happy.

7.) 24 Jan 2021 17:58:29
I’d try for Ings, and Tierney and additionally Brooks but not sure my £100 million would stretch that far!

8.) 24 Jan 2021 18:14:56
Striker and left back is where I’m looking too, if Sanson is a direct replacement for Barkey, but who am I thinking of. 🤔

UTV.

9.) 24 Jan 2021 18:25:17
I’d really like neto from wolves, creswell from West Ham and ings from Southampton.

10.) 24 Jan 2021 18:26:28
Ally, I honestly think that even with a budget of 100 million, if you’re talking about bringing 3 players who would automatically replace any of the current 11, it would be very difficult to achieve. That automatically eliminates players like De Bruyne, Kane, Salah, Mane etc. 😁
Konsa has been brilliant for us this season and another young defender who has impressed me is Wesley Fofana at Leicester. Not that Leicester would be willing to part with him, but him and Konsa at the back could make us even better at the back. Obviously that would have to be at the expense of Tyrone.
As already mentioned, it’s quite possible Sanson could well take Barkley’s role.
I would say either Brooks or Buendia might improve us on the right, but I do really like Traoré, and I’m really not sure that it would be an improvement.
If it were possible to get Fofana and say Brooks, I’m guessing it would cost us in the region of 75-80 million.

11.) 24 Jan 2021 18:40:48
You thinking realistic premier league targets or wishful thinking targets Ally?

12.) 24 Jan 2021 19:17:38
What about Lewis dunk for mings or and tammy for Watkins and move Watkins on right.

13.) 24 Jan 2021 19:25:55
In reply to Moose, I’d say realistic targets. I’ve only got 2 players in mind, assuming that Sanson is a done deal. The 2 players I think realistically we could by, and improve us are Andrea Belotti of Torino No9, and Robin Gosens of Atalanta at left back, I’d hope to get change out of £70M for them both. Milik woulda been my choice at No9 but he’s off to Marseille on loan with a £10.8M agreement to buy, think we’ve missed a trick there. Think both those players are gettable. If Wesley comes back and kills it, I would go for a younger striker with potential but only as a back up to Ollie and Wesley. If we could get Bellotti, he would become a VP legend, and he comes across as a sound grounded bloke too, not a flash git. That’s my 10 cents worth, nice to see some of the other names mentioned, definitely food for thought, Messi and Ronaldinho are a bit too old now Moose. 😜

Or isisco from real, on right, thuran who is a strikerfrom bmg in German league, they would be ambitious signings, I do think we need a higher calibre cb aswell instead of mings, he doesn't do it for me.

15.) 24 Jan 2021 19:33:36
Yes Ally can't see them lasting a full 90 😂😂😂😂👍.

16.) 24 Jan 2021 19:52:27
Players I’d like to sign are not essentially replacements, jordan amavi to compete with Matty, giroud for when we need to change up tactics with a different kind of striker, podence for me has huge potential to be brilliant, jack Harrison, Declan rice and the Wiley old fox serge Ramos to school our current CB’s, wouldn’t mind Tammy aswel but I wouldn’t swap him for Ollie I think Ollie works harder for the team and is a more genuine sort of lad.

17.) 24 Jan 2021 20:37:45
There are some great shouts in here, players that would not only improve us, but also give us options to change system if needs be.

There are also some absolutely rascal shouts, if Sergio Ramos is playing in the claret and blue for Aston Villa next season, I will check myself into a mental asylum😂😂😂

Whilst I get the question was on the basis we finished in the European slots, but we do need to be a realistic. Top 10 is a huge step for us, and still opens us up to much greater quality targets in the transfer market, however it doesn’t suddenly become a question of who do we want. You have to consider each player and their situation individually.

As an example, a few suggestions on here ings, Podence and Rice. Ings playing for the team he supports, as the number nine, having the season of a lifetime, scoring for fun and being linked with champions league sides, it isn’t going to happen is it. Podence would be a great signing, no doubt improve our side however break it down, first of all wolves player so will they want to sell to a rival after a poor season, off the back of two very successful ones. Secondly a Mendes client, everyone knows his relationship with Wolves. This all points to it being dead in the water. Then Rice, look at the teams being linked, chelsea the most heavily, considering he came through their academy, plus a London club, i doubt the decision would take him more than a few seconds. We have to remove the Claret tinted glasses sometimes and be realistic. Anyone who’s been posting on here for some time will tell you I’m very much glass half full, but let’s be realistic.

To me, shouts of Amavi, Tammy, Dunk, Brooks are all realistic. Goosens stands out as a deal that would be a big signing and has half a chance, depending on where Atalanta finish. Without naming names, three positions for me we could make big signings in, are left back, winger and attacking midfield (should we not sign barkley permanently) . Finishing in Europe would no doubt open us up to a much higher talent pool, however a top 10 would be phenomenal progression and an amazing platform to build from for next season.

18.) 24 Jan 2021 21:10:51
Can’t disagree with anything that’s been said, only thing I'd add is that we should establish ourselves as a Premier League club that’s not in any danger of going down, and not have to be a selling club because of our owners wealth, and get out of that mindset of buying players with sell on value, buy winners to get us trophies/ Champions League qualification, regardless of age, end of the day, that’s what it’s all about ain’t it?

19.) 24 Jan 2021 21:28:36
I'm struggling to think of anyone who would be a genuine upgrade who would be available and come to us. You also need to think about the team dynamic and philosophy we now have.
Possible outside shouts if we do manage to squeeze into Europe would be Coutinho (wages an issue and attitude could be a risk) looking for regular game time or Harrison if City are willing to sell.
I wouldn't look for a striker as a first choice, Ollie is fitting the system perfectly and I can't see anyone fitting as well there.
Central defence is the only other place and with our max age limit I'd only really be tempted by Jack stephens but he's been rocky at times so how much of an upgrade would that be?

20.) 24 Jan 2021 21:34:20
Good point RK, maybe just look to improve the squad depth with player who have the potential to force themselves into the first 11. Like Olise.

21.) 24 Jan 2021 22:01:03
That would be my route, everyone's improving all the time and still young so if they push us that high they deserve to keep going. Bulking out the squad with genuine competition but 2-4 years younger in each position then gives longer growth potential.
Like any team we want as many top players in each position as possible but the problem then is keeping them happy. Frank is having a hard time at Chelsea because he's having to juggle so many big players that pretty much none of them are settling.

22.) 24 Jan 2021 22:18:34
Olise, brooks, Barkley, Henry and then poss Abraham depending on how wesley looks on his return. if he looks like stepping up as our 2nd striker behind Watkins then potentially look for a younger striker then Abraham,

23.) 25 Jan 2021 07:08:16
I can't see Abraham coming to be second fiddle when he is guaranteed that spot with Chelsea for at least another year even if Frank goes.
We'd need to look at the best hold up players if we wanted to go down the route of pushing Ollie wide and Tammy doesn't fit that. They are very similar players and Ollie seems to have kicked on more than Tammy the last year or so.

Trying to sign Milik from Napoli on the cheap or on loan is a no brainer ain't it, the guy is class, contract ends in June so I'd say £10M would get a £40M striker, if only on loan, would play out of his skin to put himself in the shop window, for us or A nother, win win

Don't know a lot about Milik but seems to be very highly rated, tho apparently not at Napoli at the moment lol, would be quite a coupe to get him on board 👍.

2.) 14 Jan 2021 16:08:19
Would show intent, I ain’t ruled out getting into the Champions League places the way this season’s been going, I mean for all clubs (apart from the Dingles and Tesco bags 🤪)

They bought him for £15M when he was playing arguably his best football, he’s gone backwards since then and is a few years older, £20M or less in a heavily impacted by C.V. market or walk away

If Chelski want £30M for Barkley, I’d offer them £10M more for Mount, that’d confuse out of Southgate if they were on the pitch at the same time. 🤔

Gotta agree with Cafu’s 1st post in this thread, think of it another way there’s that thing ‘you’ll never win anything with kids’ if I remember rightly that was 1st said after we beat Man U 1st game of the season, Savos and a few others debuts, weren’t Beckham and that crop of players on the losing side to Villa, but then went on to win the Prem that year, don’t think their confidence took too much of a knock? Another thing to think about that it would be better to throw some of the kids in while there’s no fans there too

I played in the same team as a lad that went to Lilleshall (we’re talking 30+ years ago) a centre half, he was Jaap Stam good at 14/ 15, the nose signed him and then he went to Derby when they were throwing money around, pretty sure they paid bout half a million for him and he hadn’t even played a 1st team game, think he played about 10 games for Derby then never heard of him again, think he ended up at Forest Green. I think my point here is there’s a very fine line where a player could go either way, this guy was immense as a kid, surprised he didn’t make it big time, he weren’t a Billy Big B@ll@cks either, can only put it down to miss management 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s all about the subtle disclaimers John 😉 going on what everyone’s opinion on who we should sign, would you all be happy with (unless a ‘bigger’ club or any other club than Aston Villa) Tammy, Buendia and Isaac Hayden? Assuming Jack stays and Luiz plays right mid with Hayden defensive mid?
