Now that Doncaster and Coventry’s seasons are over does anybody know if Jacob Ramsey and Callum O’hare will be eligible to play in Villa’s remaining 10 games? I heard a Rumour that the registration rule could be relaxed but I have read conflicting reports.

It would certainly be useful given that 5 subs are allowed and you never know it could make a significant difference if they were eligible to play, and in Callum’s case, it might just be enough to convince him to put pen to paper if he gets an opportunity and does well.

1.) 13 Jun 2020 10:28:47
The 3 club rule will be for next season with the transfer windows due to run until October.
The current registration debate was regarding injured players being left out I believe.

Apparently, the training sessions are hotting up now at Bodymoor Heath, and youngsters Mungo Bridge, Tyreik Wright and Louie Barry were all fully involved with the first team squad, which is very encouraging news.
With 9 on the bench and 5 substitutes allowed for the remaining games this could be a sign that the 3 of them are very much in Deano's plans. UTV.

1.) 06 Jun 2020 20:13:01
And you still couldn’t beat the unmentionables.

2.) 06 Jun 2020 20:42:16
I hope so mate, I am getting a bit excited to be honest.
I would love a youngster to come on and do a Rooney, or a Milner.

3.) 06 Jun 2020 21:41:29
Unmentionables? was it against Wolves, I could have sworn it was against West Brom . 😁.

04 Jun 2020 17:18:39
Callum O'hare is reportedly refusing to sign a new contract and therefore may well leave on a free, most likely to Coventry City.
You can hardly blame him given the limited opportunities he's had at the Villa.
So unfortunately it looks like Callum is going to join that long list of academy players who have slipped through the club's fingers.
If this does happen and we end up getting relegated and Coventry get promoted, it wouldn't surprise me if Callum comes back to haunt us next season.
I would however add, I am confident we will stay up, 🙏

1.) 04 Jun 2020 20:10:00
Hi Mark.
I am hoping its all media rubbish mate, it could also be him playing hardball through influences, he knows he has done well at Coventry.
If it is true and we do lose him, I would have to question the integrity of our Owners, and Management.

04 Jun 2020 09:30:47
Hi guys, hope everyone is keeping well and safe.
So the re-start will soon be upon us, and I must say that despite my reservations regarding the safety aspects, I am really looking forward to the games.
What do you think our chances of survival are then?

I think the break probably came at a good time for us. There was a look of resignation about the team, both during and after the last game before the lockdown against Leicester.

The team looked devoid of confidence, drive, ideas and belief and I can remember the despondent feeling amongst us all.
Hopefully though, the break will have provided the opportunity for reflection and some soul searching and fingers crossed they will return with a fresh desire and vigour.

I think with a fully fit John McGinn back in the ranks, it will be like having a new signing and that we will have every chance of survival.

1.) 04 Jun 2020 17:23:12
I hear what your saying but we weren't exactly playing swashbuckling football before McGinn got injured.

2.) 04 Jun 2020 18:10:31
True, and even if McGinn hadn’t got injured RHLT, I doubt we would have been much higher in the table, but he is one of our better players and because of the way he plays, with energy and 100% determination, I’m thinking that this may well lift the team in terms of moral and belief for these remaining crucial games.

There’s no question there are lots of areas where we need to strengthen and improve but let’s get through this period first and hopefully some of those issues will be addressed before next season kicks off, hopefully as still a premier league team.
No doubt there will be plenty to discuss on this site regarding those issues.

Chelsea must have been rubbing their hands together when Deano boringly/ predictably took Davis off again, when he was our most effective player.
He was the one player causing them problems, a right handful, there were times when they needed 2 even 3 defenders to keep him at bay.
The one thing that might, just might make a difference, playing Samatta and Davis together, Dean Smith is unwillingly to even try, I find that unbelievable.

1.) 21 Jun 2020 20:53:34
Agree with everything mate. I think we are trying we just not good enough.

13 Jun 2020 19:56:15
I see that they are planning to put “ black lives matter “ on the back of Premier league players shirts instead of their names and numbers.

Whilst this is commendable and respectful to our black communities, I can’t help feeling, a thank you to NHS frontline workers, who have put their lives on the line in recent months, would have been more appropriate.

I certainly hope that something is in the pipeline to show the football world’s appreciation of their wonderful efforts and bravery.

1.) 13 Jun 2020 22:58:37
I think we are getting a bit carried away with all this Mark.
I was saying to my Daughter last week, we should keep our noses out of it, it will only lead to riots and violence on the streets here, and hey presto its here.
Our history can not be changed, and nor should we try.
On the National Health, I think they know how the public feel, so maybe illuminated banners round the pitch would surely have the same effect mate, and less expensive.

2.) 14 Jun 2020 01:11:19
Basically people protesting against themselves. Most were born here making them British and then complain that the British did wrong hundreds of years ago.

3.) 14 Jun 2020 21:34:09
There had been racial injustice since the start of civilisation and it neither right or acceptable, what is unacceptable is the mindless extremists who probably don't understand the sacrifices millions have made for our freedom and are bent on causing as much civil unrest as they can when a country is going through such difficult times.

My best friend and brother in law is Jamaican and he is more disgusted than me over the behaviour of some of the protesters, his view, they are doing far more harm than good and are actually playing in to the hands of right wing racists. Damaging the monuments that are part of our heritage is an absolute disgrace and I hope the government implement long prison sentences for those causing criminal damage to any statues irrespective of the back ground to their existence.

4.) 15 Jun 2020 15:06:05
I think the one point being missed here is after all the constraints we have had to live under for the past three months these idiots risk all that being undone by marching in their thousands without any social distancing.

They could easily put us back in the fight against this dreaded virus. I am as anti racist as anybody but for gods sake what are these people thinking.

{Ed033's Note - They might think the C.V. only typically affects people with existing health problems and have realised that C.V. is placed on death certificates whether they died of C.V. or not [to manipulate the stats] and the true fatality rate of C.V. is less than 0.1%.

Or they've seen that the UK government say on their own web site:
"As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) in the UK" - From UK Gov web site

07 May 2020 18:23:16
Moose buddy, if you're out there, Dave would like you to contact him via e-mail, if you could,
cheers mate, 👍.

1.) 08 May 2020 09:14:29
Will do mate hope you're ok 👍.

2.) 08 May 2020 09:50:36
I’m good, hope you and your family are keeping well too mate 👍.

3.) 08 May 2020 09:59:53
I'm good mate had my 1st day back at work yesterday before going back properly Monday. A bit of a weird experience to be honest and not something my girlfriend (who lives with her daughter in her own place) was overly keen on as shes not really spoken to me since I said I was going back 😟.

4.) 08 May 2020 10:22:42
I can imagine all of this has put a lot of strain on relationships up and down the country mate.
I go back as well next Tuesday, I have a contract until the end of September, I suppose you could say I’m semi- retired now as I don’t work all year round anymore.
Good luck with the restart next week mate and I hope everything works out ok for you, 👍.

5.) 08 May 2020 10:39:26
It certainly will strain many relationships mate my mrs is kitchen manager in a pub so God knows when they'll get the go ahead to return probably be 1 of the last. Personally I'm just glad to be getting out the house as I've been rigidly sticking to the social distancing guidelines but it still makes you uneasy going back even though its outdoor work and only 2-3 on site and easy to social distance. I'm hoping the rest of the country gets a similar boost soon probably after Boris's press conference Sunday but hope its adhered to sensibly by everyone though it could cause some social unrest if it affects some and not others. Very trying times for everyone but hopefully everyone's patience and sacrifice will of paid off.

6.) 08 May 2020 11:35:56
That’s the thing Moose, if ‘everybody’ follows the personal hygiene and social distancing guidelines it will possibly be ok, but there’s always an unreliable minority isn’t there.
I don’t know, let’s hope as the lockdown is relaxed, everybody behaves responsibly in order to avoid a second wave. 🙏.

7.) 08 May 2020 11:41:37
Amen to that brother.

03 May 2020 22:28:51
I once saw a dwarf climbing down a prison wall, I thought to myself that's a little
condescending, 😁.

1.) 03 May 2020 23:03:06
Hahaha, love it Mark.

2.) 03 May 2020 23:12:43
We should forget about football, the sport of the future has to be fencing 🤺, gloves a built in mask and a nice sharp sword to prod anybody that gets within 2 mètres of you.

3.) 03 May 2020 23:24:23
I've never put fencing up with a sword before Mark be difficult to dig the post holes with that 😟.

4.) 03 May 2020 23:27:35
That’s enough excitement for one day, I’m off to bed. Don’t forget we’re an hour ahead of you lot.
Actually you never no there might still be a bit more excitement to come judging by the look on her face, nighty night😉🥂👍.

5.) 03 May 2020 23:38:37
Night all.

6.) 03 May 2020 23:41:16
Night Mary Ellen goodnight John Boy goodnight Grandma Grandpa lol oh for the simple life of the Waltons 😂😂.

29 Apr 2020 18:47:37
After making the decision to cancel the season in France one of the options under consideration for deciding final league positions, is to take the league positions at the half way point, when every team had played each other. There are apparently other options and it sounds like it will be put to a vote.
If the Premier league decide to go down the half way through the season route, unfortunately this would not be good news for us, as after 19 games we were lying in 18th place, and would therefore be relegated. 🙁.

{Ed002's Note - There is no proposal to go down such a route.}

1.) 29 Apr 2020 19:19:35
Mark whatever route is taken, there will be someone who will not be happy, unfortunately, that is part of our makeup.
However something has to be sorted, this dreadful virus that is making everyone`s life a bloody misery, is going to impact everything
we do for the foreseeable future.
Maybe, some sort of vote amongst all parties concerned, clubs, players, refs, FA, etc etc.
Or pick balls like they do in cup draws.
Bite the bullet and do something, there will be winners and losers whatever happens.

2.) 29 Apr 2020 19:21:08
I hope it stays that way Ed.

3.) 29 Apr 2020 19:32:18
Trading on a game now, BATE Borisov 2-0 Slavia Mozyr.
No atmosphere, you can even hear the tea ladies stirring their cuppa.
Whats the point in that?

4.) 29 Apr 2020 19:40:51
I agree Dave, all this uncertainty needs to come to a conclusion, it’s not fair on anybody inside or outside the football world. Hopefully tomorrow they’ll search their consciences and make the morally right decision, I do doubt it though if previous form is anything to go by.

5.) 29 Apr 2020 20:29:39
That`s just it though Mark, will they.
I would like to think you are right mate, and that their consciences help them do the right thing, most of the time we hear only information, that has been fabricated for our ears.

6.) 29 Apr 2020 21:10:12
As far as I’m aware, only Holland and France have officially declared their seasons over Dave. Germany and Spain seem very keen to resume and I have a feeling that if those countries go for a re-start the Premier league will follow suit. I hope I’m wrong Dave, I really do.

{Ed002's Note - And Belgium and DEnmark are on the cusp.}

7.) 29 Apr 2020 21:11:53
In the words of Spock " the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few " (love my movie quotes 😁) except in this case the few just want to line their pockets and everyone else and common sense be damned.

8.) 29 Apr 2020 21:14:00
Surprised the Italians haven't already surrendered 😁. Too soon?

9.) 29 Apr 2020 21:14:14
What about Italy Ed?

10.) 29 Apr 2020 21:42:11
Italian players to be tested in May, and are looking to finish the season Mark.

11.) 29 Apr 2020 22:01:06
Can’t help feeling if one of the 4 main leagues, Serie A, La Liga, Premier league or Bundesliga made the decision to call it a day, then the others would follow.

12.) 29 Apr 2020 23:42:39
I can't argue with that Mark.

Jack is a player in demand from several clubs, so that should help keep the price up. The more parties that are interested the better. If we stay up I would think we would be in a better bargain position and of course you never know Jack might want to stay anyway.

No problem John, I’ve done the same myself mate, we all have.
What I will say is the appointment of Mark Harrison was I think a statement of intent, he has an excellent reputation for bringing young players through. we have to be patient with the current owners, a lot of mistakes were made before their takeover, only time will tell but I do get the impression they have the right intentions.

John, I mentioned about the Callum O’hare situation in the post below mate. I’m not sure Jack was much better than Callum is now, when he first broke into the first team John. Jack has obviously come on leaps and bounds since being given the opportunities, and there’s the rub, our promising young players have to be given those opportunities.

No Dave, they won’t just let us win, but you would think teams in those mid-table positions would have one eye on finishing the season intact and therefore starting next season fully fit. Why risk playing with maximum intensity for nothing.
By contrast we have everything to play for and today the players showed what I was hoping to see before now, FIGHT and it may, or it may not make all the difference, let’s hope it’s the former.

Palace, Everton and Arsenal don’t really have a lot to play for and I think West Ham will be safe by the time we get to play them.
If we show the same level of fight and togetherness those games are winnable.
Yes, they need to start taking their chances but I think the goals will come. I also think Deano should give Louie Barry a chance if Davis and Samatta can’t find the back of the net maybe he could, well worth a try I think. He’s scored goals at every level he’s played at who’s to say he can’t do it at this level. Deano won’t know for sure until he gives him a chance.

Still 5 games to go though Scotty, I’ll take 17th at the end mate, wouldn’t you?
Despite the defeat, which let’s face it was expected, I saw a glimmer of hope today, fighting spirit and togetherness, qualities we’ve been lacking for most of the season.

We were much better Chris and I find it hard to believe that anybody thought we would get anything from this game, given the quality of their players compared to ours. Look at the table guys, how many points have Liverpool dropped this season.
Yet for 70 minutes Liverpool didn’t look like scoring, and we probably had the better chances to take the lead.
How often this season has our defense looked vulnerable from the off this season? Yet today we did actually look reasonably comfortable against the best there is.
So I think there were positives to take from this game and if they continue to play like that we could just survive, why not? Watford and Bournemouth don’t look any better than us.
Other positives were the performances of Luiz and McGinn, who played his best game since his return and Mings was an absolute rock at the back.
So come on guys, get behind your team. UTV.

The commitment and fight was better than it usually is, and they created a reasonable of chances. Against arguably the best team in Europe, I thought they competed well.
We’re only one point off 17th place, so there’s still hope.
