It’s gone really quiet on this site, so ok you Villains, here’s the Boxing anagram challenge as promised.
Listed below are 24 heavyweights past and present who hold or have held a version or versions of the World title. I have also included 6 other great former world champions from other weight divisions in there, just to work the brain cells that little bit harder.
I know from previous posts that many of you are boxing fans, so no excuses lads.
Come on, let’s get ready to rumble ;

1. ZERO FIRE AJ
2. COR YORK MANIAC
3. HAT ON SMASHER
4.SEX NONE WILL
5. KICK TIL HOT ALVIS
6. I. O. U. JESLO
7. DAY I’D HAVE
8. NO SKY TIME
9. URN FOR BANK
10. JAG ZEAL ECHO
11. JAY PECKS MED
12. MR. HERO SALLY
13. RING HARM VALE
14. NOT LYON SINS
15. SUN FRY TOY
16. RAGE GONE FOR ME
17. RON ON KENT
18. ROTTEN FLOP DAYS
19. BORN DARE TOUR
20. JANY SHOUT NOAH
21. MAJOR NANS GO SHINE
22. HI RED BEE HI
23. FATHERLY WAY DEMO
24. WON’T PROMISE HIT
25. COLETE TRY JOE’S JAW
26. LOVE FAIRY HELD END
27. HIM WILL KO STAR DICK
28. A LARRY RAGE SOUND
29. DRY WINE TO LEAD.
30. HAUL MAM MAID

Best of luck guys and don’t forget to stay safe.

It would appear then, that this challenge didn’t appeal to fellow Villa fans. I clearly misjudged the situation thinking that many of you were boxing fans, and that you might of enjoyed this. It’s a shame, for me anyway that is, because It took a few hours to put together, but hey fair enough guys, my mistake, no worries, stay safe everybody 👍.

2.) 05 Apr 2020 19:38:40
Don't think its been a reflection on you or the quiz mate its been extremely quiet on here for a few days as I presume the majority of us are starting to feel the strain of the lockdown. Isolation especially if you're not able to be with loved ones can have a very detrimental effect on your own sanity. If it's any consolation I think I managed about 5 because my boxing knowledge isn't great. Everyone try and keep sane, safe and healthy. Now where's my medication? 😁.

3.) 05 Apr 2020 20:04:04
Appreciate what you’re saying Moose, with that in mind, I’ll perhaps leave it at that now for the anagram challenges.
I’ll post the answers anyway at the weekend, cheers mate 👍.

4.) 05 Apr 2020 20:31:09
No problem Mark I might do one for Eurovision song contest winners! Pmsl not really think I'd rather boil my own head in oil (sorry any Eurovision fans) 😂😂.

5.) 05 Apr 2020 21:39:31
I just had a thought Ed, perhaps you could try putting it on your Boxing talk site.

{Ed033's Note - ok thanks

6.) 06 Apr 2020 17:49:14
I'm not a fan of boxing, managed to squeeze a few I know into the anagrams there to get to around 10 or so but those are all well known ones so not worth shouting about.

7.) 06 Apr 2020 18:55:19
Ok, thanks for participating rk, I was hoping for a better response but as Moose said yesterday the lockdown is more than likely getting people down now, and I can understand that.
Ed033 put it on the boxing talk site and one of the guys on there managed to get them all, so for me that’s made it worthwhile, cheers mate 👍.

30 Mar 2020 17:12:08
Think I might have them MD but not 100% sure. I was puzzling for ages on no. 12.
I would have it if there was an extra o.
Would you mind checking it please mate.

markdavfrance

1.) 30 Mar 2020 17:17:23
My mistake MD, you’re anagram for 12 is correct .
Sorry mate. 😉👍.

23 Mar 2020 21:31:49
On a lighter note folks, would anybody be interested in another anagram challenge.
I know at least 3 people gave it a go with the last one with Pluffy becoming the eventual winner.
I have a new one ready to go, this time the subject is football grounds / stadiums but I’m reluctant to post it if there isn’t much interest, so I will wait and see if I get any responses to this post first.

1.) 23 Mar 2020 22:06:35
I am up for it Mark, I have to pick my sit down times, wife has a huge whip mate, haha.

2.) 23 Mar 2020 23:44:44
Hi Mark I am up for another one, it will pass some time whilst under house arrest so to speak.

3.) 24 Mar 2020 11:24:28
Me too.

4.) 24 Mar 2020 19:29:38
Ok guys, 3 replies then, that’s alright, but let’s hope a few more have a go as well. Below are 16 anagrams of football grounds mostly in England. There is an extra element to this challenge though.
When you have worked out the 16 grounds, take the 1st letter of each ground, so obviously you’ll have 16 letters, this will effectively be the 17th anagram and will reveal the name of the ground of a top club;

1. ROBUST MAID XI.
2. ED LEAPED
3. DRALL DEANO
4. ER GOT AV ACCENT
5. UPON MAC
6. REVISIT MID USA RED
7. FAN LIED
8. TRAP DAN ROOM
9. ON MONDIAL DUST
10. WE DO RAP OK
11. RAC DOOR WAR
12. JAPS MARKETS
13. WASN’T REDS
14. TIME YOU SAID MASTER
15. PAID STUPID MARKER
16. OH! A STROLL

Good luck to everybody that has a go. I wonder, will Pluffy
retain the title.

5.) 25 Mar 2020 15:39:17
Hi Mark.

Think I got them apart from number 14. Are you sure the anagram for 14 hasn't got an extra Y and O in there, otherwise I can see an answer for that one!

6.) 25 Mar 2020 15:55:56
No, 14 is ok MD.

7.) 25 Mar 2020 16:09:13
Darn. That's confusing as I got No 17 on the basis of my guess of No 14. Back to the drawing board .

8.) 25 Mar 2020 16:12:01
Is there anybody else close to getting them all?

9.) 25 Mar 2020 16:18:23
Tell me what you thought 17 was MD.

10.) 25 Mar 2020 16:40:30
Le Parc Des Princes.

11.) 25 Mar 2020 16:49:00
Presumably you’ve got 14 then ?

12.) 25 Mar 2020 16:50:40
Its just 14 I'm struggling with.

13.) 25 Mar 2020 17:00:55
Le Parc des Princes, I’m happy to say is the correct answer, MD, really well done, great effort, hope you enjoyed the challenge mate,
I declare you Anagram king 👑😆👍.

14.) 25 Mar 2020 17:02:59
How did everybody else get on, hope it wasn’t too frustrating 😩.

15.) 25 Mar 2020 17:03:04
I guessed the first letter of 14 as it was the only one missing from the anagram for 17. I have all the others (I think! )

16.) 25 Mar 2020 17:08:28
Ok but you got the all important 17th which I thought was going to be really difficult, so that’s good enough for me mate. I’m surprised you’re struggling with 14, as I thought that would have been one of the first everybody would have got.

17.) 25 Mar 2020 17:12:19
Merci bien, Monsieur! I'll now have to spend all evening on my real job since I've spent all afternoon on your very entertaining quiz. The joys of working from home 😊😊.

18.) 25 Mar 2020 17:17:41
Perhaps you could just send you’re answers, when you’re ready mate 👍.

19.) 25 Mar 2020 17:27:41
Did anybody else get close to solving it?

20.) 25 Mar 2020 17:40:44
Good quiz mark couldn't get 1 and 16 but judging by the anagram for 17 and the letters I've got probably got a few wrong lol look forward to you printing the right answers though might shoot down a few more thanks for the brain training.

21.) 25 Mar 2020 18:22:07
Cheers Moose, glad you gave it a go, a good go by the sounds of it. Hope you enjoyed it, if I get enough positive feedback I may just compose another. Or maybe somebody else, like yourself for instance, could put something together.
I’ve asked MD to post his answers, so hopefully you’ll see them later mate, 😄👍.

22.) 25 Mar 2020 18:27:27
As below - you can see why I thought 14 had a spare Y and O Obviously I'm not correct on that one .

1. ROBUST MAID XI. Ibrox Stadium
2. ED LEAPED Deepdale
3. DRALL DEANO Elland Road
4. ER GOT AV ACCENT Craven Cottage
5. UPON MAC Nou Camp
6. REVISIT MID USA RED Riverside Stadium
7. FAN LIED Anfield
8. TRAP DAN ROOM Portman Road
9. ON MONDIAL DUST London Stadium
10. WE DO RAP OK Ewood Park
11. RAC DOOR WAR Carrow Road
12. JAPS MARKETS St James Park
13. WASN’T REDS St Andrews
14. TIME YOU SAID MASTER Emirates Stadium YO
15. PAID STUPID MARKER Pride Park Stadium
16. OH! A STROLL Roots Hall

17. LE PARC DES PRINCES.

23.) 25 Mar 2020 19:08:53
Well done MD.
I must admit I only got 7 which was miserable.

So the crown passes over.

Pluffy.

24.) 25 Mar 2020 17:35:47
De rien MD tu mérite bien la couronne mon pote 👍.

25.) 25 Mar 2020 20:44:04
Can’t win them all Pluffy, better luck next time mate or maybe you could create something?

26.) 25 Mar 2020 21:11:47
Had another quick look and 1 and 16 came to me lol tho 14 I had st mary stadium so was well wrong on that one . D'oh 😂😂.

27.) 25 Mar 2020 21:22:43
Great effort all the same, well done mate.

28.) 25 Mar 2020 23:26:35
Alors, quelle était la réponse au numéro 14 Villa Mark Français.

29.) 26 Mar 2020 08:03:02
It’s clearly not just Dave that can speak a bit of French on this site MD.
Tu avais raison éventuellement avec ta réponse pour le numéro quatorze, Emirates Stadium, bravo. 👍👍.

30.) 26 Mar 2020 08:13:32
But of course now known as Emirates Stadium Yo, 😂.

31.) 26 Mar 2020 10:37:34
Morning guys hope you're all safe and well. Got my head round a new anagram quiz for World Cup Goalscorers they don't make a lot of sense. probably why I got kicked out of NASA lol so here goes
1 A ROME GRILL
2 SAME ROPE KIM
3 SAT SCORE
4 TAG BORE ROB GIO
5 HOP R JENNY
6 A PUB RUN LAIRD
7 IE AHA RAN
8 I PRICK KURT VALET
9 O SO KILL VASE MR
10 DR GLUM REEL
11 HONEST JONS
12 LEECH MAGE RIM
13 HOIST CILLA VALE CARS
14 DRAMA SAVE CARROLL
15 BI BEAR KNEE
I was going to do 16 but the permanently linked Benni McCarthy melted my brain so bonus point if you come up with a good 1. Good luck and stay safe.

21 Mar 2020 12:41:16
Imagine the scenario, all matches played behind closed doors, all players to wear masks and most importantly, no player allowed to be within 1 mètre of an opponent.
This would suit us perfectly because our players haven’t been within 1 mètre of opposing players all season. 😆😆😆.

19 Mar 2020 17:04:12
I have composed a little challenge for everybody. Something a bit different that you can’t just look on google to find the answers.
Below is an alternative all time Aston Villa team but in anagram form. I have also named
7 subs.
Thé 11 players I have selected are in no particular order, that’s to say goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders and strikers mixed up.
Some are easier than others and once solved the 4-4-2 formation should be obvious.
It’s not necessarily the best ever Villa team but it’s certainly not a bad one.
So come on, why not give it a go, all Ed’s are more than welcome to participate.

Team;
train it bell
talks warmer
have comments
cole x player
av’s invested
gay randy
charleys rag
glum art chap
rib shock man
own tin maker
aunts vet notes

Subs;

pink single
tripe he wet
no jaw cher
eves the god
a lease hunt
star art guy
tear barrel

Good luck guys 😄.

1.) 19 Mar 2020 20:57:46
A great idea and challenge Mark, I have 5 names so far, maybe 6.
I am having to do it when I get a chance.
Well done mate.

2.) 19 Mar 2020 21:44:39
Some of the players were in the other teams various people chose in their teams last week but not many. Glad you’re having a go Dave, I hope you’re not the only one though. I just thought while we’re all stuck at home with no football to watch it might give people something to think about.

3.) 19 Mar 2020 23:11:05
10 plus a guess. Being born 87 a few of those are before my time 😉.

4.) 19 Mar 2020 23:12:17
Make it 11 plus a guess, no idea how I missed what the first one was!

5.) 20 Mar 2020 08:21:36
None of the players are from recent eras rk, mainly 70s/ 80’s.

6.) 20 Mar 2020 11:04:26
I await the first correct side with subs.
Sounds like rk is going to be first to the post or will there be a late bid from someone. The suspense is killing me, ha
🤔, who’s going to be crowned the anagram champion.
👑.

7.) 20 Mar 2020 12:15:33
I have just noticed a small error, the second sub is missing a t, so should be treat barrel and not tear barrel,
my apologies 🤭.

8.) 20 Mar 2020 13:03:36
All of them I think although
Rib shock man was difficult especially when you read it as Rip shock man.

Old age setting in I think.

9.) 20 Mar 2020 13:18:01
Hi Mark
Here is my answer
Brian little. 1
Mark walters. 2
Steve Mcmahon 3
Alex Cropley 4
Steven Davis 5
Andy gray 6
Gary charles. 7
Paul McGrath 8
Mark Bosnich 9
Martin Keown 10
Steve Staunton. 11

Subs
Nigel spink.
Peter withe.
Jon Carew
Steve Hodge
Shaun Teale
Stuart Gray
Earl Barrett

Pluffy.

10.) 20 Mar 2020 15:17:25
Congratulations pluffy, I crown you anagram champion, well done mate 👑😄👍.

11.) 20 Mar 2020 15:37:36
Can I ask, how long did it take you to work it out Pluffy, and would you be interested in tackling something similar again, the same applies to anybody else that had a go, let me know.

Or perhaps somebody else might like to have a go at composing a challenge.

12.) 20 Mar 2020 18:37:39
I got all but 3,4,8,9 and the last sub in about 10-15 minutes last night. Earl Barrett then popped into my head just as I was nodding off lol.
Well done pluffy.

13.) 20 Mar 2020 19:21:19
Hi Mark, I did reply earlier but it seems to have been lost.
It took about 3 hours in fits and starts.
I did have a senior moment when I read one clue wrong and got Mark Posnich instead of Bosnich.
I think if there were more foreign players in it would be harder as most people get the first name almost immeadiately.

I look forward to the next one, it will pass the time in quarantine.

14.) 20 Mar 2020 20:32:01
Thanks for that pluffy, it must have taken me at least 3 hours to devise it. Hear what you’re saying about the foreign players, I’ll definitely bear that in mind.

Don’t get me wrong Dave I like your attitude towards these
people. Unfortunately I don’t think our manager is of the same mentality and I expect it will all be brushed under the carpet because it’s Jack, who has a separate rule book to everybody else.

You don’t take prisoners do you Dave, but I am inclined to agree with you mate.
Also, off pitch antics aside, I think the way we play has become far too predictable. It all has to go through Grealish and opposing teams I feel, have learnt how to deal with that.
I think we need to learn how to play more collectively and that Jon McGinn should be made captain, as of now.
I hope the club are doing all they can to try and tie Callum O’Hare down to a new contract. He’s come on leaps and bounds since going to Coventry and could I feel fill the void . If MU want to do business, I would like to see Axel Tuanzebe coming our way as part of the deal. I think Mattic would be a good option for us as well, a quality defensive midfielder with bags of experience. Acquiring their services would go a long way to sorting out our defensive frailties. Until we sort the goal leaking problem out we’re always going to struggle. So I think 60 million plus these 2 players would be good business.
What do you think guys?

Read the article Moose. I agree with Juan Pablo Angels response to it. He is captain of our club and should lead by example not just on the pitch but off it as well. If he is incapable of doing that then he shouldn’t be captain of our great club.
Why should having wonderful god given ability give him a divine right to just do as he pleases. He is a very lucky person to be blessed with such ability, so is this the way to show his gratitude for that?
