Deal agreed for ferdi kadioglu if you can believe the press, RB from fenerbache

Whackattack

1.) 16 Apr 2024 21:43:51
Which specific press is claiming that?

2.) 17 Apr 2024 17:36:50
Looked at him, he can play either side, looks handy .

3.) 18 Apr 2024 13:37:06
Not sure DBS it was last week, it wasn’t sky.

4.) 18 Apr 2024 14:22:15
Some back tracking over whether we are interested in Kadioglu or not, seems like a number of premiership clubs are interested including Arsenal. We are also allegedly interested in Denzel Dumfries at Inter but he supposedly needs some convincing re the stature of the club which tells me he isn’t really interested so maybe we should move on and Ben Johnson from West Ham whose available on a free I have to say I struggle to understand that one he can’t get into West Ham first team so to my mind he isn’t an upgrade on Matty Cash but we will have to wait and see I guess.

26 Mar 2024 02:46:38
So after all the talk of arsenal wanting luiz in the summer, and huge admirers of Watkins, the latest is they are now interested in Bailey, seriously is there any truth in any of these stories or are all these journalists just playing pin the tail on the donkey in the hope they eventually get one right?‍♂️
How are they fixed in relation to ffp, they have spent quiet a few Bob the last few seasons and I'm sure they have quiet the wage bill, any ED's able to shed any light on their current financial situation?

Whackattack

{Ed002's Note - Douglas Luiz (CM/DM) Juventus failed with an offer of a straight swap deal for Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz in the summer. Arsenal interest has moved on to a preferred option but if they are unable to sign him and if Partey or Jorginho move on, then interest may return. Spurs may offer an option. Aston Villa will resist a sale. Wildcard would be a return to Manchester City to replace KP.
Ollie Watkins (S) Agent is looking for options and has spoken with Arsenal. Aston Villa want a new contract,

I am not aware of interest in Bailey.}

1.) 26 Mar 2024 12:50:05
We shouldn’t be surprised at our top performers attracting interest from other clubs, over the last 18 months we have gone from being a side on the edge of the relegation zone to challenging for European football that will attract interest from the top sides. We have protected ourselves somewhat by getting Bailey, Watkins and Luiz to sign new contracts recently so we are in the driving seats when it comes to sales. That said however I do think that we are likely to let one of our stars go in the summer in order to ease any profitability and sustainability pressures.

2.) 26 Mar 2024 22:14:24
Cheers Ed?

3.) 27 Mar 2024 21:08:11
Ed just as a matter of interest, who was the juve player they wanted to swap for luiz?

{Ed002's Note - Moise Kean and Weston McKennie.}

4.) 28 Mar 2024 11:34:33
Thank god we had good sense ?

28 Jan 2024 18:29:20
Rumours are we bid close to 15 million for rogers? Is he worth it I wonder?

Whackattack

1.) 28 Jan 2024 20:21:13
I would say yes because he better than duran in my opinion, and hasn't got a bad attitude

2.) 29 Jan 2024 16:55:39
3rd bid rejected, move on he’s not worth anymore, 2 championship goals, there are better players out there imo

3.) 30 Jan 2024 01:37:08
Agree he's not worth any more 15 mil is pushing it move on too some1 else

4.) 30 Jan 2024 08:13:11
Papers have changed their mind to say the bid was only £7.5m.
£15m was way too high considering reports were they only wanted £10m.
Some of the inflated figures we may see will probably include any sell on percentage on top of any other clauses.
I'm not convinced he'll make much difference as the noise only seems to have come from a couple of cup matches. We do need more competition on that left side though and he's not overly expensive at anything less than £10m.

02 Jan 2024 21:39:46
Cyril ngonge of Hellas Verona, never heard of him but I read a report saying we had a 9 million bid accepted for him. the money seems about right, I can't see us spending more than 30 million across 2 or 3 players

Whackattack

1.) 03 Jan 2024 11:43:09
His stats are good, and there is a video of him doing a scorpion kick goal similar to Girou for Arsenal a few years back. Looks like he's going to Fiorentina though.

2.) 03 Jan 2024 14:27:46
Villa56 I have seen a report we have a verbal agreement for him, just personal terms and medical to sort out. Monchi appears to be all over this one.

23 Aug 2023 00:36:09
I see a link claiming we're interested in Marcus alonso on the news feed tonight. would bring lots of experience

Refreshing to see the calibre of names linked with villa, some interesting free agents in Europe aswel, can't wait for the window to open proper

Whackattack

1.) 21 May 2024 15:35:33
Gonna be exciting whack, i think we could get 1 major signing and 3 good squad players

2.) 21 May 2024 19:07:06
Who are these free agents? I’m always looking at Transfer Market to see who’s got a year or 2 left on their contracts. Talking of contracts, can you see Villa going the Chelsea route, tying players down for 6 or 7 years, so bigger transfer fees can be payed over a longer period, FFP and all that? As an example, I’d guess Jonathan David would cost around £30M, he’s 24, 6 year contract, so my guess we pay or declare £5M per season as his fee, think he’s on less than £10K pw now, 6 years of a guaranteed £100K pw would be hard to turn down, I think that’s how it works ??‍♂️

UTV

3.) 21 May 2024 20:51:56
Adrian rabiot is one I read about today.
Uefa closed that loophole with the long contracts.

4.) 21 May 2024 19:37:01
72, I believe 6 or 7 year contracts are no longer allowed. Perhaps one of our Edds can comment?

{Ed002's Note - Clubs can only use contracts for five years to account for the costs.}

5.) 21 May 2024 21:25:11
The following are I believe available on frees.
Ndidi, and I henacho from Leicester
Hermoso from Athletico Madrid
Rabiot from Juventus
Schmeichel from Nice

6.) 22 May 2024 05:14:23
If that’s the case about contracts, shouldn’t the fee paid for someone you can only have for 5 years be much less? Like if you were buying a car, you wouldn’t pay top dollar for 1 that you could potentially scrap in 5 years time. I know you could have it serviced (contract extension) to keep it longer before anybody says anything lol, but thinking long term you’d want a better deal on purchase to counteract those costs? (season’s only just finished and I must be bored already ?)

UTV

7.) 22 May 2024 07:05:12
You can agree any length contract with the player, 5 years is just the max for PSR amortisation.

8.) 22 May 2024 08:41:08
Cheers RK ??

UTV

9.) 22 May 2024 14:25:45
Rabiot would be a class signing and hermosa, i'd go for ndidi aswell

10.) 22 May 2024 14:58:12
Only problem I’d have with Rabiot is that he comes across as someone who’d think he’s bigger than Villa, and I’d guess he’d want £250K+ per week minimum ??‍♂️

UTV

11.) 22 May 2024 19:05:28
I’ve read somewhere that Rabiot is on £190K pw inc bonuses, he got that after joining Juve on a free, when he was mid 20’s and coming to his peak. Surely he wouldn’t command the same amount now that he’s 29 coming up to 30, I’m guessing that his next contract would be his last on high wages so would try squeezing as much as possible out of his next club?

19 May 2024 17:20:35
Never any doubt that Olsen would concede a bucket load, my only hope is that it's his last ever game for villa, stats don't lie he's a joke and nowhere near premier league level, I'm quiet surprised he didn't give the new kid a chance when we had nothing to lose, let's face it there was never any chance of winning this one with Olsen in goal and chambers anywhere near the starting 11.

Whackattack

1.) 19 May 2024 17:48:14
The majority of Olsens appearances come when we massively change the side. What is he supposed to do when half the team in front of him are all over the place?
Of course he's not at the level of Martinez, it's literally not possible to get a second choice goalkeeper at that level unless you can afford to pay £100k+ a week for someone to play a handful of games a season.
I can guarantee though that most of the games Olsen concedes a hatful, Emi might concede 1 less if you put the same team in front of him.
Everyone says replace Olsen but never come up with a sensible solution. Gauci might turn out to be quality but it's better to save him for pre season, he's only ever played in Australia which is barely League 2 level, and that's being generous.

2.) 19 May 2024 18:19:49
Stats don’t lie RK, not sure why you keep defending him, at least 3 of those goals today a half decent keeper would at least get a hand to them but they were in the net before he knew what happened.
It’s not just his keeping, he’s not suitable to play out from the back he’s to indecisive he telegraphs the short passes and ends up getting the ball back immediately and having to hoof it and give away possession constantly. the defence is a bag of nerves when he’s in goal cause they have no confidence in him. there were bigger issues today, Carlos and lenglet were awful, Carlos has a few good games but he’s not a top 4 or 5 defender and needs upgrading imo, midfield was missing for most of the game, we desperately need another Bailey like attacker who can take on defenders, Diaby is good running into space but he’s not great running at defenders, Emery made the right calls today no point risking Bailey, rogers or tielemans when we had nothing to play for, not sure why Martinez wasn’t in the squad. I still would of played Gauci for the experience, I stand by my comments, Olsen is a disgrace and wouldn’t be first choice in the championship let alone champions league if we needed him. goal keepers have more to do than just stop shots, a good keeper can help control a game and also organise his defence, he can’t do any of those things. I don’t expect us to have a spare keeper on 100k a week don’t be daft, name a worse keeper in the premier league? Better to have a young keeper that can learn from Martinez as backup than someone who’s finished at this level and has proven time and time again that he’s a liability, he has no confidence in himself it’s no surprise that the players have none in him either, his day is done at villa watch the space

3.) 19 May 2024 18:37:52
1 young gk i do rate is james trafford he's going to be good

{Ed001's Note - is he? In what way? He is a terrible shot stopper and consistently kicks the ball into touch in a panic when asked to play out from the back. He is dog muck. Nearly cost England in the U21s last summer.}

4.) 19 May 2024 18:49:48
I turned off after 4-0 but which of those should he have saved? Please don't say the Eze one for 3-0 otherwise you need help.
I don't think Olsen is good enough but it's still an outfield problem first and foremost, no goalkeeper would have changed the negative results we've had with him in goal solely because the outfield create so many problems.
We are a team that can handle rotating 2, maybe 3 players. As soon as we are getting up to 4,5,6 players it just becomes a mess regardless of their individual abilities.

5.) 19 May 2024 19:05:16
Also, stays very much do lie. Put Martinez in Sheffield Uniteds goal and he's conceding a lot of goals.
Before you say that is putting him in a different team, that's essentially what Olsen is being asked to do most of the time, play in an almost completely different team.

6.) 19 May 2024 19:08:20
In fairness I agree Olsen isn’t good enough but I don’t think it’s entirely his fault as he is being asked to play in a way that doesn’t suit him ie with the ball at his feet and as you say Whack whatever version of the back four we play it is clear they have little confidence in him.

I think he will be gone come the start of the new season. In terms of who we replace him with I guess that depends what you want, whenever I see Kelleher at Liverpool play he looks like a quality operator to me, but he won’t come cheap and I am not sure he would go from playing second fiddle at Anfield to perform the same role at Villa. A cheap option available I believe on a free is Kasper Schmeichel giving him a 12 month contract whilst we see how Gauci develops might not be a bad option.

I see Eze got 2 today I really wish rather than the names being touted we would move for him, he can play anywhere across the midfield he knows the league and wouldn’t take time to adapt, he has been great with Palace but if you stuck him in with better players, I think he would make a real difference. Still it’s been a great season.
UTV.

7.) 19 May 2024 20:58:31
You have your opinion RK and I have mine it’s obvious we won’t agree on this topic so no point arguing about it, if you read my comments completely you will see I said we had other problems ie defence and midfield also today, he’s played 1 full game for us where he hasn’t let in at least 3 if I was to guess. I also didn’t say he should of saved eze shot but 3 times the ball was in the net today before he dived because he’s asleep, his building from the back also had us constantly under pressure causing more goals, you have sympathy for him but I don’t have sympathy for anyone earning thousands every week to do a job he’s not capable of.

8.) 19 May 2024 21:46:12
If we do replace Olsen, let's just bookmark this so we can all see the same posts next time we play a massively changed team that concedes goals.

18 May 2024 00:13:39
Seems to have gone under the radar about Watkins winning villas players and fans player of the season, congrats to him it's well deserved after 40 goal involvements?
Duran v palace got goal of the season and Emi got some kind of award for his personal achievements. didn't see who got young player of the season.
fingers crossed for Emery to win manager of the season, he has achieved so much on so much less than the big guns this last calendar year.

Whackattack

1.) 18 May 2024 07:55:48
I don't think there was a young player of the season, at least for the first team.
Maybe the club feel like it's more motivation to those players that they have to be better than everyone to pick up one of the 2 senior awards.

15 May 2024 06:30:02
So when teams had to put on their big boy pants and make a final push for 4th spurs went on a run of 5 defeats in their last 6 premiership games while villa closed it out with 3 draws, 2 wins and 1 loss, all the while fitting in 4 European games in the same time period and with a threadbare squad to top it off, there can be no doubt that the team deserving of 4th got their just reward ??

Whackattack

14 May 2024 22:23:52
Well city done us a favour but let's not forget it wasn't all 1 way and we helped them even more by taking 6 points off the gunners.
Birmingham in league one next season and villa in the champions league, couldn't of asked for a better season if we are all honest, NSWE have delivered on their 5 year plan, who would of thought we would be here right now if we were asked before the break in the league because of covid a few years back, thanks to Deano, thanks to Emery, thanks to NSWE and thanks to the players.
For the second season on the trot we are upgrading where we will be doing our shopping, I can't wait to see what our squad looks like next season

Well said mate. Been a long road and plenty of ups and downs, but all credit to the owners, management (past and present), players and fans who have all contributed to an incredible progression in recent years. Very proud to be part of this club. Going to be an exciting summer!

Transfer season is coming up Scot maybe support Birmingham next season in league one, everyone is disappointed tonight but your constant negativity all season is a real downer it’s being a brilliant season, our team is jaded and missing key players, some for weeks, some for months and a couple for the entire season, so why wouldn’t it catch up on us eventually our squad is threadbare at the minute, from where we were to where we are on the budget we had is outstanding, I’m disappointed but I’m also very proud.

This is probably our most important game out of the remaining ones, I think we need to go all out to beat them and if we put 9 points between us and spurs before they play it will totally demoralise them and then it should be very achievable to get a result or 2 from our last 3 games.

Im on the fence on this one, last time he was here he wasn’t fit enough, probably partly because he was getting very little game time at Chelsea, he’s had a good season with Luton, if the fee is not crazy and wages are modest I’m for giving him a chance, I do think Emery can make him better aswel. he might not be a player who starts every week but he’s a player that could at least come on every week, we need depth and he fits that profile imo.
