So it's possible we kick off the first game without Rogers, Tielemans, Watkins, Konsa, Onana, Martinez, Bogarde. Yes, we have some incomings; however, no team can possibly be without the number of established players and not be at our previous best.

I hear In Emery we trust; however, he is a great coach. Unfortunately, he is not a magician. The early games will give us an idea if we are going to be competitive, hopefully we are.

The amount of supposedly in the know pundits who have mocked set piece coaches is ridiculous. Villa scored more set piece goals than most Euro teams, so it shows it works. I hope to God you are right, Daz. I read that Unai was fine re the sale of Rogers as the club had discussed the issue well in advance and had an approach to his sale that everyone was happy with. However, he was really pissed off about the release clauses in the Tielemans and Digne contracts as allegedly he knew nothing about them.

I hope we don't get to the stage where he thinks he can't kick on from where we are and he jumps ship as well.

Just read an interesting article which covered restrictive practices in business. One of the elements that needs to be considered by any business is whether any action the business takes limits fair competition. It seems to me that the spending cap that is PSR/SCR fits that categorisation.

Clearly there must be some reason why that doesn’t apply, otherwise I’m sure some of the clubs, like ourselves and Newcastle, would have tried to go down that road previously, but surely something needs to be done to even the playing field.

Only reason I can see for us having Garnacho is that Mbaye is off to Citeh to then be loaned out to some Mickey Mouse European team. If the only business we did (not taking into account any outgoings) from now till the end of the window was Mbaye & Estupinan, I'd have been more than happy.

All the posts say we’ve signed Garnacho, can’t say he’s one I wanted. We have seen occasionally that he has ability, it’s just that he doesn’t alway use it, also his attitude seems a bit off. Emery must think there’s a player he can work with, and improve, we know that Emery can work his magic, with Garnacho I’m hoping he can. UTV

I’ve never liked Garnacho but he is better than Bailey and Guessand and even better than Sancho so I will be giving him a clean slate if he arrives. I’m sure Unai won’t stand for any bad behaviour from him so it could be a good move depending on loan terms and option to buy price.

I would have preferred Summerville but Saudi’s have priced everybody out.
Let’s not forget we have Allyson and Madjo to come in who are like new signings so could end up with a decent squad.

I saw a stat earlier that Chelsea's win % when he started was around 76%, and was less than 30% when he didn't.
When I've watched him, he has the potential to frustrate, but provides pace and directness we don't really have.

That is a true stat, RK. Some were writing him off before he started for us. I remember a certain Mr Malen somewhere saying he wasn't good enough for us. We need strength in depth, and I believe he is going to surprise some pundits and fans alike.

Sounds like the Garnacho loan deal is near enough done! Although it says with conditional obligation to buy, makes it sound like the same situation with Harvey Elliott so he might not get that many games.
Not keen on the player myself because I think he is too arrogant about his ability and too lazy off the ball, but if anyone can change him then Unai can.


If he disrupts the dressing room too much then I can see only one winner in that situation, a bit like Duran being shipped out.

Do you think we could swap Bailey and get Uncle Albert back Haha, at least he can cross the ball with both feet. Some of the kids looked good, Big Brian, two good goals, Cisse looked class, and Alyson looks very good, getting back to fitness.

Some of the other academy lads looked the part as well, be interesting the rest of the friendlies to see who gets a game. UTV

The youngsters gave a good account of themselves, few nice goals in there as well.
And, my word, Madjo, he is a unit. Hard to believe he's only 17, quick enough for a big guy, he will be a handful for defenders.
