Ed's can you clarify something for me, a couple of rumours doing the rounds suggest we are interested in players on loan to buy options, however we already have Garnacho and Wan Bissaka on such arrangements I didn't think you could have more than 2 loans a season and therefore we can't do these type of deals am I right?
{Ed001's Note - that is loans from Prem clubs at a time is limited to 2 and a maximum of 4 in a season. So if they are loan to buy from abroad they would be allowed.}
24 Aug 2026 22:52:39
Cheers Eds
{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

Tomori of AC Milan, Ordenaz of Brugge and Leao of Milan, plus Jackson or Mattea of Eagles.
24 Aug 2026 20:33:15
I wouldn't be surprised if Rogers is on the phone later telling Emi, Chelsea desperately need a goalkeeper, especially after the goal they just conceded from Fulham.

Unfortunately I have been confined to barracks today, so Sky Sports has been permanently on. Switching between the TV, Twitter, news outlets. The overwhelming numbers are concerned for us this season, not one mentions the quality we will have available once the players injured are available. Sky stats regarding minutes we will have lost with our top players being sold versus every other Premier Leagues ins and outs we were the worst in the league by a country mile.
This is obviously a worry, but time will tell if the stats turn into reality. I genuinely feel the overwhelming concerns for us could be somewhere near the mark, we have had a good couple of years, unfortunately you get used to success and I can't imagine not fighting for Champions League, Europa League and the Premier League top table. Time will tell and I suppose the mantra in "Emery We Trust' will keep us all hoping his quality will see our success continue.

Dave, I saw a bit of the transfer showcase, an older bloke on there, didn't catch his name but he was raving about Villa and Emery. He was telling them off in a way, saying you just don't know and realise how good Emery is.
Then he went through the Emery whole CV; if I hadn't been a believer, he would have sold it to me. HaHa. Right, in what you're saying, get these Emery choices in, and injuries sorted, and away we go. UTV

This season was always going to be transitional. We knew we had to get rid of some of those players on big salaries, but I admit I didn’t envisage it to be as huge as it has turned out to be. Once September is here, and Unai Emery knows the players he has to work with, that will be when we get a clearer picture of where we are as a club. Personally, I think we will struggle to qualify for Europe this campaign, and that’s not because I don’t have faith in the manager, but because it’s unrealistic to throw 6-7 new players into a team in the toughest league in the world and expect them to hit the ground running straight away.
We might go deep in the cups, but I think we should look at this season as integrating the new players, so that in the next few years we can push on again and regularly compete for CL football.
24 Aug 2026 11:58:50
Ordonez is injured from World Cup, but we are still chasing him. I don’t understand why we are buying injured players for big money. We need players now, not in 6 weeks time.
24 Aug 2026 13:10:51
Sometimes injured players are well worth the wait.
24 Aug 2026 08:41:11
I’d love for Villa to keep Watkins and suspend him from any official club training. Not pay him until he changes his attitude. I know it won’t happen, it’s cutting your nose off to spite your face, but if money wasn’t an issue it would be applauded by fans all over.
Just remember Emery stuck with Watkins throughout last season and even sold Malen !!!
How’s your loyalty now?
Contracts are literally not worth the paper they’re written on and signed.
24 Aug 2026 09:57:43
He also played Rashford over him in our biggest game ever, no loyalty in football.
24 Aug 2026 19:43:56
That is true, Tom, but nowhere in his contract does it say he has to be picked to start every game. It does, however, say he has to train and make himself available for every match as long as he's not injured. Nobody made him sign that contract; he chose to leave the Championship and come to Villa in the Premier League.
24 Aug 2026 07:33:57
One bad result and the world is on fire. More posts for a heavy defeat than when we won a European trophy. Climb down Villa fans - it must be exhausting always being that angry. And exhausting always being right after the fact.
Firstly, fair play to Brighton yesterday. They were the better team and deserved to win. It's incredibly disrespectful to them to put the thumping down to Villa playing badly or various recruitment issues. No matter how many players Brighton sell, they rebuild and find a way to remain competitive and attractive. Oh, hang on, we do that as well. And we'll do it this season too.
Moaning about Emery is pathetic. He is the best thing to happen to this club in decades, and if the fickle whinging Villa Park (alleged) faithful drive him away, then shame on us. He needs our support, the team need our support.
The outgoings have been frustrating, but that's football. It's a business, everything and everyone has a price. A week of the transfer window remains, where hopefully we keep doing some business and add to what we have. And then accept it will take some time for it all to knit together.
We need 37, 000 positive voices on Monday vs Arsenal. Not groaning after 5 mins. Pull yourselves together.
24 Aug 2026 15:28:00
Hi Syston, agree with everything you say except when you say it is a business. Business owners are usually allowed to invest to improve their business, Villa owners aren't allowed to do that.
23 Aug 2026 20:03:29
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised, if some our super stars, who have fetched a good price, get found out. Tielemans has had a couple of snipes at Emery already, hinting that Man U is like a holiday camp compared to Emery. Now Tielemans has to remember, we got him on a free, because Leicester didn’t want him, and it was only after Emery got hold of him, that he became any good. Rogers is another one, as I said when he left, we had more post on here about him losing the ball than anything else.
Chelsea fans already noticed this little quirk of his, and he’s only played one game. I think people will start to realise, it’s not so much the players, but Emery the Dr Frankenstein, who created them. Now as we’ve seen the evidence today, Dr Emery has to start his creating once again, desperately UTV.
23 Aug 2026 21:30:08
Which again will render Emery more attractive ...
23 Aug 2026 22:15:36
He will stop, as long as the fans don't turn on him. In all his interviews, he talks about the importance of the fans. As long as the fans keep the faith and stick with him, and he doesn't read any of Scottie's posts, I think he will stick with us. UTV
24 Aug 2026 08:56:30
Dave Emery will be ok. His gripe will be with the owners, not the fans. No one is exempt from criticism, especially when it is justified. Emery will put it right, I'm sure. Still, he doesn't hide from yesterday's debacle; if it's just a one-off, time will tell. We will be a different team once the squad gets to full strength, and we can rock. Spurs, Villa and Man U all got off to a terrible start, and the fans and journalists views were identical to ours.
All fans were looking forward to the new season, and to get a kick in the proverbials before even the second half of the game for all of us, to say it's disappointing is an understatement. I'm sure Emery is hurting as much as the fans, and this alone should be the catalyst for a complete reset. Bring on Arsenal, and let's hope it's the same as the last time we played them.
24 Aug 2026 09:55:29
Dave, after a first half to forget, at least Emery sorted it, and even with 10 men, we managed to keep them out in the second half. Those two cockups by Torres knocked them sideways, then all the shape went.
With the sending off, stupid first card, but I think it was frustration because he wasn't fit enough to come back.
As you say, get us backup to full strength, then we will see a difference. UTV.
23 Aug 2026 18:23:03
Haven’t seen Scotty post on here yet. 🙈
Keep the rope away from him somebody.
Absolute tirade incoming, I suspect, and quite rightly too.
Need to get this one out the system and quick.
23 Aug 2026 20:43:04
So 59, what can anyone say, it's exactly as I expected. Emery obviously decided not to expose any of our new signings to the inevitable. Torres, as most of us already knew, is not a central defender. How can any team expect to score without a striker? Gomes set the scene by waving a yellow card at the ref, as stupid as it comes, and then behaved like a petulant kid. Total chaos, and when Arsenal do that to us on Monday we are on the back foot, and confidence drains. This performance could, unfortunately, be ingrained in our DNA moving forward. Newcastle were in the same position as us, yet they decided to fight rather than capitulate like lambs to the slaughter.
First game of the season, and not a single positive. Ollie won't be able to set foot in Villa Park again, and the same goes for Martinez. Yet again we have bought a Guessand in Garnacho. If we now try to make any quality purchases, the cost will go through the roof, as we will be seen as desperate, and deservedly so. Emery knew what was going to happen today, but still let it happen. God help us Monday. Morale is essential in any sport; it drained after twenty minutes. It's up to Emery to turn things around over the next six games. If it doesn't, God knows where this season is going.
23 Aug 2026 21:32:12
Well said, Scot!
23 Aug 2026 22:54:38
It's one game for God's sake. Let's keep things in perspective, shall we.
24 Aug 2026 00:37:45
I'm not on my own Lotm.
24 Aug 2026 00:57:07
One positive, didn't concede in the second half with 10 men, as good as it's going to get lol, gotta forget about it now and move on to the next one. Got to be a busy week for us, I think we might have one signing in us that's going to cheer everyone up.
23 Aug 2026 17:50:17
On a plus note, we are only 3 points off top with 37 games to go. 👍👍🫶
23 Aug 2026 18:28:49
Nice one Daz. Ha ha UTV.
23 Aug 2026 17:36:08
Wasn’t we this terrible at the start of last season and look what happened when the window shut.
23 Aug 2026 16:56:47
Hindsight is a great thing but (not blaming Bizot) why didn’t Suzuki start? Does not make any sense to me. 🤷🏼♂️

Spark plugs, maybe?
23 Aug 2026 17:54:11

UTV.
23 Aug 2026 19:14:20
Brilliant Daz. 🤣🤣🤣
23 Aug 2026 16:18:03
I wouldn't let Watkins leave until we have a replacement full stop.
As for saying let Mings go, why would we even consider it after that performance from Torres? He was rubbish and to be honest I didn't rate him last season.
23 Aug 2026 16:40:45
He refused to play today. Been a great servant, but he can now f*** off. Was a legend, but leaving as a rat, good riddance!
23 Aug 2026 16:48:23
He is still a legend. Don't blame him. He will sort his family out for life. Best of luck to him. Big things need to happen.
23 Aug 2026 17:02:47
No Tom, refusing to play for your club is a disgrace; they still pay his wages!
He knew how short we were up top today, and refusing to play is a piss take in my eye.
He could have played today and said his goodbyes to the fans; that way he would have left a legend. I hope he doesn't make one of those goodbye videos, he will get slated.
23 Aug 2026 17:06:50
He has no loyalty to Aston Villa. Why would he want to play and risk his big money move?
23 Aug 2026 17:12:56
Because they pay his bloody wages, that's why!
23 Aug 2026 17:53:03
I can't blame Watkins. Our record goal scorer in the Premier League, one of the main reasons we are where we are, and a huge portion of the fans could not wait to get rid of him.
If you get stick every day at work and then all the other half decent employees leave in a short space of time, you'd be jumping at the chance to earn double anywhere else.
Nobody is staying on that ship to then be further criticised for not single handedly holding down the fort.
He probably does have to go, just to show us how much we'll miss what he brought to the team, not that it'll make our miserable fans any more appreciative of future stars.
23 Aug 2026 17:57:13
Should f*** off. The sooner the better, in my opinion.
To those who say "he's not a fan", we pay his bloody wages!
Tell your gaffer you're not working tomorrow because you might have a better offer. See how that works.
Turned from fan favourite to absolute s***house.
23 Aug 2026 18:00:08
Like I said, RK, he could have played today and left a legend after all. He phoned up Emery and asked to play against PSG, but no. For me, he is done, and yes, everyone would want more money, but he has tarnished his Villa career in one afternoon.
23 Aug 2026 18:26:45
It might have changed things for you personally, Daz, but if he had played, it wouldn't have made any difference to the masses that don't understand that Watkins is one of the best, just because they focus only on one thing.
It's not like he promised us anything like Downing or Delph did.
Managers leave players out of teams while offers are in all the time because they might not be focused. This isn't really any different.
23 Aug 2026 18:43:17
Totally agree, RK, with regards the masses, as you know, I will back any manager and player, but refusing to play is in itself inexcusable. imo
23 Aug 2026 19:25:30
Remember a week or so ago (just before a sniff of the Saudis being after him) I said I 'know someone who knows someone' about Ollie being settled in the Midlands as regards his family/kids/school/kids friends? Now he wants to uproot all that for more money even though his family are happy here & are more than set up for life already? It just shows me the kind of man he is. Let's say he's on £150K per week (minimum) & he's got at least 2 years left on his contract, even more set up for life & I'm sure if he left at the end of that to go for 1 more payday in Saudi, USA or wherever he'd go with our best wishes.
Now we know where he stands, then absolutely 100% we should only let him go for what the club wants for him, he'll understand that as money is his God now. Why should it be any different for us as the selling club. 🤷🏼♂️
UTV
23 Aug 2026 20:17:30
Obviously, I don't get why we are considering selling Watkins for, say, 50 million, with Al Hilal and those Saudi clubs practically swimming in money; let em pay 80 million if they want him so badly! To them it means nothing whether it's 50 or 80 million.
