15th goal from set pieces this season in the league, saw Trinity74 having a pop at him last week amongst others.
Not too shabby I'd say

Been a decent campaign with some highs and as good as PSG are I feel quite disappointed with a few of our players who quite frankly froze on the big stage.
I thought our midfield three who simply had to show some composure everytime we had the ball and try and tick us to give us any chance were abysmal in possession tonight and treated the ball like a hot potato when they reluctantly received it.
The amount of times we blindly hooked the ball round the corner or gave simple 5 yard balls away was criminal and we allowed PSG to have the football at will.
Yes the players worked hard off the ball but on it we could and should have done so much more.
We now have to be more expensive next week and as we've all just witnessed that isn't going to end well for us with the players they have.

Disagree there. Our midfield had no outlet ball, Rashford couldn't keep the ball and had no runners. PSG did the same to Liverpool. Let's hope they don't travel well and we get the 1st goal. Villa Park will rock and we'll see if they can keep us out.

Personally, I'd say a 'decent campaign' is underestimating how far we've gone in the world's most elite football tournament.
It's a lovely thought to think that we'd go away to PSG and be composed and expansive, but that's just not living in the real world. They are miles ahead of us and the only way we're going to get past them is to play like Inter did under Mourinho.which is what we tried to do and I would argue did relatively well until the last minute third goal.
We'll be under just as much pressure at home, but with the fans behind us, a good dose of luck and a great performance we still have a slight chance, but even if we lose this is a massive learning experience and great achievement.
We've reached a level that we didn't expect to this early and this will show our ambitious owners the gap we need to bridge. An important evolutionary step and great experience for our younger players to learn from.
I'm as frustrated as the next fan and we can split hairs about individual moments, but in the big picture this was par for the course but if used right, could be a subtle yet defining moment of the next decade for our great club.

It’s been an incredible campaign. It was above decent just to qualify…

Remember we ripped apart last seasons great man city side, so we can do that to anyone. Utv

Genuinely how does Konsa avoid being scrutinised by fans, he's been absolutely abysmal this season.
That for their first goal is all him and his refusal to go and engage the football, which appears a theme by the way.
Waving his arms around after, it's his place that's most vulnerable for me at that CB position.
Much rather see Pau and Mings in there.

Tbf fair dan all the bck 4 has been awfull can't say what i want to say would get banned lol

We’ve been horrendous as a defensive unit this season, although I do think Digne comes out the first half the season with credit.
My point is I see Pau, Carlos, Cash, Mings, Digne regularly slaughtered but Konsa gets a free pass and he’s a huge issue.
VVD syndrome without the ability, never wants to engage, always looking for a foul, not great on the ball and exposed by the long ball regular.

Ref a previous post or reply mentioning Bogarde not being good enough, those who called me out surely you see it now

If you’re talking about Lamare, he probably should have gone back out on loan for another season. If you’re talking about Dirk, surely he twice won the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Leading Role and was knighted in 1992 and therefore qualifies as a national treasure ?

Hate to put a dampener on it all because we have every reason to be on cloud 9 now but I was talking to Stefan Moore last week who's still involved with the club and he said he's worried about us going forward.
Apparently Emery runs the club from top to bottom with around 50 staff around him, Stefans worry is when he eventually goes it's going to be a huge gap to fill across the board. Not for one minute did he claim Emery was leaving but if a Barcelona or Madrid come calling its hard to say no and Apparently he has final say on everything so when he does leave us he's taking the whole infrastructure with him potentially
1.) 09 Dec 2023 22:20:19
Why the f**k worry about the future and put a damper on the good times at the moment and I'm accused of many things, but nothing as negative as this
2.) 09 Dec 2023 23:57:53
1. Emery learnt from his time at PSG that he works better with control. It is why he turned down Newcastle and will likely deter him from the likes of Barcelona and Real.
2. Assuming we stick with him he won't leave until he has won something during his spell. Also one of the reasons he turned down Newcastle.
3. Unlike Sevilla and Villareal we won't sell everybody of any value every year. We have the finances to choose who we are willing to sell and for not a penny less than top dollar that will be reinvested.
4. Our owners are astute enough to have contingency plans.
5. Whenever he does leave, for whatever reason, there is always a chance we will struggle to hit the same heights for a while. This happens to a lot of clubs after a hugely successful manager leaves.

Proper positive RK

Emery knows how a proper football club needs to be run, hopefully both Swarez and Eden have seen what they have found, because they are who control it all, got to say I think they have got it all right so far, 15 in a row, absolute fortress, new record, emerys is going to get many more, should soon get the key to the city! ???

Sterling had one less goal/assist than Diaby last season. Our fans deemed Diaby a quality signing but Sterling is deemed not good enough for us?
19 Aug 2024 18:24:05
Well Felix is off to Chelsea
24 Jul 2024 03:16:53
Let’s be honest Diaby was poor last season, throw the stats at me all you want but I watch football with my eyes and he looked lost most of the time.
I’d say Emery and co have seen we can make a profit and took it and ran. Diabys stats suggest he was a top performer last season and there would be plenty more sniffing round him if that was the case.
Great but of business for me
19 May 2023 23:04:50
The job emery has done is a double-edged sword, yes he's proven the owners have made the correct decision.
But as the astute businessmen our owners are they may well be looking saying hold on unai that £150m you wanted when you joined in November can go on ice here's £75m as you've took this group from 17th to potentially Europe so it can't all be bad from a playing staff perspective.
Not saying that's what's going to happen but let's not all hang our hats on a war chest for a complete overhaul
25 Mar 2022 21:02:17
2 points
A. We will never get him in a million years
B. We'd all love him at the club if he signed, pivotal part of a world Cup winning team
Anyone that says he's not for us is deluded
10 May 2025 22:03:20
Good 1-0 win eh
04 May 2025 12:08:10
Think what hasn't helped Watkins is coming out in the media about how angry he was questioning not playing and has turned in poor performances since.
26 Apr 2025 20:18:49
Exactly my thoughts.
Thought the set up and line up played exactly into ther hands. Palace are a good side, who work hard, physical, athletic with some lovely technical footballers.
26 Apr 2025 19:31:28
You want Mcphee on to whip the ball in and then run into the box and nod it in? If our players can't beat the first man what do you want him to do?
Just witnessed a shambles from most the team and your go to is blaming the set piece coach.
If you actually knew what you were talking about you'd know we are right up there for set piece goals this season
26 Apr 2025 18:56:40
Fluffy we ignoring Tielemans getting caught on the ball for their second goal?
Fact of the matter is it's been poor all over and players haven't turned up when it mattered.
Except Bailey I must say who came on and caused them problems, was nice and direct.
We know Palace are an athletic in your face side and we've set up wrong with the wrong team. I must say though I would have preferred mings starting and I am a big fan of Pau.
