We were poor today, but had chances to have won. We’ve made it more difficult now because we can’t risk resting a lot of players against Liverpool, but I think we will beat them. I just hope we get through the game without injuries.
Don’t forget that Bournemouth have to win both their games.

So the poor form and it really is poor league form, is it down to the players, the tactics and coaching, my view is all of the above. I can honestly say I am as low today as I was high on the Thursday. My frustration is deep rooted and has been for all of 2026. We failed in the Conference League and we failed to get the Champions League last year and didn't turn up in the FA Cup at Wembley.
Who knows what the next two weeks hold for us. Knowing us, it probably won't end well. Just remember we have form when it matters (obviously our one off on Thursday excluded).

Also we so need to splash the cash in the summer. We can't trust our squad players; they're not good enough. We have 13/14 good players, that's it. Also u have to think the age of our squad is old, which isn't great.
We need a lot of youth and pace in the team and squad. This is why I said Unai needs to blood our youth and nurture them, but he won't do it.

5th place is gone for me.
First 25 minutes was bad.
It is no coincidence that these performances feature Mings.
What does he offer at the back? Lets the ball bounce instead of clearing it.
Doesn’t offer anything from attacking set pieces.
As for Rogers. How does he stay on the pitch? What does Emery see that literally nobody else does? It’s got to the point now when he’s on the ball you wait for him to be tackled, fall over or mid place another pass.
And what was Cash doing?
How many goals have we conceded because of really poor defensive play?
West Ham away, Man Utd at home, today. There must be many others. Our own downfall.
Just clear your line. Re-set. Burnley never looked like scoring but we gift them a goal.
After Thursday it’s what I expected.

Normal service resumed. Emery talks about respecting the opponent but he starts Mings and Maatsen, both absolutely rubbish. Mings slows every game he plays right down. I’m sick to death looking at him standing there with the ball and no clue where to pass it.
Not as bad as last Sunday but only marginally. Turns my stomach watching us play like that and that’s why I don’t care if Emery leaves or not. Boring boring Villa.

Whack, it was obvious we were going to see that today. Players seem to think they can turn up when they want.
There’s one player who should have been subbed well before the end. In the end he wasn't subbed at all.

Agree, I'd rest the starting 11 against Liverpool on Friday, cos the final is more important. Can't risk players getting injured for the final, so play the reserves there. The 1s are playing for their futures, cos they're simply not good enough. We so need better depth in our squad and like-for-like players, whoever they are, but there's players there to be bought.

Today was another extremely poor performance against a side who have only won 4 games this season. If we don’t qualify for CL, it will be the same issue this season as cost us last, ie our failure to put away poor teams. I think our best chance of CL qualification is the Europa League.
Today both full backs were poor, substitutions were far too late, and we were particularly one-paced in the first 30 minutes. I really don’t understand why we have to make life so difficult for ourselves.

Far too many mistakes.
Why didn't he take Rogers off? Half of Burnley's attacks came from him losing the ball.
Sick and tired of seeing the same mistakes every week.
Great as Thursday was, this was the best chance to cement CL football.
Win, take the pressure off the final.
But no, we have to gift teams goals.
Can't rest anyone next Friday now.

Ridiculous starting Mings and Maatsen, and leaving Buendia on the bench so long. We will never progress as long as we keep putting in these performances against the worst teams in the league, it's just shocking how they can go from a performance like Thursday to this rubbish.

Trinity, I said after Sunderland we wouldn't win another league game, and my view still stands. Over the last nine games we are in the bottom few in the table. Why can't we compete against the bottom sides? Either Brighton or Bournemouth, or both, will catch us if that's the case. Conference is for us if we lose in the final, and apart from Forest on Thursday we have been awful all this year.
This is why some of us have doubted Emery. We obviously can't risk our top players on Friday, so Liverpool will walk all over us, and City always do us. I just hope our season doesn't end in failure, and it will be because of recent form and tactics if it does.

I get so angry watching Villa with Mings in the team. You can hear him shouting and calling the shots, but he needs to keep his big mouth shut and do what he's paid to do.
He even lets the ball bounce instead of attacking it. Should have sold him 2 - 3 years ago. No sentiment in football. Not good enough.

Scotty, it's so frustrating.
Rogers must have received the ball 15 times in the final third in good areas and either falls over, gets tackled, or gives the ball away. Half of their attacks came from him.
Should have been subbed at HT. Bring Sancho or Buendia on.

I think Mings, Maatsen, Digne, Onana, Bailey, Bogarde, Garcia, Barkley all need moving on in the summer. Not good enough. Onana is just always injured. If he wasn't injured then I might change my mind. If we get a good offer in summer I'd sell him
