How do you name someone who has no name.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - would it be like when kids are born and the parents are still arguing over a name? My ex's parents were doing that so in the end just took the first two letters of their own names and called her Roma. Only problem with that name is that there are a lot of people who have been on holiday in Italy wandering round with t-shirts on proclaiming their love for her. Random blokes with I <3 Roma on their t-shirts really does not impress her fella.....}

This is a bit of a sketchy 1 but mate has heard rumblings about Vermalen from Barca, Gardner to Barnsley on loan and Supermac move back on to Sunderland, I've got nothing else

Sunderland don't want to pay a loan fee and don't want to cover all his wages, until that changes he won't go, fortunately Tom Fox isn't in charge anymore.

I'm more interested in getting rid than brining in more new signings
Have to go
1) Richards "Not even any good in the championship totally useless"

2) McCormack "Lazy with a bad attitude I thought Β£12m was a crazy fee to pay for what we were getting" I think we made the same mistake in terms of fee with Hogan to much for someone not worth the fee

3) Flabby Gabby "Had his time no longer fit for purpose"

4) Hutton "I like Hutton gives 100% but he is just not good enough and continually gets caught out of position"

Not Desperate but probably better for both parties that they go.
Gardner
Elphick
Bunn
And I would even sell Grealish if the right money came in massive potential but he will ultimately deliver very little in his career Jack will wake up one morning in the future with so many regrets and wonder where his career went and will look into his empty display cabinet with no winners medals . far to inconsistent.

Whether we want to keep kodjia or not makes no difference, as long as he's fit and not having a mare, he's off in january, he would have joined fernebache this summer but got injured, his agent has been touting him around to clubs here and abroad all summer, as long as he proves he's back on form he'll be doing the frankie bough, more worringly is those raving gunners have been scouting andre green and might join bournemouth in making a bid if not now, then january, o'hare and davis have been scouted by manc. citeh, so its time to get steve round to get his finger out and sort some new contracts out, as some of you boys have mentioned on here already, ffs let's not let the cream of our young squad get nabbed on the cheap., their the future for sure, with them who needs dodgy mercenaries, homegrown all the way.

24 Aug 2017 11:30:25
So what you're saying is that we shouldn't tie our youth down to long contracts then.? and you don't think that clubs would be looking at a 20 a season goal scorer? By hitting the disagree button on 82's post that means that you don't?

UTV.

Agree1 Disagree4

24 Aug 2017 11:46:23
Or maybe people disagree that Kodjia agent has been touting him around all summer, it is enevitable no matter what happens he will be sold in January, that the gunners have been scouting Andre Green, and Man City who have their own world class youth system with players breaking into their squad that will be challenging for the premier league and competing in the highest club competition this season are looking to steal our youth players. Seems to me Classof82 believes the papers way too much and has got a little too carried away after we played a load of youth lads in a cup game. Your reply was so selective Ally it's boardering on Trump territory.

Chris, the kodjia link to fernebache isn't a paper rumour, its widely known he and his agent were looking for a loan move at the very least, fernebache said they they wanted him, and he was going to activate the clause in his contract to go out on loan (now why would he want a loan clause inserted if he was all about staying with us is up to everyone to decide? ), and his agent HAS been active in letting it be known his client now wishes to play european club football regularly (and i'm guessing a hefty pay rise too), as for the citeh rumour, not sure that one has been in the papers, got told that by someone who saw them coming to all level of games since the second half of last season, as for green, same thing, bournemouth and palace have been open about their interest, the gunners as usual have been watching him on the sneak for months, they've been keeping it quiet because (as i'm sure your aware) in the past they've pilfered our youth team players;such as our youth club captain and and generally behaved in a less than gentlemanly manner in how they conduct themselves, the big i am scenario, i hope kodjia does stay because for what he brings, we couldn't afford to replace him for anything less than 40 mill (in my opinion), but let's see what happens, i reckon if we take the league by storm he'll stay, anything else, don't be surprised if our loyal centre forward all of a sudden plays the loan card, be that for fernebache, or whichever club here or in europe is looking for a proven striker to help them stay up, and as for your take on citeh, and their world class system, i remember them saying they had no interest in raheem sterling and then, boom, signed, sealed and delivered, citeh definitely are sniffing around davis, can't say as i blame them, he reminds me of danny welbeck-but with a brain! and on another note, have your heard yet Ally if mcshortfarces' house is being emptied, we could with sunderland grabbing him asap!

Please do point them out mate, sorry I don't agree that if people press the dislike button on something it means they don't agree with 3 points out of about 8. Don't be upset.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Aug 2017 13:50:59
82 - you could well be correct on everything, however you present no real evidence what so ever. Can you provide any evidence of; city being interested in Davies, Arsenal watching Green for months (can't see what they've been watching for months, he's made a handful of appearances), they've hardly raided our youth ranks, in stuck after Dan Crowley. You've taken the Kodjia stuff straight out of the papers, the doctor confirmed no such clause existed so don't understand how your still "being told" that. All I pointed out was that on the basis of probability and when you weigh things up, such as city's youth team, it makes zero sense for them to be interested in two championship youth lads who have 3 league appearances between them. Ally seems upset because I pointed out that just because people press the dislike button doesn't mean they don't agree with everything you've said - a bit precious to be honest. The three things he pointed out are 3 things every villa fan will agree on, however the rest you can't expect people to go on with no real evidence just "I got told" and stuff taken straight out of the back pages.

24 Aug 2017 15:18:18
How's that kid doing for Citeh that they got off Fulham for Β£10M+? and Crowley that Arsenal 'stole' off us? They're young English players being bought to get those teams quotas of 'home grown' players, despite having the most 'amazing' youth academies? As for Kodjia and his agent, do you think he sits on his hands for his 10%? Ain't seen Kodjia advertising razor blades or shampoo lately so how could he possibly make more for his 10%? πŸ€”

Money is God in football, you or I would stay at Villa for the whole of our career if they'd have us, the modern day footballer wouldn't (Gabby on Β£50K p.w. probs the exception lol) and on top of this Dr Tony is a businessman, he owns our club and i'm sure he has his heart in it but money makes money, football ain't about a pie and a pint watching you heroes any more, its dog eat dog. We were expected to go up at the 1st attempt, it didn't happen and would understand Kodjia's thinking if that clause was in his contract. I also understand that for the greater good, if we got a bucket of cash for him and we go up this year, we wouldn't care less about him, he's 1 player. definitely my final comment on this, Trump, over and out πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

What a revelation Davis was, a forward that can actualy hold the ball up . The difference that made to our midfield, it aloud them to get forward . The biggest was Hoorihane
, he was like a differant player . Taylor and Green where great down the left, the one twos and making space for each other . A pity we aren't as strong down the right, Hutton got caught out that many times . When Gabby is fit again, I just hope Brucie dosent throw him back in . we have seen of Davis and O Hare, the kids have non stop movement and effort . Get them in, make room for them . Hi all,
Don't post on here too often but am an avid reader on an almost daily basis.
I can understand all of the frustration and am not surprised at all of the criticism that SB is getting atm as down the years our wonderful fans have been very fickle and quick to turn and vent their frustrations.

Obviously our current plight has now been ongoing for several years and has lead from one mistake to another. We have lacked any sort of continuity leading from one manager to another which not only adds to this lack of continuity but also more funds in compensation which is not available to strengthen the squad.

The way I see it there is a rotten core at the club which breeds a bad atmosphere to anybody that seems to sign for us. We all know who they are mostly the mistakes of the past who we are stuck with on high wages whom there is no interest in even as free transfers because they will not accept a pay cut to leave.

I didn't believe in Lamberts bomb squad but these guys need to be gone so the manager whoever it is can get on and coach players who want to perform and have professional pride at least.

Sky Sports News says Aston Villa in talks with Sam Gallagher on loan. Looks like Steve Bruce will be given time no problem with that but if we keep losing he has to be dismissed it doesn't matter that he's a nice guy we're trying to go back to the Premier League and need results. I don't like Bruce but its up to the owner Aston Villa has nothing to do with us so really my opinion is not relevant I am just saying it how I see as a supporter. Its Dr. Tony club he can do what he wants with it. I just want the best for the club and as supporters we are going to be his biggest critics but its Dr. Tony money so he will always have final say what happends to the club. So far its not working let's hope we can turn it around. UTV.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 06:29:09
If they are going to call a taxi for Bruce then they need to do it now and not stall or delay, everyone seems shocked at our start I knew this would after what I saw in preseason at the game at Shrewsbury still st 0-0 I said to my son we are absolutely toothless and we are.
Apart from Bruce I think there are others at the club who need to go Steve Round for a start as the signings like for example Thor are useless and another example of more money wasted.
However Tonev has to be the worst player I have ever seen in a Villa shirt just thought I would drop that in.

Deja vu!
Never been a poster that wanted a manager out, always try to see the best.
However Bruce has to fall on his sword, NOW.
If he really cares then he should go of his own free will, walk before being pushed.
He has had more opportunity and support from the owner than any previous manager.

When, not if, he goes who will accept the poison chalice. I am not qualified to even guess who it could be.
All I ask is a man with passion, vision and awareness.
Steve please take a ride asap.

15 Aug 2017 23:33:02
Bring back Sherwood. He was never given a fair crack of the whip when he was here, and he seems to be the only one that actually got the players to show a bit of passion. A lot of the players already know him, and know the way he likes to play, which could be an advantage than bringing in somebody completely new again. let's face it, we've had enough new faces in that have been a shambles! Give him another go I say, and I think he would definitely accept the challenge.

16 Aug 2017 10:45:14
So last night we was shocking and toothless .

I have openly said prior that managers should be given a chance prior to getting the bullet . However I must agree with most on here that the time is now for change .

We are toothless in attack with no ambition in the attacking areas .

I do believe that with Kodjia and Hogan we have two of the best strikers in the league but there is not movement, killer passes and conviction in our play .

I also believe that gabby is a bad luck omen for villa . As every time he plays we play poorly!

Personally i would like to see one of the three below given a chance as they are young and aspiring managers

Paul Heckinbottam - young, plays bright progressive football, managed to get the best out of Hourihane which meant Barnsley scored goals for fun last season

Lee Johnson - again like heckinbottom plays football the right way . managed Kodjia very well also

Tim Sherwood - he has unfinished business and certainly had the passion . Just. It sure if we should ever go back.

Surely one day SB will realise that he must get back to the simple tried and tested way of putting the ball in the net.
Why does he not play to Hogan style and play the ball between defenders for Hogan to get onto. That's how most teams seem to play.
Too much emphasis on defending, not that that is successful, not enough on feeding the striker.

No risky balls forward, no imaginative passes and very few threatening plays.
SB bought Hogan because he scored goals but how many has he scored for us?
Get Hourihane into the mid park with the instruction to push the ball forwards, Lansbury looks lost sometimes.

The defence by name looks good but Cardiff enjoyed an early Christmas present.
Dare one suggest that if SB wants to keep his job he must change his vision.
Possibly the best names in the league wear our shirt but they are off the pace with the style of play that we see on the pitch.
It is almost as if they can't think for themselves.
Can they?

Well said Oldvillian, some talking head on the radio said that bruce has reverted to percentage football, hope that's wrong, either we've got players carrying niggling injuries, or our coaching team needs to go out and buy a dummies guide to a footballers' fitness, because clearly something isn't adding up, and by the way, if we give bruce 10 games to turn it around, then looking at it with a calculator, we won't be giving ourselves a fair chance to get promoted automatically, just an observation fellas;alas.

Thing is our rapid continual changing of managers in comparrison to other teams that have done well in the Championship, isn't doing us any good either.

In two years time, if still struggling agter sacking Bruce, are some supporters going to be calling for the return of Bruce because at least he knew about defence,

Last season there were a few of us who saw how poor we were over the last ten games and without spite or malice felt Bruce was not going to take us anywhere. The football was turgid and lacked any semblance of creativity. Nothing was ever going to change. The realists were pilloried for lack of loyality and our football knowledge was questioned. Everything we said was accurate, I have read all of the regular contributors comments after the game and lo and behold, they now agree that Bruce is taking us nowhere. Dr T now is the time to act before we are again the laughing stock we have been for the last six years.

for weeks I've been saying this and most time i get moaned at but why is it we have one decent set piece taker (constantly on bench conor h) we have one decent striker (injured for god knows how long) and no midfielder who can create or shoot at goal?

said from moment we went of lansbury its a crap buy and he is going to drag the midfield down more than it already was and so far point proven,

its a must that in the next few weeks we go and either buy (if FFP allows us to) or loan a striker who can actually hit a shot and head the ball, damn if need be a player like crotch will do. and a player who will run at defenders and shoot from midfield (just not sure who fits that bill)

We have tried everything to build a team, Here is an idea why don't we stop spending money as we can't anymore and show some patients why we build a team with young hungry players. In football you need to want it. Afraid to many players at Villa in last 6 years not really bothered if team lose, few players who were bothered simple not good enough. Hourihane would be lucky if Solihull moors were interested in him after last nights performance, found it weird Bruce brought him yet has benched him so often but after last night I can see why, his set pieces are his only positive at the moment. As for Rhodes Bruce and Tony confirmed last night that any talk of Rhodes and Snodgrass are completely false up to now as neither have been identified as targets.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2017 23:13:15
Are you admiting Bruce brought wrong with hourihane then? See the thing is at barnsley he was setting up and scoring goals for fun i put it to you that Bruce is actually not getting the best out of him.

Agree0 Disagree4

12 Aug 2017 12:15:08
But how do you get the best out of him? You can't blame Bruce for everything it's getting embarrassing WTW, next you'll say he's responsible for global warming. Against Watford in the friendly he played him behind the striker in the number 10, he was woeful. Tried him in a midfield 3 and he does nothing, him and Lansbury don't seem to work as a 2. I think that's why we've signed Onomah, reminded me of the snake in the cup, calm on the ball, carries it well and picks his passes. Hourihanes only saving grace so far is his set pieces, although probably a couple of times last season hourihane really did look like the player we thought we was getting, but his hit and miss, hopefully just needs time to settle.

Rumour is that the Amavi deal is close to being finalised, all that it's left is the medical. Marseille will loan the player with the option to buy for a total of Β£9 million.

Another rumour is that we can finally get rid of Bacuna. Reading-manager Jaap Stam has apparently reignited his interest in signing him. But Aston Villa is waiting for an improved offer.

Bacuna very useful in the squad and good midfielder on his day, never going to succeed here however especially after that reaction on Saturday, booing your own player half way through a game because he's had a bad game - embarrassing, and also the reason it's going to be 100x harder for us to get anywhere, when the fans are so eager for you to fail so they can moan and boo, how can you expect the players to perform. Poisonous.

We are operating very closely to financial fair play rules this season. As anybody thought if we don't go up this season how the club will operate next season? We could lose our big players from the teams coming down because they have much more financial power and we will have only a small amount of parachute money left. Already this season Steve Bruce as use the phrase box clever to get players in. And the real reason we have all these old players is there cheap. We better hope JT and Samba don't retire or we won't have any cbks at the club. You see all the money wasted on the players eg RDM and Steve Bruce has come back to haunt us. All of this will be down to Tony Xia for poor choosing of managers which leads to poor recruitment. His personal wealth won't come into it so Villa fans say what you like its this season or never because of financial fair play rules.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

09 Aug 2017 12:57:35
I raised this point when baker left that if we don't go up we need to hope samba and it don't retire and that they are still able to cut it physically, by the end of this season the money spent when garde was in charge becomes not an issue as it's outside the 3 years the ffp refers to, we will then have funds available.

Do you not understand it is a chain if Dr Tony pick the wrong manager then the manager recruit poor players and the players play poorly. You could give coco the Clown money doesn't mean your a good chairman i would rather him pick the right manager 1st. now because of his mistakes the club could be here for good because of FFP rules. you try getting 10 million back for Ross McCormack or 15 million for Hogan it won't happen he picks poor managers then that manager wastes his money.

Agree1 Disagree0

Do you ever stop?

The club have stated that they are building 3 teams

One for promotion out of the championship
One to stay in the premier league
And the third to kick on once we have secured premier league status

Championship clubs can lose a maximum of 13million in one season . But don't forget we have parachute payments

Premier league clubs can lose 105 million over 3 years but this is also dependant on new TV deals and also promotion payment for getting back to the premier league .

For once just stop moaning about everything villa related . Tony Xia is a young man who had made millions out of business ventures he is no ones fool so trust the man to come good and stop moaning.

Agree3 Disagree1

09 Aug 2017 16:01:31
It's not the dr's fault. He's come from China, not knowing the game, appointed a manager who had won the champions league, didn't work out so rightly got rid. Appointed the most successful championship manager ever who months before was linked with the England job. No-one on here was moaning when we bought McCormack. He also has a proven record. Hogan was doing well when we bought him. I still think Hogan will cone good. He looks sharp. Just needs a goal. We have to get behind bruce. History shows he knows how to get out of this league. Admittedly I disagree with a few of his decisions like starting bacuna when hourihane is on the bench! But what manager would everyone agree with 100% of the time? As for FFP there is one thing that worries me slightly. I read somewhere that if an owner pays out of their own money, no the club revenue, it doesn't affect FFP. So maybe Tony isn't as rich as we think. Or maybe he doesn't want to plough his own person fortune into players which is fair enough. Predicting Bruce to play a strong side tonight to get a win and a bit of confidence. Also I hope he does as I only need villa and Leeds in an acca for Β£158. Haha. UTV.

Bruce said the weekend he was looking to have Jack as a main stay in the team and really have the team play around him and build them around how to get the best out of him. Makes sense because Bruce has started using formations with a number 10 role which he didn't at all last year and weirdly enough after 3 years Jacks numbers changed to the number 10.

Read today it could be 6 months out with him, but his dad has said 2 or 3, hope its the latter. Should be able to keep fit as well given it's a kidney injury he should be able to do lots of lightweight stuff.
