Any of you boys and girls heard about some kosovan striker we're supposed to have scouted? not sure myself but apparently could cost as much as 1 million, so obviously another top draw nugget to talk to gabby while warming the bench!

This result goes to show what we are capable of and that the players are right behind Bruce perhaps some fans should be as well #INBRUCEITRUST.

Most of us are behind everything Aston Villa stands for daz.
Just people voicing their concerns mate.
I think Bruce is ok, but that's really as far as it goes for me, we need someone who can take us 10 years down the line in the top flight, I just don`t think Bruce can do that, he was the best available at the time.

Agree3 Disagree0

31 Dec 2017 14:35:50
Well said daz i reckon if the fans got behind him and the team no matter what, we may bag a few more wins in games that are tight. The twelth man has a lot going for it. way things are at the moment unsettles both player and manager. would the teams that are above us perform the way that we have with the injuries ect that we have i think not. Its a credit to the manager and players that we are still in with a good shout. we have one of the best fan bases in any division just wish we could all come together for the sake of our club.

Pulis, What's the score, Pulis Pulis what's the score?!?! Hahaha. Mainbob if O'hare is half as good as Murphy then I can see why you rave about him so muchšŸ˜‰ excellent performance away from home. was too cautious going forward in the first half but second we took more chances in the passing and the movement and deserved our win IMO.

Just need to move the ball faster, look to pop it into players quicker rather than always looking for the ball out wide. It's weird what happens when you take out the player who always has a mistake in him, play one of our best players from last year in his right position and actually play a centre back at centre back!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

30 Dec 2017 17:11:12
Chris I said 5 young players who needed games and Murphy was one of them,
Plus grealish the big difference again,
Bruce must stay with this youth on the bench,
Murphy did well when he came on the only downside to him he keeps getting these injuries,
Nice to see Hayes on the bench as well,
Great performance defended very well.

30 Dec 2017 17:23:56
See elfick man of match with most pundits,
He was the best player with grealish against brentford, as well.
Fair play to him.

30 Dec 2017 18:39:54
Bruce didnā€™t do himself any favours, if Whelan didnā€™t get ill then Jedinak was starting at CB and Elphic on the bench, players at the end showed its means just as much to them as us. Murphy looked really tidy, Control, holding it up everything he did well.

When picking a manager you need to decide what style you want your football club to play what philosophy you want to use then you decide on a manager who fits the bill simple not so simple if your a foreign owner who knows nothing about football as a club the owner has made mistakes as well but his hearts in the right place.

Facts are since Doug Ellis left we haven't been any good as a football team in my view. People say we can't appoint Dean Smith his not big enough well Doug Ellis got John Gregory from Wycombe and we nearly won the league. No way is this team getting anywhere near the top 6 with Bruce.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

29 Dec 2017 20:39:32
Look at Dean smiths game ratio then tell me if you think this man is good enough for Villa.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Dec 2017 21:17:08
Brilliant comparison with Gregory, heā€™s made a brilliant attacking side out of Brentford and theyā€™ve got good attacking players. Give him good attacking players, good midfielders and good defenders and youā€™d hope that he would make us a good alround side. If Bruce went I wouldnā€™t be disappointed to see Smith given a chance, 90% of fans would get right behind him for the villa connection alone.

Just seen on the net that dr xia buisiness have lost 75mil each that's recon, also that's he's paying the players wages by a big bank loan he took out, i hope too god this isn't true . Else we could be in trouble again off the pitch aswell.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

29 Dec 2017 04:09:56
Completely untrue, Dr. Tony has a lot of people writing rubbish about him because he's secretive about how much he's worth. For some reason it's the silly season again. Only negative thing about Villa is Bruce and Glen Whelan.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Dec 2017 09:25:57
Talking about taking a story and just adding your own spin on it, or you havenā€™t read the article or donā€™t understand it properly, one of the three. The article says that Recon pulled out of a 75 million pound deal to buy a Hollywood film company - this does not mean that each business has ā€œlost 75 million eachā€. Then it says suppliers havenā€™t been payed and we have borrowed money to pay the wage bill - doesnā€™t mention anywhere about one big bank loan. This is based off an article from late October, at the time Wyness publicly asked for proof and claimed it was so far from the truth and libellous to the club. Proof was never provided nothing was said however last week another paper found this story and did a story of their own stating the same exact things and using the original article as their source - therefore itā€™s all based on false information.

Lot on here banging on about getting Smith in? Just out of curiosity where are Brentford in the league and if he was any good why haven't bigger clubs gone in for him? Plus I didn't know a lot of fans on here watch a lot of Brentford games to know they play free flowing attacking football week in week out every team that play Villa it's their cup final it's just that we have got too learn how to approach each and every single cup final with the same pinnach that they do.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Villadaz.

They didnā€™t win there first 8 games and theyā€™ve lost the most points from a winning position because they donā€™t know how to hold onto a lead due to there attack minded play but he sticks to his beliefs and has turned it around.

IMO he would be a good appointment at least we will see more attractive football .

Who would you like to see as gaffer.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Dec 2017 15:43:53
So you would rather be where Brentford are than where we are Malc? Attacking football is good and don't get me wrong I'd love to see it all the time but if you can't keep a clean sheet you losing half the battle until our injuries we was fine and dandy and after the 1st 10 mins against sheffield u everyone was joyous and buyount until the mistakes made by the players not the manager same again against Brentford terrible marking for the 2nd goal again is that brucies fault? As I said before I'd keep Bruce until end of season or until we can't get in playoffs and if the good dr sees fit to wield the axe then I'd love too see Michael Laudrup down VP until then I will back Bruce because we need STABILITY.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Dec 2017 16:43:30
apologies for the long winded post

I get what your saying Daz, however in recent weeks we are unable to do either . Whether that be keeping a clean sheet or attack with any purpose.

Our football is dire, we are too slow and pass sideways or failing that lump it up the pitch far to often .

Sam Johnstone is a good keeper and I hope he stays, but every time the ball is passed back to him it is simply lumped upfield .

I have always said Bruce needed time . Now IMO Bruce should go

Far too many players have been brought in and failed to make the grade . Good players donā€™t become bad players overnight .

We brought Hogan who again IMO without a doubt is a goal scorer . Subject to being played in the right way through the channels . (Something we donā€™t do)

Yes we have had injuries, but wow we have so many players that should be able to provide cover

We keep making terrible decisions with managers who just donā€™t seem to play there best players .

We have been struggling for centrebacks due to Bruce letting Baker leave

IMO Hutton or Bree could of filled in at centre back and not Jedinak who is not a CB

Bree was a great young rightback at Barnsley and now canā€™t even get on the subs bench.

We as supporters require better, the manager unfortunately picks players based on there name and wages paid as opposed to recent performances. Maybe Bruce should become England manager as is sounds all to familiar.

In order for AVFC to rise again, we need a clear blueprint on what we want to become. Football has changed whereby the championship is following the same suite as the premier league . Whether it be Man City, Tottenham, Liverpool etc In the premier league or wolves, Bristol City etc in the championship . The top teams play relatively attractive football . That is with the exception of Cardiff, however they have a team of fighters that we donā€™t

Personally Iā€™m sick of handing over my hard earned cash to watch the most boring games of football I have ever seen

Football is entertainment and we pay to be entertained .

I would be happy to stay in the championship for a couple of seasons to get our blueprint right, as it bothers me that if we go up, we may well come straight back down as we presently donā€™t have a real identity in how we play

I would without doubt go for a younger manager and would be happy with any of the following

Dean Smith
Lee Johnson
Paul Heckingbottom

I donā€™t care if anyone says the job is too big for them, weā€™re not a big club anymore

Itā€™s only my opinion guys and no doubt some mate be critical but hey is a banter website.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Dec 2017 16:57:03
Agree with some of your points but end of the day if Bruce hadnā€™t put Jedinak as cb instead of Elphick that mistake wouldnā€™t of happened. The point I was making was that Brentford and Dean Smith have spent peanuts, didnā€™t win there first 8 games and thrown away the most points from winning positions and they are right behind us, says a lot about the progress under Bruce.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Dec 2017 20:44:42

I think I'm correct in thinking Dean Smith is a Villa fan? I'm sure we pay our back room staff more than the Brentford managers position? ( i guess WTW will no doubt advise) . Why not offer Smith a senior role in the 1st team with the proviso, if he succeeds he's considered the main role? I know we've got Agnew, but in my opinion, get rid of Calderwood as I can't see what he's adding.

As you all know I will back any manager until the time I feel he can't be backed no more. there is no better manager to get us out of this league than the man himself but and here's my but in my opinion he is no good as a premier league manager again stats back this so WHEN Bruce gets us up this season get rid as he has done his job IMO.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

28 Dec 2017 16:11:39
Why is he best manager? Cause he did it in past. Look at wolves manager never been in England and he got his team top league first time asking.
Wouldn't you say warnock is best manager get us out league he no nonsense manager and gets best out of any team. Saved Rotherham and now looks like getting Cardiff in at least playoffs.

Agree0 Disagree2

28 Dec 2017 16:52:52
I wouldnā€™t touch warnock with walkthewalks.
Best man?! Not a chance.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 17:15:42
This is why I canā€™t confidently say sack Bruce, because if we end up with someone like Pearson or Warnock itā€™s such a backwards step. If he goes we need someone fresh with a modern style of football and an idea, the ā€œhe wonā€™t take any nonsense, get them organised from the backā€ is boring and outdated and will drag us further down the league.

Agree0 Disagree2

28 Dec 2017 18:14:06
Yeah because warnock really dragging Cardiff down.
People moan about managers like big Sam pulis and Pearson because they don't play attractive footy but you can only play good footy with good players.
I love villa play attacking footy but at min we haven't got a goal scorer.

Our best player is a winger who having a great season but before that he wasn't the best.
Pearson got Leicester up and played good counter attacking footy which would suit grealish Albert and hogan.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Dec 2017 18:34:05
Brilliant. but you said Warnock.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 18:35:34
I don't want Bruce out just yet. But if it did happen then for me there should be only 1 name on people's lips. Gary rowett from derby. Don't care if he is ex blues. Plays good football and makes teams over perform.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 18:59:47
Donā€™t put Pulis and Pearson in the same bracket as big sam, they donā€™t even come near. Leicester didnā€™t exactly play counter attacking football when they came up either, Pearsons style of football isnā€™t the worst but more about the man himself and if you want more reason why we wouldnā€™t want him just look at what he did at derby.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 19:01:33
And also Warnock might not be dragging Cardiff down but let them get to the prem, struggle, stories of back handers, bribes and deals where players have bonuses put into their contracts on the basis they give them straight to the gaffs in order to get in the first 11 come out, no thanks. Thereā€™s no smoke without fire.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Dec 2017 19:05:50
I did main point was why bruce isn't best manager in league. Or for us

I was a fan of his but it hasn't worked. I wanted him gone at start season.
Me personally i like a foreign manager to come in and bring a new way of thinking in the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 20:31:06
The wolves manager has done a good job but if he was the manager of Burton they would be up there as he has got the contacts. As we all know the football isn't pretty down at VP but I would take ugly football all day long as long as it gets us up and correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Cardiff on a bit of a slump at the moment? We have been spoilt down the years but the last 5 years have been dire to say the least.

we need stability not keep swapping and changing where has that got us over the last 5 years relegation and struggling that's where, plus the fact that we would have to pay compo to Bruce plus all his backroom staff money that could be spent on player investment we are not a huge club anymore but a big fish in a small pond that if it's not filled with water will wither and die ( Bit drastic but you get my jist) Bad decisions over the years have got us to this point but we need stability. And I will clarify this I'm not a Bruce fan I would love Michael Laudrup down VP but again I will back him and still think that he is the best man for experience to get us out of this pond.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 21:34:21
Great shout Laudrup. That's type I like. I would say De Boer but after what happened at palace no thanks.

I get we need stability but he had 18months or so and nothing has changed. We are in results buisness and I think Dr has been patience compared to other clubs.

Rowett great shout aswell but never in million yrs would he come plus heard the saints are looking at him.

It's finally got to the point that the majority of fans now want change, this message has surely got to the good doctor, he is the only one that can make the ultimate decision, so please Tony understand we have had enough, you have backed the manager both with words and money. It clearly has not worked and doesn't look like it ever will. Cut your losses and make the right decision and act now whilst their is still time, sit on your hands and you will start to loose your credibility. Thank Steve for his efforts no one deliberately chooses to fail, however we are in a results industry and results are ultimately how managers are judged, he has failed to deliver what you and the fans expected, things are deteriorating rapidly, you must act now, you will probably help Steve as well and like us put him out of his misery.
One comment made by a fellow a Villa inadvertently summed up our success under Bruce he said " at least we will finish above the Blues" certainly true, even Steve wouldn't have the nerve to put this on his CV.

Believable9 Unbelievable3

27 Dec 2017 16:27:08
Give him the Middlesbrough game, away game against a team above us, only thing missing is it being on tele for it to be everything we fail with. One last roll of the dice, show us something.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 16:58:41
ChrisAVFC your loyalty is honourable, however I feel if he fails as you mention against Middlesboro you like others will want to give him one final chance. He has had enough time and chances, now is the time for change, no more chances. We are one of the poorest sides to watch nothing is improving, in fact it is getting worse. Other clubs have recently acted decisively we must do the same and it needs doing now. Doctor T needs to hear this clearly and act now, no more second (third, fourth, fifth. ) chances.

Agree7 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 00:20:41
Just got back from the match gutted I have stuck up for Bruce even tho you know I don't like him I think he has ran out of ideas. Why doesn't he keep playing Whelen his costing us goals week in week out. We are a old team and we look our age aswel big jeds legs have gone aswel so putting them both together who was going to do the runing?

Now His style of play does get criticised but we don't mind as long as it gets results when it doesn't then you start to wonder what's going on. We can't pass to each other we hoof the ball none stop to whoever is upfront and quite frankly something has to change.

I have give Bruce a chance but its not going to work we need a manager with a philosophy. I hope Bruce turns it around but long term his not the man for me. I pay a lot of money going to every game as Villa fans we all want to win but we deserve better. wouldn't it be great if we had Dean Smith a Villa fan who plays great football we was taught a footballing lesson again.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

27 Dec 2017 08:47:29
What was the footballing lesson? How to play against a team who make 5 errors a half? Not really a lesson is it, we were poor and handed them the game, last season they showed what they can do against us, last night was nothing special, they didnā€™t exactly play us off the park.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 12:14:28
Chris I agree.
I hate, with a passion when fans turn on a manager, let alone players, I think I have made this point a lot over the years, but. as much a nice guy as I believe Bruce is, time has ran out, I canā€™t make anymore excuses for him, either on here, or in my own head.
I hold my hands up and say I was wrong.

If the club acts quickly. we can salvage what is sinking quickly.

I like the Dean Smith approach. Attractive proper football, the way we should play.
I seriously think we have the team to win this league, let alone play offs. but we do not play the way villa should, let alone these players.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 12:28:18
I agree, chrisAVFC. But the main problem is that Bruce's tactics and formations donā€™t work well enough. I honestly could have done it much better than him, a 4-2-4 formation. For example I would have used Bjarnason and Oā€™Hare in central midfield, Davis and Hogan at the top, De Laet instead of Hutton and I would have switched the positions of Chester and Elphick to central defender left and central defender right respectively. And I would have had these substitute players: Steer, Bree, Richards, Hourihane, Onomah, Grealish and Hepburn-Murphy. And I guarantee you all Aston Villa fans that I would have won that match.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 12:44:34
You would of won that match playing a formation that had 2 midfielders?
I guarantee you wouldnā€™t of won it.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 14:37:40
1, Does Steve Bruce have a philosophy that runs through the club = NO. 2, Does he have a good style of play? = NO. 3, Does he pick the players on form or favoritism? = favoritism 4, Would he be any good in the Premier League = NO. 5, Do fans like lisening to Steve Bruce = NO he says the same thing over an over again. 6, Does he get results = NO. The Answer simple get a new manager who can clear out all these out donkeys at the end of the season either play youth or by better younger players and get a manager who has a philosophy and a pattern of play. Dean Smith or oscar Garcia.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 16:28:22
I want a manager with an idea and who gets the best out of the players we have, just pointing out anyone would of beaten us yesterday, it was not a footballing lesson.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 21:18:38
I'm not saying Brenford were fantastic but because they have such a good manager they passed the ball well created chances. This is a Steve Bruce side now they're old lack pace hunger and ideas followed by a dinosaur manager who has no plan or style just hoof hoof hoof. surely you must watch other clubs and think why don't we play like that? Garry Monk was sacked and Boro are higher than us what's that saying?

We need to find a manager that plays with a philosophy. If you look at klopp wenger the Huddersfield manager the youth play the same style as the 1st team so do the reserves it works its a plan you look at the way Villa play its like kids in a play ground kicking it and running after it facts are he shouldn't of been appointed and he should be sacked. People who go to all the games no how bad we are people who watch soccer saturday don't realise and I think they could be the Bruce fans because they don't have to watch it!

25 Dec 2017 12:30:41
I'm bored.
Christmas day, everyone full of joy and food and the odd shandy.
WtW has found a coupLe of friends or should that be fiends?
Ok, if we fail to win tomorrow and JT misses a few more games could we back to the winter spiral?
However if the worst happens (we don't make even the play offs) the Dr will save money as JT bonus of Ā£2m is only payable on promotion.

Serious stuff.
The way the defence played on Saturday will Bruce bring back Elphick (god help us) and stick the bearded wonder back in front of the back line.
Oh how I wish Mcgrath was there for us now.
Hogan needs some one to push the ball through the defenders, he didn't become poor because he signed for AVFC.

Too much interplay, not enough on target shots. SB seems to believe Arsene Wenger philosophy of the perfect goal.
Get the ball forward and I don't care if it ain't pretty. Both of the Blades goals were long punts that ended up in our net.
We can do that! Hogan can do that!
Change the plan, surprise the opposition, we have to be fluid not stagnant.
A draw tomorrow will not do.
3 pts is a must.

{Ed007's Note - Corrie's not much better but at least wee Carla's back.}

24 Dec 2017 23:17:34
Keinan Davies - really promising player we have yet we don't play to his strengths he holds the ball up and links play very well, puts it out wide and then instead of a first time cross the ball goes backwards and across.

Grealish - great to have him back fully fit, he's a pleasure to watch in what otherwise is quite a rigid team. Again though I think he needs to play closer to the striker.

snodgrass - for me this guy should be scoring more and deserves to be dropped to the bench as his form is dire at the minute. Get o'hare or green back in the team.

come on Brucey sort it out mate the team has looked so dysfunctional and one dimensional of late.

You know contrary to what you may think i would love to be wrong and will take not one jot of satisfaction to be proved right but just look at what is being served up, this current team and manager will not give us what we deserve and think deep down most of us know this. You are a positive and loyal fan just like I was, it's all been knocked out of me, believe me it's because I cared too much in the past that has made me so cynical.

21 Dec 2017 12:05:04
With Hogan, Gabby and Davis all back now and Green back as well I really believe we have a fighting chance to go on a run and get 2nd. If Hogan plays with Davis we could be a force 2 up top Saved Bruce his job earlier on in the season I say let's attack this League we have the players for it and When Terrys back aswel we will be right up there.

Our poor form lately has been down to injurys not bad management or players not trying if you took 5 of Wolves or Cardiffs players out they would suffer. I watch Villa I don't think we are negative or long ball at all nor do I think Bruce has got to use kids. Now players are coming back you watch us march on up the League.

One thing I do think Bruce needs to do is sell fringe players eg Bjarnsson Lansbury Elphick Richards if they don't play sell them even if they go for eg 1 million each we can loan a few players with the wages we save. This is a question I have got for everybody on here out of 10 how much does Aston Villa Entertain you when you watch them?

Why would you sell Lansbury.

5/ 10 for entertainment
This figure will not improve under Bruce in my opinion,
I am behind Bruce even though not a supporter of him as a manager for my club,
I'm not happy of some of the young players not being given a chance for a run in side,

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Dec 2017 18:19:10
1st of all chris, I just don't think Lansbury has had the impact we wanted him to he don't set up or score enough goals for a attacking Midfielder. Now Mainbob do you think Bruces style of play can get us promoted this year and would you keep Bruce if he doesn't get Aston Villa up this season? I don't think its Bruces fault but he does need to be better in the transfer market. people like bjarnsson, lansbury, james, bree even conor, hourilane an hogan an Whelan they are not influencing games like they should be the odd good games not good enough we need to be more consistent if we want to go up.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Dec 2017 19:06:23
Lansburys been injured all season and got us a point against Leeds away on his first game back from injury, sell him and use who as back up?

21 Dec 2017 19:36:38
I see WTW's point about Lansbury but he's definitely worth keeping around. There's proper deadwood to shift but it's easier said than done. A run of games with Davis and Hogan up front and not just 1 game will see us back to winning ways, 2nd place is up for grabs, go for it

21 Dec 2017 19:46:03
Buy better quality he was dropped by Bruce before he was injured if you remember when he was playing regular for Villa before he didn't make assists or score his a attacking midfielder who does set up or score. only my view not saying your wrong Chris just doesn't do enough for me there's better out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2017 23:07:16
Buy better? But you just said weā€™ve got no money to spend?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Dec 2017 23:54:47
At the moment there's no funds to spend but if we sold four or five of the dead wood there would be. We need players who are gona be 8 out of 10 most weeks I say lansburys a 6 out of 10. Somebody like Woods or Bannan would be great signings for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Dec 2017 08:48:17
Sell four or five players and only replace one of them, what about the rest? This master plan doesnā€™t have much thought behind it does it.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Dec 2017 08:57:34
We have been saying for years that we should get rid of the dead wood but there still here some on really big wages,
We have made poor signing and now we are stuck with them till there contract run out,

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Dec 2017 09:00:27
Woods and Bannan would be good signings, I agree. But the elephant in the room your ignoring is, we canā€™t buy them, we have to borrow them. The way this system works is they are loaned to get matches, recover from injuries, or as the club they are in canā€™t sell them.

Itā€™s great saying names, (I my self think we should look at Messi and Ronaldo a half season loan, we could buy them if we get promoted. ) the club that players are at will not loan any member of their 1st team playing staff. If you want these players, you have to buy, with an amount they canā€™t say no to.
So then you come to fact do they players that are available for loan, (fringe players) improve on whatā€™s already there?
The answer is no.

if we go for prem youngsters, they have no experience, and are they better than are own young players? No
If we go for champ squad members, players who are not good enough to play for our rivals, are they want we want? No
So you look abroad. takes months for players to bed into the English game. ask sherwood, or garde, so thatā€™s another no.

We need to see this season out, play to what we have, and use our own reasources. Youth.
I personally think we will sign 1 player on loan in jan, an argentine from Leicester.

16 Dec 2017 23:46:03
Just got back from derby and before everybody goes over the top I think we played well we just lack a striker. We do need to stop gifting teams goals but overall I think we was ok let's not be silly and say Bruce out or sell this player if we had Kodjia today we would of won we are a playoff team end of. Spare a thought for Birmingham City hahaha UTV On to the next one!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

17 Dec 2017 08:23:13
Canā€™t argue with that, more possession, more shots on goal. One man gifted them a goal then we had to go for it and they snatched another right at the death, if we had a goalscorer uptop it would have been 1-1 before the 70th minute, hogan missed two good chances, I think we need to give up on him now it doesnā€™t work, as much as people say ā€œwe donā€™t play to his strengthsā€ his a striker, his strengths should be scoring, he gets regular chances whenever he plays and always seems to fail.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2017 12:25:44
It s becoming a case of ifs, If Kodjia this, if so and so that, the fact is if Sh-t was rice pudding there would be no world starvation.

Not sure who you are answering wtw.
If it is me, I am giving my opinion on how I see it, we did not play a striker yesterday, why not, that is Steve Bruce`s fault is it not.
You will not score goals unless you have a pop at goal, we mess about too much doing nothing, and to be fair to Hogan he has not had a long enough run in the side.
This is where Bruce has to step up to the plate and tell his squad to play to Hogan`s strengths.
Football is very much a confidence sport, if Hogan scored a couple I am sure he would regain his.
Play and use what we have, Bruce I feel is not doing that enough, use O`hare and Mckirdy freshen things up a bit.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Dec 2017 18:27:30
Although I agree with nearly all of what youā€™ve said Dave I canā€™t have the hogan lines, he gets chances every time he plays and misses them, heā€™s had extended runs in the team, heā€™s had every type of service possible and he just doesnā€™t do it, Iā€™m resigned to the fact weā€™ve brought a dud. Sometimes certain players and clubs just donā€™t fit and this seems like one of them, thing is every time I see him on the team sheet bench or first 11 I want him to do well, more than anyone else because he has had awful injuries in the short time heā€™s been here, and if he found half the form he had at Brentford then weā€™d be comfortably play offs, but it just doesnā€™t ever happen. The only thing I think we havenā€™t given enough of a chance is him and Davis uptop in a simple 442, other than that he has had everything, and I canā€™t see us going with the 442 because Bruce wants a number 10 so he can get grealish in. We are bottom feeders, kind of like Lukaku, weā€™ll do really well against anyone we should be beating, if we play someone in and around us itā€™s only ever going to be 1 or 0 points.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2017 19:32:22
Chris although I agree with most of what you say in your post I must go back to Hogan, I think you will
find Hogan has made 31 appearances for us, some of those are off the bench so not a full game, only minutes.
Those 31 games include his signing and debut that really need to start with you hitting the ground running, also the two unfortunate injuries that he has suffered.
For me that is hardly a good run in the side, match fitness has to be regained after injuries as well.
I still think he would be I deal for us because of his mobility, he needs a player up font with him, and people behind who can see a pass and his intensions.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2017 19:42:42
Villa Dave, I think the reason Hogan and Gabby didn't start is simple they only just made the bench there no where near fit. I agree we need a striker but we need to box clever with them both if we rush them back and they get injured its going to spell even more trouble for us. We didn't play bad just a bit unlucky.

I can tell you now what we are watching is know where near the way Bruce wants to play but injurys are forcing his hand. Bruce hasn't spent a lot of money what I will say is this Hogan style excuse doesn't wash he has had chances and time in the team but his been rubbish its just not worked out for him.

At 1st I wasn't a Bruce fan but no way is it his fault its just bad look. Liverpool don't use strikers nobody says Klopp made a mistake. let's all stick together and get behind the team. Together we are stronger we Win together we lose together UTV.

17 Dec 2017 20:45:33
Hopefully we see Davis and Hogan up top soon Dave, with Hourihane or Lansbury to feed him, with Snodgrass now in the team thereā€™s someone else who would be able to find him and pick him out, and to be fair whenever Jedinak is played in his proper position he seems to be one of the best players weā€™ve got playing the ball, add John Terry to that and I think thatā€™s the best shot weā€™ve got of making Hogan work. Hopefully itā€™s not too long before we see it, Davis as the out ball when under pressure to get us out, Hogan the ball in behind when weā€™re attacking, Adomah to carry the ball forward, Jedinak winning everything in the middle and Hourihane and Snodgrass playing it forward.

The thing about Aston Villa is come Saturday there is about 32000 managers out there in the crowd. If Steve Bruce who watches the team in training everyday decides that these players aren't good enough to get in his team I will back him for the reason being what do I know I don't watch them in trining he wants to win more than anybody belive me if they was good enough they would be in the team. In years to come they might be good enough but at the moment I don't belive they are. What we need is a bit of help I believe that some of the senior players are letting us down to get promoted you got to want it and sometimes they don't show up. There are other things than just the transfer fee.
Wages, agents etc.
Although a player is on loan, still a fee is involved.
Then running costs, bad debt, from previous regimes.

Stop looking at the neighbours, this will catch them out as well. the first year after a takeover is a free reign. its the second year itch.

I would still take our squad above any other in this league. A cold winter, with many games will pull the men away from the boys. Remember, itā€™s a marathon not a sprint.

Hi WOW, I think Wolves are looking at FTP and thinking if they are promoted the Premier League will do nothing and the ELF might just fine them.
This is basically what happened to QPR when old Harry got them promoted, unfortunately for them they slipped back and were fined Ā£40m which nearly bankrupted them.
I suppose it might be worth a try for the Villa if we could buy a good finisher and a good midfielder and then get promotion.
Let's face it if all you have to worry about is a fine when you are in the Premiership its small beer.

I was about to write pretty much what Pluffy put, so if we were to loan for example a big hitter like Sturridge, on about Ā£100K a week, costing us roughly Ā£3M in wages, and we got promoted, we'd just cop a fine? If we went up, on top of the TV money, Dr Tony would have Chinese sponsors/ investors wanting to throw money at us, a fine is a small price to pay don't ya think? Come the end of the season we'll be Ā£50K+ better off when Gabby goes too, and any others out of contract, I'd take the gamble?

I would say I think we lack a goal threat not just strikers but I believe we need to get more players in the box as a team. All in all Iam still happy with where we are in the league considering injurys but let's not take nothing away from Millwall today they deserved at least a point MOTM Sam Johnstone fantastic.

Onomah needs to be in the box more he doesn't set up or score enough if his talking about going back to spurs he needs to up his game. Xmas period will let us know more but I still think we are a playoff team. Looking forward to Derby tho UTV.

According to reports Bruce is looking at McBurnie from Swansea on a loan deal.
Is he worth it or should we be looking at proven strikers who regularly appear on the score sheets when they get a game.
Now I don't trawl through the team sheets etc of other clubs but are a lot of players that merely keep a seat on the bench reserved for them.

Unlikely to get them but the likes of Austin, and Murray should be on the radar.
However Gayle could be a target.
We need the poacher that will fit in with our "style" of play.
Hogan seems lost in our ranks as we don't play to his, big John does what he wants Ć nd Gayle, Austin and Murray could be a fit.

Let us not get another no name that merely gets on the pitch.
We are all aware thar "fair play" comes into play but surely as we are now looking reasonable we could entice aa recognised player to join us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2017 17:32:11
Bit weird you said look at players that ā€œmerely keep a seat on the benchā€ and then go on to name 3 players that all started and scored in the premier league this weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 10:17:33
The 3 names don't merly get on the pitch they play.
The post said "not merely sit on the bench."
McBurnie sits on the bench, sometimes.
We need scorers that get at least a goal in every two games they play.
A simple add on, Palace look doomed and Benteke is not doing anything. Would we take him back should the opportunity arise? Fair play or fee could prove a stumbling block.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2017 17:43:55
We brought in 3 proven strikers last year, one is in Aus and 2 are out for most the season.

Rob Holding (Arsenal)
James Wilson (Man U)
Connor Wickham (Palace)
Personally I'd take all 3?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - if Wilson has recovered from his ACL injury, he would be a fantastic signing. Problem is that it can take years to fully recover from those injuries.}

03 Dec 2017 11:21:59
I've read it that he's got 5 goals in 5 games for the Man U U23's, with Ibrahimovic back he's not going to get near a 1st team start, I didn't know about the injury tbh, but I don't know if this is true, we had a shot at buying Falcao from River Plate not long after he had a similar injury for Ā£2M, we got Heskey in instead, sums Villa up don't it lol?

UTV.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is a waste of talent for him to be playing in the U23s. Falcao didn't suffer his ACL injury until a long time later mate. He was playing in Europe when it went. What a player he was and it took him 3 years to get back to anything like his best, but he was much older when he did his.}

03 Dec 2017 12:00:42
Holding would be decent, when heā€™s played for Arsenal 90% of the time he makes the centre halves around him look like the inexperienced ones. Canā€™t see that happening tho as Iā€™m sure theyā€™ve only got 4 centrebacks and they got tore a new one yesterday. I remover Wilson doing well at Brighton didnā€™t know heā€™d done his ACL. Wickham would fit right in, we set up for a big man who can hold it up and wait for players to get around them.

{Ed001's Note - it was Wilson doing his ACL that started the chain of events that led to Rashford getting a shot. Though it was meant to be Ashley Fletcher, he had to pull out at the last minute, Rashford was drafted in and the rest, as they say, is history.}

What about Origi from Liverpool on loan until the end of the season?

He needs games to put himself into contention for bBelgium and also to put himself into the shop window too.

{Ed001's Note - he is on loan with Wolfsburg.}

Hasnā€™t thought of Wickham till he was mentioned, would be good at this level. Solanke would be excellent but he gets minutes occasionally for Liverpool. Ings is a quality striker but if hogan canā€™t get a sniff in our system, be hard to see Ings doing well. We spread goals around the team and play best when we have a forward who plays with their back to goal, give the centre halves something to think about and hold it up until others get around them. But Leeds exposed that as they bullied Davis and then we couldnā€™t get up the pitch. Hopefully when (not if) we go up we get benteke back, really kept us up alone for 3 seasons, can play the big man with back to goal but just as good with it on the deck running at and in behind a back line.

I obviously was watching a different game chris, Davis led the line well it was josh and the midfield who failed to support the striker for the first half.
