Anybody else noticed that over the last 2 days the odds of Tammy joining wolves with bookies have gone from 5-1 to 5-2, and today 11-4. That's a little shocking (and worrying).

He had to be recalled by the 14th. He can’t have his loan cancelled now until end of season.

No shock to me that the day before our next home game the club issue a statement suggesting negotiations are ongoing - almost identical to just prior to last home game against southampton. I predicted this - and I just think it's an attempt to get fans on board prior to home games.

i agree with you mate selling season tickets as big ron said don't tell me show me.

2.) 07 May 2016 09:05:49
I hope you are both wrong.
But I wouldn't put it past Lerner.

Fingers crossed

3.) 07 May 2016 12:50:54
There is still no concrete offer on the table for our club. RL has found a brand new puppet in Hollis who is now the one feeding us his latest line in BS. Bernstein and King leave concerned in the lack of progress in finding a buyer and equally the lack of interest in resolving issues on the playing side. When they left talk of a buyout surfaced, last game of the season and protests planned lap of honour cancelled, more buyout chat from Hollis. We are not all as stupid as you would like to believe Lerner. Grow a pair and tell us the truth we deserve that at least. Without us your investment is worth nothing let alone £100 million. We are the club not you are any of your employees.

I believe the takeover is progressing nicely. We have signed three of the most expensive players we have ever signed in quick succession over the last few weeks. My thoughts are that we are trying to do most of our business prior to announcing any new owner as it's well known a takeover could encourage selling clubs to increase their asking price. So I'm not panicking yet. Thoughts ?

Woodsville55

1.) 28 Jul 2015 01:55:56
Given NOTHING has been announced, and the cash is being splashed, you might be onto something!

2.) 28 Jul 2015 06:59:02
If you have a car you want to sell and is in need of extensive repair do you spend a few quid on doing it up to keep it road worthy, to get a good sale price for it? We are still for sale and need this injection of players to keep us on the premiership road as with TV money we would surely devaluate if any buyer thought we would crash out of the PL. RL is a business man so won't get too excited about any take over until the maths of spend are so high they go well over £40m CB and FD and the £20 plus we would have spent probably to try and stay up!

3.) 28 Jul 2015 07:11:40
I think the new owner is being clever & has a agreement with Lerner, I may be well off but this is what I thinks actually happening.
I think by Lerner spending a lot of money say £50m before the takeover then selling the club for say £200m and not £150m will be a way around the Financial FairPlay rules.
Man City got around it by renaming their stadium the emirates for £500m.
Like I said could be wrong but seems very odd how Lerner has gone from a penny pincher to splashing the cash during a take over.
In theory that £50m then becomes money made by club turn over eg self sustained meaning the new owner could spend even more.

4.) 28 Jul 2015 07:28:08
Think we have cut a shed load of wage bill and players in so far wouldn't be on that much

5.) 28 Jul 2015 07:47:04
I'm hearing we have been sold to a consortium led by Henry leconte, we are apparently changing name to Aston le villa and will in a shock move that will shake europes foundations take our place in ligue une next season turnin our backs on the EPL

6.) 28 Jul 2015 09:59:31
We still haven't actually spent anything jus reinvested the money from Benteke and co's sales

{Ed002's Note - That is "spending".}

7.) 28 Jul 2015 10:50:02
While I do agree the takeover is still progressing am I the only one that thinks the money we are spending is coming from the sale of players?

So far this window we have made around £35-£40m in transfer fees and shipped out massive wages with these going.
Delph, Benteke, Bent, Luna, Given, Lowton, Weimann, Vlarr, Cleverly, Sylla.
That's probably £350k a week in wages saved!

So with roughly £28m spend on players and all on lower wages than the players going out, Lerner is by no way making a loss.

As much as I am excited about our new signings, personally I think if they were being funded by a new buyer with mega money we would be going for already established premier league players who would push us towards top half football, not keeping us in the league. The likes of Townsend, Bolaise, Austin.

Looking at the sales compared to buys I think we need at least 4/5 more players to come in.

Hopefully there is more money to spend and the buying continues!

8.) 28 Jul 2015 12:38:12
Haha Ed what i meant was Lerner hasn't actually invested any additional funds yet but at least he's allowed all the money earned to be reinvested in the squad

9.) 28 Jul 2015 16:27:36
Lerner wanted the club to be self sufficent which it is , no new owner imo

Jordan Amavi - anybody know if his contract ran down at Marseille? In terms of us needing a back up for Targett, also a player that can operate anywhere down the left I would certainly welcome him back.

Woodsville55

1.) 09 Jun 2021 09:34:19
If he’s on a free it’s a no brainer, and if Deano don’t fancy Guilbert, get Axel in and we have (quality) replacents for our full backs that have been released, and for less than £10M

UTV.

2.) 09 Jun 2021 16:38:30
I think Jordan Amavi signed a new contract with Marseille up to June 2025.

What your views on Courtney Hause? I really don't rate him on the Ball. Looks really uncertain when in possession. He does win headers, but I wouldn't suggest he is an attacking threat in the air as he lacks control / direction. I think he's been given long enough to prove himself now. Ok a spare to put in when we are winning to win long balls in air. So really I'd think it's a great time to make our move on Tuanzebe. Lot more comfortable on the ball.

Woodsville55

1.) 19 Sep 2020 16:10:26
I have said it many times Woody, On the ball he is very poor, too slow, hesitates, and he lacks awareness.
He is ok for cover simply because he can cover two positions LB / CB.

2.) 19 Sep 2020 16:54:03
Frankly if Konsa or Mings get injured we’re struggling, because I haven’t got a lot of faith in Engels either.
It doesn’t look like there are currently any good options from the younger ranks either, if the recent thrashing they got from Sunderland U23 is anything to go by. Both Bridge and Revan played in that game, so it doesn’t suggest they are ready to make the step up yet.
So all in all if nobody is brought in before the end of this window, we will have to pray that neither Konsa or Mings get injured before the next one in January.

3.) 19 Sep 2020 18:17:13
That`s not strictly true Mark, Ramsey played in that game as well, and he performed admirably against Burton.
I think as individuals some players can transform, and they do, so I would not read too much into that result mate, it was a collective bunch of youngsters, its not the same.

4.) 19 Sep 2020 18:37:39
Yeah Dave, but they were the central defenders mate and they lost 8-1.

5.) 19 Sep 2020 19:30:49
I see what you are saying Mark, we see it a bit differently that`s all, so best left mate.

6.) 19 Sep 2020 19:56:43
Don’t get me wrong Dave, I hope I’m wrong and that Sunderland’s goals were all from speculative 40 yard shots and that there was nothing Bridge and Revan could have done to prevent the goals, for example, or maybe the Goalie just nodded off. Usually though if you concede 8 goals it has a lot to do with poor defending generally.
It will be interesting to see how they react to a defeat of that magnitude, hopefully positively, because we could certainly do with a young central defender coming through.

7.) 19 Sep 2020 20:09:26
They beat Norwich 3 - 1 yesterday Mark.

8.) 19 Sep 2020 20:38:37
That’s encouraging Dave, I really hope they keep it up. Sometimes a heavy defeat can have a positive effect on a team. Southampton are a good example of that after losing 9-0 at home to Leicester, they climbed the table and even beat Leicester in the return game, if I remember right.

9.) 19 Sep 2020 21:32:50
They beat Norwich U-23 3-0. but lost 3-1 to Baggies U-23s conceding 2 penalties. The thing about the Sunderland hammering was the nature of so many of their goals, with the defenders (Bridge, the Revan bros) and the ‘keeper (Sanisalo) getting absolutely bullied. Ironically one of them alongside Tyrone or Ezri might fare better in the EPL but I’d be very concerned. With Engels out of favour and seemingly never fit, a new, right-footed CB is becoming a priority signing.

03 Sep 2020 23:45:48
SkyBet odds on Villa signing Watkins were 1/ 5 yesterday. Today they are 1/ 10. Nailed on I'd say.

Woodsville55

1.) 04 Sep 2020 09:40:51
And Watkins ‘liked’ Matty Cash’s tweet about his delight at joining us yesterday. I have a feeling everything is in place just fine-tuning the fee with Brentford. Hopefully!

21 Jun 2019 09:09:07
What's everybody's view on these three (and any other youth / development players) .
Kiernan Davis, Callum O'hare, RHM?

Personally I'd like to see O'hare play more, andvthink he could have done if we stayed in championship. Davis could do a job up top but I wonder if he is the player to take us where the club belongs. RHM just far too injury prone. So maybe loan out O'hare and Davis to championship (no lower), RHM should be released.

Woodsville55

1.) 21 Jun 2019 13:50:16
Davis only really going to work with another striker up top until he can add goals to his game, hopefully send him out to a championship side and get him game time.

O’hare did well at Carlisle, is he going to be good enough for prem? Not going to be a starter so loan out again but at a higher level.

RHM didn’t pull up any trees at Cambridge, either give him another loan to impress or sell.

So all three i'd loan out, they need games and we need results so their not going to get much time until they can prove themselves. Look at Harvey Barnes, needed to prove himself to Leicester so went to baggies on loan, did well and got recalled in Jan. if they want to play that’s what they need to do.

My heart goes out to all those affected in the events at our close friends Leicester City. Let's just remember, next time we boo a player or manager, next time we criticise a performance or a decision, next time we demand a sacking or a dropped player, next time we fight amongst ourselves: life changes in an instant.

Sport provides us an opportunity to support our clubs and communities. We are all human. We all want the best. Nothing is more important than our health, security and well being. Don't do anything that could harm others - you never know when your chance for forgiveness will be taken from you.

It’s done. Well, the fee is agreed. But since Joe Bryan I don’t consider any deal done until the photo shoot.

Why isn’t Rashida with the squad and training then? If it’s been done for months?

Woodsville55

{Ed001's Note - because he is talking crap, he was all set to move to RB Leipzig until recently. All terms etc agreed with him, but they couldn't agree a fee with his club. They only walked away a week or so ago and that is when Villa and Napoli stepped in to try and make a deal.}

As soon as a player signs for villa he automatically seems to become one of the highest paid players in the division - which ultimately leads to a lack of ‘move on’ options when things don’t pan out, unless the player is prepared to take a pay cut, or. a club fighting for promotion (hopefully always similar to us / therefore a rival) are willing to gamble.

Let’s be honest, the mid-low table teams aren’t going to pay £40k per week to one player who can’t take the club beyond its current level. As for lower clubs wanting to survive - the likes of hogan won’t drop to play for Rotherham. That’s my view anyway. Let’s hope he scores the winner for sheff united against Norwich / Leeds and assists us that way hmm.

I was trying to consider how Bruce would have set up for games away to boro and WBA. It makes it clear why he failed. I predict this could be close to his selection.
Nyland
Rb tuanzebe
Cb Chester
Cb Jedi / bree
Lb Hutton
Rm Elmo
Cdm Whelen
Cm hourihane
Lm kodja
Am Grealish
St Abraham

Subs bolasie, hogan, bla bla bla

So little creativity. Compare that to smiths selwction. Admittedly he has less injuries to contend with and bolasie was always going to take time. But I also believe smith would not have loaned out elphick or green. All if’s, but’s and maybe’s but it’s fairly easy so see why Bruce failed.

Just a little point - Chelsea v Manchester United attendance 40,000 ( just over ) Aston Villa v Swansea 41,000 (just over) . Brilliant work Villa fans 😊😊.

I’d have him at Villa even if he just stood in the centre circle and his only role was to take corners and free kicks.

If we are keeping Jack and I was Dean smith I would definitely sign a specialist Free Kick Taker. Can you imagine how many goals / chances we would have created if we had somebody like James Ward - Prowse. Jack is fouled so often that we miss out when we have somebody like Traore taking free kicks.

I’d sign Amavi for LB / LW competition (£0)
Tammy cf £40m
Toney Cf £30

Then play Watkins/ Tammy/ Toney as an interchanging front 3. Jack in midfield.

Bring back Guilbert and get rid of trez / el ghazi - ensuring our youth starts making the match day squad.

I would love our front 3 next year to be Grealish LF, Tammy CF, Watkins RF - all could interchange. If we could also add Toney to that mix that would allow Grealish to play in the middle. - if I was playing Football Manager right now - I’d be happy with that. BUT, I would also like to see openings for some of our exciting youth. So if we added quality, I think the likes of Trez, anwar, Davis would have to leave. I’d love for Wesley to come back strong - let’s wait and see.

For me, I’d prefer to use the money from not signing Barkley to sign Ivan Toney. That would mean Watkins could play out on left (he works hard enough) Toney up front (but they would be interchangeable) with Grealish then in middle.
