Question for you lads.
Which player from our glorious past would you play in our current side, who would you play them in place of, and above all why.

12 Mar 2018 19:00:17
Bit left field but. Peter Schmeical, in goal (obviously) and because of his winning mentality and motivational skills. Woulda been Laursen/ Mellberg/ Milner or Angel, but in those positions we are set for where we're at

UTV.

cowans in for houlinan
Master of the long pass and his terrific energy was a joy to watch.
He made David Platt the player he become,
Look at the assists he had with him in team,

13 Mar 2018 10:32:56
Houlinan? 😂.

13 Mar 2018 12:48:07
Bob I certainly agree with Sid, what a player he was . As you say he made David Platt into the player he was at Villa . Mentioning Platt, he’s the only ex Villa player I’ve heard who never seems to have a good word to say about the club .
Tonight let’s hope there is no sitting back, after the euphoria of Saturday . QPR will be out to try and stop us playing tonight, they will make it hard . Hopefilly, with Jack, Albert& Snoddy, we will have more than enough to unlock them Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

13 Mar 2018 15:25:18
Danny Blanchflower.
He would provide the balls for everyone on the pitch.
Smooth as silk.
Who would miss out, unfortunately Hourihane, another Irish man.
BUT Mcgrath would rid us of Jedinak and Whellan.
Dream on!

13 Mar 2018 19:15:09
Sid Cowans all day long for me.

12 Mar 2018 13:10:22
neil taylor or alan hutton (when fit) ?

12 Mar 2018 14:16:04
Hutton just gives so much effort all the time.

12 Mar 2018 14:57:11
Brynner that's a good question mate, especially after Saturday.
I do like Hutton with his commitment and passion.
But I would have to go with Taylor, mainly because of age and long term prospects.

12 Mar 2018 15:58:18
Hutton for me, I'm staggered how much he has turned my opinion through sheer determination. If I were picking my best team for a one off game he's one of the first names for me at the moment. I don't think we concede that goal on Saturday with him in the team and I believe that adomah plays with more freedom in front of him.
Villadave, you say Taylor's age goes for him, but he is 29 so not too far behind Hutton.
On performances this season, if/ when we go up, he deserves another year.

12 Mar 2018 16:33:46
I agree he deserves another year contract, and I see what your saying, you may well be right, Hutton has been great.
The age thing is 4 and a half years difference, Hutton will be 34 come November, Taylor was 29 last month.

12 Mar 2018 16:46:05
Two years ago most fans were ripping Hutton to shreds, how times change.
If we go up I have a feeling He would be found wanting somewhat in the prem, especially as left back is not his true position.
Just another reason I went for Taylor.

12 Mar 2018 17:48:55
Hutton everyday for me, desire, and passion we all know about. but he is better on the ball than Taylor. A few times on sat he sailed very close to the wind.
Also. Taylor still loses his head, and flys into certain challenges that make me cringe. Was lucky that he wasn’t shown a red against wolves.

13 Mar 2018 19:17:39
slightly off the original point but in Hutton's favour is that he could play left or right - which prompts another question -
Elmo or Hutton?

12 Mar 2018 13:09:49
My prediction for tomorrow's match: Aston Villa-QPR 4-0.

12 Mar 2018 14:00:45
That 4_0 prediction is well attainable after the weekends result. Be nice to have villa park packed out again even if it is a week day fixture. The twelth mans roar on saturday played a major part in our win so it would be nice to replicate it tmoz. Another three points tomorrow keep the pressure on those in and around us will do nicely. A definate win for us can't invisage a slip up on our part.

12 Mar 2018 14:23:24
After the old mayors show and all that!
I am thinking of a 1-0 win,
Longs we win that's all that matters.

12 Mar 2018 17:43:02
1 - 0 will do me!

12 Mar 2018 11:06:25
Hi what a result and so nice to be back on the European road didn't expect to beat real Madrid by that many what a crap away kit they wore gold and black.

12 Mar 2018 10:14:45
Just looking at the table and does anyone along with me think that millwall could make the play-off!
They are on a great run at the moment and are coming under the radar,
Derby/ Bristol c/ sheff utd are all fading at this time,
Like I said yesterday the one match I fear is the last one against millwall.
Just a thought!

12 Mar 2018 14:39:50
That’s a real good shout Bob and not as daft as it sounds mate.
They are playing really well and have been slowly chipping away at the teams above them, I think they may have left themselves just a bit too much to do though.
But I do think they will have a big say in the final positions, they have got to play five of the top 6 before the season ends.
I hope they don’t need three points against us last match of the season to make the playoffs, especially if we need a result as well, our record against Millwall is not good at the Den.
My joints squeak enough as it is, don’t want the bum to start squeaking as well.

12 Mar 2018 17:46:18
My mate is a Millwall fan and he can't wait for the last game.
He reckons that one team will be crying at the end of the game.
Hope we have secured our spot before then.

12 Mar 2018 09:34:57
Well did not see that coming. one of the best team performances I have seen at Villa Park for many years, could not say anyone had a bad game. I was not a big fan of Grealish before this season I thought he was talented but ran into blind alleys. since is injury he has matured into a player and he reminds me of Gazza, and that can't be bad. Hope he continues to develope and if he does we will have some player on our hands. JT for me has been the signing of the season not only on the pitch but in the dressing room as well. Snoddy has impressed me with not only his skill, but his desire and work rate. Grabban looks like he can poach goals, and Thor what an improvement - for me has to start against QPR.

{Ed's Note - Tris Burke has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 12th March 2018

There's a nasty rumour going around this site that Villadaz it talking
common sense! i'm not having any of it! lol! -fair play to you Daz, but can i also add to the roll-call of contributions Steve Agnew, he and Brucie seem to click when they work together, i'm not getting too excited yet because of fulham, but it beats the feeling of 12 months ago when we were looking down at those in the relegation zone, compared to now, for me, the most important player is going to be grealish, he seems to be the man with the defence splitting passes, but all the boys are upping their game, beers on walkies! UTV!
