Does anyone out there know of an out of contract C/H?
We need this before anything happens regarding a top 6 place.
Jack could be back this weekend but if we leave the gate open all and sundry will walk through or bypass.

One man could mean we get into the playoffs, but who? We could advertise across the world and see if anyone, someone comes forward.
We could do a deal as with JT last year of a wage plus a bonus if we get through the playoffs.

I would offer my services, my old boots are now cleaned down, blood removed and nails knocked in, but I would probably get sent off after a couple of games.

Find a shin kicker, not the opposition, our players. that's what we need.
Villadave, no need for you to apply, I have already sent your name to the powers that be.
We can score em but we can't stop them.

TOV, bit naive if you don't mind me saying we are short in more than the Ch position, that wouldn't solve all our problems.

2.) 26 Feb 2019 19:28:36
I agree oldvillan, George Curtis and Dick Edwards spring to mind, maybe a tad past it now, shame.
Thanks for forwarding my name mate, problem is I used to play A/ M consequently ended up having my shins kicked by people like you, haha.

3.) 26 Feb 2019 20:43:35
Nothing personal.
HeeHee.

4.) 26 Feb 2019 20:51:07
Scotty
We are scoring goals so we are ok up front.
We are conceding goals at the back.
Where is the problem?
The defence need a leader.
One good signing could have organised the back line.
No father figure, no guidance, no motivator.
Where is the naivety? JT did it all last season and that's what we are missing.

Assuming the rumour is correct, should we sell Kodjia to Angers and for what price or do we keep him as Tammy will almost certainly not be with us next season?

Theoldvillan

1.) 21 Jan 2019 15:46:10
Yes oldvillan I think we should sell him, Kodjia does have his moments, and can at times change a game, problem is he is not a team player.
I think he is a bit erratic at times and would be a much better player if he looked up occasionally to see where he is going, and spot his team mates movements.
Sell and invest in a quality attacking midfielder, reason being we are very ordinary when Jack is out.

2.) 21 Jan 2019 17:02:24
I'd agree with the post from Villadave. Kodjia can look like a world beater at times, the trouble is that those times are far too rare. His ability to conjure something out of nothing is far outweighed by his lack of composure, the way he often delays a pass or a move breaks down because of him not being in sync with others. To be fair he has been played out of position this season though. He's still got a decent record, decent market value and certainly wish him well after helping us out, but time to move on and get a bit more value for money. easier said than done I know in January though. Same could be said of Bolasie too. must be well over £100k a week between them so let's free up some space in our squad, develop Green and get maybe another in to make a bit more of a consistent contribution.

3.) 22 Jan 2019 10:36:33
The problem now is if we do sell him we will have less than a week to replace him and could end up not bringing anyone in due the lack of time left.
With Bolasie now gone back to Everton it looks like Green will be expected to fill the gap. Maybe by shifting 70k a week off our payroll will release some money for investment. We need it!
We have got ourselves into a proper mess over the past 4 - 5 weeks, probably since the Albion game to be honest. Before that game we were looking forward to a transfer window that would enable us to push for promotion. Since then however we have conceded an average 2+ goals a game at home (not even counting the 5 we conceded to Forest! ), not won at home since we beat blues (2 months ago! ) .
We are now looking at teams below us (not above us) and the transfer window is becoming one of short term fix (again! ) to get us to the end of the season.
I'm not blaming the current management team but after the initial 'honeymoon' period we have been woeful. Grealish's absence has been a factor, probably more than anyone would have thought. Add to that Tuanzebe's injury, which has also been a factor.
Best we can hope for this season is upper mid-table.
We need some rabbits pulled out of hats over the next week or so that's for sure.

According to other sites Charlie Colkutt signing imminent.

Theoldvillan

1.) 20 Jan 2019 15:42:17
Why do we want him he can't even get in Shrewsbury team.

2.) 20 Jan 2019 18:43:35
Don't ask me.
I want a miserable centre half who hates everybody, including his team mates.
Someone they have to keep locked up and starving until kick off.

08 Jan 2019 21:25:04
Just seen a report that we are looking at Adam Reach from the Owls and talking 10m.
Anyone else know about this?

Theoldvillan

1.) 09 Jan 2019 05:38:44
Yes I've seen a few reports of this. Be an interesting one to follow.

2.) 12 Jan 2019 16:50:31
Take more than signing him to stop us sliding down the league.

02 Jan 2019 14:01:44
Wolves in with £18 for Abrahams as they want a permanent deal.

Theoldvillan

1.) 02 Jan 2019 15:43:23
Reports now coming out - Chelsea have no interest of selling Tammy.

I have seen a couple of stories regarding the owners of PSG looking to buy a sleeping giant in the English leagues with enormous potential and AVFC have been named as a possible target.
Would our current owners sell us off and make a profit?
They have invested heavily and I guess that they will be looking for a return very soon. Between them they have massive wealth but a profit is a profit and offered enough then they could accept. Business is business.
Has anyone else read anything about this rumour?

Theoldvillan

1.) 15 Apr 2019 00:30:07
Iv also seen the rumour, but would our owners want to sell out already? PSG owners are fantastically rich, but our owners aren’t to bad off either, would they want to sell up for a few mill prophet? When the came in, they stated they where in, for the long haul . Since then they have invested a lot of money . They have hopefully, sorted the fair play problem and paid off Dr T, this has taken a lot of money .
Also I was reading, that if PSG did become involved, this could cause problems with, the powers that be .
The position we are in at the moment, I can’t see them wanting out . If perhaps we don’t go up, then it perhaps could be a different story . From what we have seen so far, the new owners do seem committed. But at the end of the day, they are business men .
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

Overall the team looked tired last night.
Efforts of the last few weeks are showing and now we lose man mountain Mings.
Referee played a blinder, a typical homer. Kept his card in his pocket when Jack was chopped down but an inocuous hand ball got Mings sent off.
Voykes should have had at least 3 yellows for fouls and kicking the ball away.
Yes the ref played a blinder.
Kodjia had a point to prove and I think he did just that. He wants to prove that he can replace Tammy next year and he did what was needed.
Whatever McGinn is taking, I want some. Non stop and so willing, he is available for any ball. Hope he stays with us regardless next season
As others have posted a good win, pretty average performance but a win.
Now for the robins and Lee Johnson. Says he is a Villa man but says a lot of sh. t about us in interviews.
Big game, important result.
A win any way possible.

Oh Lord won't you buy us Tyrone Mings,
He's wanted by others but here's the thing,
we've waited so long for a touch of class,
Now its our turn, bring us his a--e.
Janice Joplin 1971.
We have been waiting for a player of his calibre for so long to hold the back line.
Mellburg and Laursen plus a few of the past generations all rolled into one.
Should we get up to the prem we must do everything to secure his signature.
I hope that our owners are able to fund such a transfer.
Do we have an option to match offers if Cherries let him go?

Theoldvillan

1.) 31 Mar 2019 22:07:14
Thought all of our January loans were with the option to buy.

29 Mar 2019 15:42:35
Interesting "news" from MUFC regarding TZ.
Really hope that they are happy to let him return to us.
This would be very important as we will lose Man mountain Mings at the season end, unless we reach the objective the prem.
However If TZ does return and Mings doesn't then Hause would move to left sided CB and in theory we have a pair of strong CB's plus Chester who could fit in as a back 3 and we should then be in business.
Does anyone fancy a back 3?
Would give us 4 or 3 +1 in the middle and 2 or 3 across the front.
Deano has to be inventive with what we have as he won't have a big budget
to work with.
Win tomorrow and strengthen our playoff spot.

Seems that most news at the moment is good news.
But let's not get too far infront of ourselves
Personally I don't give a toss about the situation at the cow shed. I am more worried about what we could lose if we don't get promotion.
We certainly will make the playoffs but the last step is anybodys at this time.
Not making promotion then we certainly lose Man Mountain Mings, story coming out of MUFC is that TZ will be going back, finally Chelsea will want Tammy back.
Even if we make it then we could still lose all three!
getting promotion and we might keep Mings and TZ but not Tammy so will need Deano to pinch Maupay.
The old saying "It ain't over till the fat lady sings" was never so true so keep her singing Deano.

Win at the cow shed and we go above BCFC.
Forest and Hull play each other so again a win at the cow shed and we can be in 8th.
GD better than Derby who play Wigan and Wednesday and the way they are going they could lose both so we could go 7th.
Lets believe
Our talisman is back, and did we see a more advanced roll for Hourihane?
Mathematically we are ok, we can make it. Every season we have a dip in form and then we rally.
This season is no different.
WE CAN DO IT, BELIEVE! I DO.

One might question his brains, even in jest.
Birmingham or Milan.
Mmm some decision to make.
A wet day, no sunshine for 2 months and a lot of Villa fans bemoaning our luck.
No decision.
Great culture, amazing architecture, high fashion, exciting food.
Only one choice
The great city of Birmingham wins hands down.
Who needs sunshine?
What could be better than the canals?
More hills than Rome?
More green space than any major European city.
The greatest curry houses outside Asia.
Yes Birmingham just scrapes it!

Who wants alternative to a Friday night curry?
How can anyone ignore the library, when its open?

PLay 3 across the back as we did pre 1966. Chester, TZ and Mings
Old wing halves secured the pitch in front of them and even behind.
2 inside forwards, now 8 and 10, 2 wingers and the number 9.

The 8 and 10 could come through to support the front 3 at anytime and drop back if needed.
Sort of 3 2 2 3. Or 3 4 3.

No probs.
I get you a pair of big boots and we play 2 at the back, you left me right.
You know the way an attacking midfield plays so you revere your role and I just do what I always did.
We could start Sunday at the cow shed.
Should manage to inflict some damage.
Once we are on the road the other Dave's will be with us.

Dave looks like we are on our own, and I ain't a Dave.
Should we go one at the back and one up front or could you cover midfield and forward line and I will get the big boots out across the back and get Triplex to get a piece of toughened glass 24ft x 8ft.

Do we have a full team of Daves?
Bit of fun, not much on here, list yourselves position and see if we can get a top Xl.
What a team sheet.
Dave
Dave Dave Dave Dave
Dave Dave
Dave Dave Dave

Res Dave

Dave

Gone 4 at the back, with 2 d/ midfield, then 3 providers and a final Dave up front.
Sorry for the ref when he undoubtedly books Dave for simulation of Dave, sorry Dive.
