Could be a master stroke… if you’re good enough, you’re old enough. Not sure how true these rumours are, Emery has pretty much total control of the football operation at Villa, he won’t get that at any other club and I’m not sure having to work with InEOS and the Glazers would be that attractive. However time will tell and as Alain these kind of things money talks. If he does go I am sure we will live to regret it in the long term

You know the old saying about, careful what you wish for . With what’s happening at the moment, hope it doesn’t but this could really end badly. We all agree there’s things happening we’ve all got opinions on . Emery is no idiot, he knows things, ideas have got to change . He was right about the idol defending, three players just stood and watched, instead of defending the ball, for their goal . Personally I think some players have become a bit comfortable. Despite what Tom says, I think Mings should get the captaincy back, he’s by far our best defender and organiser . I love Ginny for his tenacity, but have to agree at times that’s just not enough. As I said when we get a full midfield complement back, I don’t think we will see him as much . With Ollie he’s always been a confidence player, so Emery has to sort out his supply chain . Ok if he’d scored that chance at the end, we wouldn’t have had all this, a win would have calmed everybody down .

Have heard something today that explains a lot, Martinez loss of form included. He's been completely sold down the river by Amorim .as far back as July, Martinez was approached by Amorim, saying how much he wanted him at Man U, then only inquired about a loan . Word is that Martinez never left Bodymoor all day waiting for the call . We've said about how his form had dropped as if head wasn't fully on it .

VJ you’ve got non league and small kids getting picked up by agents now, they are a curse . First one I knew of was a lad I worked at the Rover with, Vince Okiefe . He played in goal for Torquay, then got picked up by Blackburn, waited ages for his chance, eventually got in and played great . Sadly he suffered a terrible leg break and had to give the game up . He was offered the chance of a job with the FA, this gave him the opportunity to become an agent, he had some top players in his time, one was Chris Sutton .

How did it take that dirty bugger Phalhinia so long to get booked., don't care how early it was, that tackle on Kamara was a booking .
Great first half, some brilliant football, not been a fan of Buendia starting, but just how good was he . Not only his goal, but his touches were absolutely superb, little flicks and back heels .
Bogard also was at it in midfield, getting a foot in and laying it off . When Spurs finally woke up, they made it much harder second half .
Overall a good team performance, let's just hope a get a good draw next leg . How about at Villa park, against the noses and shut them up . UTV

Simons on cash at the start was another blatant yellow card, the ref was terrible. Paulinha fouled all game and if the ref had of done his job right the Roger’s tackle wouldn’t of happened, let him away with it he will keep doing it.

I thought Bogard made quiet a few mistakes tonight and lucky we didn’t conceded from any of them. Bogard is best when he keeps it simple, his football brain will grow and his footwork will get better, Kamara will teach him, he is a great squad player but not a good enough replacement yet if we were to lose Kamara.

I share your general frustration but I think part of the problem is communication. As things stand, fans are reliant on either stadium screens (or commentators if watching on tv) to pass on the message that an incident is being checked. Commentators don't always relay everything that is being checked and I suspect that in-stadium updates are only announced for 'ongoing' checks.but in reality there are probably more checks than we realise.
Definitely room to improve the process and comms to fans.
As a side note, one thing I've noticed a lot of in recent weeks that VAR haven't picked up on is keepers launching throws from the edge of their box and clearly handling it outside the box.it happened against Chelsea in the 50 something minute.mind boggling how VAR can miss them, some of them.

The problem is that in most of these cases the managers are coming in to a scenario where the manager/coach is having to work with a sporting director they have never worked with before or don’t even know, we are lucky in that Emery has worked with Vidagany before and they work well together.
Add to that Emery has the final say on all football matters means we have a settled structure which no doubt plays a big part in our success on the field.
