It’s amazing what you hear during the transfer window in terms of who we are looking at whose coming/going etc. I’ve been told that despite everything heard to the contrary Asensio will be a Villa player come the 1st of September but I think I’m going to take a leaf out of Whack’s book and I’ll believe it when/if it happens

Assensio doesn’t make sense to me but I wouldn’t be overly surprised if it happened, we don’t see what Emery sees. who would you rather have back between Assensio luiz or grealish?

I like all 3 as players but we have enough cover in terms of defensive midfield positions in my view so I don’t think Luiz would be a priority, and it’s a toss up between Grealish and Asensio but I would slightly favour the latter as I think he is more clinical in front of goal.

Been watching a few fans YouTube's about what they've made of our pre season so far and what formation we've been in, looking like it's 3 centre halves and wingbacks. So that says to me why are a few on here obsessed with wingers or buying wingers? Unless you're paying silly money, most wingers are 1 in 5 matches good/effective, always been that way, look to the past with Walter's, Daley etc. Only wingers from memory that have been week in week out good were Giggs when he started out, Damian Duff, Ovemars. For width we've got Maatsen on the left, Garcia could do it on the right though Dumfries would be the ideal

I think Emery is trying 3 at the back as an option so that in certain games we are ready to deploy that as a system or maybe even change to 3 at the back in tight games when we are ahead. I don’t think he will deploy it week in week out particularly as we seem to be targeting a right sided centre back, right back and winger allegedly.

I think the back 3 is only because Konsa is away. I don't think he trusts anyone of the youngsters in a 2 and doesn't seem to want 2 with the same dominant foot either.

This is an intriguing 1. rumoured that we're looking at the Brazilian keeper John Victor of Botfogo, Utd looking at him as well, has a release cause of around £8M, looks decent on YouTube, so if we were to sell Emi for £30M+ and get Victor and the guy from Brest for roughly £10M, good business imo ?

Yes, but Brest are in the French 2nd tier so why would Bizot be a replacement for Emi? I also suspect that one or two United rejects might be coming our way since apparently, following the Bizot signing, they have formally pitched in for Emi. Perhaps Onana is one of them? Plus they want Ollie so we could end up with Rashford (with his wages cut) and/or Garnacho ?

To be honest Allstar I don’t really want Martinez to go whilst I know we need to raise money I think other players are easier to replace, keepers with his abilities are rare. So for me at the risk of being somewhat controversial I would let Chelsea have Rogers for Jackson plus a cash adjustment in our favour. Similarly I would let Utd have Watkins for Garnacho plus another cash adjustment I’d then look to sign Asensio who I think would replace Rogers goals and assists and take Elliott and Luiz on loan with options to buy. I think as a squad we would be stronger we would have generated cash to address the PSR/SCR issues and reduce the average age of the squad.

I honestly think Emi has peaked, it’s all downhill from for him from here so I’d cash in. I can see Rogers leaving and we will make a tidy profit on him. Just get this feeling we’re going to end up with Felix, if Unai can get him ticking then we wouldn’t miss Rogers. I’m not panicking yet, tbh I think all we need is a replacement for Carlos and Duran was never replaced, if we go with the squad we have now plus a centre half and No9 I’d be more than happy. Till the PSR crap goes then what’s the point? All we got to look forward to is trying to be the best of the rest meaning the best of the teams that PSR has been rigged to stop them competing ??♂️

I wonder.? all this PSR stuff, lil old Villa can't afford to spend big etc. could it be the powers at Villa playing a blinder? The same media sources say that we have a PSR problem, then link us with Torres for £60M+ ??♂️ from what I've heard we're killing it with the commercial side of things, and there was a story going round before the start of the season that the naming rights for VP could/should/would happen before the end of the season, something brewing I think.

Re the Malen/Gallagher stuff. It's been reported that Athletico want Malen as well as a few others, I'd look at it 2 ways. why couldn't a Malen + cash deal of happened? Could of been a loan with obligation to buy on both counts ??♂️ &/or if Athletico have got an extra £8M over what we'd agreed for Gallagher, the Malen's price should rise, if it's a loan with obligation to buy? I'm saying this as I'm hearing Kamara should only be out for 2-3 weeks, so not as bad as it could've been, so a midfielder is not a priority. ?

To be honest I would rather keep Malen than lose him to buy Gallagher. Malen is starting to play the manager wants and fits in with our style of play. Gallagher might be a reasonable player but is he better than what we have already?

Could be a master stroke… if you’re good enough, you’re old enough. Get him in, have him on the bench, throw him on for 15-20 mins and rough the opposition up, he could be the new Lukaku, or he could be the new Kevin Francis ? if we’re spending that amount of money on a 16 y/o, I don’t think he should be playing for the under 21’s, throw him in, sink or swim ??♂️

The talk was loan with obligation to buy, which to me means we were going to buy him but at the end of the season and past any PSR cut off point, and for £8M less than Spurs are paying for him. My other take on it is with Gallagher, he’s being a bit short sighted. He himself could’ve insisted on going to Villa, go to a club on the up with a world class coach who’d make him a better player, or play for a toxic club that’ll probably sack their manager by the summer, never mind him being a Chelsea cult hero, would be like Gabby or Grealish signing for the nose

Personally, I thought Malen was an odd signing at the time considering we got Rashford pretty soon after? But, if all the merry go round is true, Gallagher and Tammy in, we are a better team with them, Gallagher if Kamara is out for a while, Tammy if Ollie gets injured/competition for his place. Tielemans is better further forward imo, and although a different kind of player, plays in pretty much the same area as Malen, add Buendia and Sancho to that too and we are more than covered. Don’t forget Alyson too could play a part ??♂️

I like a wheel and deal… Barkley to go, Bailey, and controversially I’d let Malen go, Roma are sniffing round him, I think Emi will be gone by end of Jan, I’d keep Sancho as a direct replacement for Malen, Elliot gone and his loan replaced by Gallagher with a loan with obligation of £35M (same price as Elliot’s obligation to buy) the Barcelona keeper on loan till end of the season, and Tammy for the £11.2M that Beskitas were obliged to pay (no loan) Gallagher can mean Tielemans plays more forward, + we don’t know the extent of Kamara’s injury but it didn’t look good. Mingueza I’d see as more of a pre contract join in the summer deal. My maths tells me between £45M-£50M in sales there, not sure how many loans we can have at 1 time but if it’s only 2, then I’d hope it’d be Emi that stays ?
