My nephew txt me yesterday, reckons he's heard somewhere that Emery to L'pool in the summer is a done deal, and wants to take Dougie and Bailey with him too? Can't see any legs in it myself?

Can’t see this happening Allstar, Emery already has experience of taking a job where his predecessor had legendary status at Arsenal, that turned out badly for him and he had to go away and rebuild his reputation so I can’t see him falling into that trap again. I think we are more at risk losing him to a club like Bayern who are having a bit of a rough time and are looking to replace Tuchel.

2.) 17 Apr 2024 22:59:01
Ruben Almerion will get the Job

If we're after Ngonge, that's another left footed attacking player, unless he's 1 for the future or too good a bargain to turn dow, what's the point of signing him, we need a No9. Also, I'd keep an eye on the Couffal situation at West Ham, if Emery is big on his full backs being more defensive minded, there's not many better than him in the Prem, a cheeky £5M bid for someone who's stalling on signing a new contract might get it done ??‍♂️

UTV

1.) 04 Jan 2024 02:09:51
Ngonge plays as an attacking midfielder or a striker, making him a lot more versatile to Emery's needs, good for rotation and cover for injury and suspension in various roles. An exciting and useful player at a very decent price.

2.) 05 Jan 2024 00:16:14
Not sure how this one is going, it seems to be common knowledge that the club have accepted our offer, but their is conflicting reports on whether the player wants the move or not, with some saying he wants Villa and some suggesting he wants a move to Fiorentina, looks like we will have to wait and see where this one goes.

Remember a few weeks ago I said there could be a surprise exit or 2. rumours going round that L'pool are after Kamara, they're going to have £52M burning a hole in their pocket soon, I'd take that, he's replaceable at that kind of money, Kooperminer (spell check lol) the younger Thuram brother, and I'm sure there's a Spanish defensive mid Unai would have his eye on ??‍♂️

1.) 20 Jul 2023 06:20:20
I wouldn’t sell him full stop, we are looking to build a squad to try to win things, why would you sell one of the most accomplished defensive midfielders in the premiership to a rival? Anyway even if I were to consider a sale if Palace are looking for £70 million for Cheik Doucoure then I would certainly want more than that, Kamara is a much better player in my opinion.

2.) 20 Jul 2023 06:50:25
I agree on the price aspect and I wouldn’t want to sell him but as it’s a rumours site where you post about rumours ??‍♂️ Try it another way, get a big fee for him, replace him with Koopa bloke, might get a defensive mid that isn’t injured half the season and his stats show that you might get 10+ goals out of him, Kamara had 1 assist last year, just saying ??‍♂️

UTV

3.) 20 Jul 2023 07:03:54
I get the rumours bit Allstar that’s fine, I like Koopmeiners as well but I would rather we keep Kamara and buy Koopmeiners to add to the squad rather than sacrifice one to get the other. It has taken us an inordinate amount of time to start attracting quality players I want to keep as many as we can for as long as we can and keep adding to them.

4.) 20 Jul 2023 08:28:47
And bouba job is to break play up win tackles not score goals, if we sold him its complete maddness no villa fan would want too sell him he's one of our stars and he's only 22 all players get injured A72 can't be helped, and like lord said we are trying to build a squad to win cups and challenge top6 if anything koopermans would be a good signing to add to the squad

5.) 20 Jul 2023 09:21:37
I agree with both of you, just saying ??‍♂️

UTV

6.) 20 Jul 2023 09:33:05
I see both sides of this one, keep him and our squad is building nicely or sell for 70 million and make huge profit on a player we got for free, he has had his injury problems since arriving and after all we did manage pretty well without him, it’s win win whatever happens imo, if he is to be sold though we need to squeeze every penny we can get out of them

I'm mega confused by all the players we're being linked to, along with all the FFP stuff? The 2 Italian full backs from Juve and Torino I get, they're the 2 positions that I would say could put us on a different level, the frees that have been mentioned (Ineacho, Ndidi, Hermoso) would keep us ticking over, Rabiot would obviously be a marquee signing that would improve us but in another post I've poured cold water on it. What/who would you guys be happy with, and be sensible? Who would you sacrifice for us to pay for the players linked, and I don't mean shipping out the fringe players, for instance, if Ollie has an amazing Euros, would you take £100M+ for 'the greater good'? Would you let Dougie go for £70M+? Not saying both at the same time, just would love to hear where you guys are at, are we going to go for it, become big time or go for (& I hate to quote him) 'an honest bunch of lads' ??‍♂️

So with profit and sustainability a lot of its about reducing the size of the wage bill so for me getting as many of the big wage earners out as you can get the better, so shipping out Digne, Lenglet Coutinho will help, as will Zaniolo returning to his parent club and now with the rumours surrounding Diego Carlos future that should free up the best part of £25-30 million from a salary perspective. With the additional money from where we finished in the Premiership (circa £162 million) plus the initial payment for Champions League qualification £18 million and if we are careful with our recruitment I am not sure whether we need to sell any of the stars. If we can land Ndidi, Hermoso, Ihenacho on frees pick up a couple of full backs at a reasonable price (I see we are being linked with Acuna from Sevilla again for something like £12 million) then I think that should enable us to pick up one or two marquee signings without having to sell one of our real star players. But if we had to lose someone on top of that then the two I would consider letting go would be Buendia and somewhat reluctantly Ramsey.

But in terms of your question no I wouldn’t sell either Watkins or Luiz unless the offers were too good to refuse in each case over £100 million.

2.) 22 May 2024 20:43:59
It might be just me, but I still like that idea of us getting rough diamonds and have Emery turn them into ballers. I’m talking about players like (that we’ve been linked with) Jota Silva, Albion Rrahmini, the kid from Beskitas for attackers, a name I’ve not heard for left back who’s impressed me every time I’ve seen him is Robinson of Fulham, seems to give 100% when he plays, USA international, good PR/commercialbenefits to him too, the keeper from Luton looks like a more than capable (& better) back up for Emi, got a Gers fan mate who reckons Mat O’Reilly of Celtic is the real deal too, maybe there’ll be a break out player in the Euros, definitely an interesting summer ahead

3.) 22 May 2024 12:44:56
Thats good news for villa, i thought poch was turning it around they could of been a threat to the top4 aswell

16 May 2024 17:33:46
All this talk of having to sell Ramsey etc. has anyone thought that he might not want to leave? I'm guessing it some people are accepting of it because he's hardly played this season but if I was him i wouldn't want to be forced to leave ??‍♂️

UTV

Allstar72

1.) 16 May 2024 21:17:12
I'm not sure anyone wants to be forced to leave (otherwise they wouldn't need forcing), but if they get told they're not wanted and not going to get much game time, they'll leave if they have any ambition.
That said, pretty sure it's all just media speculation right now, so wouldn't pay too much attention to it.

22 Apr 2024 19:10:17
A name to keep an eye on that could replace Luiz should he get sold, Aleksandar Pavlovic of Bayern, 19 years old, already been called up to the full German squad but didn't play due to illness, is of Serbian descent, he looks the part

20 Feb 2024 18:42:51
The 'Watkins dilemma'. Ollie is a good guy, a good player, if we aspire to win things we can't rely on 1 striker, we can't not have another quality striker because we don't want to upset Ollie, shouldn't strikers be pushing each other for that 1 spot? That's how you become successful.

We obviously need a back up striker, but do we want 1 who's happy to get '15 mins' every other game? I personally think we'd be better with 2 up top, or a 9 and a false 9, or a 9 and a No10. Without repeating myself lol, Jonathan David is the guy for me, 1 year left on his contract come the summer so there's a deal to be done there, there'll be competition for him but that only shows that he'd be an asset to whoever he goes to.

Next season (or part of this) we'll have Mings, Buendia back, we'll have a better squad to pick from, only thing missing is that quality 2nd striker, the potential is there with Duran but we should be in the market for starters, we're back in the place a club our size should be, we have an exceptional manager, fantastic owners, it's exciting times ahead

1.) 21 Feb 2024 09:37:46
I agree Allstar, I think we are 3 players away from being a side that will be able to compete with the so called big six. A striker as you say to challenge Ollie, we can argue over the who (my preference is and always has been Patrick Schick) but someone who can push Ollie is a must. A right back again to challenge Matty Cash who isn’t as bad as some on here would have you believe but is inconsistent. The lad from Leverkusen Frimpong looks a really good player quick, a good crosser of the ball and scores goals as well. Finally a back up keeper as Olsen isn’t good enough, I’ve read somewhere that Kelleher at Liverpool may be available come the end of the season if that is true we should be all over that. The problem I think we will face is that to comply with FFP will mean that to buy 3 quality players will mean we need to sell one of our star players to generate the necessary funds as our income streams aren’t sufficient to sustain us spending £100 million plus on new recruits so we will need to balance how we improve the squad without weakening the first XI which will be tricky I think.

2.) 21 Feb 2024 22:58:43
Sadly I think Dougie will be sold. Bought for 15m sell him for 80m and hope we can find some cheaper gems.

3.) 22 Feb 2024 09:44:07
I agree Bucky but not on the figure, Doug is worth every bit as much as rice, I know he’s not English but prices keep inflating so 12 months after rice move for 105 I think we should have no problem getting 100 for him we just have to play hardball, I really hope if he does go that it’s to Madrid or Barcelona or even psg…
Then we have to talk about a replacement, we probably don’t want to spend more than 30ish so who would you guys buy?

4.) 22 Feb 2024 09:50:40
I always fancied Frank Anguissa, was it Fulham or Brighton he had a season on loan with, he had a stellar season for the year he was was there.

5.) 22 Feb 2024 15:37:56
I think it will be Luiz who is sacrificed and I agree the fee should be at least what West Ham got for Declan Rice, but I would rather he go to Arsenal I’d ask for Tierney, and ESR in part exchange plus a cash adjustment and I’d use that to go for Neves. I’d then look to sell Digne and probably Ramsey try to sign the right back, forward and goalkeeper we need.

6.) 22 Feb 2024 17:11:32
We just signed a goalie LOTM from Down under

7.) 22 Feb 2024 17:49:30
The only arsenal players I’d take in exchange that they realistically part ways with are Jorginho and trossard, they can keep their injury prone bench warmers.
Mitoma is another player we should be looking at if a reasonable deal could be made with Brighton.

8.) 22 Feb 2024 22:22:34
Wouldn’t take Jorginho or Trossard, Jorginho too old and slow, and when we have Diaby and Bailey why Trossard? But as usual it’s all about opinions, and I am sure Emery will have his own targets probably from La Liga.

9.) 23 Feb 2024 11:24:31
True mate, I was thinking trossard plays on the left unlike Bailey or Diaby and Jorginho controls the ball well in midfield and like emery’s style he can slow play right down pretty well. neither would be my first choices of players to buy, I was just thinking of arsenal players. your right though I’d imagine Emery would raid la liga.

10.) 23 Feb 2024 19:43:54
With Kamara being out for a long while then if Dougie was to go it’d have to be top dollar money for him. Wed then need 2 midfielders. The names I’d throw in are Pauhlihna and Koopermeiners. There’s probably players Emery has his eye on and probably a lot cheaper than them 2. Maybe we’ll get lucky and some Saudi team will come in for Dougie for more than we could dream of getting and then the sky’s the limit ??‍♂️

UTV

11.) 24 Feb 2024 10:12:15
Koopmeiners is a really good shout right age and although a defensive midfielder he has an eye for a goal, 7 goals and 3 assists in 21 games in Seria A is non too shabby. Although i think we would probably be looking at a fee north of £50 million to buy him.

RK, I totally get your point and where you’re coming from but I disagree with you. We’re talking about elite athletes that have the support network that should make them perform at 100% barring carrying an injury. When I trained I’d done a full days manual work on a building site and still train to my maximum, otherwise I’d just be going through the motions, which for the last few games it looks like our team has. Above all I want Villa to win, maybe I’m old school but I’d be going through walls to make that happen, not come up with excuses for why it hasn’t (last few games) ??‍♂️

Your last post tells me all I need to know, poor form basing your opinion on my lack of scientific knowledge not knowing that from my late teens I’ve lifted weights and have a vast knowledge of supplements/nutrition/training methods but let’s not let that get in the way of you trying to win an argument, which was never my intention to be involved in

RK, we won the league in 81 in a 48 game domestic season, using if i remember right only 13 players, half of whom probs went the pub straight after training/matches, so near enough zero ‘recovery’ protocols? If you say the games is faster these days, give your head a wobble. We have exceeded all expectations this season and I’m proud of them, my gripe is in Jan we could’ve made some smart moves in the market to be in the title race, we bought youth team full backs and an Aussie keeper when we should’ve been going for Dybala, Jorghino (who has just signed a deal extension, for the prem leaders) to push us on. Morgan was a good buy as he has shown, I want Villa to win things, I can handle a bit of lactic acid if it makes me a winner

The flip of that Daz is I could easily do 15 miles per week for 38 weeks if I had a top nutritional programme, regular massages and other recuperation protocols, and would be nice if I got £100K a week to do it too, just sayin’ ??‍♂️

I’ve read somewhere that Rabiot is on £190K pw inc bonuses, he got that after joining Juve on a free, when he was mid 20’s and coming to his peak. Surely he wouldn’t command the same amount now that he’s 29 coming up to 30, I’m guessing that his next contract would be his last on high wages so would try squeezing as much as possible out of his next club?

If that’s the case about contracts, shouldn’t the fee paid for someone you can only have for 5 years be much less? Like if you were buying a car, you wouldn’t pay top dollar for 1 that you could potentially scrap in 5 years time. I know you could have it serviced (contract extension) to keep it longer before anybody says anything lol, but thinking long term you’d want a better deal on purchase to counteract those costs? (season’s only just finished and I must be bored already ?)
