Hi i don't think everybody should worry bout getting ko out of fa cup isn't promotion more important its not like we were ever going to win it . so in my case i'm glad we are out so we can focus on promotion.

07 Jan 2018 20:59:30
It's not about being knocked out, happens to 50 percent of all teams every round and yes it may be a blessing in disguise, it's the way we were knocked out, its about credibility and under Bruce all we get is whining and excuses. I like many others and yes there are many others, don't like what he is serving up in terms of football and accountability.

I know 1 swallow doesn't make a summer but with rumours of Sam J and loan ending, after yesterday does anyone think Jed Steer could step up? Had 38 games for Huddesfeld in Championship so no stranger to the division?!

07 Jan 2018 14:06:30
If we don’t go up Steer will probably be used as first choice you’d think.

07 Jan 2018 12:19:56
In my view something has to be done about the FA Cup quite clearly players don't want to play in it managers don't want to be in it and its just beginning to be just for little clubs to make a few quid. The fans don't even want to go to it. attendances were down everywhere despite the cheap pricing. This is because everybody knows its going to be reserves and most prob the top 5 prem clubs are going to win it anyway.

Either change it or scrap it because its becoming a joke. The FA Cup used to be special not anymore if we had a winter break maybe people would pick a 1st team but with so many games over Christmas the FA Cup is seen as a chance to rest players. Also the semi final shouldn't be at Wembley. you have Wembley for the final only in my eyes!

{Ed033's Note - Some type of handicap system could be put in place such as better teams playing with 9 or 10 men and or giving the lower league team a goal lead, but that won't necessarily mean fans will want to watch the games.

07 Jan 2018 14:06:01
Mid table prem teams who are always going to survive comfortable, Everton and such should be playing their best 11, it’s an easy way into Europe.

07 Jan 2018 16:25:46
I have to agree wtw, also a good idea Ed.
Problem with the goal thing Ed, we would have lost 4-1 yesterday.
But joking apart, I think two good points made by you guys.

07 Jan 2018 11:15:43
Right to talk about yesterday. Can you answer me why Bruce has to keep playing players out of there correct position. Ie bree at cb. For me the players he used yesterday had more than enough to win that match had they been played in correct positions with no restrictions put on them. It's like he wanted them to loose which I find hard to take. Football is not a hard game if you do the right things in the right way.

07 Jan 2018 12:38:37
Bree is quite capable of playing cb i thought? its not lik he was playing him as a striker or left wing,

other than him who else was out of position.

07 Jan 2018 14:04:35
Restrictions? Did you watch the game? We had chance after chance to hit them on the break but the players couldn’t be arsed, we’re lacksidazy in getting forward and half hearted in everything. The only thing restricting them was their motivation.

07 Jan 2018 14:25:13
I'm not just talking about 1 game. If you attend games you will know what I'm on about.

07 Jan 2018 14:48:54
You directly said “yesterday”.

07 Jan 2018 15:27:47
This lack of motivation you say we shown is not the first time under Bruce would you agree?
Hence he should take main responsibility if that's the case,
How many more lack lustre games do fans have to see before he carries the can,
Excuses! Excuses!

08 Jan 2018 16:29:29
I did say yesterday. My bad but I also said keeps playing players out of position referring to more than just yesterday. Anyway I'm not on here to be picky of you said this I said that the point I was trying to make is why oh why keep playing players out of position or out of there first choice position when he could quite easily put out a side with players in positions that are there num 1. This Is why I feel he costs us and keeps playing Whelan and onhama when so badly out of form when there are plenty of other's that could be getting a chance.

07 Jan 2018 08:52:22
So I see on here Some are saying Bruce is blameless for our defeat,
I agree the performance by most was very poor on day but it's not like this is the first time this has happened we have been dross under bruce,
How many lame excuses has he come out after some really poor performances in past,
Groundhog day comes to mind!

07 Jan 2018 09:36:40
Yawn, clutching at straws again are we?

07 Jan 2018 09:59:11
How many more poor performances does onomah have to have before being dropped?
Ship him back to spurs asap!

07 Jan 2018 10:23:05
Chris,

What are you on about?
So your happy to blame all the players performances but Bruce is not to blame at all?
Last week we played well and deserved the win but why make 10 changes!
I expected 5 to come in at most,
Then I see Bree playing at centre back?
Adomah left to play the 90 mins when for me he was the worse player on view,
But you have your opinion which I respect so give me mine is all I ask,

07 Jan 2018 10:51:54
Yesterday was a poor result, we played poorly, and it was extremely disappointing, I don’t disagree. but put some realism in place.
Totally different team, against a lower league side, where yesterday was their cup final, was another game for us, knowing we have much bigger fish to fry in the coming weeks.
Personally I love the fa cup, and would of loved a good run in it. but logic tells me that we wouldn’t win it, could possibly do with out the distraction and, using an old cliche, really need to concentrate on the league.

There where a few positives from yesterday, the keeper for example, although his distribution was woeful, his hands where spot on.
I thought (especially the first half) o’hare Was brilliant.

My self I would imagine that Bruce was disappointed with the display, and score line, but deep down not with the out come. He has ONE target, nothing else, by means or by foul, one target.
Maybe, yesterday was a reminder to the good doctor that our squad is light, might force things for this month?

Ask your self, would you of liked to go further in the fa cup, even Wembley? But sacrificed promotion?

I know my answer.

1 more point. (and my faith in Bruce is dropping a lot) but you can’t ask him to play the kids, to change the style, to make changes. and then when he does, and they don’t work, hang him out to dry.

I will say though, some one above mentions Onomah. I agree with this. He is an awful footballer. I don’t see what he brings to the team. The one fault I found that hangs with Bruce yesterday is not seeing how bad he was, and took o’hare off for Grealish. Wrong player, about 20 minutes to late.

07 Jan 2018 11:09:52
I was only 7 yrs old when we won the fa cup in 57
But I love this cup and to many clubs are not showing enough respect to play in it,
Blue- noses are facing relegation yet put out a strong 11,
I understand the going up theory is most important but surely we want a crack at winning some think,
I know we are not fancied to win the fa cup but we must compete surely!

07 Jan 2018 11:33:10
Bruce picks the team and sets them up so of course he is to blame. Made the wrong subs as well.

07 Jan 2018 11:41:18
Whinge whinge whinge. one goal and that's promotion. Bob you was the one wanting changes well you got them. Thought bruce protecting our main players was spot on. Your just a bruce basher mate bet you would love it if we didn't go up just to say i told you so.

07 Jan 2018 12:46:18
Clarat53
Yes I wanted changes not the whole 10 changes!
Never wanted Bruce from the start I admit that,
If you bothered to read my earlier posts I also said I would give him a Fair crack at the job,
He is the manager of the club I love,
But I am losing faith with his whinning at the fans having a go at him and now saying that he does not expect any of the young players knocking on his door to why they are not in the team,
So he is getting in his excuses while he can,
Let's hope we carry on winning next week otherwise he will get a backlash all over again,
Its clear on most villa blogs he is not the manager that fans want,
But he could prove me wrong hopefully with promotion otherwise he is gone for sure next season,

07 Jan 2018 12:57:29
Bruce 33/ 1 for stoke job?
I expected 100/ 1.

07 Jan 2018 14:03:12
You clearly miss the point several people have tried to make, we have one target, and really one chance to achieve before financial melt down. “Surely we want a crack at winning something” not at the sacrifice of relegation, if Bruce played the same side that thrashed Bristol, and Chester, Jedinak, Hogan or Adomah picked up an injury you’d be on here moaning that the young lads didn’t get a chance and Bruce was stupid for picking the first 11 in a nothing fixture. It’s getting boring now.

06 Jan 2018 23:45:23
People saying that Bruce played kids are wrong there was only Ohare and Davis the rest didn't get a chance RHM came on for 10 min the rest was squad players. That in mind I am not to bothered about the cup but should of given more youth a chance in this cup.
