Some of you getting ahead of yourselves picking positions to strengthen when you go up. Play offs will be interesting but no guarantee that you will win them.

01 Feb 2018 23:23:47
We are going up that is automatic. You are obsessed with Villa and a wind up merchant.

We are a bigger club than anybody in the midlands and it hurts you that's why you're so obsessed as you have realised your custard bowl club will never achieve anything that we have. How about you either buy a Villa season ticket or support your own team?

02 Feb 2018 11:15:56
It always seems that these two posters follow each other.
One posts a reply very soon after the others post.
Could be perceived as dual personality.
Just saying.!

02 Feb 2018 12:02:23
You aren’t the only one who thinks that Oldvillan, too much of a coincidence imo.

02 Feb 2018 13:07:49
Well don`t respond then, the nature of dialogue used by some is only comparable with 9 year olds.
Leave alone and they will go away.

02 Feb 2018 15:19:33
This guys a wolves fan and really gets to me that's why I reply.

02 Feb 2018 15:38:33
Your weakness is alarmingly apparent wtw, man up and laugh at him from a distance.

02 Feb 2018 15:49:42
Had to check because of how coincidental it is, for someone who posts on here regular top of the league hasn’t got a post on either the rumours or banter page for wolves, I think the games up WTW, it’s a bit sad to be honest.

02 Feb 2018 17:20:05
He gets to me because this is a Villa page and he shouldn't be aloud on here. It annoys me as well that you think me and him have some connection. I am a season ticket holder and in the away scheme I have nothing to do with him apart from argue when he puts stupid things. Anyway UTV.

{Ed033's Note - But should he be allowed on here?

02 Feb 2018 18:32:43
Personally NO.
However there is freedom of speech.
Could we post drivel on the Wolves site or will the Eds delete us when we do as they have in the past.

02 Feb 2018 19:16:51
I don’t know what having a season ticket and being in the away scheme has to do with anything to be honest.

02 Feb 2018 19:29:03
I think it’s a bit pathetic that it’s a point of concern!
Personally I think WTW talks tripe, but the Ed’s of made it clear, no just accounts!
They even banned me a few years ago as the suspected I had more than one. (I didn’t, and thank fully they posted this)
Does it matter if a sad sack posts on here from another club? No
Does it not mean that he is more afraid of us blind siding them?
Do you not see that as he spends so much time on here he is jealous of villa, and is trying to put oil in the water?
Ignore the cretin, and the wolves fan! (Joke WTW! )

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand why you all get so worked up about people from other clubs visiting. We have Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal and Man Utd fans regularly crossing over between those sites with no issues. Admittedly they mostly are not as dismal in their attempts at banter as the Wolves fan you have got lumbered with, but it can often add to the conversation and give a view you wouldn't otherwise get. We even have a charity match being played in the sumemr with teams made up of a mix of Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal fans from those sites.

I know you have got a bit shortchanged with the plank you have, but still, at least you matter enough that he has made the effort to post on Villa's site.}

02 Feb 2018 19:56:50
Jesus! Again you enlighten us with the knowledge of truth!

{Ed001's Note - it was what I was born to do after all ;-)

02 Feb 2018 19:58:17
Also I apologise for the siht grammar in my other post!
I need to proof read!

{Ed001's Note - trust me that is great grammar compared to what I usually have to put up with.}

02 Feb 2018 20:29:38
Haha!

02 Feb 2018 20:34:49
Serious question, the other night I replied something very rude knowing it wouldn’t get put up really but what is the line of which it’s too far to post? Anything personal to someone against the rules?

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on the editor. What some see as banter others would see as abuse. Also a lot depends on who it is said to and by who. Oh and the context as well. It is impossible to really give a direct answer.

Quick rule of thumb is though personal attacks on someone is too far.}

03 Feb 2018 08:32:43
Fair enough, cheers.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

Best business in January, keeping hold of Johnson.
Could have gone where ever.
We have a need now to plan for life in the prem, not certain, but need to prepare.
Many of the squad are ok for champs but would be caught short in the prem.
We bought players to get us out of the champs, not players to keep us in the prem. The forward planning during the yanks years was non ex instant and it is clear that we are now 5 years in arrears.
Some young blood has come in to support the youth we have but not enough.
Hopefully money will be available in the summer to keep us in the prem.

Don't know if you fans know but Darren bent now plays for Burton?
He does have a habit of scoring against old teams,
Let's hope that's not the case Saturday.

01 Feb 2018 16:46:30
Yeh I did know bob, he has just come back from a hamstring injury, so will need a few games to get up too speed.

01 Feb 2018 17:04:42
Let's hope it is a few more games?

01 Feb 2018 18:11:54
Doesn’t matter when we are 4 up.
It would only be a consolation.

01 Feb 2018 15:20:37
A couple of years ago there was a radio programme about teams who get promoted, stay up a season or two, and then get relegated, and they asked the managers of some of the clubs it happened too their thoughts as to what went wrong, the general point they all made was that after buying 5-8 new players and intergrating them into the team in the first season, when they bought again the following summer to strengthen again, existing players from the promotion were sold by the club or the players wanted a transfer to play more football, all the managers said that in hindsight, the thing that helped to get them relegated again was lack of continuity, this may be a bit obvious to most of you but i just hope we don't make the same mistake as others, we need to keep a core of players and not spend, spend, spend, i think it was alan hanson or some other ex-pro who pointed out that's what the likes of pulis and pearson did, and obviously it worked for them, but i guess in the modern game, being so results driven and the shelf life of a manager being just over a season and a half, will our chairman dhow the patience needed?

01 Feb 2018 15:34:27
Keep the core group, But this team needs additions. Johnstone (who would count as a signing anyway), Chester, Hourihane, Adomah, Snodgrass (another signing), Grealish and Kodjia all make the starting 11 of a team who would stay in the prem. A case may be argued for some others like Taylor (wales international, premier league quality before) and maybe Jedinak (although his fitness is a joke) however outside of that most are squad players, players to come of the bench or youngsters who need experience. Bare minimum we will need is a keeper, centre back, right back, defensive midfielder and a winger, that’s 5 and 4 of them have to be made because of players leaving or going back from loan. If we can get rid of the dead wood; gabby, Richards, then we can start looking at what we need, I’d probably make the five signings I mentioned, but at premier league quality so they don’t need to adjust, there not from some team in ajerbaijaan no ones heard of they need to hit the ground running, an then I’d look to make two or three more for other weak starting positions and cover.

01 Feb 2018 16:17:00
I think the main issue is to buy quality over quantity this time,
This is where we always made mistakes with very poor expensive signing then being stuck with them cause nobody else rates,
So very careful planning is needed to take us forward.

01 Feb 2018 17:34:25
GK - for me look no further than Johnstone, he fits in here, won’t play at United so go and get him
RB - Trippier would be unreal but hard to get
- Jon Flanagan gone downhill a bit but was Liverpool’s regular right back under Rogers when they nearly won the league, definitely get-able
- Fosu Mensah make use of that united link again
CB - Aiden Flint if Bristol don’t come up he would be perfect
- Alfie Mawson if Swansea get relegated he is brilliant every time over seen him
CDM - Schneiderlin or Wanyama, both rarely get a game, always on the bench, brilliant at Southampton both of them
CAM/ Winger - Snodgrass loves it here
- Loftus Cheek (Loan) looks quality and Chelsea won’t play him

If we get one of each of them I think we have a fighting chance, if we want to be extra go and get;
Another CB - we’re losing Terry, Samba and Elphic aren’t the best so for the bench get another (maybe Younger) centre back who can be a back up, Worral at Forest maybe, Rob Holding maybe.
A left back - Joe Bryan from Bristol, Bertrand if saints go down, Kyle naughton maybe
Get another winger - someone like Mendez Laing, Patrick Roberts on loan from city? If saints go down get tadic or boufal
Get a striker - Benteke? Welbeck won’t ry a sniff at arsenal anymore, Would United let rashford go on loan?

And then😂😂😂 if Tony wants to make a statement, sign a Leon Bailey someone of that ilk, “the next big thing”.
This just shows how many options are out there, there is no excuse for not getting quality recruitment if we go up this year, with the sums of money you get for promotion and the options available.

01 Feb 2018 21:55:25
Johnstone, Ben Gibson, Baker, Wanyama, Snodgrass, Seb Haller, a LB and RB job done

UTV.

01 Feb 2018 23:48:44
I think Jon Flanagan is not welcome at our club.
Sturridge might be an option. Let's see how his loan spell at the Tesco Bags goes.

02 Feb 2018 06:48:02
Ben Gibson, good shout Ally.

Review Of The Day 1st February 2018

01 Feb 2018 10:56:20
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 1st February 2018

01 Feb 2018 10:09:27
The talk about Hutton got me thinking, where do you think we need to sign players when we go up? For me I seriously think we need 5 or 6 minimum to survive the first season, it's a large overhaul again but I do think it's necesary. I'd say for definite we would need; goalkeeper, right back, centre back (maybe 2), defensive midfielder and an attacking midfielder/ winger of sorts. I could name 2 or 3 players for each position aswell, but where do you lot think we need to strengthen? And why?

01 Feb 2018 11:41:21
To survive we need to strengthen everywhere,
Most of these players would struggle in prem,
It's a big step up from championship level
Terry will be gone along with Hutton so they need replacing
Taylor and almo not good enough for me,
Chester would be ok
Houlinan not good enough
Grealish could be ok
Lansbury not good enough,
Adomah ok Just!
Hogan ok as a squad player
Johnson ok getting better with every game
Whelan not for me
Jedi to long in the tooth now just like Whelan
We need a younger squad as we have a few on or around the 30 plus Mark.
There are others to mention but I will leave it as that for now.

01 Feb 2018 12:44:24
Definitely the squad needs an update.
GK: Johnstone. If not him, a solid goalkeeper.
RB: delaet (still think we did not give him much chance or he was injured most of the time) . Look at Lawton, we said not good enough and he has done a good job at Burnley. We also have Bree and we should be using him now.
CB1: Chester for sure and suliman as cover.
CB2: A new CB and bedeau (not sure if I spelled it right) as cover.
LB: new LB, Shaw from man utd? He is not getting enough game time there and Borg as cover.
CM: hourihane should be given a chance.
CDM: some one like gueye and lyden as cover.
CM: A new cm and Hayes as cover
CAM: Grealish for sure and O'Hare as cover.
ST: kodjia, Hogan and one more striker, someone like chicharito from West Ham (bit optimistic there I know) .

Wingers we have enough in Green, adomah, Murphy (yes with his pace he could be a better wingman) and sign Snodgrass as well.

This will be a very big squad.
Get rid of Gabby, Richards, gardener (I like him though but it's over for him at Villa), Elmo, Whelan etc.

01 Feb 2018 13:37:39
Decent points lads, I agree with a few disagree with a few. Mainbob I reckon Taylor given a length of games to get his confidence back would be ok and definitely think Hourihane is good enough and tbh I think he’ll perform better in the prem. Kodjia would be good enough but his injuries are a worry. I had hoped we’d sign someone like Kieran Tripper for right back but he seems to play regular for spurs now so slim chance. Signing someone like Schneiderlin or Wanyama for the CDM role could be crucial, need some physicality in there.

01 Feb 2018 14:43:24
Hourihane I do like but he needs to play further forward to make a difference,
He proved that against Norwich when he got close to Davis and looked very good
Kodjia I can't make my mind up on, .
He is not a team player but a lone maverick.
He looks great when he has a good game and is a very exciting player to watch but I need to be convinced if he would do well in premiership,
He Could well do but until we go up we will have to wait for proof of his talent,
Right back I would love trippier as well he is quality,

01 Feb 2018 16:11:41
I always preferred Kodjia when we played 433 and him on the left wing, seemed less greedy and more effective. I think Hourihane will be a lot better in the prem, he has a brilliant passing range and with more time on the ball he will flourish.

01 Feb 2018 10:13:22
Reports going round that Steve Bruces mom passed away on the day of the Sheffield United game if these are true it goes to show the character and the man we have to still turn up on match day and manage if these are true we should on Saturday give our manager the best support ever we have given a manager down VP.

01 Feb 2018 11:44:23
Could be the reason why he sent out the assistant manager to talk to the press after game,
Very sad if true
And it does show the character of the guy to turn up for game.

01 Feb 2018 11:45:24
Heard she was ill didn’t hear she passed away, hope it’s not true.
