At last the saga is over.

Whether you wanted smith as manager or not it's now time to get behind him and terry and get our great club climbing up the table.

I for one think he will do a great job playing football the right way.

Good chance we might see the best out of hogan like in his Brentford days.

07 Oct 2018 20:38:07
John Terry's retired.
Looks like done deal
Coming to the villa as assistant manager or first team coach.

1.) 07 Oct 2018 20:55:30
The plot thickens.

2.) 08 Oct 2018 14:55:05
they won't last till easter. total and utter f**k up AGAIN.

03 Oct 2018 20:10:33
I'm hearing from certain quarters than dean smith won't be in the running as the new owners want a big name / high profile name and are working with Jorge mendes to create a list.

1.) 03 Oct 2018 20:39:52
I've herd that as well malc new owners want to make a statement, they have big ambitions for our club, it will be interesting to see who we get.

2.) 03 Oct 2018 21:00:07
Mendez is the agent for Jose - if he gets the sack it would be interesting lol.
My money is on Van Bronkhurst - he'd be tempted away with an open cheque book, and may bring RVP with him.

3.) 04 Oct 2018 17:29:50
slaphead rafa has had enough of the internal politics at newcastle, he's a tactical master, but not unfortunatly given to producing a flair based playing style, but his name will be in the media hat.

4.) 07 Oct 2018 12:56:50
MESSAGE TO OWNERS. get on with it.

24 Sep 2018 20:57:09
If the rumours are true that we are paying all of bolasies wages at £70,000 then we deserve everything that's coming our way.

Also shows how clueless Bruce is in terms of sanctioning this deal when he had Andre green and could of put the £70,000 onto John Terry's wages to try and sort out our defence.

1.) 25 Sep 2018 10:06:16
Would rather bolasie to green
Green has had plenty of chances and taken none of them. Move to Pompy best thing for him. And he's injured again. Yes we need to sort the defence up but attack is best form of defence. Hopefully now grealish has signed his new contract he will get on with it.

2.) 04 Oct 2018 17:26:27
green was like gardner he'd fall over a blade of grass, then spend a month lying down on the treatment bench.

08 Aug 2018 12:10:42
Villa not selling Grealish this window.
Few additions in combined with a striker and promotion is ours for the taking.

1.) 08 Aug 2018 12:33:58
Best signing this window keeping grealish,
Did not see this coming,
The owners deserve a massive thank you from us fans,
Have they found a way round this ffp?
And to fork out for players on top,
Just think 3 weeks ago we could have being in administration?

2.) 08 Aug 2018 13:06:54
Lets take this with a pinch of salt lads - If it still the case come tomorrow COB then fantastic, until then I am still assuming he is off.

3.) 08 Aug 2018 14:20:36
Spot on BK1982. Hope he stays but media frenzy surrounding him saying he's unhappy now. This ain't over yet.
How much does his staying or going affect our incomings too? Would McGinn still be interested if Grealish stays? Might affect his decision.

4.) 08 Aug 2018 14:32:44
So according to SSN he isn’t happy to stay . Can’t blame him really and if he does force the issue then he should go with our blessing

Clearly he loves the villa, but football is a job and a short career

If he does go I hope Brucie has a back up plan and we take the spuds for a lot of money

IMO I think this lad Mcginn looks a great little player, I would also try to beat Swansea to the signing of Ryan Woods.

5.) 08 Aug 2018 14:38:50

I've always been a big fan of Ryan woods,
And if Jack does force his move to spurs he would be the perfect replacement,
I can understand how Jack is feeling so whatever he does I have no complaints what he does,

6.) 08 Aug 2018 15:36:45
If he does go then it’s up to spurs to increase the offer to 35 to 40 million.
Like our owner stated “we don’t need the money “
Over to you mr levy lol.

7.) 08 Aug 2018 15:55:55
Villa clearly have set a price and that hasn't been matched yet - If Spurs want him then pay up, stop low balling Villa, we don't have to sell, this deal could have been done and dusted a month ago but Spurs dragged their heels - Now we have super rich owners who won't be bullied, I'd expect Jack to go for 35M+ if he does, get Ryan Woods and McGinn in and our Midfield is still very strong.

Add maybe a CB, RW, and ST on loan and promotion is still very much on the cards - If Jack stays then I'm very confident!

Another great result and performance from Henry at Monaco.
Think we dodged one there villa fans.

1.) 12 Nov 2018 08:57:49
Very true mate,
Big name player does not automatically mean good manager,

2.) 12 Nov 2018 10:08:45
I just wonder if our owners were ever going to employ Henry, they are extremely shrewd operators and I think they would have wanted an experienced guy, rather than an untried entity, either way they got it right, thank goodness.

23 Oct 2018 22:29:57
I know he hasn't done anything yet but I can't understand why we don't try Lansbury in the middle with Mcginn?

At least Lansbury can dictate the game like modric but not to the same level and he can pick a pass.
Surely worth a try.

When we signed him from forest I reckon at least 95% of villa fans were chuffed with the signing of such a technically gifted player.

Give him a chance.

1.) 24 Oct 2018 08:29:37
I agree mate.
I also think that grealish needs a rest on the bench,
That might not go down well with loads of fans but since his failed move to spurs he has sulked and does not look the same player as last year,
I love the kid but he ain't performing to the standards he sets himself,

2.) 25 Oct 2018 09:16:53
Many of them are not earning their pay.
Grealish, Chester to name two and they were both seen as transfer targets.
Mcginn is the driving force and his play suits that of our Viking.
Whelan should be on his bike and Jedinak is lost.
Dean Smith has a challenge much larger than he anticipated.
Super stars in their own eyes but not on the pitch.
I so want him to do the job and hope the players respond. If they don't then dump them somewhere cold and wet so they can see how well they are looked after at our AVFC.

23 Oct 2018 21:47:36
Disappointing night.
A lot of hard work to be done

Had a couple of free kicks in really dangerous areas ideal for a right footer and for some reason jack just let's Hourihane take them.
Should be telling him to move aside and have a go himself.

Jack needs to start influencing games more and start scoring.

Bet spurs are glad they never paid the money now because his not looking like anything special.

11 Oct 2018 08:07:17
Now that smith has been appointed will McCormack be called back and be given a chance?
If he can find his old form what a great addition we would have.

1.) 11 Oct 2018 08:21:32
That's a good question,
Also Scott Hogan!
Everyone will have a clean sheet,

2.) 11 Oct 2018 10:02:16
Don’t let Ross anywhere near our club again - wrong attitude.

3.) 11 Oct 2018 10:06:23
Ross has no recall in his loan. He's away for the season. I do wounder if Richards will be pushed to earn his money though.

10 Oct 2018 17:19:53
Anyone know anything about this Bruno Lage who's appeared from nowhere for the villa job?

1.) 10 Oct 2018 18:12:39
Assistant manager at Swansea and Sheffield we'd!
Crazy selection for me.

2.) 10 Oct 2018 18:16:11
Another Mendes man. Worked with Carlos carvahal as an assistant.

The club have held preliminary talks with Henry and are saying the job is he’s if he wants it.
The sticking point is when our new director of football comes in and he has final decision for n transfers, apparently Henry wants final say on all transfers and unless those demands are met he will not be taking the job.

I’m also hearing that Patrick Vieira is an option should Henry turn us down.

He is a real possibility especially with the mendes link.
I’d be willing to give him a shot, just hope he remembers all the early Mourinho magic and not the current stuff.

Martinez will not leave Belgium.
Wouldn’t want him anyway, he’s not that good a manager in all honesty.

And before anyone says look at what he has done with Belgium then I’m not being funny but most average managers blessed with the squad Belgium have would do the same.

I agree johnnydixon

Think both Hutton and Taylor are just not good enough both areas need strengthening in January.

Most frustrating player must be kodja
His final ball / pass is pathetic for his ability.

Would play abrahams on the left with hogan in the middle then adomah or bolasie on the right.

Looks like it’s the dream team of Henry and terry

Exciting times ahead.

Suppose the big question is whether they can work together in terms of 2 big personalities.

Couldn’t agree more flackie

The other thing I was thinking about is are the players that scared of James Chester? what I mean is he is our skipper but in my eyes he seems to nice. can't imagine him giving anyone a rollicking like terry would last season.

What we need is a leader who’s not afraid to upset the players by telling them what he thinks

Any ideas?

Difference being mason mount is playing well and influencing games

At this moment in time jacks done nothing for a number of matches now

Is he believing his own hype and thinks he doesn’t have to try?

With his ability he should be dictating games and scoring more goals

Whoever comes in as manager has surely got to play him number 10 role behind the front 2 to get the best out of him.
