Very interesting that there are no demands to rid us of SB.
Has he won over the doubters following Tuesdays defeat or have we all come to realise that the Dr will not get rid as the cost would be immense?
I would hazard a guess that he had a clause built into his contract that if he was pushed he got a big lump sum.

1.) 21 Sep 2017 05:41:52
It's a one year rolling contract, would have to pay him for what's left so about 6 months, that's nothing in this day and age.

12 Sep 2017 15:28:28
I have to admit that I am a little concerned at the performance of our team.
Quite a lot of money spent over the last few seasons but we still fail to produce the goods, e.g. goals.

SB is like a rabbit in your headlights, he doesn't know which way to go to survive.
He has an excellent record in getting teams promoted over the last few years but is getting nowhere with our SUPER STARS!
One has to ask why?

Simply is he being encouraged (forced) into playing certain players above all others. So many have arrived with top credentials then suddenly lose form, not just one but all of them. A player comes to VP to play a certain role but finds himself in a different role. The fact that they get a bloody good pay packet mean s very little. Who am I kidding?

Either SB doesn't have the balls to challenge the people behind the doors or he is totally useless, or a bit of both.
I really wonder if our recruitment department have any idea.
Who wanted Whellan, Stoke were delighted?
If SB fails to get results then he should fall on his sword. And if this happens he should give the reasons why.

Football management seems to be a collection of people with differing demands. We don't know details of contracts signed by managers and what their personal requests happen to be when they sign.

All we know is that our team of very highly paid players lack any direction, and our manager seems to lack any fresh ideas or even old ideas.
Our season is already looking like a fight to avoid relegation rather than a top 6 place.

It's not over yet and I do believe we have the players to get the top 6 but our style and desire must prove itself.
Bruce show us what you've got and if someone is manipulating you tell them to f. off.

We want success now, be it with older players who can help our kids or by them owning the problem that we see on the pitch.
Tonight is a good place to start.

16 Aug 2017 15:31:04
Deja vu!
Never been a poster that wanted a manager out, always try to see the best.
However Bruce has to fall on his sword, NOW.
If he really cares then he should go of his own free will, walk before being pushed.
He has had more opportunity and support from the owner than any previous manager.

When, not if, he goes who will accept the poison chalice. I am not qualified to even guess who it could be.
All I ask is a man with passion, vision and awareness.
Steve please take a ride asap.

14 Aug 2017 18:12:33
Surely one day SB will realise that he must get back to the simple tried and tested way of putting the ball in the net.
Why does he not play to Hogan style and play the ball between defenders for Hogan to get onto. That's how most teams seem to play.
Too much emphasis on defending, not that that is successful, not enough on feeding the striker.

No risky balls forward, no imaginative passes and very few threatening plays.
SB bought Hogan because he scored goals but how many has he scored for us?
Get Hourihane into the mid park with the instruction to push the ball forwards, Lansbury looks lost sometimes.

The defence by name looks good but Cardiff enjoyed an early Christmas present.
Dare one suggest that if SB wants to keep his job he must change his vision.
Possibly the best names in the league wear our shirt but they are off the pace with the style of play that we see on the pitch.
It is almost as if they can't think for themselves.
Can they?

1.) 14 Aug 2017 18:55:59
Great post mate I agree with everything styles make fights.

2.) 14 Aug 2017 20:37:42
Well said Oldvillian, some talking head on the radio said that bruce has reverted to percentage football, hope that's wrong, either we've got players carrying niggling injuries, or our coaching team needs to go out and buy a dummies guide to a footballers' fitness, because clearly something isn't adding up, and by the way, if we give bruce 10 games to turn it around, then looking at it with a calculator, we won't be giving ourselves a fair chance to get promoted automatically, just an observation fellas;alas.

3.) 14 Aug 2017 22:08:19
Good post Oldvillan,

4.) 18 Aug 2017 02:57:16
Thing is our rapid continual changing of managers in comparrison to other teams that have done well in the Championship, isn't doing us any good either.

In two years time, if still struggling agter sacking Bruce, are some supporters going to be calling for the return of Bruce because at least he knew about defence,

12 Aug 2017 19:36:45
At last reality has arrived. We are not as good as we think we are.
Embarrassing to think that we were talking promotion two weeks ago, now we are asking for SB to go.

Shocking, dismal, disappointing. Kids football. Why are they going to recognise our shirt? Waste of our time and money.
Come on Dr Tony, act before its too late, the clock ticks on!

1.) 12 Aug 2017 19:53:53
We have tried everything to build a team, Here is an idea why don't we stop spending money as we can't anymore and show some patients why we build a team with young hungry players. In football you need to want it. Afraid to many players at Villa in last 6 years not really bothered if team lose, few players who were bothered simple not good enough. Going to be a long way back :- (.

Patient report, no change.
Outlook bright but eye test recommended as there seems to be confusion as to what colours they are wearing.

28 Jul 2017 15:40:50
Tishbola to Dons looks good for both parties.
If he has what it takes he will help the Dons and then us.
The lad has something to offer and when he was signed many thought that we got a great deal, one for the future.
However the future is now and he must achieve or move on.
I wonder why SB does not rate him as so many posters gave a different opinion.

1.) 28 Jul 2017 23:55:23
Spent 5million on him, been loaned out twice in less than 12 months. Excellent business.

19 Jul 2017 17:46:54
It's getting more like a children's comic on here lately, the culprits know who they are.
Such a shame that some grown ups have to trade insults to get their point across.
Accept that one cannot be right all of the time.
For what it's worth, I am really unsure what the future holds for AVFC and will wait till we have played half a dozen games and then decide if SB should walk or if we look the business.
Whatever happens, my dog is still blacker than your dog!

1.) 19 Jul 2017 18:07:16

Love the black dog quote 🤣🤣🤣.

2.) 19 Jul 2017 18:19:39
Funny faces?!

3.) 19 Jul 2017 18:32:08
I'm no culprit old villan .

I don't have a black dog either . He is brindle 👍.

4.) 19 Jul 2017 18:33:15
Can we have a row oldvillain just to fit in.

5.) 20 Jul 2017 19:03:59
I don't have a dog either.
Got a turtle she's called Toby.

03 Jul 2017 13:06:57
Deal done!
Now let's get the lazy bams working, I can't see JT letting £4m go down the pan.
Well done the management team that got JT to sign and a wake up call to several players.
No longer will we be a soft touch at the back.

1.) 03 Jul 2017 13:30:38
Spot on. This will sort out the men from the shirking freeloaders. No more hiding at the back hoping no-one will notice you. This is exactly what we have been missing - a strong no-nonsense captain of this calibre. One of our best signings in years - well done Mr Bruce and Mr Round.

2.) 03 Jul 2017 15:00:46
Well done brucie and the management did great in the last window. Outdone yourselves this window with just that one signing alone. Now the signing of john ruddy he is keen to come to us, so no pressure.

08 Apr 2017 11:17:31
Will we get the 3 points today?
Burton have nicked points off a few good teams and are capable of doing it again.
We only just won at VP and they will gave a spring in their step today.
I want a win but may have to settle for a draw. 1-1.

1.) 08 Apr 2017 14:48:13
They have certainly taken points of some good teams oldvillan. I am hoping we have to much in the locker for them. With the momentum we have created and the clean sheets, think we will take the three points. here, s hoping mate. COME ON YOU VILLA.

2.) 08 Apr 2017 17:01:40
Well you got that result spot on oldvillan. Was hoping we would take the three points. Bit gutted that it has stopped our run, but hey ho onto the next one.

3.) 09 Apr 2017 13:54:34
This should now quell the talk of us sneaking into the play off places
I'd like to see one or two of the best youngsters given game time to see if they have any real ability as our season draws to a close
Not in the derby though. I want the strongest team possible for that so that we can play our part in sending them down.

4.) 09 Apr 2017 16:29:10
Love to see Lyden get a start if his fit enough after injury. Green was close to a start but apparently he's injured that's why he wasn't on the bench yesterday.

5.) 09 Apr 2017 19:04:32
Your right mendax, I'm all for blooding the youngsters and bringing them through the ranks. we have a lot of talent there.

6.) 10 Apr 2017 17:01:41
Clarat53, I'm never sure if we do or not mate.
I've been hearing about a lot of talent breaking through since the Moore brothers. Nothing much has materialisedin reality (both Moores were ultimately disappointments)
I've never gone along with the "throw them in, they can't be any worse than what we have" mentality that has pervaded this site for the past few years while we have struggled. However, we have a few games now where it is safe to experiment a little and see just how good the very best kids are. I'd love us to uncover a new Sid Cowans in the ranks personally (and maybe a young Tony Morley if I was being greedy)

7.) 10 Apr 2017 19:05:04
Niall Mason seems a player, played majority of games for Doncaster this season who got promoted last weekend. I rated Toner when he played last year and Green when he starts a game looks very good but as a sub he's always off the pace of the game. Some people get carried away with our youth, I've seen them a few times (they often stream their games live on Facebook) and a lot of them aren't great, but given the platform I think a few, emphasis on "a few" could become good players. Not sold on Hepburn-Murphy yet, all he seems to have proved is that he's stubborn and got a bad attitude, however he's back tonight for the under 23's so will probably score a hat trick and make me look stupid.

8.) 11 Apr 2017 17:02:29
you don't need RHM for that mate!

9.) 11 Apr 2017 21:49:09
Can't be great for them having Gabby as a role model.

Could this happen?
A first class arse kicker and organiser.
Exactly what is needed in this team, shirkers beware.

Anything is possible, not probable.
Deadly went to Majorca and had a few drinks with the mercurial french man while on holiday and low and behold we signed a french pensioner named Ginola.
Bruce plays golf with Terry and the media jump on the story.
There have been rumours for several weeks about Terry and Villa, however, u less he wants a challenge we have no opportunity of signing this pensioner even though he is what we need in the middle of the back line.

Are you looking for an arse kicker?
As for desire, we are paying prem wages for div 1 performance.
Too much for too little.

We the fans have desire, the players don't get it.
They see £40000? A week for turning up, it's almost theft.

Nigel Sims,
Stan Lynn, got a shot like a tiger tank
Danny Blanchflower, silky smooth, made the Spuds great
Trevor Ford a no9 without peer
Peter Marland 2 MUFC 1
Geary Hitchens.
My old Dad would have gone for the Moss boys, and a raft of greats from the 30's
Problem with any choice is that most people only remember from 1990.

Barry was obviously approached and offered a bag of gold.
Was it a legal approach?
He finally went but he never shirked a game, tackle or any match contact.
Money may have been behind him going but everyone would have done the same. Doing the same job in a higher level and getting more money. No contest. We al want to improve ou standards
Legend perhaps not but a player who was sorely missed.
Did he see the future?

You are generous with 4 games.
Next game should be make or break.
I usually go for the "wait and see" but now it's gone too far. Saturday night, in or out.
And I know what I am going for, along with the numpties sitting in the posh seats.
