Luiz/McKennie swap being touted.
Really not sure about this one. Seems we lose more than we gain unless there is a significant cash adjustment in our favour.
What sort of value are we looking at? £15m, £20m, £25m, £30m or more?
Latest valuations online suggest €25m for McKennie and €60m for Luiz so £25-30m would seem to be cash value.

So allegedly some details have emerged of our shirt deal with adidas.
One detail is if we sell 300, 000 shirts we get an additional £7-8m.
If that's correct, I'm starting the cause, "buy a shirt support your club"!
At £75 a go that means we'll get 35% of the revenue.
Shirt is probably going to be £90+ though.
That will be too much for some.
Just hope they don't do something crass like a rainbow lion on the back .

You can see the games and injuries are catching up with us now. We can't expect the players to keep putting in the level of performances we've seen this season. We've played 46 games (I think) in the regular season and hopefully we'll have played 52 by the end of May with some silverware to show for it.
It's going to be tough and I think we might have to prioritise some games now.
Another 4 points might just be enough in the Prem to give us 4th place.
Martinez was out for Thursday anyway so good game time for Olsen.

I can't believe the inaccurate crap already being put out there by know-nothing Journos straight out of training school. According to some numpty on the BBC website, Gary had his own song that went “When he gets the ball, he scores a goal, Ga-ry, Ga-ry Shaw” rather than “ When he gets the ball he’s bound to score, Ga-ry, Ga-ry Shaw” They could at least get it right at this juncture ?

Duran's goals per minutes is pretty impressive.
Watkins looks short of match sharpness if we're being kind.
Onana looks an absolute steal at the moment.

Marks out of ten for this window, taking into account all the financial restrictions we were battling, 6/10.
Selling Luiz was possibly the biggest forced blunder. Had to go but we will miss him.
The 2 youngsters coming the other way, well doubt we'll ever see them in Villa shirts again.
Buying Barkley, well I'm afraid we may have been fooled by his 6 month form. Hope not, but we'll see.
Buying back Philogene is a strange one. Was he really that good in the Championship?
Diaby seemed to have lost his mo-jo and we got back decent money. Will be a miss though.
Onana looks to be the best piece of business we've done. Stand out in both opening games.
For me the player who has made the biggest contribution so far is not a summer signing. Rogers. Carry on like that son and Carsley will be calling.
Window now shut. Buendia, Kamara and Mings to come back in too.
A win today would be the perfect tonic to help us forget the transfer BS.

5 out of 10 for me, started out good but ended up very ordinary with to much money spent on players sent out on loan

2.) 31 Aug 2024 14:07:12
Based on their finance problems I would give Villa an 8. If we had the money available I believe we would have got a new RB and forward/winger and then given them a 9.5

3.) 31 Aug 2024 14:19:50
20 mil whack not to much money, who can you get for 20mil that makes us better?

4.) 31 Aug 2024 16:05:25
Enzo and illing are standing us almost 20 million, dobbin was 10 million, Philogene cost us 17 million, that’s in and around 45 million give or take 2, wouldn’t it m as me more sense to have spent it on a top class winger with goals in their locker, there goes Bailey off injured today and no sign of Philogene replacing him when we are playing a newly promoted team, playing a top team last week and he wasn’t brought on so who is he going to trust him to play against? In my book we made a mistake not spending big on a winger it’s just my opinion you don’t have to agree with it, that’s what it’s all about. like I said last night I didn’t mind so much losing Luiz when we got Onana instead, looks like he’s going to do the business ??

5.) 31 Aug 2024 17:56:18
Respect your opinion mate fair does

We won't be signing anymore players this window.
The Dutch lad became the main target after several others became unavailable.
Monchi is actually out of the country now and Emery is believed to be disappointed with the last 3-4weeks of the window with Villa falling short of bringing in one or two new faces whilst also moving a couple out.
You heard it here first.

Bad news if that's the case. Cash is not good enough even when fit. A very Poor window for me. Needed a new Right back and a back up striker for certain. Quality not quantity now we are in the Champions League. Could be Troubles ahead!

2.) 30 Aug 2024 10:20:26
Why we going to have big trouble, come on mate jesus give your head a rest the squad is better than last season, plus mings will be bck buendia bck, bouba will be bck jj bck all like new signings, villa still going to push for top4 and definitely be in top7 just relax we got the don unai he knows what he is doing

3.) 30 Aug 2024 11:05:14
Monchi Don LOL

4.) 30 Aug 2024 11:06:09

Nicolas Jackson now linked to us.
Seriously? Is he better than Duran?
Sounds like desperation to me.
What are the scouting team doing?

Trinity74

1.) 28 Aug 2024 16:47:30
Jackson is better in my opinion and got more potiential, durans attitude is the problem

2.) 28 Aug 2024 17:51:17
Well Jonny, it is all about opinions and you are entitled to yours.
Duran has a very good return goals per mins ratio.
He has got attitude but I would hate to see him go somewhere else and tear it up.
Anyway, time is running out and Villa need to act quickly.

3.) 28 Aug 2024 18:21:59
It is mate

4.) 28 Aug 2024 19:18:40
Unai has worked with both, so if he prefers one to the other it is a good choice.

Who? Chalobah, Raphinia or the “Dutch right back”?

The Sterling rumour seems to be gathering some traction. Undoubtedly a good player on his day (fewer and further between now) but are those days behind him?
I wouldn’t want him if it meant letting Duran go especially in the opposite direction. Chelsea would definitely be getting the better of the deal in that scenario.

@Nebu if Mings returns the player he was before his injury, I agree, but it is an unknown at this stage. Not saying we should buy just in case but we might have to if he struggles in pre-season if he even features?

Certainly appears like he has honoured his obligation with us.
Let’s hope he’s the player we all want him to be now. Not many Everton fans seem too upset about him leaving, certainly not for the fee we’ve paid.

Think he’s going. Will be c£50m plus add ons in my opinion.
Will open up the opportunity for more signings but which position needs strengthening? Forward? Central Defender?

To be fair RK, Tielemens didn’t have a great start to his Villa career. In fact early on last season rumours were circling he wanted out.
That said he appears to be playing his best football for us right now and worthy of his place in the team.
A great performance and a great night overall.

Scott, the owners have just pumped £50m into the holding company, Vsports. They continued to invest the club since they took over in 2018.
The tickets are expensive and some won’t pay it and some just can’t afford it but criticising the club when they have bankrolled us to where we are is just plain stupid.
I will be paying whatever it takes to see CL football at VP, I feel lucky to be able to do so (but luck has nothing to do with it tbh) .

If you’re questioning the price of CL tickets you need to understand what a tightrope the club is walking just to try and compete with the established elite. In the last 24 hours it has been reported that we were hours from a ten point deduction this season before we sold Luiz.
I’m afraid the financial challenges are far from over and we’re going to see more demands that fans will have to bear if we truly want to aim for success.
