Tammy gone (or going) then. Happy New Year!
Not sure where that leaves us now?
Guess the apparent lack of signings by us so far has been due to the uncertainty around Abraham. See what Deano can conjure in the next 2 - 3 weeks.
Oh well, onwards and upw. Mmmm, not sure upwards is realistic at the moment.

Lack of signings? It’s jan 5th! .

Perfect result today. Pleased for Deano. He should be pleased with the game overall. Performance was 7/10 which is an improvement. McGinn! What can you say? Brilliant performance. 9/10.
Atmosphere was ok. 6/10. I guess we're still carrying a bit of the Bruce era around with us.
Difficult away games coming up. UTV!

Good result yesterday from what I saw in the highlights. I'm not going to trust Smith 100 % quite yet. But he seems to be the right man for Villa in ages and if he continues firing up the squad, then there is hope for us.

By the way, he presented the right tactics and formations. Up the Villa!

2.) 21 Oct 2018 11:41:52
Hnchmch, we are here again, one game and you don’t trust him 100%, why say that.
Then you say he seems the right man for Villa, blimey we have to be the most cynical fans in the country.
This guy is Villa through and through, give him some credit, and trust.
I would like to know your reasons for not trusting him, what has he done wrong, has he offended you, has he told any lies, has he slated anyone, are his training methods out of date, please tell me.

3.) 21 Oct 2018 13:30:17
Deano did what was needed we won the game!
Why do fans criticise after 1 game is behond me
Get behind the man for f**k sake.

4.) 21 Oct 2018 17:43:35
Just a little point - Chelsea v Manchester United attendance 40,000 ( just over ) Aston Villa v Swansea 41,000 (just over) . Brilliant work Villa fans 😊😊.

5.) 22 Oct 2018 01:22:34
We have got the best fans, we could pack out 50thou if our ground was that and once were back in prem.

6.) 22 Oct 2018 14:22:34
No, Villadave. The only reason that I didn't trust him completely was that he has managed one win at home against Swansea so far. I mean, that not hard to accomplish. I'm not being negative, I'm just being realistic. I do want Smith to succeed, of course. And if he manages to create more victories and qualify Aston Villa to the Premier League, then we must definitely keep him. For the rest of his career! Several managers who have come in since Martin O'Neill left have not been successful. I just don't want to see that again with Smith, that's all.

7.) 22 Oct 2018 15:08:07
Have faith Hnchmchl85 everything will be fine.
Thank you for your reply.

Dean Smith with John Terry as assistant then. Confirmed!
Happy with that.

Reports that Grealish in talks over new/ extended contract. I'm guessing this new contract would include a 'valuation' clause if we don't get promoted to allow him to go next summer.
That's the only way he'll sign a new contract surely?
Good news anyway.

07 Aug 2018 09:15:06
Reports in Scotland suggesting we're interested in John McGinn and he's heading south for talks. Probably means Jack Grealish is on his way out, hope not but if he is let's get it done sooner rather than later and move on.

JohnnyDixon

1.) 07 Aug 2018 12:49:43
He pulled In to bodymore about 30 mins ago.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 13:16:04
Would be a good addition. Just hope we can get this deal done before other clubs start circling. Looking more and more likely Grealish will be gone. At least it will fund some activity from our side.

Message for Mr Dean Smith: This Valentine's week, the romance is over. It just didn't workout. Once the reality kicked in it showed you and Villa were not meant to be.
Hopefully you will just walk and if you really do care about Villa we won't have a protracted and expensive divorce. It's best for all now. Time to move on.

JohnnyDixon

1.) 16 Feb 2019 17:59:36
OH NO DEANO . ITS TIME TO GO! WORSE THAN BRUCE and that's REALLY SAYING SOMETHING.

31 Jan 2019 18:20:17
Seems to have gone a bit quiet on transfer incoming the last hour or so. Maybe our work is done this window. If so what do we think of our business this January?
I'd give it a 5 out of 10.

JohnnyDixon

1.) 31 Jan 2019 19:10:38
Leroy Fer still in the frame according to various reports.

2.) 31 Jan 2019 19:43:26
4 i'd give it still need a cb, rb, cdm and creative mid.

3.) 31 Jan 2019 20:08:40
Fer having a medical apparently.

4.) 31 Jan 2019 22:32:16
Take it back, i'd give villa 6 for signings would of been 7 if we hadn't of loaned the french kid we signed mings, fer will add strength and power in the team, when tz, an grealish come bck into team we will be a much better unit with new signings.

19 Jan 2019 15:46:55
If Dean Smith wasn't a Villa fan the fans would probably not have wanted him as manager and the majority would certainly be calling for him to go now.
To be honest sentiment needs to be pushed aside, we need something completely different. Can't defend even with the squad he inherited we should be able to defend.
How much is Terry to blame for the obvious issues at the back.
New keeper has conceded 8 goals in 2.5 games. That is a very poor star by any standard.
This season is turning into an absolute nightmare. What is the Jesus Pitarch doing? No evidence of us signing players that we need.
I think today we are hitting the lowest point for a long long time.
R. I. P. Villa.

RB CB LB DM AM and another GK! Hows about A NEW XI please.

2.) 19 Jan 2019 17:19:38
We could be in this division for yrs like forest and leeds our defence is shocking abd gk are woefull we should of signed heaton or forster in my view, we won't make play offs now smith should start building the team now for nxt season.

12 Jan 2019 16:57:19
The way the rest if the players have performed since Grealish got injured is nothing short of a disgrace. They have to take most of the blame. Smith should also take a long hard look at his tactics and team selection.
Promotion is a distant dream now. With half the team leaving at the end of the season (loans) the only way is 2 - 3 season's building properly. No more short term fixes. Serious planning. If Jack wants to go in the summer we should cash in. Spend money wisely. Had it with loan players.

JohnnyDixon

1.) 12 Jan 2019 17:09:50
If i was abrahams i'd go too wolves i wouldn't stay at villa, wolves are going places and were staying in championship and till someone can build a team from the bck.

2.) 12 Jan 2019 17:45:41
Please keep him.
bullet dodged in my opinion.
Average championship player at best!
Good luck to Hause. 👍🏻.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 19:51:52
Ur doing good now but villa will always be bigger club bigger history bigger fan base . it goes in cycles how long has it took you to become a decent side while villa were finishing 5th 6th 7th in prem on regular bases, il take my hat off to your lot but you have along way to catch villa up so enjoy it villa will be bck soon, it took your lot 10 yrs to get bck in prem.

12 Jan 2019 16:45:34
Absolute shambles! I don't know about a pre-season to put things right, many more performances like today and Mr Smith will be lucky to still be manager.
We really are in a mess. Just cannot believe what's happened in the last month.
Anyone?

Promotion is possible but not likely. We're too far behind. As far as one of the best squads goes. I think our league position tells us this is not the case.
We had a strong run prior to December and moved from 13th to 8th, still outside the playoffs.

It's over now as far as promotion challenge is concerned.
I said back on the 7th Jan that we appear to be slow in the transfer market and here we are 2 weeks later with nothing substantial.
Jan transfer window is worse time to rebuild though. Prices are hiked up 'cos everyone knows buyers will be desperate but that's the situation we've got ourselves in (injuries haven't helped, I understand that) .
To be honest I'd stick with what we've got, and go for it in the summer with a re-build. We need to cling on to mid table for now though.
Really don't want to overpay for mediocrity trying to chase promotion when it is highly improbable. Spending big now will hamper us in the summer too.

The problem now is if we do sell him we will have less than a week to replace him and could end up not bringing anyone in due the lack of time left.
With Bolasie now gone back to Everton it looks like Green will be expected to fill the gap. Maybe by shifting 70k a week off our payroll will release some money for investment. We need it!
We have got ourselves into a proper mess over the past 4 - 5 weeks, probably since the Albion game to be honest. Before that game we were looking forward to a transfer window that would enable us to push for promotion. Since then however we have conceded an average 2+ goals a game at home (not even counting the 5 we conceded to Forest! ), not won at home since we beat blues (2 months ago! ) .
We are now looking at teams below us (not above us) and the transfer window is becoming one of short term fix (again! ) to get us to the end of the season.
I'm not blaming the current management team but after the initial 'honeymoon' period we have been woeful. Grealish's absence has been a factor, probably more than anyone would have thought. Add to that Tuanzebe's injury, which has also been a factor.
Best we can hope for this season is upper mid-table.
We need some rabbits pulled out of hats over the next week or so that's for sure.

Take more than signing him to stop us sliding down the league.

Honestly? Couldn’t care less. We’ve become such a mess now. Relying on loans is a quick fix and really don’t want to see another one turn up only to leave at the end of the season.
Sick and tired of excuses from the club now. Guaranteed 4 seasons in the Chumpionship and probably another few after that.

He had a chance to change things in January. Look what happened! January is not the best time to recruit that is true but can't complain about squad If you've had chance to change things and haven't.
That said I hop, and it is a hope, that the reason we didn't change things in Jan is 'cos Smith and the owners want to wait 'till the summer for major surgery.
Anyway, one things for sure, we'll get playing championship football next season.

We've tried to do a quick fix to get promoted and it's failed twice. k It is time for 2 - 3 year plan. No short term fixes. Start the rebuild in the summer.
You're right about Jack and Tammy. Need to plan without them.
This is a worst season yet in the Championship and it could get worse.
Sorry to be a doom monger but this us as bad as it's been for almost 50 years.
We'll be back but it will be a long struggle over many years.
UTV!

Same result.
Where do we go from here? Stick with Smith and Co. Or make a change now.
Personally I'd stick with him. Another change now will not get us into playoffs, that's gone now.
Give him and the owners the summer to completely re-build (and it will take a massive re-build) .
But we must be in the top 6 after 6 games otherwise we're playing catch up again and we will fall short again.
UTV.

Totally undeserved but doesn't matter tonight. Never give up. Never give in. There's always hope.
Maybe, just maybe this can be as big a turning point as the Albion game was (in the wrong way) .

It certainly isn’t looking good for Deano right now. He has got this transfer window to do something and get the wheels back on this wagon otherwise we’ll be looking down not up.
It’s not even a great Champioship this year either. Leeds are top and have looked average in their last 6 games.
