Perfect result today. Pleased for Deano. He should be pleased with the game overall. Performance was 7/10 which is an improvement. McGinn! What can you say? Brilliant performance. 9/10.
Atmosphere was ok. 6/10. I guess we're still carrying a bit of the Bruce era around with us.
Difficult away games coming up. UTV!

Good result yesterday from what I saw in the highlights. I'm not going to trust Smith 100 % quite yet. But he seems to be the right man for Villa in ages and if he continues firing up the squad, then there is hope for us.

By the way, he presented the right tactics and formations. Up the Villa!

2.) 21 Oct 2018 11:41:52
Hnchmch, we are here again, one game and you don’t trust him 100%, why say that.
Then you say he seems the right man for Villa, blimey we have to be the most cynical fans in the country.
This guy is Villa through and through, give him some credit, and trust.
I would like to know your reasons for not trusting him, what has he done wrong, has he offended you, has he told any lies, has he slated anyone, are his training methods out of date, please tell me.

3.) 21 Oct 2018 13:30:17
Deano did what was needed we won the game!
Why do fans criticise after 1 game is behond me
Get behind the man for f**k sake.

4.) 21 Oct 2018 17:43:35
Just a little point - Chelsea v Manchester United attendance 40,000 ( just over ) Aston Villa v Swansea 41,000 (just over) . Brilliant work Villa fans 😊😊.

5.) 22 Oct 2018 01:22:34
We have got the best fans, we could pack out 50thou if our ground was that and once were back in prem.

6.) 22 Oct 2018 14:22:34
No, Villadave. The only reason that I didn't trust him completely was that he has managed one win at home against Swansea so far. I mean, that not hard to accomplish. I'm not being negative, I'm just being realistic. I do want Smith to succeed, of course. And if he manages to create more victories and qualify Aston Villa to the Premier League, then we must definitely keep him. For the rest of his career! Several managers who have come in since Martin O'Neill left have not been successful. I just don't want to see that again with Smith, that's all.

7.) 22 Oct 2018 15:08:07
Have faith Hnchmchl85 everything will be fine.
Thank you for your reply.

Dean Smith with John Terry as assistant then. Confirmed!
Happy with that.

Reports that Grealish in talks over new/ extended contract. I'm guessing this new contract would include a 'valuation' clause if we don't get promoted to allow him to go next summer.
That's the only way he'll sign a new contract surely?
Good news anyway.

Reports in Scotland suggesting we're interested in John McGinn and he's heading south for talks. Probably means Jack Grealish is on his way out, hope not but if he is let's get it done sooner rather than later and move on.

1.) 07 Aug 2018 12:49:43
He pulled In to bodymore about 30 mins ago.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 13:16:04
Would be a good addition. Just hope we can get this deal done before other clubs start circling. Looking more and more likely Grealish will be gone. At least it will fund some activity from our side.

Great performance tonight. Possibly best of season. Pace and skill all over the pitch. Outstanding. The real James Chester turned up tonight too.
One question: does Smith drop Elmo for Hutton next Friday?
Elmo for me. Hutton is a current Villa legend, but Elmo was solid and very good going forward.

JohnnyDixon

1.) 01 Dec 2018 21:02:42
In my opinion he should keep the same side.
We won, and we won well, it defies logic, just because we like someone.

2.) 02 Dec 2018 09:09:00
Same team again for me,

25 Nov 2018 16:07:03
Great result today. Kodjia, Abraham, Grealish, Hourihane, Adomah, Tuanzebe and Hutton all brilliant today. 3 points matters but beating that lot means so much more.
But, Whelan was dreadful. Too slow and clearly not up to the style of game Deano wants to play.
Chester made too many mistakes today and against a better opposition we could/ would have been punished.
Overall 7 out of ten today. That was good enough, today.
Now we need to raise it again against Forest. UTV.

1.) 25 Nov 2018 19:14:10
A little bit harsh on whelan mate.

02 Nov 2018 20:24:00
Hutton is a real weakness. Liability at the back and not good enough going forward. I know I'll get slated because he improved last year but really is being shown up now.

JohnnyDixon

1.) 02 Nov 2018 21:46:39
I agree johnnydixon

Think both Hutton and Taylor are just not good enough both areas need strengthening in January.

Most frustrating player must be kodja
His final ball / pass is pathetic for his ability.

Would play abrahams on the left with hogan in the middle then adomah or bolasie on the right.

2.) 02 Nov 2018 22:01:22
I'd just replace Kodjia with Bolasie. Abraham has to be central, nobody can protect the ball like him.
To be fair to Taylor the system suits him better as it's closer to how Swansea played. When Jack and Kodjia get good positions there are some good triangles going around there, just don't let Taylor try cross.

Would also say I was happy with Hutton tonight. So many commentators say the best movement of a centre forward in those positions is no movement and if Tammy or someone else had drifted to penalty spot when Huts got to byline he'd have had 2-3 assists.

3.) 03 Nov 2018 12:01:01
I thought Hutton played as well as anyone last night and it is baffling why anyone should single him out. I accept he is only a championship player but he is more consistent tham most of the team.

4.) 03 Nov 2018 17:23:02
Thought Hutton gave the ball away more than expected of him. Thought his return to RB surprisingly has seen a blip in his form. Thought Neil Taylor did ok and I have thought he had been useless recently under Bruce especially. Kodja did well too just missing out on finding his finishing boots though. Whether this is a new manager bounce or not all feels more pressing and better tempo. Next match a massive test and then another break which should help Dean Smith and team re their way of playing UTV.

5.) 03 Nov 2018 18:42:55
No one can say Hutton does not give 100%every game and I respect him for that,
But as a full back he loses his marker to easily,

6.) 03 Nov 2018 20:49:13
My son thinks Hutton has a bubble around him that doesn’t allow for any criticism. He has earned this protection because he gives 100% could have left this season for bucks elsewhere. How he was bombed out of villa park and made his way back as a modern day legend is a credit to the man! Will back him, love the guy “Alan Hutton, Alan Hutton”.

A lot of people on here (me included) demanding we get behind the lads tomorrow.
Need support from all four sides. Not just Holte End and lower North Stand but Upper North, Doug Ellis (Witton Lane) and Trinity Road Stand in particular. I remember the days when the Trinity were feet stamping in the old wooden stand. Raised the hair on my neck when I was a kid way back. I know you can't do it now 'cos it's concrete concourse but the message is clear. LOUD tomorrow!

JohnnyDixon

1.) 19 Oct 2018 12:15:10
Don’t worry about the upper north, we will be doing our bit . I have sat in the front row, for about the last 25 years and it’s not the Holte standard, but can still be vocal .
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

2.) 20 Oct 2018 09:00:57
Even on concrete if everybody stamps the noise will be heard unless your all wearing trainers.
Get the old work boots out and sharpen the studs, we are going for a ride!

11 Oct 2018 10:25:35
Expect to to see the Sold Out signs at Villa for next home game. We really need to get behind the team and not just for the first 5 minutes. From start to finish. Give it our best and I'm sure they will give theirs. Through thick and thin!

RIP Doug Ellis. He was Mr Aston Villa for a generation. Wasn't always popular but was Villa through thick and thin.

Moyes, Pardew, Allardyce. They are all too similar to Bruce and that didn't work for Villa. It might work at another club but we need something fresh and this is it.

Absolutely, get behind the manager and players. Let’s hope he can get the best out of Hogan, he deserves a chance.

And all the time Dean Smith's odds keep reducing.
Not sure if this is because others are turning Villa down or he is genuinely in contention.
Probably a combination of both.

El Ghazi looked quality. Deano's selections and tactics were spot on tonight and the players executed them brilliantly.

From start to finish, get behind the team and show the new management we're right behind them. We owe it to the owners as they've supported the club through their work.
