Would Shane Long be a good fit?
Scores frequently every where that he has played.
Could possibly buy him if we shift some of the non appearing players.

03 Dec 2017 17:10:05
Shane Long still has a house in, I believe the Sutton area. A mate of mine fully decorated it in the summer as they thought he was heading back to the Midlands in last transfer window. Perhaps it will now hapeen.

03 Dec 2017 17:30:09
Like Hogan, he might not fit the system.

04 Dec 2017 15:55:52
Shane Long is £20M striker all day long, I'd swap him for Kodjia in a heartbeat

UTV.

04 Dec 2017 18:52:43
I wouldn't say he scores frequently. He scores 0.2 goals a game in his career. But yes he's a decent player and works hard. Wouldn't swap him for kodjia and if we ever paid more than 8m for him I'd feel robbed.

04 Dec 2017 21:07:26
I wouldn’t swap him for Kodjia because he’s not the right style of striker an it would be a waste of time.

05 Dec 2017 15:55:19
I didn't mean literally swap him lol, I'd rather him than Kodjia in as much as he's a team player and not a selfish player, selfish worked for Shearer and works for Kane, Kodjia ain't nowhere near their standard. As an aside, didn't Bruce sign Long for Hull? So he fancies Long, not literally again lol?

UTV.

Yes he did.
How about Long for Hogan+++.

According to reports Bruce is looking at McBurnie from Swansea on a loan deal.
Is he worth it or should we be looking at proven strikers who regularly appear on the score sheets when they get a game.
Now I don't trawl through the team sheets etc of other clubs but are a lot of players that merely keep a seat on the bench reserved for them.

Unlikely to get them but the likes of Austin, and Murray should be on the radar.
However Gayle could be a target.
We need the poacher that will fit in with our "style" of play.
Hogan seems lost in our ranks as we don't play to his, big John does what he wants ànd Gayle, Austin and Murray could be a fit.

Let us not get another no name that merely gets on the pitch.
We are all aware thar "fair play" comes into play but surely as we are now looking reasonable we could entice aa recognised player to join us?

03 Dec 2017 17:32:11
Bit weird you said look at players that “merely keep a seat on the bench” and then go on to name 3 players that all started and scored in the premier league this weekend.

04 Dec 2017 10:17:33
The 3 names don't merly get on the pitch they play.
The post said "not merely sit on the bench."
McBurnie sits on the bench, sometimes.
We need scorers that get at least a goal in every two games they play.
A simple add on, Palace look doomed and Benteke is not doing anything. Would we take him back should the opportunity arise? Fair play or fee could prove a stumbling block.

05 Dec 2017 17:43:55
We brought in 3 proven strikers last year, one is in Aus and 2 are out for most the season.

Talented younger players on the way up is what we should look at.

The Championship has changed. Teams with young dynamic players and managers are doing very well.

My view on the Leeds game; 1st of all didn't we make a cauldron of noise we out sang Leeds but had a great day in Leeds b4 hand. So anyway 1st half I wouldn't say we was poor just sloppy and a bit tired. But 2nd half wow didn't we do well. Chuffed for Lansbury showed great attitude and him and Grelish was great. Samba prob could of done better for the goal but still played ok. UTV on to the next 1.

03 Dec 2017 11:00:41
Just a few names that have been mentioned on various 'rumours' sites for discussion.
Rob Holding (Arsenal)
James Wilson (Man U)
Connor Wickham (Palace)
Personally I'd take all 3?

UTV.

{Ed001's Note - if Wilson has recovered from his ACL injury, he would be a fantastic signing. Problem is that it can take years to fully recover from those injuries.}

03 Dec 2017 11:21:59
I've read it that he's got 5 goals in 5 games for the Man U U23's, with Ibrahimovic back he's not going to get near a 1st team start, I didn't know about the injury tbh, but I don't know if this is true, we had a shot at buying Falcao from River Plate not long after he had a similar injury for £2M, we got Heskey in instead, sums Villa up don't it lol?

UTV.

{Ed001's Note - it is a waste of talent for him to be playing in the U23s. Falcao didn't suffer his ACL injury until a long time later mate. He was playing in Europe when it went. What a player he was and it took him 3 years to get back to anything like his best, but he was much older when he did his.}

Holding would be decent, when he’s played for Arsenal 90% of the time he makes the centre halves around him look like the inexperienced ones. Can’t see that happening tho as I’m sure they’ve only got 4 centrebacks and they got tore a new one yesterday. I remover Wilson doing well at Brighton didn’t know he’d done his ACL. Wickham would fit right in, we set up for a big man who can hold it up and wait for players to get around them.

{Ed001's Note - it was Wilson doing his ACL that started the chain of events that led to Rashford getting a shot. Though it was meant to be Ashley Fletcher, he had to pull out at the last minute, Rashford was drafted in and the rest, as they say, is history.}

03 Dec 2017 13:30:28
What about Origi from Liverpool on loan until the end of the season?

He needs games to put himself into contention for bBelgium and also to put himself into the shop window too.

{Ed001's Note - he is on loan with Wolfsburg.}

Hasn’t thought of Wickham till he was mentioned, would be good at this level. Solanke would be excellent but he gets minutes occasionally for Liverpool. Ings is a quality striker but if hogan can’t get a sniff in our system, be hard to see Ings doing well. We spread goals around the team and play best when we have a forward who plays with their back to goal, give the centre halves something to think about and hold it up until others get around them. But Leeds exposed that as they bullied Davis and then we couldn’t get up the pitch. Hopefully when (not if) we go up we get benteke back, really kept us up alone for 3 seasons, can play the big man with back to goal but just as good with it on the deck running at and in behind a back line.

04 Dec 2017 09:13:31
I obviously was watching a different game chris, Davis led the line well it was josh and the midfield who failed to support the striker for the first half.

04 Dec 2017 21:08:48
You must of been mate, Davis won probably 20% of duels and got bullied left right and centre.
