What about a quick poll [exit or remain] to show the new guys how the majority of us fans feel about the manager

Villa Manager Poll

23 Jul 2018 10:58:13
Interesting result so far:

Exit (33%, 13 votes)
Remain (67%, 26 votes)

If he does go, I can' see that replacing him with someone with no management experience (such as Henry) would be very helpful.

Democracy works, I acknowledge I am in the minority in wanting change. I for one will be happy to get behind the manager if change does not come, however Bruce needs to take a good hard look at the way football has changed, hoof ball is not acceptable no matter what the results say. Big Sam, Moyes mad Mick are all out of work because of their style of play. None of them were relegated yet fan power prevailed. So Steve if you want everyone to get behind you look at your style of play, it hasn't got us prompoted and it hasn't entertained, football is an entertainment business, it's not about your reputation as a so called experienced manager.

23 Jul 2018 12:47:35
I don't get the argument that because we need stability Bruce should remain in charge. The simple facts are Bruce is a man manager, not a coach, and as a result may have an unsuitable squad for his skill set come the beginning of the season.

We need a manager that can improve our talented youngsters - And Bruce is not this manager.

23 Jul 2018 13:23:42
Bring in Henry in a coaching/ development role (to get his badges) To have someone of his standing would bode well in tempting players to come to the Villa.

23 Jul 2018 14:48:15
Just seen the Birmingham mail poll, much larger votes than this poll and the results are similar, so it's clear the majority want IBWT, this message will obviously get through to the new owners so perhaps they will give it time before making any changes, so open message to Steve, "if they want you to stay it doesn't mean some of us fans want the same style of play, if you are to stay grasp the chance and build a team around what many of us fans want, exciting entertaining football and to restore some pride back in the club we love"

39 votes?
Very difficult to draw a conclusion from such a tiny cross section.
I know it's a cross section but!8@?

I said keep Bruce because I honestly don't see better options for the squad we have.
We only have a few top passers of the ball and one of those is almost guaranteed to be leaving. This means that a tip tap game won't suit us, Kodjia will get isolated and frustrated.
Bruce tried to play 3 very attacking midfielders behind the front man every time he could. The main issues I saw were players dropping too deep, not trying hard enough to find space or just constantly playing the safe sideways/ backwards ball.
I blame coaches for not working on fitness levels enough but Bruce can only do so much to encourage the players to not play with fear.

Would anybody be in favour of giving Henry ago? he's a winner as a player and he's played for the biggest clubs in the world. I believe he would play a passing game. 1 thing is for sure its never dull at Villa Park.

24 Jul 2018 15:05:42
i'd be willing to give him a go. I don't see what bruce can do more than he did but this time with a worse squad and mo money to spend.

i've believed for a long time that the problem at villa is an ethos problem, a lack of team identity. and i do not belive steve bruce is the manager to develop that. take a look at the reactions last season to use chasing the game; from the bench we just threw on more forwards, there was never an alteration of tactic to adjust to the game.

the most successful managers int he world are the ones who have a way of playing and the team buys into it. no team can simply have the best personel and make it work, similar to moyes at man utd.

we have exciting young players who play without fear, players that can change a game, instead we started many games with whelan on the bench. a proffessional but not one that will change the flow of the game.

bruces transfers have also been suspect, buying a right back when we have multiple (elmo), not buying a left back when we have only 1, hogan and grabban brought in and stifling hepburn-murphy and knibbs, onomah coming in instead of trusting in o'hare, or doyle-hayes.

look at the amount of money ploughed into so called experienced players instead of develping one of the most exciting u23 sides in the country.

the question the bruce supporters are omitting to consider, is how much money would bruce have needed to spend to improve that play off final side for the premier league? and who are these players?

If nobody comes in for grealish could we sell to reach FFP?

22 Jul 2018 15:59:05
Exciting news about the takeover. Wembley is calling once again.

22 Jul 2018 15:58:49
So can Aston Villa actually spend any of this money?

22 Jul 2018 17:34:46
Yes if they can come up with a way around ffp. Once that is sorted we be fine.

22 Jul 2018 14:23:35

22 Jul 2018 17:35:49

If Henry was the man to manage I would like Wenger as a director of football,

22 Jul 2018 15:21:10
What management experience other then a few months or being assistant to the Belgium team.

22 Jul 2018 14:05:20

22 Jul 2018 12:52:37
Just read the times story on when these owners brought into villa,
Inbetween the semi-finals at world cup they decided to pick our club,
At a convention in America,
So this was in motion a while ago,
And the top basketball player under our American owner has just being awarded a pay deal with a 4 yr contract worth £76mill.
That's £366,000 w/ k,
Not sure if that's dollars or pounds but it's a massive wage full stop.
Could be a exciting rollercoaster ride,
What I don't understand is that they say they will fund transfers this season and on but what about this ffp?

22 Jul 2018 13:30:42
Reading up about edens he likes to bring through young players which is a great start in point,
They will invest in the academy I'm sure about that,
Think there will be a upgrade to the training ground as well,
Well I do hope I'm right about all this but I have a good feeling.
These 2 are very successful business men and have not aquirred there wealth with being unsuccessful many times,

Review Of The Day 22nd July 2018

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 22nd July 2018

22 Jul 2018 03:22:45
I think Bruce will be staying in charge and unless things look pear shaped mid season he will see the season through. Both Grealish and Chester will be staying but other players may move on, I don't know why but I just have a gut feeling about these issues, we will all know a little more come Tuesday night but this is my prediction.

22 Jul 2018 05:07:29
My reason to believing Jack and Chester will stay is simple, If I had just acquired the club then I would be thinking that promotion would be in everyone's interest, therefore would I want my first duty as new owner to be waving goodbye to our biggest assets? I don't think so, especially if other alternatives where available and there are other alternatives to explore. Along with that what better way to instantly get the fan base on side than by keeping their favourite player, when everyone has already accepted his pending departure imagine the fan's reaction?

As for Bruce I think with the season almost upon us the new owner may well wish to avoid all the disruption of a managerial change at this point and for the time being run with Bruce, however if things don't look good several games into the campaign then I think he will go. These are of course just my opinions but they make sense to me but I'm all ears if you have your own.

22 Jul 2018 06:56:00
Id be happy with that and yes that does make a lot of sense. If we do keep super jack and chester we need to offload all dead wood over the next 2 windows and they also have until next March to come up with some sponsors and revenue in to take care off ffp. I think you could well be right on all you have said. That being said all I'm hearing is that Bruce is a dead man walking and Henry will be in.
