With just a few days to go before we play our beloved neighbours in yet another local derby clash expectation are again running high. As usual for the bluenoses these fixtures against Villa are the pinnacle of their season with not much else to look forward so defeat for them is always far more of a crushing blow, it's not that the outcome doesn't mean anything to Villans but just that during our season we usually have our sights set a little higher than just winning the two derby matches so the one off results don't carry quite as much meaning for ourselves.

You can love Bruce or hate him but I think I'm right in saying that he never lost against City whilst managing our club so I hope Deano can follow suit in this department starting by serving up his first victory in the second city derby. This match as always should be electrifying and will be a great experience for the new manager and is sure to give him a taste of what Villa are all about, so hopefully the day ends well for him.

For me at the moment it's all about which Villa turns up, a huge improvement could easily be seen against Derby but for some other matches under Deano we have been little less impressive. So I suppose you could say that the jury is still out on what this season holds for us. I myself will always remain an optimist so I am calling a 2-0 victory for Villa with Abraham and Grealish finding the net, but these games are usually tight and heavily contested so a positive start is key.

I have a good feeling about Villa at the moment and despite what Sunday brings I still fancy our chances of promotion but as I have stated before December is a tough month, but if we come through that and remain in the frame then our chances should greatly improve. UTV.

I'm reading that the Yannick Bolasie deal is to include an option to buy of around 15 million.

1.) 23 Aug 2018 17:00:30
Where are you reading that?

2.) 24 Aug 2018 01:55:48
Read it on DJC1983, sorry for the late reply I have had a long day/ night.

3.) 24 Aug 2018 16:47:40
Cheers for the update AVillaFan.

Trouble is with sites like HITC, they take a story from literally any 'source' (Some opinion pole in Australia or talksport for example) and then rehash it into an article. Just click bait really.
Would have thought any loan to buy deal for a player like Bolasie would have plenty of clauses in. including us getting promoted, him playing X% of games and us being covered for recurring injury. Probably why the whole thing is taking so long.

23 Aug 2018 02:31:46
Hoping that later today the Yannick Bolasie deal becomes official along with at least some progress on Tammy Abraham deal. Hopefully Bruce can get a couple more before the deadline then we will be a strong outfit for sure.

1.) 23 Aug 2018 08:22:30
I will be hoping for some defensive additions if I'm honest,
I will be very happy if we bring in a l/ back and c/ back.
Can't complain about the attacking additions that's for sure.

2.) 23 Aug 2018 11:44:29
I would prefer a LB and a CB over Tammy Abraham - Kodjia looks like he is back to his best so would he start ahead of him, I can't see it.

We are short up front at the moment but I believe El Ghazi has played in the central striker role before and surely Hogan and Davies can't be that far off from full fitness.

I'd much prefer us sign Matt Targett and a CB.

Do we all think the signing of Bolaise and El Ghazi will resolve our defensive issues in an odd way? Surely Elmo / Hutton will revert to RB, Axel to CB with Chester and fingers crossed Targett at LB?

3.) 23 Aug 2018 12:29:57
Absolutely, a LB and CB are required at this stage. To get Tammy Abraham as well would be greedy wouldn't it?

4.) 23 Aug 2018 13:55:58
I don't think we need a new LB as Hutton is great there. Elmo can revert to right back and Axel needs to move to the centre. Another reliable centre back is needed though.

5.) 23 Aug 2018 16:00:04
Kodjia does appear to be getting back to his best I must agree, but Abraham or another quality striker is essential also, given the injury problems we have. We don't want to become a one trick pony.

6.) 23 Aug 2018 16:29:03
We bossed much of the game last night and if we were a bit more cut throat up front then this game would of been well out of reach for Brenford long before their second goal.

7.) 23 Aug 2018 16:29:34
Also, and this would apply to bolaise, isn’t the. African cup of nations this year? So we may lose Kodja, Elmo during some of dec (not forgetting Kodja breaking his ankle again)

8.) 23 Aug 2018 17:03:58
Assuming we get Bolasie, I think I'm right in saying we can only sign one more loan player as the limit is five. So it'll be either a striker OR a defender, not both - assuming we don't get a free permanent transfer that is.

9.) 23 Aug 2018 17:53:26
Has anybody signed Huth, I can't believe nobody has snapped him up on a one year contract - Its not the approach the club want to take but may be worth a gamble before the window shuts.

10.) 24 Aug 2018 01:51:51
I think you can sign 8 loan players DJC1983 but only select 5 including subs for any one match.

22 Aug 2018 16:23:25
What do you people make of this I just read on twitter.

30m pumped into #avfc via Recon Group Ltd and companies House

which strangely actually looks like £103 million.

1.) 22 Aug 2018 18:07:29
Bit of a strange question mate, think you'd need to post more info to get any meaningful response. Companies House info is largely open to the public and I couldn't see anything like what you've mentioned - also, not sure what you mean by £30m looking like £103m?
With Villa clearly able to compete again on transfers and wages, this would suggest the owners are confident they can comply with ffp which would presumably mean increasing turnover and probably mean 'getting creative' with sponsorship like the big boys, so there might be something in this - just a bit of a vague post that's difficult to respond to mate.

2.) 22 Aug 2018 18:33:08
Its not really my field that is why it is vague, I was just going on what I read on twitter. It referred to Recon Group Companies House and stated 30 million pumped into Villa, yet the only figure I could see mentioned was 103 million. I don't claim to understand any of it that is why I was asking it's meaning.

3.) 22 Aug 2018 22:48:36
30 million is what the new guys paid recon for the 55 percent. That's been put into the club to help with ffp.

4.) 22 Aug 2018 23:03:57

Wasn't a pop mate, just not much to go on. so whoever tweeted that wasn't much use.
On the plus side, Kodjia back and two new wingers in. Should've won tonight and nice to see us dominate a game. we'd have lost that 12 months ago. Still unbeaten and hopefully a bit more of a sting in attack now to kill off games.

5.) 23 Aug 2018 02:23:14

I didn't take it that way but i appreciate the explanation. I was just trying to make some sense out of how we have kept our players, signed a couple and loaned a few with FFP hanging over us, the post on twitter didn't make much sense so I was hoping someone had a bit more info (thanks Kingy for your input) . I would like to know how we sit for the January window should we require strengthening.

In regards to the match, I too thought that we were on top for much of the game, we faded towards the end which cost us their second goal, but pushed hard for the equaliser. I think the new additions this month will have a huge impact on the rest of our season once the squad settles and I truly believe we will get automatic promotion.

Welcome Mr. McGinn, a great signing for us and look forward to watching him play. UTV.

1.) 09 Aug 2018 03:08:58
Heard rumours that Mr. McGinn reminded some people of a young kenny dalglish-now i know that's one heck of a burden to place on such a young players' shoulders, but its been said he just wants to play football and all that jazz off the pitch is out of his control so he's not interested and it doesn't bother him, i hope this is true because he looks like being a monster-if i were the new owners i'd insert a buy-out clause of at least 75 million-sounds mad but i've been told he's got that factor very few players have-maybe we won't miss jack after all if he legs it today or in january-damn, so that's what optimism feels like! --yes i know 75 million is madness, but you boys wait and see-I'M TELLING YOOZE-WE'VE ONLY GONE AND SIGNED A WORLDY! U. T. V.!

2.) 09 Aug 2018 08:22:13
Hears loads of praise from many pundits on mcginn,
Puts himself about likes a tackle great left foot and a really nice guy to boot,
Could be a really good buy and for 2.8mill with add ons it's a no - brainer for us,
Just hope we can bring in either maddison, Powell, or woods,
C/ back is needed and 2 strikers,
This success from Watford is hardly a great goalscorer looking at his stats,

I guess we all now know how Tyson Fury felt, we were robbed, enough said.

1.) 07 Dec 2018 23:21:24
I know mate and that was a shocker aswell, furys was so harsh he deserved it so much, just like us 2day.

01 Dec 2018 19:26:36
What can I say boys, 3-0 away from home against strong promotion contenders, 15 goals in four games, a clean sheet and of course those all-important 3 points. A fantastic all-around performance. UTV.

1.) 01 Dec 2018 20:01:31
Nothing to add.

01 Dec 2018 05:36:38
A really tough fixture to start the month, not many will get a lot of joy away to Boro this season. Still. I have a feel good factor about Villa at the moment so I'm feeling 3 pointer coming, by way of a 2-1 win.
Tammy and Mcginn (if fit) to score the goals for us, I'm just glad I never offered a prediction for the forest game because I would have been way off the mark.

Also hope Tyson Fury can pull off a shock victory in the early hours thus setting up a thrilling all British showdown with AJ for all the belts, that will get up the yanks noses.

1.) 01 Dec 2018 09:09:41
It’s nice not to be hearing from dingle AKA top of the lge I just wonder why he has gone quiet hopefully fingers crossed we can change his name for him to bottom 3.

2.) 01 Dec 2018 11:02:33
We have a decent record at the riverside,
Had some good wins there over the years,
I've got £25 bet on a 3-1 win at 28/ 1,
Set me up nicely for chrismas!

3.) 01 Dec 2018 15:25:36
If you had used Betfair Bob you would have got 44-1 for that score.
£1,021.00 for £25.

29 Nov 2018 06:10:25
A fantastic game which I'm sure was very entertaining for any fan of football. Yes, we failed to take the 3 points but on a positive we came from behind 3 times which is something we could not of done a few months back.

We have known all season about our defensive problems so I won't harp on and pick faults with that department as it's already been done, also Deano needs time to correct that issue and will likely do so in January if funds are available.

Going forward we now look like a team with goals in us and now appear to be a constant threat, if you need any proof of that you only need look at the 12 goals we have scored in our last three games all against reasonable opposition.

This team is taking shape under Deano I can tell you but whether it as come too late for this season is yet to be seen. Fix up that defence and make a few minor tweaks here and there and we should have a squad capable of making a last minute dash for the line. So fingers crossed, hopefully after December we will still be reasonably well placed to at least challenge for the playoffs or maybe better. UTV.

1.) 29 Nov 2018 07:48:39
I suppose one other good thing is that, even if we had won, we would still be 8th in the league, albeit with 2 more points.

25 Nov 2018 23:35:31
So pleased for Jack today, I predicted him to score and he delivered. The goal meant so much to him and his family and I can't think of a more deserving player to achieve the honour of a home goal against the old enemy. Great goal Jack I hope you score many more (for us of course) UTV.

1.) 26 Nov 2018 15:09:39
I will second that cocka.

If that is the case why was he allowed to go in the first place? he should not have even been available for selection.

Every single manager in the league is only a few games away from the chop that is common knowledge. The new owners stated long ago that they wished for a more youthful squad and Terry at 37 doesn't make it into that category. Much of the hype surrounding Terry is press generated after the crisis of our first loss but I think Terry has know moved elsewhere anyway so it's all irrelevant.

Can't see this happening, More likely a press generated tale until they can find some real news, much like Abraham who isn't even available as yet.

Tammy missed so many tonight which is so unlike him, but I suppose all players have off days. We still deserved the 3 points in my eyes, McGinn should have had a penalty and that shot that hit the woodwork was so unlucky. But to be robbed like that at the end of the match was disgusting.

I hope those two robbed points don't haunt us at the end of the season mate, the ref and linesman should be watching over league two games in the future. I also thought McGinn was unlucky not to get a penalty, what do others think?

I have to agree, I think Fergie was a one off manager and Man Utd will be extremely lucky to find someone to replicate his success.
