There's only one thing simpletons like me need to know, ffp is a load of gobbledy-gook like Villdave said, who leaves, who stays doesn't really matter, for me the only real question is whether bruce sticks with this 'massive club' (his words), or toodles off to leeds-now if he goes because we're trying to save money then fine;but i hope he offers to take a massive pay cut to stay and finish what he started, if he chips off under his own volition, then not only will it destroy all the belief i had in bruce as a man of honour, but also it'll just go to show he'd rather go to a club who'd sack a manager after 14 games, with a squad he'd inherited, rather than see the opportunity to become a true legend at our club, so the choice is with bruce, is he full of class, or spouts it out of his a*se, let's see what happens (i hope for the sanity of football he stays for sure) .

FFP is not an issue if your owner is prepared to gift the club money therefore underwriting spending. That is how clubs with genuinely wealthy owners have been able to get through FFP. Only when a owner starts wanting to run a viable business does this become an issue. The problem at Villa is that Xia’s money has only ever been in the form of loans meaning that they have a negative impact on the clubs balance sheet and show a very unprofitable organisation, which is not allowed under FFP.

FFP is not designed to stop wealthy people buying success, it is designed to stop clubs living way beyond their means by borrowing money they can never pay back (see Leeds and Pompey) .

Villas problem is that the club have borrowed the money from Recon and will owe it back, that money has now dried up I strongly suspect because it is starting to affect the viability of Xia’s broader business interests. Xia personally has not invested anything in Villa and never will, therefore we have the double whammy of facing FFP and an owner who can’t save us from that as he has no money to invest that he is prepared not to get back (if he did then he could gift the club a big sum of money and make all this go away, FFP and HMRC etc. )

Therefore the only way out of this is either a short term massive cash gift from a new wealthy owner or more realistically a 5 year restructuring programme to decimate the cost base and rebuild revenue from the bottom up. The latter probably involves some pretty painful years ahead unfortunately.

That is right. The good Dr is not as generous with the cash as he tries to make out.

12 Jun 2018 13:59:16
Good in depth post Ely, like I said yesterday posted below, sell the lot and start again.
Painful yes, but we need rid of these jokers, they know nothing about football and the roots our great club have grown from.
Xia said he planed to invest in or buy football clubs in India, Spain, USA and Australia to create a new 'sports sector' within his portfolio.
My advice is to forget it, play with toys you understand, and you won`t break them.

I'm not sure how we lie with financial fair play but the way I read it Villa have already met the requirements for 2017/ 18 but need to reduce outgoings by 40 million for 2018/ 19 to balance the books. If that is the case and providing Villa can stay afloat I don't see the need to let Jack or anyone go before January, that way we would at least benefit from half a season from them. But this is only my assumption and I could be way wrong that is why I don't run a football club, but I would be interested in your thoughts.

11 Jun 2018 19:11:15
Mate, that's all you will get only thoughts, people are just reading between the lines and guessing, we are not meant to understand it, it is all part of the game the big boys play.
I find it all a maze of cans and cant`s and does and don`ts.
Ffp could do with scrapping because it clearly has serious implications in its structure.
I might be wrong but I have not read anything on here that comes close to the real problems we are in, and the best way out of this mess.

11 Jun 2018 23:50:53
Gents I think FFP is the least of our worries from what I can gather. We're broke. If we were a high street store the shutters would be down.

One can only imagine every agent with a half decent player at Villa will be working flat out to get their cadh cows out of B6 this summer.

i think our situation is far more disturbing and complicated than merely a case of FFP and Dr T scrabbling around for this months tax bill.

11 Jun 2018 14:55:47
There is one certainty this season our expectations for going up are not very strong I fear.
More like going the dreaded drop again is very possible,

11 Jun 2018 16:05:31
For me it depends on the manager and how the inevitable Grealish sale will effect the books.

Bruce needs to go, we need a manager who will play with speed and freedom, and who is able to utilise and develop our young talent.

Also, and I've said it a million times, is Grealish a sacrificial lamb to maintain squad stability or the beginning of a mass fire sale?

Once we know the answer to the above we really can't predict next season - As it stands we would be in the mix for playoffs, as it stands.

11 Jun 2018 16:32:33
It's a fire sale I fear,
He will sell everybody who has a value and hope the young players step up to the plate,
But I'm not convinced Bruce is a young players type of manager,
But getting rid of him costs big money and in our position he will be allowed to stay unless he gets another offer elsewhere,

11 Jun 2018 17:26:43
so who really do you think should replace bruce?

11 Jun 2018 17:51:01
Sell the lot, and start again.
The way things are going, we will be getting Gabby back to start the ball rolling.
What a mess, come clean and get on with it, get it sorted and then get out and do something you understand.

11 Jun 2018 18:07:15
I don't who is brave enough to manage villa now,
Mad Mick would want it But I would not want him to to fair,
Dean Smith would work well with the young players and the football would please the fans,
But would he leave Brentford even though he supports the Villa?
It's a poisonous chalice to all concerned,
I'm more worried with the money situation it seems to get worse day by day,
We are the laughing stock of the championship in fact for all the leagues,
We need another owner but can't see anything happening anytime soon,
As for this story of bringing back gabby well that just about sums up how desperate we really are.

11 Jun 2018 18:12:54
No point worrying over something that may never happen if you ask me, it is what it is so we need to get on with it and see where we go. If we get stuck in the bottom six mid season then it's time to worry and not until. Try to stay positive instead of continually having negative thoughts you may feel a little happier. UTV.
