Also linked with Nick Powell. Does anyone think he would be a good addition as manu have released him.

1.) 10 Jun 2016 22:41:25
Would be worth a chance as long as he wasn't on ridiculous wages incase it doesn't work out.

2.) 10 Jun 2016 23:16:33
He's a villa fan apparently, never seen him play so know nothing about him, how about borthwick Jackson did he get released?

3.) 11 Jun 2016 06:00:07
Wouldn't be a bad shout linking him back up with Westwood like they were at Crewe Alex. Don't know about him being a Villa fan though. I went to the same school as him and his brother Matt was in my form and never heard anything mentioned about the Villa. But unlike some on here I won't claim to be ITK :)

4.) 11 Jun 2016 10:09:01
Can't see RDM (quite rightly) wanting to take chances with unknown quantities.
What we need are players where you know what you are getting. No more gambles please. When we are back in the Prem competing at the top end of the table we can through in the odd curveball to see if it takes us anywhere . In the season to come we need sure fire certs as far as signings go.

5.) 11 Jun 2016 14:39:54
Powell may be worth it free agents and loan players will be crucial in the rebuilding process. Only 22? I think and was one of the hottest prospects from the Crewe academy, dare it be whispered the next David Platt. My attention was caught by talk of Elphick from Bournmouth he exactly the type of player we need. Honest pro with experience of promotion from the division and a captain the kind of leader we have been lacking for a while now. Not sure why the cherries would let him go though.

Apparently we have had a bid accepted for a defender from a club in the premier league for around 3m I wonder who it is if the rumour is true.

1.) 10 Jun 2016 19:37:25
Ain't got a clue prob James Chester west brom pmsl.

2.) 10 Jun 2016 19:55:13
Knowing our past dabblings, my bet is Nigel winterburn.

3.) 10 Jun 2016 20:00:19
Chester is a good shout, struggling to think who else really.

4.) 10 Jun 2016 20:10:17
There was a link to a Bournemouth player yesterday was their not?

5.) 10 Jun 2016 20:59:40
The player is Tommy elphick, will join us for 3 mil an will also be named as club captain.

According to bbc tony xia has shown his finances and it is confirmed he has the money. The takeover is not going to fall through.

Bucky8816

1.) 01 Jun 2016 12:07:21
Pat Murphy from BBC just put all the lazy journalist trying to get a pay check making up stories back in their hole, Xia has shown proof of 52mil already paid into a UK bank account.

2.) 01 Jun 2016 12:28:23
Just read the same news Bucky. I think any sensible Villa fan will hold judgement until anything becomes offcial.

It’s frustrating waiting for news as we’re all so desperate for change, but the amount of misinformation being spouted by some media outlets and others ‘in the know’ is just embarrassing now. It’s too easy these days for a few unprofessional media sources on the internet to come up with a controversial headline just to get a few hits and sell some advertising space. Unfortunately these then spread like wildfire and a few people on here like to fly off the handle rather than thinking about it first.

As quickly as we want/ need to move forward as a club, a few extra days/ weeks spent making sure everything is in place and legit is better for everybody – Just ask some other big clubs what happens if you rush takeovers with anyone who has a bit of cash.
We’ve gone with the leading bid from a process that was looked after by Hollis and various legal groups employed specifically for this purpose, let's trust that people far more in the know and qualified than us wouldn’t have let it get this far if they weren’t confident Xia would pass with flying colours. If he doesn’t, we can moan all we like, but a lack of news isn’t necessarily bad news. Pre-season fixtures are confirmed and the transfer window isn’t even open yet. For all we know we already have five transfers, a new board and coaching staff lined up and ready to go. We’re hardly being left behind. Chillout.

here here.

4.) 01 Jun 2016 19:24:14

Bucky8816

1.) 29 Aug 2015 15:51:26
And Traore!

12 Aug 2015 11:04:05
I know we have a bit of money left over from the benteke/ Delph sales but not 35 million. We have been linked 15m for Townsend and 20m for the defender from Monaco that I can't pronounce. Where is the money coming from is randy Lerner willing to invest or is a takeover still on the cards

Bucky8816

1.) 12 Aug 2015 13:10:41
Imo its the money the club is making which is being reinvested in the playing squad

So the season hasn't even finished yet and already our players are being linked with exits. Yes it will happen but surely they will be better off staying at Aston villa if they want playing time look at benteke and Delph their playing time has decreased dramatically. Is grealish good enough to get it that West Ham team? Probably if he settled down. For me he would be our stand out performer in the championship. Also veretout getting in inter milans team I don't think so. These guys have got 4 years left on their contracts we should build the team around these players. Get rid of the dead wood i.e Gabby, Nzogbia, lescott. Richards will leave anyway there's some money saved there no need to get rid off the players that we should be building around.

Bucky8816

1.) 09 Mar 2016 20:07:39
We don't have a player worth building around.
Let them go, because if some one is willing to pay for any one of these 'players' all fall them.
Every single member of that squad should be transfer listed.
Not one member, except ayew- maybe, is worth keeping.
Not one of them is worthy of the security of a contract.
Not one of them would be a starter at any other club.
We need to get rid, start again, and look forward.

If these guys had a performance based contract, like 90% of the uks work force, they would be sacked.

I say good riddance. They are an embarrassment to us and the badge.

{Ed025's Note - thaat sounds harsh flackie...but hard to argue with mate..

2.) 09 Mar 2016 20:54:52
True though ed.
This team we have at min, is I think the worst prem team in history.
Yes we don't have the lowest point total in history, but the quality of opposition then was a lot higher.
This league this year is the poorest I can remember, as in the quality of who you are playing against just isn't there, and look at us!

I think seriously every single one of the first team should be ashamed of them selves.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that mate..

3.) 09 Mar 2016 21:38:32
Totally agree Flackie, they are shocking mate.

4.) 10 Mar 2016 08:42:21
Totally agree
They should be ashamed and embarrassed being part of the poorest premiership team ever

They have 27 points to play for
Or
will they turn up to lose 27 points
They probably though there agents had leaked there intentions for next season and a big signing on fee
The season isn't finished yet

I know Mendex and Flackie didn't agree with our call for Pearson but would he have let the season finish with not even a whimper
As I mentioned I was in corporate at man city and watched a 92 year old Doug Ellis bent over walking with a stick and a helper up and down the stairs to watch the villa
Maybe a few of the players should take a look at him and then a good look at themselves.

5.) 10 Mar 2016 09:55:23
I don't want Pearson for the extra baggage he brings.
I think he is a nasty man, and a poor manager. But, I can't argue with the point we would of laid down and died!

6.) 10 Mar 2016 09:58:57
Poor old Doug is like the rest of us, broken hearted but still there week after week because we love this great club. Fox, Riley and Almstadt need to be sacked immediately. Get rid of as many "players" as possible and for the first time in years PLEASE get a proper manager in. Someone who will assemble a team that will be proud to represent Aston Villa. Players that will give everything for the supporters and our famous club. If Hollis and King get the appointments right this could see good times return to Villa Park. Amen.

7.) 10 Mar 2016 12:23:52
*wouldnt of laid down and died! lol

Wouldn't say soton are a bigger team. They have got a few good players granted. Only reason soton are in Europe is because villa lost in the cup final. Any other season we would of been in Europe and wouldn't have the problem we got of our players wanting to move to play in Europe

I would personally still keep him I know he's injury prone and not done a lot lately but still better than senderos and baker. If something is happening behind the scenes he might stay. We will do well to keep any of our better players whilst there is uncertainty at the club
