I have waited for most of the facts to be made public before commenting on the Grealish incident.
Let us get real here, Grealish has behaved like an idiot.
Say what you will, Nitrous oxide is dangerous and will have a consequence further down the line.
It`s all well and good people defending him and to say that we have all done this sort of thing.
Yes we have or a least I have, but my future and career have never depended on it.
The guy will not listen, his demeanour says it all, Gascoigne did not listen, Best did not listen, the facts are clear and if he continues as he is he will be finished, and for that reason I would get rid, after all he is no Best or Gascoigne and never will be.
IMO he will not become the player we are all hoping for, something is missing.
Ed 001 made a statement further down the page and he is spot on.
Part of Eds Quote: Grealish is meant to be a professional footballer who is looking after his body to perform for the likes of you, who are now defending him for failing to do what your money goes to pay him to do.
I might add nobody apart from Finch and myself responded to that post, why I ask? maybe is it because he is correct?
Before I get slated I am not a prude, party pooper or fuddy duddy believe me I am far from it.

I don't disagree!

And this on its own is hard to argue against, and is separate from my point in another thread!

And I do agree with ed01's post, as said on another post!
Mitigating circumstances? Possibly, his 21st bday, then debatable whether he took the gas?
Free time? Not at work, not breaking any criminal law.
Are we right to judge his personal choices in his pvt life? I'm not so sure. I know I'm in no state to pass a judgment. If you are Dave, I bow to you.

Get rid? I'm not sure.
get him down from the high perch his put him self on? 100%

But the fact remains. rdm was given a job to do, to manage. Surely now is the time to let him.

This goes on at every club, don't be naive to think it doesn't, yet kept in house, from the press, fans and public.
Why is our dirty washing always aired like this?

Correct him, punish him, IF he performs on the pitch, I couldn't care.
Every single man and woman on this planet needs to let their hair down from time to time.

22 Sep 2016 22:07:56
I am not passing judgement Flackie I am giving my opinion on a subject that has a bearing on the team I have supported for 60 yrs, so no need to bow to me mate.
I say get rid because I am a too the point sort of guy, how many chances do you give someone? we need people in the trenches right now and I would not want him in my trench.
This does not go on at every club flackie, It would be naïve to think it did just to give Grealish the benefit of the doubt, it happens agreed but it is nowhere near as widespread as you are saying.
I do agree that people need to let their hair down from time to time, and I am not saying carry the good book around all the time, as I said before these antics can, and will lead to more serious events later on and maybe cause health issues.
I must add I have never really rated the lad to be honest, he is slow, thinks too much about what to do, and is predictable, he should watch videos of Best, Giggs, Waddle, etc, instead of sucking the air out of balloons, I preferred to suck the face off women get my drift.

22 Sep 2016 22:11:22
Said it before, Grealish believes all the hype that has gone his way by both press and supporters.
He is either a party animal or a pro footballer'
A great deal of talent but what has he added to the team this year?
When last asked, this question was answered "two goals".
More is needed both on and off the pitch.

22 Sep 2016 22:24:26
I have too agree Oldvillan.

22 Sep 2016 22:49:21
Great reply Dave!
And I can't argue with either of you, I'm just not sure if this is getting blown out of proportion. although I do accept it's not the first time.

I hope he proves you wrong, as I'm sure you do.
Any way, I'm off to suck the face of my Mrs!

22 Sep 2016 23:01:13
Had a party for his birthday - "believes all the hype" "behaved like an idiot" "his demeanour says it all" oh my. he has been in the papers 3 times in 2 years, and I've seen him compared to Amy winehouse and Paul Gascogne. I really don't know what's going on, he's been playing well, not pulling up any trees but performing on the same level as ages and probably better than McCormack and he had a birthday party the night after a game when they have a Sunday off. WHERE IS THE PROBLEM? The poor kid needs to lock himself in a room only come out for training and match days, god forbid he has whiskey on his Christmas pudding, we'd have to terminate his contract.

22 Sep 2016 23:46:32
I couldn't agree more Chris. He is a 21 yr old lad, not a Buddhist monk for heaven sake. All witnesses said he never even inhaled the stuff anyway. Blown out of proportion again.

23 Sep 2016 14:34:31
I'm bored now. Can we talk about football?

22 Sep 2016 12:08:14
Just to ensure I wasn't on the wrong site, I just thought I'd dig out the Oxford English Dictionary definition of 'Banter'. To my surprise, it is not defined as 'The constant and tedious ripping in to your own football club, management and players' but is actually described as follows

Noun = The playful and friendly exchange of teasing remarks
Verb: Exchange remarks in a good-humoured teasing way.

Now I don't expect Classof82 to get this as, with such an enormous class size, I don't imagine they could concentrate much on English grammar. However, the rest of you have no excuse!

22 Sep 2016 20:32:08
You live and learn!
Thanks!
As the old saying goes.

'If wit was s**t.! '

22 Sep 2016 22:51:44
my grammar was born in scotland and not english, innit!

22 Sep 2016 12:03:14
Here here Flackie.

22 Sep 2016 09:12:54
Well said Flackie someone with a bit of sense.

22 Sep 2016 07:14:16
Remember when this site was fun, about taking the psis out of clubs, each other and having a laugh?

All this ripping in to our own club, manager and players, (certain few excluded, hey worf etc! ) is boring, tedious and to be honest, coining a phrase from my old dear, switch offable!

So a 21 year old celebrates his birthday with his mates, not during his work time, nothing illegal, and nothing any of us wouldn't of done.

Then we get posts saying how we should be shouting from the roof tops because we haven't won the league already, (after 7 games! ) we got relegated last year, because we were not good enough, yet suddenly all these problems have been fixed?!

Get real people, new owner, new board, new owner, new playing staff. will take longer than 7 games to gel and settle. Longer if the life blood of the club berates and slags and rides the whole side morning noon and night.

Ever wondered why this site is getting quieter and quieter? Fewer people posting? As reading the same moan, just using different words on every thread is mind numbing, boring, and certainly not banter.

22 Sep 2016 07:52:59
Amen to that! Thought I was the only one defending Grealish for a second.

22 Sep 2016 12:43:47
You're right Flackie. The site is losing it's lustre as far as I am concerned.
Tedious and repetitive and that's just a description of how I feel about my own posts.

22 Sep 2016 17:09:51
Great post Flackie, I have been loathe to post lately and after our couple of games where we conceded late I didn't even want to read this site because of the rubbish I knew it would contain. I read this site as I am disconnected on the other side of the world from most things Aston Villa and used to get a great fans insight, sadly the rubbish is getting deeper and the gems are harder to find.

22 Sep 2016 17:11:55
Could I suggest another tab that reads Aston Villa negativity and put all the crap on that one so that some of us don't have to click on it and see it?

{Ed007's Note - On other sites we put all the repetitive moaning/girning posts on the 'Other Posts'. We could start doing that on here if you guys post enough stuff to keep the rumours/banter posts current - we (the Eds) don't want people logging on and the first thing they see is a post from two days ago. That just makes the site look as if it's either not updated regularly or it's not attracting enough posts to bother sticking around to post yourself.}

22 Sep 2016 17:55:35
Well said flackie and very true, I don't read or post as often anymore for the pure fact I enjoy banter not constant whining. get enough of that at home!

22 Sep 2016 18:50:55
It's a double edged sword ed, as I'm sure that I'm not the only one who doesn't come on so much now as it's just painful to just see only negative remarks, but so many have stopped posting because of this, with out, I would agree at present, make the site look redundant.
Also, there is constructive negative, and trying to decide what is, and needs to remain would be hard!

However, I do think if it was less, most would post more. I know I would.

We all love villa. Live, breath eat and siht this club.
as I've said before, to appreciate the good times, you have to endure the bad. however that doesn't mean with your eyes closed!

{Ed007's Note - We'll give it a bash using the 'Other Posts' page for all the moaning and see how it goes. But you're now responsible for AT LEAST one 500 word positive post a day to get things going ..... ;-)
All joking aside though, we certainly don't want to be driving posters away that's for sure but we can only post up what's being sent in - we might even find an AV Ed amongst you.}

22 Sep 2016 20:13:43
Absolutely agree Flackie! So come on let's put the fun back in lol I'll start with a tale that I thought very funny and clever! Was in the 1980's and some will recall villa played Odford United in the league cup semi final I think? Villa brought loads to the old Manor Ground many without tickets! Some managed to sneak in but one bright south Birmingham lad went to the ticket office (was like a shed) and waited in the cue to see if there were any returned tickets. There was an old chap with a paper list of names for guest/ complimentary tickets who was ticking off names when tickets were collected. The villa lad asked if there were any spares and was of course told no none, however he managed to memorise three names on the list. He went back to his mates and gave three each a name. With colours hidden they went to the kiosk one by one and were gifted the tickets when they gave their new names lol can anyone confirm they have heard the same story and or is it an urban myth? ! UTV.

22 Sep 2016 20:28:19
Jesus! Not sure I know 500 words! Let alone 500 positive ones!
An Aston Villa editor? Can I suggest to start the search at the Samaritans?

Anyway! Thanks for the reply
Let Jesus, (ed01) know I didn't miss his George best reference, just not sure jack should be mentioned in the same breath as the great man, yet!
Cheers ed! ;)

{Ed001's Note - I agree on Best, the point is that Grealish models himself on Best, without realising the incredible work Best did to get to where he was. He used to spend hours with a tennis ball every single day, just practising obsessively, before he began his wild ways.}

22 Sep 2016 20:37:24
I've never heard that, but god alive I hope that's true! Lol.

22 Sep 2016 20:42:13
I know mate!
What a legend. in every aspect! Never met the man my self, so this is second hand, but used to employ a lady who knew him, socially! The story's she used to say! And the acts of kindness he did! RIP mr best.
Although I totally agree with your comments, you know I like to have a niggle at you!

{Ed001's Note - he was a lovely guy, my uncle was very good friends with him, despite him being a Liverpool fan and Scouser. He could be a pain to work with though, as he would just disappear at times. The thing was, he just needed someone to help him and steer him clear of the booze early on. Sadly it never happened.

Niggle? You?? Never! ;-)

22 Sep 2016 20:58:47
Spot on.
Good to speak to you again Jesus!
Keep up the good work! (Love thy neighbour and all that! )

{Ed001's Note - hahaha. Just remember to turn the other cheek, so I can give that one a slap next time instead, and all is good!}

22 Sep 2016 21:09:18
Steady sailor! ;)

{Ed001's Note - that will teach me to read back what I post before clicking submit in future! I just realised what I said. That is more Ed007's thing than mine.}

22 Sep 2016 21:21:16
Lol!

{Ed001's Note - at my age, double entendres is all I have anyway!}

22 Sep 2016 22:05:58
Now there is an image a can't get out my head!

{Ed001's Note - You are very welcome.}

22 Sep 2016 00:10:01
Who gives a crap about a spoilt brat and his childish antics. He is not good enough to change things, all of the many posts detract from the facts. Get real and start to get the message to our overpaid failures that we expect more. The amount of posts that are accepting the mediocrity currently being served up is sending the wrong message. We expect more and should be shouting this.

22 Sep 2016 11:26:50
hopeful, i see you're hitting the bullseye there, but remember, in the modern game we must not be too eager to boo them or show disdain, we don't want to shatter their confidence. after all, the result will be them being unable to play due to emotional turmoil leaving less of a squad to choose from!

poor old rdm and clarkey have to put up with these drama queens on a daily basis and coax a good game out of them too, but that's showbiz!

21 Sep 2016 23:51:44

His been fined 50k by aston villa i think his had enough chances now your right his not that good anyway or villa wouldn't be fighting relegation again. Its a joke how can the villa players be aloud to go to a night club 4 grelishs birthday when there so crap you think they would stay in or have a drink round his house wouldn't you? No grelish won't have people round his house as he knows there idiots and don't want his house messed up!

The whole clubs a joke again they still can't win a game they still got players going out partying you don't get this at other clubs no chance of going up at all there rubbish people want to argue look at the league! 4 wins in a year and half pathetic.

22 Sep 2016 11:38:31
Mr. know. it. all, i understand your sentiments, but he's 21 and full of vim and vigour. of course he's out at nightclubs with his mates, that's what we all did, and the chance he has to plant his flag where he wants is what every fella at that age would sell his soul to be able too! also mate if you think it doesn't happen anywhere else, that just proves how good other clubs are at sweeping it under the carpet.
