Since he has come back from injury he has got better and better and has showed how well he matials the defence, his distribution has been first class and he has made hardly any mistakes. I am beginning to think there must be something personal in this loathing.

I think in the Mings versus Torres debate you pays your money and you takes your choice. In my view Mings is quicker, good in the air and has better leadership qualities however Torres’s is better on the ball, he reads the game well and by and large his distribution is better. Emery seems to prefer centre backs who bring the ball out from the back draw the opposition to them thereby creating space in midfield for his team to exploit and Torres fits that bill better than Mings. Personally I think not much to choose between the two centre backs but I have said on here before if everyone is fit and Unai picks his best XI then I believe Torres will get the nod.

Mings would have hit it into his own net. Torres left it as Martinez should have got it. The way torres was spraying the ball out was a pleasure to watch even konsa made some brilliant passes. A performance to be proud of.

Just don’t think he is good enough and clearly Emery thinks the same Torres was fantastic. However there are certain games I would start mings over Torres but 9/10 pau gets the nod such a clever defender and carries the ball fantastic
