i heard grealish is storming league 1 should be a regular next season he's much better than gabby
Believable7
Unbelievable15
Gabby on his day is unplayable and defenders always mark him as they know he has pace to burn. Maybe next year Albrighton, Grealish, Helenius, Weimann, Gabby, Benteke? will be the forwards - who knows!
Agree25
Disagree3
Do you watch football? Gabby is a good player at prem standards if he went to league 1 he would storm it he would demolish it.
Agree13
Disagree5
There is many young players I'd love to see more of: Gary Gardner (injured as always right now), Samir Carruthers, Jack Grealish, Mikey Drennan, we have an array of young talented players, Grealish is back in January as is Carruthers - so maybe they will get some games under their belts in a Villa shirt in the second half of the season
Agree11
Disagree5
Lets not put too much pressure on these lads, too many people are expecting them all to play at the age of 18 and be villa's answer to messi, yes some of them will be good premier league players but let's give them a bit of time to develop their game first.
Agree6

I hope helenius starts getting game time soon. He looks a better player than kozak imo. Although they're different kind of players. I'd like to see him pair benteke in the same formation we used against city
Agree11
Disagree3
Hi if you are good enough you are old enough think Arsenal ie Wilshere barkley everton too many to mention villajk
Agree4
Disagree4
I did actually chuckle to myself when I read that comment above suggesting that Grealish is better then Gabby. don't get me wrong I have heard great things about him and he is definately one to watch out for but to draft him in ahead of one of our better players is ridiculous!
I appreciate Gabby seems to split fans and opinions seem to vary towards him from game to game from some 'fans' but for me he is a main stay and should always be in the team when fit. Yes he isn't consistent in front of goal but his pace and willingness is always there. behind Benteke and Delph, for me he is one of the first names on the team sheet and has been one of our better players this year.
Agree7
Disagree0
Well we don't have a wilshire, barkley or januzaj on our hands, we have a gabby, a townsend so on and so forth, if you can name on one hand the teenagers playing in the premier league than that says it all, carruthers and gardner have both been given first team action and it was clear they weren't ready so I say again, let's give the young lads a bit of time to play some football before sticking them in with the big boys to get bullied every week
Agree4
Disagree4
Gardner would or should be playing if was fit better than the cheap imports, you could buy those player from Scotland, the leages they play in are not as good as Scotland, i'm talking about 21yr old not teenagers
Agree5
Disagree1
We are all talking about grealish, that's the 18 year old grealish. Gardner probably would be near the team, but he's 21 so the point is invalid
Agree4
Disagree2
Carruthers? mate, he got game time under McLeish and megged Steven Gerrard and then unfairly got booked for a "dive" which should of been a penalty! how is that out of your depth? and that was 2 years ago!
Agree8
Disagree4
Oh wow he once megged a player in the prem let's start him every week. Ask an MK Dons fan if he's any good 'mate'
Agree4

Great comment ethAVFC, totally agree.
We played players last year who had gained expereince in the lower leagues and they struggled to adjust straight away, needing 3 months or so to start getting to grips with the demands. Young players need a footing and not just chucked in there. Grealish and Carruthers getting game time is good for them and good for us in the long haul.
People have to remember that Wilshere played regularly on loan at Bolton before Wenger gave him a chance and Barkley spent most of the last 18 months in the Championship. Look at Sterling. Looked a world beater in his first 10/12 games then massively got found out and struggled to recover.
Lambert is doing the right things with the young kids on the brink.

I have, been to some of their games also with my girlfriend, so yes I have and they say he's a great prospect, open up your eyes and feel the warmth.
Agree5

How anyone can think agbonlahor and weimann are good footballers is totally beyond me I haven't missed a minute of action this season and they have both been awful and are championship quality players with nothing at all to offer bar pace. unfortunately it is only a matter of time before delph and benteke will be forced to leave because they won't want to play for us much longer not that losing benteke would hurt us that much as he is a shadow of last season and i'm convinced helenius could do just as good a job. the team still can't win at home can't even notch a goal and generally look lost at this level. another relegation battle looms. you can disagree all you like but there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.
Agree5
Disagree7
Have to agree grealish is a way better FOOTBALLER than gabby who is merely an olympic sprinter. has anyone seen him DRIBBLE with the ball? now, dribbling is all about close control, nifty footwork, agility and balance, sorry, but gabby can't dribble, his first touch, passing, finishing, anything TECHNICAL is terrible. he is NOT prem standard anyone who disagrees need to take a look at themselves seriously
Agree5
Disagree9
On his day gabby is unplayable the problem is midfield no killer pass etc that includes Delph who is looking good in a bad team, when is PL going to trust some of the young players
Agree4
Disagree5
Helenius do as good as benteke. Are you having a joke? Helenium is incredibly average and benteke is one of the best strikers in the prem and, before his injury, scored 5 in 5. Think carefully before you start saying a player that h s hardley played is as good as benteke who I'm sure every team in Europe want apart from real and barca
Agree4
Disagree6
Benteke would boss it at real. They wouldn't take the risk though. I agree with the other guy that gabby is not as good technically as grealish although I would still probably play gabby. Can't see why sylla doesn't start? And Weimann needs to either pick up his game or be dropped.
Agree6
Disagree3
And how many of these 'days' does gabby have? 1 in 20 if we lucky get him out
Agree4
Disagree5
I think gabbys game relies on him being mentally fit. Once he hits a bit of form he's quality. Until the end of the season or until he gets injured

I've been watching this forum for a while now, looking at the rumors and such, and I LOVE to say this, Joey IS a target for Villa, and one I would welcome with open arms looking how weak we look, even if he's not ON the pitch he wouldn't take any s**t off it or in the dressing room, Rodwell would be a great signing, although not sure what his wages would be.
also heard Jermaine Defoe a MASSIVE target for Lambert and again, I think he could do well for a season or two

Aston Villa is apparently the club which has been sounded out by Ralf Rangnick and Gerard Houllier for a possible takeover on behalf of Red Bull, whom are reportedly searching to take an established EPL team into the Champions League and make them a world-force.
The figure which Lerner is apparently holding out for is roughly the £135m figure.

Would love this to be true

Hi Mate
Where is this coming from?
Agree3

I started to hear something on that this morning too, I knew there was interest at the end of last season from Daryl Katz to buy Villa, but this would be an even better move in my opinion lads!
Agree5
Disagree5
Ok. let us not berate Lerner though, he has been a steady enough chairman. The inner conservative in me looks at other clubs who have had these takeovers promising to take them to new heights. that wee club down the road for one.
Agree10
Disagree3
Houllier did say he had unfinished business with villa but I do like the steady progress we are making under lambert and lerner, lerner tried with oneil and it prove nearly the ending of us in the premier league but who knows where this can lead too but I do hope if anything does happen that the young and hungry direction is one we do stick too, imagine a squad full of potential and players like ben20!

I heard something also about this today and I knew Houllier was involved in the Red Bull footballing element, so can be seen very likely to be true perhaps.
Agree3
Disagree5
I'm more than happy with how things are going and Lerner trusts Lambert and Lambert has a proper plan for success and the £7m we spent on Kozak shows Lambert has Lerner's backing to the hilt. No takeover please!
Agree5
Disagree6
Mixed feelings on this one, lerner has done a good job and put a lot of money into us over the years, and with lambert at the helm things are starting to look rosy as ever. I doubt they'll bring the billions that the man city owners would but if we want to get any further than mid table we do need to splash the cash. what's to say randy won't do that if we are getting the results though?
The reason randy is being more cautious with his money is because he threw millions at MON and we won nothing, then he three millions at one player in bent and we nearly got relegated.
Also if we were bought out, do we think lambert would stay as manager? Because if not then no deal, as lambert is the only manager that respects aston villa, he wants to build a team that will be successful for 10-15 years, and wants to be a part of it all.
Agree7
Disagree4
Well said ethAVFC! Imagine if Lerner gave Lambert money to buy more £7m-£10m players which pay off - I believe Lerner will invest when he see's the rewards again instead of Villa being a constant suction on his wallet.
Agree8
Disagree1
I think sentiment may be running away with us (even more so than imaginations)
Anyway, just for a minute, I am going to get way, way ahead of myself and imagine that someone like Red Bull come in with a shed load of cash which they want to spend on world class players and a truly world class manager (perhaps the Dortmund manager for argument sake)
Overall, would I be happy about that? Yes
Is Lambert the only manager who can do a good job at Villa given the right resource? No
Would I be happy if Lambert was paid off and someone like Klopp (substitute for anyone you believe to be a better manager than Lambert)came in? Honestly, Yes
Before everyone jumps on me in defending Lambert, does anyone really think he would stay if offered 3 times his wage, a massive transfer kitty and a return to Dortmund?
Anyway, before we all fall out let's not forget that this whole Red Bull thing is speculative in the extreme {Ed001's Note - Red Bull are considering West Ham and Everton first and foremost as the best options.}
Agree2
Disagree3
Okay mendax I see your point but at the same time, i'd rather build something very steady under a manager (lambert or not) than be bought out for the sake of bringing in a new manager every season when we don't win the league, the champions league, the FA cup and the league cup. Give me the option of being like arsenal or chelsea and i'll take arsenal every day of the week thank you.
Agree4
Disagree3
Hi ethAVFC. I think we are pretty much agreeing
I would love to follow the Arsenal model as well
They have just spent £42 million on one truly world class player who has transformed them
I just don't ever see that kind of thing happening under Lerner. I think the MON experience has scarred him too deeply (you can see his point)
Agree3
Disagree2
Everton are the team Red Bull are looking at. They want a champions league side immediately and let's be fair Everton have been on the fringe of that for some time.
Finch {Ed001's Note - they are also considering West Ham.}
Agree4
Disagree2
Am I the only one who will be particularly galled if they choose West Ham over us or Everton based on the fact that they are acquiring a spanking new stadium, for a fraction of what it cost to build using taxpayers money?
In effect, the rest of the countries supporters will have paid to make them a more attractive proposition.
Annoying does not come close
Agree5
Disagree3
From an outside point of view (not a Villa, Everton or West Ham fan) I would think West Ham are the most desirable club for that kind of takeover. They are a big club, have lots of history, world known, massive fan base, big capacity stadium (Olympic site) and to cap it all off they are a London club.
Agree6
Disagree7
To the poster above, we have more history than west ham, we have played on a european stage more often and more recently than west ham as well as having a huge recent fanbase in china due to our chinese casino sponsors of the last few years and the various things villa do in the community in china. Also villa park is seen by many as one of the most historic ground in the country, it has staged internationals, FA cup finals, and very recently the community shield. The only thing west ham really have that we don't is a shiny new (not all that huge) stadium and a capital city home. For me, everton would be the first choice as they are currently the closest to champions league as has already been pointed out and have a fair bit of history also.
Agree6

Everton will need an awful amount of cash simply for a new stadium before any chance of attracting top players

Hi don't believe RL will sell, but can anyone tell me were Gary Gardner is?To me the best prospect we have.

Gardner is on the injury list, nothing new there.

Gardner suffered another turn on his back injury and will be back in roughly a week's time if all is fine.

This Red Bull business is utter rubbish, written by an person and anyone who believes a word of it is deranged.
No one is ever going to pay Mr Lerner 135 million for the club anyway - a ridiculous amount of money plucked out of the air by a lunatic.
Villa fan of Great Barr.

If bale is worth 100m then how is aston villa not worth 135m? though I do agree this is a made up ammount and that the whole thing about the takeover is a load of bull crap

All Red Bull s--t!
Agree5

How r some people saying no to this! This could take Aston villa back into the main European trophy. Think how well lambert doing with limited supplies imagine him with umlimited amounts! This would be incredible
Agree0

It's not like the owner of red bull has asked us personally and we're saying no. We're saying no because its ridiculous speculation. We must get at least 5 takeover rumours a year. Probably from the same bloke as well

Im saying that to the people that are saying they wouldn't want this to happen when it would be extraordinary
