I think after Saturday it is obvious that we need quality full backs first. If we aren't going to play without any midfield width then the full backs have to be better than we have.
If we are going to raid Hull then it should be for Robertson, their left back!!

Didn't realise we weren't allowed to cite sources on here. Totally agree Wiso111, full backs have got to be a priority as well as getting rid of some of the ones we've got (Luna, Bennett et al). Wouldn't mind Mo Diame off Hull if it looks like he's getting over his injury.

Villa are showing an interest in QPR's Matt Phillips for a summer transfer, I assume it is as an alternative to Scott Sinclair.

Talks are scheduled for after the match at the weekend.

I do believe that Sinclair has already signed, so why would Phillips be of use?
Gil is sitting out his time when surely he should be on the pitch.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I was only assuming it was instead of him as I hadn't checked into the situation, just that there was interest in Phillips and it was a natural assumption. Maybe he is wanted to replace N'Zogbia? He can play all across the front line, left wing, attacking mid and right wing. I am sure he could play as a striker too. Maybe to push Agbonlahor and cover Benteke injuries?

All I know is the interest in Phillips is real, the rest is just me giving possibilities.}

Obviously it's not as an alternative to Sinclair for the reasons stated
But I'm surprised people are dismissing the idea because we have signed Sinclair
I've thought for a while that we should play 4-5-1 with 2 out and out wingers and Grealish as a no 10. Hopefully this means Sherwood agrees
I don't see Gil as a winger; he could play as a no 10 as well though
N'Zogbia is someone I would farm out at the first opportunity
I hope you are right Ed.

Like Mendax says I would at least like the option of playing with out and out wingers. I think we would be better off buying a really solid Right Back and pushing Bacuna forward as - someone like Keiran Trippier from Burnley as it would improve the back 4 and give us dedicated wingers in Bacuna with Sinclair on the other side.

Could be. Although he probably won't get that many games there.

Morning red top again stating that there could be three groups looking at buying AVFC.
C'mon Lerner make my day, sell quickly and let someone invest money on players.

Would a takeover really make any difference? Obviously it would offer more stability for the future but in terms of investment I can't see a massive improvement due to FFP regulations. Fans need to be realistic it's literally impossible to plough money into the club like Chelsea and City now.

FFP will be relaxed this summer according to Platini

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2015 14:07:25
Well in that case FFP is completely pointless and should just be scrapped.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 May 2015 21:28:21
FFP was introduced following consultation with the top clubs in every league, this meant that they successfully stopped other clubs from spending the owners money once the agreement was concluded.
This is where Lerner defended his lack of funds, 48.6m in the last 4 years.
Platini has realised that the teams that had already spent big money were restricting "smaller" clubs from buying bigger names.
Could be interesting if FFP is relaxed!

20 May 2015 05:20:16
FFP 'in principal' is a good idea but has been poorly executed. The result is the 'big' clubs remain 'big' and no other teams can speculatively invest in order to catch up. Will be interesting to see what they come up with to allow clubs to invest speculatively without ruining themselves. If they can nail that, it will be excellent for football in general.

Wilson from man u to join on loan next season as I told you many weeks ago. Sherwood also to move fast for Dawson to replace vlarr when hull go down. Left back Jetro williams is also a 6 million target.

According to radio this evening there is a buy out clause in Benteke's contract at £32m.
This is insufficient in the current climate.
Lukaka went for 28m so Ben must be 40/50m. If he came in from a European club they would be asking 50+.
We must keep him, almost at any cost. If Lerner does sell the club then perhaps new owners may want to invest in our prize asset.

National newspaper stating that there could be 3 interested parties looking at buying AVFC.
Whoever becomes the new owner they will have to offer any manager substantially more than the 45.8m over 4/5 years if we are to climb the table.
We don't want to lose Ben or Delph, in fact there are few players that can be moved out.
But what has happened to Gil?
It will be a shame to lose a player that showed so much promise because he doesn't get a game.

Eds can I have your thoughts on the potential take over at villa, who's looking, is it viable, are they rich, potentially good owners?

{Ed002's Note - It is a business proposition led by Paul Smith who was a Director of Chelsea for a few years and some investors. Smith is a shrewd commercial/marketing guy who will look to increase the profile of the club to bring in additional income - and it would likely be that money that will be re-invested in the club.}
