Aston Villa are interested in Spartak Moscow striker Artem Dzyuba for around 7m although he's not a prolific scorer with just 8 goals in 28 games. This is because Bas Dost is rumored to be not keen on a move to Villa

Aston Villa are keen to talk to Manchester United's 19 yr old defender Ritchie de Laet, who is out of contract in June

Aston Villa target Granit Xhaka 19 yr old midfielder from FC Basel.

Villa also hoping to land Guthrie on a free from Newcastle

Also Martin O'neill is hoping to sign Dunne and Agbonlahor in the summer

Agbonlahor still have 4 years remaining on his contract and he said he wants to finish his career at villa park. he's not leaving.

Stan Petrov is held in great esteem by all Celtic fans. I was very sad to see him leave but very pleased he has done such a great job as your Captain at Villa. Think if you are are half decent player with any ambition then Villa would hold little attraction. At best the target is premiership survival - probably in 17th place. As a ST holder I certainly won't be rushing to sign up for next season early, despite the discount ! It's about time Lerner & Co understood what makes the Villa fans tick and, more importantly, what p***** them off.

edds; any idea who are linked with,and any truth in this so called take over {Ed001's Note - I have no clue about any takeover, only thing I know is that Lerner is unhappy with the direction the club is taking. He spent money hoping to do what Newcastle are doing, but MON failed and now the gates are down and money is tight, it is difficult to invest right now. But I have not heard of any definitive interest in Villa, though AEG have held exploratory talks with a number of clubs, Villa being one.
As for players, I had heard talk of a season long loan move for Jack Robinson from Liverpool being lined up for next season. That is the only new rumour I have right now, but it is still a long way from the start of the transfer window yet.}

Ed : Gates are down at Villa because of the appointment Lerner made at the start of the season. I know of a number of season ticket holders who didn't renew their season tickets purely due to the appointment of a ex Blues manager and many others who are unlikely to renew at the end of this season due to the dire brand of football we have seen this season. Pains me to say it but seems to me that Lerner & Co have settled for mediocrity ! {Ed001's Note - I agree Lerner hasn't helped himself, but gates were dropping anyway, so you can't blame that entirely.}

The gates have dropped dramatically because of the appointment of McLeish, no other reason, the club is advertising that it is lacking ambition. Villa fans tend to vote with there feet. lerner needs to go and so does his 2 sidekicks

ed who do you think we will actually sign in the summer? {Ed001's Note - no idea, it is only March! Villa, like most clubs, are busy scouting, very few moves have been made. Matty Phillips is one the club have looked at very closely and Tom Ince, also of Blackpool. Clyne of Palace and McLeary(sp?) of Forest have also been looked at very closely. There has also been another Forest youngster, I think it is Chambers but can't remember off the top of my head, that has been watched. That is all I can think of right now. That is not a comprehensive list, just the ones in the Championship that have been looked at in the last few weeks. The full list of scouted players will be huge and only get whittled down after the season, when the club makes its moves.}

So sort of what we did with ashley young then?
get a championship sort of player (even though we bought him off watford when they just left EPL)
matty phillips & tom ince look good and so does Clyne.
i can't say i like the others really. {Ed001's Note - no, they are just some of the players I know you have scouted, there are scouts all over Europe doing the same and teams near the bottom of the Prem get watched too. Those are for the next Young-type signing, when the season is over, the 3 that go down will have a fight on their hands to keep players.}

If Wolves go down which I hope they do, expect Villa to pounce for Matt Jarvis who is underrated and is always a consistent performer and can provide the type of service bent expects

Just looked on tribalfootball.com and i dunno how reliable it is, but it reckons N'zogbia (Rated 9 million) + Cash (About 6 million) swap for Olivier Giroud at montepellier (Rated at 15 million).

To me it sounds BS unless we are selling bent which we aint. We need Zog cuz our lack of wingers and creative mids.

New York Red Bulls have agreed a deal to sign Stephen Ireland.
The deal is believed to be worth around £10m.

Charlie n'zogbia is going to PSG for £14m
he does not want to play defensive football.

It's true about Stephen Ireland joining NY red bulls there's been no mention of a fee can't see it been anything like 10ml.
Michael Ballack's agent Michael Becker was teyung to get him move to Ny but turnaround out 3rd foreign spot on roster is going to Ireland. Apparently deal was done in October according to Becker.

Put into prospective our result against Fulham Swansea win 3_0 at Fulham AM must go

When we beat fulham they were on a high after winning 5-0 against wolves, swansea beat them after losing to us, so they may have been low on confidence, give mccleish a chance at least until he has a deccent amount of money to spend

Swansea have only just been promoted, this means they are not a better side, probably a better organised or even a better team ethic, but for a team to be better they need to be established in the league for a number of years.

Ed do you think there would be a chance of us getting an established premier league full back? {Ed001's Note - there aren't a lot available, certainly Fabio Aurelio will be available, but Villa have not shown any interest in him as of yet. Apart from that, it will be picking up a player from a relegated club, Wigan's left back is one McLeish rates highly, so I would expect a move for him if they go down.}

I'm pretty certain the "unnamed player" that we're signing on a Bosman transfer in the summer is Ivica Olic who's contract with Bayern Munich runs out at the end of the season.

Usless again. Mcleish HAS to go. If we cannot beat Wigan or Blackburn who are both terrible it's because of his tactics, choice of team and substitutions. If we do not get 6 points from the next two games we really are in a relagation scrap with the next few fixtures. Relly can't see where we will pick up ten points from at the moment to get to this so called safe 40 points he reckons will make him sleep easier.

Typing this as I travel on my way back to Kent after watching some of the most turgid S*** football I have seen. First fifteen minutes we were ok but after that we sucked and that's being generous. Look at our fixtures - we needed to win this game but now were going to get sucked in to a relegation scrap.
This game as finished me. Travelled all over the country and Europe supporting beloved Villa but no more. A manager who couldn't play good football if it bit him in the a*** and a chairman who couldn't care less about out team any more and has now released that you cant make money out of a premiership football team unless you Man U or Arsenal so wants out.

There are strong indications that Randy Lerner is lining up a short list of possible replacements for Mcleish should results not go his way over the next ten days. Poyet is top of the list apparently with Curbishley and Keane as other possibles!
