Ed whats the latest on clyne ? Thanks. {Ed043's Note - as far as we know there has been very little out of villa park or from clyne and his agent about any move so it iis still just rumour however there has been many links about this so a move for him is still very much on the cards}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

My sources close to the club suggest that he is actually very close to moving to West Ham. He is keen to stay in London and cement a regular first team place. A move to Villa looks more unlikely each day

Clyne has chosen to play for villa next season fee yet to be confirmed though also interested in mark davies and zaha mite follow clyne for 5 million

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Who is clyne? {Ed043's Note - the young english right back who currently plays for crystal palace, he is a very good prospect and could see lambert being interested in signing him for what would be around 5 million}

Villa interested in 5m rated midfielder from bolton Mark davies

My mate works with villa and he said were on verge of signing tom ince for 4 million whittingham for alan hutton jordan rhodes 5 million and nathaniel clynne 3 million and about to enquire about lescott for 6 million {Ed043's Note - these are all very possible signings for lambert as he plans to build his own squad however to complete all these signings will be very difficult as the clubs may want more than villa are willing to offer}

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I hope this all comes true!
But we have to realise we must use our academy better not just buy every player in!

Agree7 Disagree1

Whose your mate paul lambert?

Agree5 Disagree0

I hope this is all fact

Agree3 Disagree0

Lescott supports villa so if man city sign new cb could see him coming

Agree3 Disagree2

I hope the above transfers happen as it would mean villa would have signed 3 experienced players and 4 exciting young prospects which would be a good bit of business in the transfer window giving villa what would hopefully be a decent attacking team

Agree7 Disagree1

Hope Tom ince signs quality player

Agree7 Disagree0

Y would lescott leave man city & if he did there would be bigger clubs than us in for him never going to happen.

Interesting 1 for other villa fans
i've been thinking why dont villa buy a couple talented young players who wont cost that much but have the ability to step up such as
ince,zaha,rhodes,phillips but
when you look at the previous youngsters villa have bought in young, milner, delph and stevens we have a hit and miss ratio

so the question do villa invest for the future or 25-28 yr olds who have experience but may not be any good i.e el ahmadi {Ed043's Note - this is a fair question to ask however with some of the young talent we have had and have progresed beyond villa with the likes of young, milner, barry and cahill to name a few. it seems as if the positives out way the negatives because villa are re-building the side to climb the table so we cant expect a quick fix so maybe looking at the likes of rhodes whilst adding experience can be a good thing}

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Delph hasn't being a bad buy but has had injury problems, if he can complete a hole season we could see him get player of the year, while Stevens hasn't played a game yet so you can't really give judgement on him but do agree we should go for younger more electric players in the wide and forward positions while getting more experienced players through the spine of the team to have a nice balance

Agree8 Disagree2

Villa dont have a future
We will only sign no bodies
a difficult season for a new manager who will not have time to build a side like he did at norwich

Agree2 Disagree16

Villa dont have a future???
Your either not a villa fan or well no your just not a villa fan.
Our future is villa be it in this league or the local sunday league, this team is who we follow through thick and thin.
I feel this is going to be a great season and its a new fresh start. No season is ever easy as they call it the premier league for a reason.
Just either realise why you love the villa or get a man city shirt.

Agree11 Disagree1

I have a real buzz around Lambert & how things are shaping.
I just hope he signs a few more attacking options e.g Rhodes &/or Ince.
Irish football fans used to call Stevens the next big thing in Ireland & was known as the best player in their league last season before January.
We have to give Stevens time & look at Delph & give the lad a go!

Is Benejamin Siegrist any good? {Ed043's Note - he is still a very young goalkeeper who has a lot of time to really become a good keeper however we have seen that young keepers such as hart or butland have shown promise early in his career so only time will tell if he can burst through the villa ranks}

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Seigrist is excellent. Presence, good positioning and great agility. Watch highlights of reserves in last years 'Nextgen Comp' on villa website.

Agree6 Disagree1

Do we think we should buy another experienced keeper or let Siegrist be the next number 1?

Agree7 Disagree0

Watched a few NextGen games & Siegrist is top class!
Has a very bright future & is worth a punt that in 5 years he will be Villa's #1.

Agree5 Disagree0

Why the hell are people writing off shay given? He kept us up last season and just cause he had a few bad games in the euro's you all want him replaced?!

Id be happy to see siegrist move up to number 2 and for him to learn off shay for the next 12 months before we consider making him number 1

Agree8 Disagree0

Dont know why people get on shays back because of the euros. He kept us up for gods sake

Joleon lescott will be offered a three-year deal worth £40000 a week but only if Manchester City accept an offer of £7million

Believable7 Unbelievable6

I am not suprised Norwich turned down a 4M bid for Howson, Lambert with his eye for young hungry talent signed him for Norwich.....Watch this space, Howson will be an England international and woth about 20 million in 3 years time....

Agree3 Disagree10

Lescott & Howson anyone?

Agree9 Disagree1

Lescot is on 80k a week he's gonna take a 50% pay cut is he

Agree10 Disagree1

The villa board will allow 1 or 2 big wage signings if there cut down in other areas

Agree7 Disagree1

By getting rid of Heskey, Cuellar etc they freed up in excess of £12m pa. Lerner could be willing to use this to get some higher paid players to help set a solid base for the others to work around.

Agree5 Disagree0

You wont get howson

Agree5 Disagree3

Heskey was on the wages that Lescott is on including bonuses.
Cuellar was on a huge wage too.
Lescott would be superb! tall & strong with skill & a Villa fan!

Agree6 Disagree1

Maybe if dunne goes we'll get lescott him nd heskeys wages add up to at least 110-120k

Agree2 Disagree0

And btw lescott is a scoring cb we haven't had one since laursen/mellberg

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jun 2012 19:52:52
Word has it that Norwich turned down a bid of£4mil for Howson, Lambert must be bricking it Norwich really are becoming a tough nut to crack, And now we hear Holt having fresh talks with Hughton and Birmingham city now look like loseing Dave Watson to them now, brilliant Goal keeping coach.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Lambert is a big fan of Rhodes and Gunter, he wanted them at Norwich...NCFC FAN

28 jun 2012 22:03:15
someone who works with villa just told me that lambert is after chris gunter for 2.5 mill, jordan rhodes 5 mill and joleon lescott 8 mill. reliable source {ed043's note - we have been linked with these players before this time so it is very possible that this may happen however jordan rhodes has very little experience at such a high level and lescott has just won the premier league so many clubs may be after him so will wold do very well to get these to players to villa park next season}

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Yes ed but Lescott supports Villa & against clubs like Fulham , Villa can offer Rhodes a better contact. {Ed043's Note - that is very true compared to teams like fulham we would be favourites to get hiim on the books however if teams in the europa league or even champions league he could be tempted to go to these teams to continue his england career further}

Agree3 Disagree2

Haha Ed, Rhodes has a full cap for Scotland. Also he said he only ever wanted to play for Scotland. Do some research!! {Ed043's Note -i was talking about lescott wanting to continue his england career but rhodes has made his full soctland cap and is a goal scorer so there is always a good chance that he would be interested in coming to a big club such as villa but there is likely to be other clubs wanting to sign this player}

Agree3 Disagree1

28 Jun 2012 15:32:02
Surprise £5million bid for Liverpool prospect Raheem Sterling. {Ed043's Note - liverpool have very high hopes of this young prospect so it looks very improbable that they would be willing to sell this young talent however a five million bid could raise a few eyebrows around anfield and tempt them in to a sale}

Believable8 Unbelievable9

Not for 5 million I'm afraid lads. He is a real superstar in the making, got a couple of cameos toward the end of last season and is expected to play a more prominent role this season. Honestly I don't think Liverpool would even entertain the idea unless it was at least 10 million. But come back when he's 18 and I'm sure Villa would have an excellent chance of taking him on loan. Hope this helps, just thought i'd give you the point of view from a Liverpool fan.

Lambert is apparently keen to add up and coming Ajax powerhouse Thulani Serero to his ranks, along with Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace.

Believable13 Unbelievable3

As much as I would like to see both of these players in the claret and blue of villa next year i really can't see it happening. Serero is in the 1st year of his contract at Ajax and west ham look likely to sign Zaha

Agree5 Disagree7

Would Zaha prefer a team who has always played in the prem. Or a club that could go back to the championship in their first season. {Ed043's Note - west ham do look likely to sign him at this point however there are other premier league teams in the hunt for this young star so it is likely that if he was to join an established side he would look more to the likes of liverpool}

Agree3 Disagree4

Milner on his way back to Villa loan move initially with option to join perm. in January

Believable12 Unbelievable17

Where did you hear this from? doubt it, but hope its true

Agree12 Disagree4

Do we have to put up with Milner returning rumours every transfer window?

Agree16 Disagree2

Would be amazing but can't see it, he smashed it in centre mid for villa

Agree10 Disagree3

I would not want Milner back. Given the choice between Milner and say junior Hoilet & Fernado Gago, I would always take the later. There is just so much better value out there than Milner {Ed043's Note - this could be potentially true however milner has premier league experience which is vital to push villa onwards but junoir hoillet and gago are great prospects and coulp really improve the squad too}

Agree4 Disagree6

Reports say lambert is ready to move for joey Barton. He believes he can tame the midfielder and would bring some valuable experience and beef to our midfield. Personally think he would be a great addition and weather you like or hate him you have to say he would bring something villa have been lacking the past season or two. Negotiations are on going for El Ahmadi but looks close to done deal. There is also continued interst in Kyle naughton but any deal depends on Tottenham manager and also Osasuna's Senagaleese striker Balde. There is also rumours of interest in Vargas again however a problem surrounding transfer fee fiorentina want £12 million however villa are prepared to pay between 8-9 million. Could see a bid for Lescott aswell apparently does not feature in city's plans ( dont know why? Hes quality!) and is a Villa fan! Things are looking up!

Believable10 Unbelievable16

I think its risky to spend a lot on a striker who has not played in the premiership, surely that kind of money would pick up a decent striker, Defoe maybe?

Lescott would be a good addition we could build a defence around him, I really want Dunne to be sold, he has not looked like he wants to play for us for a long time. Collins too.

Agree12 Disagree2

Getting shot of Hutton was great but Barton would be hell!
he is a calamity waiting to occur!

Agree10 Disagree3

Not shot of Hutton yet! Doubt we will be able to move him on and fear we will be lumbered

Agree7 Disagree0

Barton is a very good player and would have shut Pirlo down for england the other night,. At times he is a loose canon but i think he does recieve a lot of stick when there are bigger w*****s in the game. Barton wins a lot of tackles and is one of the most successful forward passers of the ball in the Premier league. I would be happy for him to come to the Villa and when the crowd watch him regularily they will see how effective he is.

Agree3 Disagree10

Barton is a complete tit, no way never

Agree8 Disagree1

2up. Is that you Barton, talking about yourself?

we all know we have a small squad and surely lambert is going to address this over time well with the current situation at rangers there are 3 stand out players which could add more depth and quality and all being or soon to be free agents its seems a no brainer they are former villain steve davis, allan mcgregor and steven naismith, this on top of the return of makoun and the immanent arrival of Karim El Ahmadi that would be the midfield sorted and then its the defence and another striker to address

Believable8 Unbelievable4

26 Jun 2012 19:11:15
Makoun going to norwich on loan for next season
Probably a sweetner to enable friendly links
to be re-established with norwich

Believable3 Unbelievable30

This could have substance. villa have treated makoun poorly he is unhappy here and wants to move on

Agree5 Disagree8

26 Jun 2012 19:09:07
Heard Lambert might look at Hitzlsperger, who is a free agent, to add experience to the midfield, with Petrov's absence, along with further invigorating the Villa fans. Would like it to be true, as I still rate Hitzlsperger as a player and feel we need more experience in the middle of the pitch, but I doubt it will happen.

Believable10 Unbelievable16

Hitz has gone as flat as a pancake!
Maybe would be a good bench boy but don't see him in the XI personally.
A decent enough free agent all the same!

Agree11 Disagree2

Yeah he isn't of the calibre he once was, but I definitely wouldn't say no. He was good for West Ham just over a season ago.

Agree5 Disagree2

Im sure given the chance to return he would prove doubters wrong. Would be a good stan replacement for next season

Apparently Vargas in talks Peru defender 12 mill

Believable4 Unbelievable14

Sorry mate he's not going anywhere other than liverpool

Agree5 Disagree6

Villa have been linked with Vargas for ages!
Neither Villa or Kop have £12m to buy him really & he isn't really worth it considering other players e.g Tom Ince would cost a lot less.

Agree7 Disagree1

Im sure learner can fork out 12 million. Dont be silly

Agree10 Disagree4

26 Jun 2012 06:58:11
My sources indicate talks went on last night between Cardiff City & Aston Villa over the possible return of Peter Whittingham.
A value close to £3.5m is negotiated.

Believable10 Unbelievable20

We need to make sure we keep jean makoun, he is a quality player!

Agree13 Disagree3

There is no truth in the above whatsoever , Whittingham has 3 years left to run on his Cardiff contract , the transfer fee would need to be double the above quoted figure. Whittingham has recently stated he does not want to leave. Malky Makay has also stated the player is not for sale.

Agree6 Disagree5

Correction 2 years on his contract left.
vital villa have since ran a story on this!

Agree1 Disagree5

7 mill for whittingham? are you a cardiff fan?

Agree6 Disagree0

Why would we sign whittingham carruthers bannan and gardener are much better prospects

Agree9 Disagree3

Whittingham was cr*p last time, don't want him back! Above average championship player but not premier league class no way!

Agree6 Disagree4

Whittingham has pin point crossed & fantastic free kicks.
Bannan is too complex in his passing & Gardner & Carruthers lack experience.
I'd welcome his return but for a rotation basis & less than £4m!

Agree1 Disagree5

Can we not class bannan as a "prospect" he's coming up to 23 its make or break for him

Agree8 Disagree0

Your all forgetting whits is not a winger anymore so he rarely gets to the by line and cross he ball which was his best asset he is simply not good enough to play in the centre in the prem if anyone then get Steve Davis back on a free

Agree3 Disagree0

I think the best outcome would be for Whitts to stay at Cardiff. Then we shall all be happy!

Redbird

Agree6 Disagree0

Ed, Do Villa currently have any staff in the positions that Culverhouse and Karsa would fill, or did they get the sack when McLiesh went.... from a curious NCFC fan. {Ed043's Note - yes there is a number of backroom staff postions that lambert will be looking to fill as keven macdonald left his position as first team and im sure that he would like to bring some familar faces that have helped him get to this stage in his career, so there is a good possibility that he may make a move for his previous backroom staff}

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2012 05:51:59
Ed any news on Culverhouse and Karsa yet??? {Ed015's Note - Very quiet, Norwich CEO said they wanted to keep them as an extended coaching set up and strangely Culverhouse and Karsa did not hand in any resignations with Lambert, this could run and run all the time eating into pre season, maybe compo should be sorted for them so that everyone is happy.}

Believable4 Unbelievable2

You arent getting them, simples!

Agree3 Disagree2

His contract with Norwich runs out on the 30/06/2012.

His is joining after that as not to upset the Norwich fans. I know this for a fact

Agree5 Disagree4

He is on a rolling one year contract at norwich which as you correctly says expires on 30/6/12
However norwich say he will sign a new improved 3year contract next week
He wont be coming to villa ,we have burnt our bridges with norwich

Karim El Ahmadi being strongly linked, some ppl say its a done deal.

Believable14 Unbelievable2

Must be done deal wikipedia has his current club as aston villa apparently he's as good as nigel de jong if not better {Ed015's Note - Wiki does not prove anything, but the signing does look a possibility.}

Agree8 Disagree0

Very good player look on YouTube at the way he ruined Ajax s midfield master class FairPlay

Agree9 Disagree0

Good spot, hope its true

Agree2 Disagree0

El Ahmadi is a decent enough player.
Would cost near to £3m.
Would be a great squad addition & can play right back which makes sense.

Agree2 Disagree0

Wen has he ever played right back. We have enough players to play there anyway. Hutton? Lichaj? Herd?

New Aston Villa Manager Paul Lambert is set his sights on Middlesbrough's Rhys Williams the deal is expected to be the first signing Lambert will make at Aston Villa with many more set to follow, Andreas Weimann or Chris Herd could be heading to Middlesbrough for a season long loan to sweeten the deal for the North East club.

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Why would we allow Herd to go who started most games last season or Weimann who is a very exciting prospect who will be on the bench next season?

Agree6 Disagree0

Heard the rumour about Williams, but as for Weimann and/or Herd going back out on loan I feel isn't going to happen. They both started to get into the first team near the end of the season and they both have talent. One more thing I wouldn't be ver surprised if Lambert only signed two or three players (No major changes). I think that Lambert will aim to get the best out of the players and not change everything quickly.

Agree2 Disagree2

Herd isn't good enough to be starting.

Agree5 Disagree8

Why is it all of these so called, stupid rumours are going up. no one really knows who we are going to sign! people just make up s*** because no ones heard anything. we need to just wait and see and look forward to a new and better season.

A complete overhaul is need at villa

Outs: Warnock, hutton, bannan (loan) carruthers (loan), cuellar, heskey, fonz, gardner (loan), collins

Ins: lakuku (loan) or diame, miroslav klose or grant holt, mellberg!, debuchy, jiracek

Believable2 Unbelievable14

Are you stupid? Lukaku wont come to Villa, Drogba has left Chelsea meaning more of a chance, Diame has signed for West Ham, Both Heskey and Cuellar have been released, and Mellberg would be pointless!

Apparently we're looking at Demba Ba for £7 million maybe with Gabby going the other way. Can't see it happening myself but would love it although would be sad to see Gabby go.

Believable1 Unbelievable13

Ba! as if he would come to villa with better clubs interested

Agree8 Disagree3

First team garenteed at Villa!
Ba has a £3m release cause.
so -£4m & keep Gabby.
So obviously complete BS!

Agree5 Disagree2

Why are most posts sad to see Agbonlahor go ? He has scored 8 goals in his last 58 leagues starts, and has never scored more than 13 in a season. Not good enough. Yes he is villa through and through, but so are we all, but that doesn't make us great players !

Agree10 Disagree2

But unlike milner young barry he would stay 4 life so now we have PL y would we let some1 go who wants 2 stay 4 life or sould we get some1 in who is only going 2 stay 4 a year or so ?

Agree4 Disagree1

Stophating agbonlahor... yes he is villa through and through, like you said. amd would you really get rid of him out of the current squad... he's one of the best players (maybe underperforming atm) thats life in football... get a grip and get over it... UTV! season ticket for the padt 8 years (good times and bad)

Agree9 Disagree0

Season ticket for 8 years ? Whats that got to do with it ? Do you want medal ? I have had a season ticket for 30 years, still doest make gabby a good player !

Agree2 Disagree3

Gabby in form is electric literally.
Lambert now has to do as MON did & get that old Gabby back! or I think it might be the end of Gabby on AVFC right now.

Agree4 Disagree0

Yeah he's forms like a digital signal it's on or off.

Agree2 Disagree1

Let us all wait and see what Lambert can do for Gabby. He is not class, but he is better than a lot of the players being suggested as poss. targets. If Gabby lost some of the weight that he seemed to put on a couple of years ago and get back some of his pace, he just might turn the corner and his form may improve.

Agree2 Disagree0

To all you Gabby lovers/haters, i think i would sit tight if i was trousering his money per week, and be Mr Villa...!

Kyle Naughton will not be joining Aston Villa , Paul Lambert will be looking at other RB options to replace Alan Hutton

Believable8 Unbelievable8

We don't just need a RB, we need a LB and at least 1 top CB. Biggest miss is petrov we have no replacement for him. We lack leadership on the field. Would be great if delph could stay fit cos he is quality player who just needs match sharpness. Interested to see what Holman can do. I would like to see Tom Ince, Fletcher from Wolves, Tompkins from west ham Frimpong from Arsenal.

Agree4 Disagree6

Fletcher from wolves ? oh please do one!

Agree9 Disagree8

Would Makoun not be a like for like with stan? or Delph or even Herd? I'd love to see Huddlestone, Olsen and a decent forward perhaps Bendtner!

Dave80

Agree3 Disagree9

Bendtner? get a grip , hes terrible

Agree13 Disagree2

Delph or herd like for like for stan. I have seen 2 players more dissimilar in their playing style than Delph and Herd, so how could they possibly both be like for like to Petrov. As for Bentdner, I'd rather keep Heskey !!

Agree2 Disagree3

Villa can't afford Naughton

Agree1 Disagree1

We cant afford Naughton. Yet we supposively have a twenty to thirty million pound budget.

New Look Aston Villa..
Out -Gabby,Dunne,Hutton,Warnock,Ireland,Given,Delph, Nzogbia
sales+£20 Mill Kiity more than enough cash for PL to stamp his mark on more than average side

In - Lukaku,Tom Ince,Matt Phillips,Lindergard,Anita,Shawcross,Haidara, Salassi,Martin Olsson

Promote to 1st team - Carruthers (Class)

Believable6 Unbelievable12

Agree with 95%, but would also like to see Nathan Redmond swapped with Fonz, and Lukaku should be a permanent purchase rather than loan, give CFC Given as their backup, plus try to get in Alan Dzagoev this is an investment therefore the supposed £20mill should not be a restriction or a factor and our slaes would also bring in the right level of funding.

Including my suggestions & yours they are all football players rather than players of football, we can then adopt free flowing football but with a bit of grit (Dembelle in the middle would help), with Lindergard we'd have a keeper that can command his box rather than Given one that refuses to come for crosses an average shot stopper (past his best proven in the euros) that's the uncertainty that passes thru our back four & others who loft the ball up field at every opportunity not allowing our players to play but chase the ball and adopt the same nervous attitude when in possession (Lewis Hamilton would not be the same driver If handed a stolen car being chased by the police in streets Mumbai, his instincts would be suppressed) ,

Gabby a great servant to the club but will not elevate the squad past their proven inefficiencies last season (the chips were down and they left the Casino), Bent Overrated, not enough In game contribution, Dunne/Collins/Warnock/Hutton/Albrighton mediocre at best definitely should not be part of the Villa FC in 2012/2013 season and we‘d save on wages, some people say their influence of experience is needed, I say definitely not from players who convey an attitude of desperation on the ball riddled with mistakes and own goals/penalties which infects other players such as Albrighton “should I attack or should I kick it up field before I loose possession & get shouted at by the senior playersâ€. This was masked when other players such as Young/Milner/ & even an average Downing were here as they encouraged that sort of enterprise

Matt Phillips/T Ince are the future get them now embrace/nurture their qualities don’t ruin it by having them play with the old failed guard.

Caruthers is shear Genius and has done his apprenticeship with both Arsenal & Villa this is his time

Agree5 Disagree5

Lets just say - that is suicide! we'd get relegated!
You are WAY off the mark!
Given,Ireland,Gabby & N'Zog aren't leaving!

Agree12 Disagree2

Why don't we just sell everyone then?

Agree4 Disagree0

People should really lay off Albrighton. He's had a bad season but under a defensive manager like McLeish, that can be forgiven. He was class under Houllier and I think that he should be given another chance under PL. UTV

Agree11 Disagree4

That would be suicide, Ireland has got to stay he's our best player!, play him in the pocket behind the striker and Bent will be banging in the goals.Nzogbia will come good this year, Dunne is still a quality defender and Gabby will come good again given the right man management.

Agree7 Disagree2

Like we'd sign lukaku, he cost chelsea 18 mil

Agree5 Disagree3

N'Zog will work well with attacking football, he had to go back into a more defensive role to help out Warnock last season.
Without Given we would have been relegated - Lambert plays rotation & even Holt got rotated for Norwich!
Given might need to fight more for his spot if we get in another keeper.
Though he could inspire Siegrist who is the future #1 in my mind.

Agree6 Disagree0

Lukaku woudnt come to villa Chelsea signed himf or 18mill

Agree2 Disagree3

Totally agree with getting rid of Given,Dunne,Hutton,Warnock,Gabby or Bent,Nzogbia all these players were in the 1st team last season and look where we finished.
To the guy who said we would have been relegated without Given is nuts, Given plus the defence where mostly responsible for the decline + AlexMcduff.
Lindergaard would be a perfect accusation , Carruthers a definite 1st team players and would easily replace nzogbia, Matt Phillips & Tom Ince were made for this club ,Haidara & Salassi not bad, I'd give my season ticket away just so I could buy another one

Agree2 Disagree5

What complete rubbish are we living in cloud cuckoo land

Agree4 Disagree1

Before you get rid of decent players who had a bad season, just wait to see what Lambert can do. At NCFC he got the best out of a Championship squad. Your players are (90% of them anyway) better than NCFC's. Lambert would get your current squad to finish top half, no problem.
It is not his style to have a total clear-out from day 1. He will add steel to the midfield and allow the attacking players to play. Lambert will "add a few to help the current group out" (that is his favourite transfer window phrase...)
He had been looking abroad with Norwich towards the end of the season, so expect a few from Germany and France perhaps. Maybe Snodgrass, Gunter and Naughton too.
Good luck Villa and OTBC!

Milner is coming home!! get in we have a agreed a deal with man city my mate has told me who works at villa park

Believable6 Unbelievable19

Yeah right

Agree15 Disagree1

I wish

Agree13 Disagree3

I heard of a possible £14m bid but would he leave the champions for a "new" Villa? maybe new "team captain"?

Agree7 Disagree5

Thats rubbish he would not come back to us we cant afford his wages

Agree9 Disagree1

We are more likely to get Barry

Agree6 Disagree6

Barry was more of a key player for man city and played a lot more games than milner so out of the two if we were going to get one of them it would more likely be milner

Agree2 Disagree0

Milner is an awful player - his performances in the Euros back this up.

Agree2 Disagree7

What a pathetic post to say milner is awful, he's a top player for city and england

Agree5 Disagree2

Milner has been offered 60 000 a week and the captains arm band and his agent is set to meet up with randy lerner on monday to finalise as milner was caught leavin the hotel on firday with his agent getting in a blacked out car with his agent and paul lamberts agent only speculationn no hypee

this is what i would like to see at villa, sell dunne(too slow) warnock(too many mistakes) hutton(just s**t) ireland(doesnt want to play for us) fonzy(loan, needs game time to progress). bring in shawcross(stoke) naughton(spurs) or clyne(palace) french lb debuchy or anita(ajax) adam(liverpoo) sturridge(chelsea) and a back up keeper like butland from the scum, given not ready to step down. we have a lot of quality due to come through properly now like gardner, carruthers, lichaj, stevens etc. what do you think people?

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Ireland's our best player so no way should we get rid of him. Wouldn't mind shawcross, naughton and sturridge

Agree9 Disagree2

Sorry but you are off your head.
Debuchy? seriously? he'd turned down Newcastle.
Clyne & Naughton - maybe.
Shawcross? he is a dirty tackler - just as bad as any player called alan hutton.

Anita,Naughton,Adam and sturrage but I'd rather Huth to shawcross

Dos santos from hotspurs along with huddlestone, ruddy, hooper, pedro Leon and pogey the one on loan at fulham not sure how true but got told this so thought I'd see what you all think

james milner could be coming back to the villa

Believable8 Unbelievable13

Doubt it but he would be the best signing ever in my opinion, got so much to prove after two years of bench warming, should never have left, best player I've seen since god

Agree11 Disagree4

Not any more.

Agree0 Disagree7

Milner played 26 games in the league alone last season. champions league football next season and he is a regular at the Etihad. No way would he head back to the Villa.

Agree4 Disagree2

Not if he's got any sense he wont

Agree3 Disagree2

Milner is part of a City squad that got them to this level, But the arabs will just keep on spending to take them to a higher level so Milner will be surplus along with the likes of Kolarov, Djeko, De Jong, Barry (next season), Adebayor, Tevez, Johnson. Once the cash point opened at City, a very average middle of the road club could only attract slightly better players at that time (Bridge, Given, Bellamy, Santa Cruz, Boyata), As they began to improve and climbed the League and better players and agents began to hear about the riches available, the next wave came in to take them to the current level (Milner, Johnson, De jong, Djeko) Their problem is getting rid as the wages are so ridiculous that no other club can afford them never mind pay them - very dangerous business model in today's climate. Wish it would all blow up in their smarmy little faces {Ed043's Note - this is very true that man city will be looking to get rid of some players so looking to sign the likes of adam johnson fairly cheaply is possible for a good young player, however all these players like you said are on high wages and after such a cut don in the wages at villa its unlikey to see any big names like adebayor joing villa at the moment}

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2012 00:35:56
papers today say we're linked with Ruddy, i'd take that!

Believable9 Unbelievable6

Believable10 Unbelievable20

I'd take a punt we Paul McGrath when he had a terrible record with injuries and he is arguably our best ever player

Agree14 Disagree2

Is Owen still free? Reports of Stoke yet to be confirmed. He could be useful as a pinch hitter.

Agree8 Disagree5

Believable11 Unbelievable9

Naughton johnson zaha but you can forget all about dann,he just aint good enough ! why would you want such a player who let so much go past him last season ? and as a result get relegated !!

Agree9 Disagree1

Makoun will most likely be back. I'm not convinced about him but he might as well be given a proper go. Ruddy is a lot younger than Given but is he really a better keeper? Dann, no thanks. Naughton and Adam Johnson would be nice.

I hear Walcott maybe targeted? Probs loads of s***t but I'd like to believe it!

Believable6 Unbelievable19

We would never get him

Agree13 Disagree0

Wouldn't want him!! Think he should try athletics, cos he's got bags of pace but 9 times out of 10 he makes the wrong decision with the ball!! Haha (although he made 2 right decisions for England the other day!! ) its ok the next 18 decisions will be wrong!! his quality on the ball is terrible most of the time

Agree7 Disagree2

Walcott is the most overrated player in the leage. can just run very fast in a straight line. scores the odd goal and sets up the odd goal. hes an average player

Agree6 Disagree4

You must be from planet gong if you think Walcott would even contemplate Villa. Get real you villa boys your still third rate.

Agree3 Disagree11

Walcvott would not come to Villa and we already have a road runner in our squad we dont need to mindless sprinters

Agree5 Disagree0

Is he overrated? I don't think so, his fellow colleagues are the best judges for that. We've all seen what he's capable of, his main downfall is lack of consistency, and even that's improved this season, he's improving as he matures, the big stages don't scare him any more. All footballers have bad games, even seasons (take a look at Lennon) but a class player comes back stronger from it, such as both Walcott and Lennon

Agree2 Disagree6

! Clueless, Lennon hasn't played well for about 4 years and can't get in an average England squad! Top player ha and as for Walcott even wenger lost faith in him, can't get a start in a poor arsenal team!! muppet xx

Agree7 Disagree0

True, how can u class Lennon as a top player, had one good season about 5 or 6 years ago an never been close since! Same goes for Walcott, had potential at 16........ Still waitin to see it fulfilled!! Both average

Agree7 Disagree0

Ok :s if Walcott is so average why has he turned an international game on its head and kept us in the euro's. Only class players are capable of that. And while Lennon is not back to his best he's certainly improved his form in the last 2 seasons. Although I'm a villa fan I've got to be realistic, gabby isn't a touch on Walcott at the mo

Agree1 Disagree5

U obviously don't understand football! Haha if u shoot enough times the odd ones gonna fly in! How many times this season has he had stinkers and doesn't even play regular and he played so well he didn't even start the next game! Haha as people have said he's a sprinter who when comes on when everyone else is knackered gets a chance against tired players to use his pace! That doesn't make a good player!

Agree9 Disagree1

Charlie adam pursuit hotting up

Believable12 Unbelievable8

Seriously good signing for the villa providing of course that he gets back to form. Would like to see him paired with Carrig of Man U

Agree4 Disagree11

Is it hotting up? And your source or which paper? I find it doubtful at the moment. I think he'll stay and be given a chance by rogers, personally I can't see Adam wanting to leave. It would be an ok signing. And I'm guessing the above was meant to be carrick, in which case I hope not, never have and never will rate carrick. West ham have had better youngsters come through the ranks since, such as noble.

Agree7 Disagree3

When someone posts Noble is better than Carrick you have to check its not April 1st

Agree7 Disagree3

I agree Carrick is sh*te and has always been vastly overrated hasn't played well since he earned his transfer to manu which is why he's only a fringe player.
As 4 Charlie Adam I believe if he came to us he'd excel as there would be less pressure .
I'd like to see Huddlestone paired with Adam

Agree3 Disagree3

Carrick is massively over rated! No thank you Stephen ireland is miles better

Agree6 Disagree7

Ireland is our best player keep him Mr Lambert please!!

Agree3 Disagree5

Why would we have to sell ireland if we got adams, it would leave a bit of compitition in the middle for a change, get delph and makoun along with what we have and we would be pritty strong in there, and hopefully stan the man

Agree1 Disagree0

Carrick a fringe player? Im a Villa fan and I know full well that Carrick has played a major part for Man Utd since he signed for them. Yes he has had some bad games but you do not play that many games for Alex Ferguson in a successful team if you are not a good footballer. Carrick's ability and calmness on the ball would be a great addition to the Villa midfield.

Agree3 Disagree3

Calmness!! He flaps as soon as someone puts a bit of pressure on him, he's great when he's got a week to make a decision but he's so overrated keep him fergie!

Agree5 Disagree1

All we need now is Collins, Warnock, Dunne and N'zogbia gone and replacements in on lower wages
leaving Villa with only Gaby,Bent and Given on high wages

Yeah why wouldn't anyone want a striker that when fit scores 18 goals a season in a relegated team ?

Agree4 Disagree2

Cos he's never fit and never bothered!! Keep him!!

Agree3 Disagree3

If he was never fit how did he score 15 or so goals last season. If he was fully fit then he'd definetly score at least 60.

Believable16 Unbelievable3

Saw Lambo shopping outside Ricoh arena shopping centre yesterday.
He looks happy as anything!
Hutton looks to be going & N'Zonzi would make my day!

Agree11 Disagree1

Why would villa sign Nzonzi he is total Sh*te and even with the weakened team villa had last season we ran rings round players like him when Blackburn etc came to villa park etc {Ed015's Note - You don't rate him then? lol.}

Agree9 Disagree11

You haven't got a clue! Haha. n'zonzi was a class act for Blackburn and only a young lad. He'd be a massive signing if we could get him, but I wouldn't be surprised if a bigger club came in and signed him {Ed015's Note - Arsenal are interested in him.}

Villa have sealed a deal 4.5 mil for k naughton this is to be followed by a 7mil bid for c Adam,4 mil bid for Dann,3mil c gunter and the free transfers of diame, green and klasnic

I would like to see ince, elm, rodeallga and Douglas be contacted and samba is looking to come back to England

Believable14 Unbelievable6

Hello Mr Faulkner, nice of you to drop into this rumour site. Had you said that you "had heard" I might have believed you. It would be nioce to see this b-l-s-i- happen, but I have my doubts.

Agree9 Disagree0

Naughton's a great young full back who would instantly upgrade us at right back. Great addition if we can secure a deal. T. Ince is a gem of a talent who wasn't given a fair crack at Liverpool cos of big transfer fees on over rated players!! Was blackpools best player with Phillips, and would bring excitement to the club. Also rodalega should be a definite target, a player of his ability on a free is a must!

Agree12 Disagree0

Gunter is not good enough & never will be.
Green won't want to be a #2.
Klasnic is just as good as Weimann.
Diame & N'Zonzi in my mind would be best with Naughton.

Agree9 Disagree2

I don't see logic in getting gunter if we already have lichaj and are supposedly getting naughton also i don't see us getting charlie adam as we are looking at younger hungry players. i personally can see us getting matty phillips, douglas,k naughton, diame and a striker

Agree2 Disagree2

Agree10 Disagree0

Huddlestone is only a fringe player at spurs cant see them stopping letting him move on,

Talk that Vitesse striker Wilfried Bony could be joining up initially on loan with a view towards a permeant move, the Ivorian was previously tracked by Gerard Houllier when he was in the Villa hot seat. Kyle Naughton also remains a a transfer target.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

The only signing lamburk should be trying to make is culverhouse to save his skin, otherwise he's going to be shown up for what he really is. He's nothing without fully and karsa and both of them are now part of Chris Hughtons coaching set up. Funny in a way that Birmingham are having a hand in your downfall. You survived relegation by the skin of your teeth last season, you won't be so lucky this time.

Agree3 Disagree15

Both are part of Hughtons set up ? I thought he took all his back room staff with him from blose...

Agree6 Disagree1

At the press conference to announce Chris Hughtons arrival super David McNally stated that they would be added to Chris Hughtons coaching staff, so Villa will have to buy their success elsewhere.

Mcgeady is so over rated, would prefer young player Tom ince he's got great ability and only a young lad had a good season at Blackpool could probably pick him up for £3-£4 million

Agree12 Disagree3

Agree mate saw Ince and Matty Phillips against blues cracking young players would love to see both down VP

Agree8 Disagree1

McGeady isn't over rated

Agree2 Disagree14

Yes he is!! average in a total waste of time of a league up in Scotland, who bottled any of the big games, hasn't set the world alight in a poor Russian league and u think he's good enough for the premier league!!? no chance, one trick pony, who gets found out as soon as he comes up against a half decent full back!! And £10 million askin price!! joke

Agree12 Disagree0

McGeady isn't all that. Certainly not worth anything close to £10 million. That's stupid money for a player like him.

Lambert is enquiring about charlie adams from liverpool

Believable11 Unbelievable11

I think we could get him on the cheap can't see him featuring much is Rogers plans

Agree9 Disagree2

This could be an interesting shout. Adams has not established himself with LFC and the deperture of Dalgliesh means that a new manager has to make a decision about players already at the club. Adams could be a good aquisition. He is able to put his foot into the tackle and distributes accurately, which is something that no Villa midfielder has acheived for several seasons. Barry was the last and though others have been in the midfield, none have come up with the goods. Charlie Adams, good call.

Agree10 Disagree4

Dear Ian, who should I buy, I am stuffed without you here pulling the strings. Help me, Paul x

And what about michael owen ye nugget?

Agree5 Disagree11

Owen wont move to villa. hes off to stoke because abbey clancy told me so.

Agree7 Disagree9

Tony Pulis here we have a deal in place to bring Michael Owen to the Brittania stadium on a 2yr deal worth 30k a week

Agree10 Disagree9

Owen will be moving to liverpool. purple aki told me so.

davatron.

Where was Abbey at the time of this conversation??? Welcome to the forum Tony Pullis. How many other name droppers are going to join in? Only Owen knows what he is going to do this season, and this would include Clancy et al!!!

Ed. have you heard anything on huddlestone coming to villa or hooper? Think they would be decent signings if they where. {Ed015's Note - With the Spurs situation anything with Huddlestone would be on hold and I have not heard anything concrete about Hooper.}

Villa looking at McClean from Sunderland money and Gabby

Believable6 Unbelievable16

Gabby isn't going! Jeeez!

Agree4 Disagree3

Gabby will go at some point he cant keep under performing and stay at villa just cause hes a villa fan

Agree8 Disagree2

Jimmy mac aint going anywhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, of course he is... In fact, MON's tearing up the contract signed in the latter part of last season and practically giving young McClean away to his mate PL, such is MON's desire to help AVFC... Don't talk daft!

14 Jun 2012 11:34:06
Ed, I have been hearing a lot that Villa are looking at LA Galaxy central defender Omar Gonzalez. I had to look him up but he seems like a great future prospect at (23 years old) and he's won some awards so I'd be happy with him. Just wondered if you had heard anything? {Ed015's Note - Nothing, but Lambert has always shopped local up to now.}

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Wow, winning awards in football in the USA, he must be good!

Outs Collins, Warnock, Hutton

Believable8 Unbelievable7

If only

Agree9 Disagree0

Well Hoilett has signed for Borussia Moenchengladbach so presumably that makes this rumour null and void. {Ed001's Note - no he hasn't.}

Agree4 Disagree2

Now that's more like the rumours we all want to hear

Agree2 Disagree0

Listen, you're not a big club in today's football food chain, you may have had minor success in the decades before skys mega millions, but now in the age of billionaires running clubs you are nothing and any success you achieve will be by others failings and not your success. You now are a club who relys on the bigger clubs slipping up. So in this respect stop suggesting crazy transfer targets. Why do you think Lambert was employed, he knows the lower leagues and that is where he buys from. Wake up time and reality beckons.

Alan Hutton is set to have is contract terminated from the club, the scot doesn't feature in Lambert's plans.

Believable16 Unbelievable15

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

Agree15 Disagree4

Why would we let him go for free (terminating his contract) when we can get a bit of money for him??

Agree18 Disagree1

Who would buy him

Agree14 Disagree2

Thank god!! He's an athlete, but a terrible footballer.

Agree14 Disagree3

I know alan hutton is useless but his still got a £ sign above his head we could get 3-4m easy why cancel his contact and lose money

Agree10 Disagree3

We only signed him for 2! He hasn't exactly put the performances in to double his price tag... Anything for him would be good. Just so we don't have to give him compensation.

Agree5 Disagree4

We would be lucky to get 1 million never mind 3-4

Agree6 Disagree3

As long as he never puts on a villa shirt again we'll all be happy!!

Agree5 Disagree2

Ha we did not pay 2 million for him it was more like 4/5 million

Agree0 Disagree4

It was 3 mil actually

13 Jun 2012 08:49:32
Would like to see Villa trying for Jonas Olsson, especially as the reports indicate Spurs are after him on the cheap. He's a 100% player, committed, a decent defender and has the ability to score goals from set plays (& don't we need one of those !) Just what we need a experienced CB

Believable6 Unbelievable11

He also players for one of our biggest rivals so they wouldn't sell him on the cheap to us

Eljero Elia is apparently being offered to various prem clubs, Villa are in the mix along with the usual suspects Everton, Newcastle, Fulham.

Believable13 Unbelievable4

He would be a top signing, jus what we need a pacy winger with bags of tricks and flair, a player to lift the villa faithful

He's the type of player we desperately need. Would be a great signing

Lambert will move for Lescott of Manchester City.
The villa supporting defender would welcome first team football in a good EPL team especially at his boyhood team.

Believable9 Unbelievable21

Why would Lescott sign for Villa. Champions league to prem. struggle. Use your common sense!

Agree19 Disagree4

Boyhood club, attacking football, new squad, first team football - urgh Villa it is if we throw up the required cash.

Agree4 Disagree9

Ridiculous post, he's at best club in premier and at height of his career, why take a backward step

Villa to sign peter whittingham from Cardiff.

Believable8 Unbelievable17

I've heard this is nailed on...

Agree7 Disagree13

Why would we sign him when he has been at villa before. it's like villa trying to sign downing again. {Ed015's Note - Looked at while Lambert was at Norwich.}

Agree3 Disagree6

I don't want to see him but fear this low class signing is where we pitch our ambition

Agree6 Disagree5

Whittingham is a very good player, Villa fans need to stop wanting to sign players who a) Are crap but have a great sounding Panini name or B) are already playing CL football

Agree9 Disagree4

I don't particularly want Italian sounding names but wouldn't mind an African sounding Munpansmunda, at least they will have strength and pace rather than the powder puff sounding Whttingham

Agree4 Disagree1

Please sign Downing again --LFC supporter.

Villa will re-enter the race to sign Morgan Amalfitano from Marseille, Stephen Ireland may be moved on to allow the transfer. {Ed007's Note - He has asked to leave Marseille because they did not reach the CL, I can't see AV being a great lure to him at present.}

Believable9 Unbelievable2

Money talks!

Yeah money talks, but all our money is going to say is 'take a wage drop'. Lerner won't allow the high wages we would need to bring him to villa

11 Jun 2012 14:04:25
James Collins and Richard Dunne are both set to leave Villa. Collins is set to join Reading for a sum of £3million while Dunne is set to rejoin Martin O'Neill at Sunderland for £2million.

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Lambert should not sell Dunne, the man is pure class

Agree5 Disagree14

Dunne is slow and gets caught out cause he never reads the game, he just trys to react to players attacking him with more pace than he has.

Get rid of both of them and hutton and warnock bring 2 defenders in and play Clark and lichaj at the back maybe even herd

Agree3 Disagree1

Dunne is past it, let him go. Collins was class under MON, throwing himself of every shot and into every tackle, would be interesting if Lambertcould get the best out of him again. Need a strong def with top league experience to partner him, a player of mellberg/laursen ilk would be best. Don't want youngsters with no experience at central def, left/right back poss, but not cent def

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jun 2012 13:59:44
Villa are set to make a £2million bid for Leicester city defender Sean St Ledger, Villa are also set to loan Stephen Ireland to Glasgow Celtic with an option to buy him in January.

Wes Hoolahan is going to be brought in to replace him from Norwich City for a sum of £3million. Also Villa have finally made £5million bid for Grant Holt from Norwich aswell, also Kyle Naughton is on Lambert's radar to bring him from Tottenham.

Another thing to mention Sunderland are set to make a £2million bid for left back Stephen Warnock.

Believable7 Unbelievable9

What about Hutton!?
Collins & Dunne is better than that donkey of Hutton!

Hi Villa fans, sorry if this rumour has been posted already, i've read down your forum quite a bit and not seen it but obviosuly you've had lots to talk about recently so maybe it's further down.
I know that Rob Green has been a Villa target once or twice before and now with Given getting on and maybe moving on, plus the Scammers likely to sign Jaaskelainen, it is very likely this summer he ends up with you.
I can't name who this comes from but it is a player. Good luck with the new manager.

The issue of compensation to norwich will go to tribunal or possibly court.
The crux of the matter who is the bigger club NCFC OR AVFC
if villa are the bigger club we have to pay compo
if norwich are the bigger club we dont have to pay compo
Laughable isnt it
Lamberts contract apparently permitted him to leave for a BIGGER club, but not for SMALLER club
On last seasons league position we wont be paying out
On history we will be paying out
Still laughing
Some crazy old judge to decide who is the bigger club
Norwich fans will love this. I fear it could be decided that they are the big club.
WE WONT HEAR THE LAST OF THIS

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Nonsense

Agree7 Disagree2

We already agreed compo, its around 1 million

Agree3 Disagree2

What a load of crap, the compo will be decided over contract and whether we let Norwich know of our interest in an inappropriate manor.

Agree0 Disagree1

Aston Villa are the fifth most successful club in the premier league according to the 20 years table on sky sports. I cant remember seeing norwich on their.

Just cause we have two bad seasons compared to the three before, does not mean you are a bigger club then us..........

Personally I think leicster are a bigger club then you and look where they have been for ages

Agree4 Disagree2

How on this planet can Villa possibly be the fifth most successful pemiership club over the last 20 years? As usual, you are for ever living in cuckoo land.

Agree0 Disagree7

By fact we mite not have won it but only 4 teams have colleted more prem points then us so we are offically the fifth most successful team in the prem 20 year history

Agree3 Disagree0

How are we 5th most successful? Probably because we have been in the Premier League for the last 20 years since it began.! Enough Said.!

Agree0 Disagree1

Mr cukoo land, you do forget that villa had finished 2nd in the 1st prem year behind man u, also your forgetting we have won cups in 94 and 96 we was in the fa final against chelsea and the league cup final against man u, we are 5th in the prem table over the last 20years cuz we are 1 of only 6 teams in the prem that have spent every year in the prem, so let us know what cukoo land feels like as u sound like you have lived there for about 20years

Agree6 Disagree0

Look for the stastics on sky sports then. Your just a jealous blue nose or norwich supporter

Lambert is eyeing up offers for Matty Phillips & Robert Snodgrass (who he bid twice for when at the Canaries & with 1 year left on his contract could move cut price.)
Phillips can play a variety of attacking roles with his speed & tickery , scoring 18 goals last season for Blackpool.

The papers says Lambert also want Ayala from Norwich & Grant Holt.
There is talk Clark & Baker could form a new defensive partnership with Herd & Lichaj too - which suits the Lambert views of hungry players.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

I fear that norwich won't do any kind of deals with the villa when you can't even pay up on the once agreed comp, hugton to hold talks with all the squad when they return from holiday prior to pre season, he will give holt the contract he wants and has contracts on offer for others

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Jun 2012 20:29:12
Lambert will attempt to bring Rhodes and Rodriguez (althought Rodgriguez looking unlikely now, Dani Pacheco could be a shout). On the wings will be buying Snodgrass and Matt Phillips. At the back I can see Lambert making a move for Kyle Naughton, Chris Gunter and Aidy White. All in all Lambert will make around 6 signings to reshape the team how he wants it. As for coaching staff I cant see Culverhouse and Karsa coming as they seem to be committed to Norwich... I can see however, Alan Thompson coming in as a likely assistant.

Believable5 Unbelievable10

Another bloody day dreamer! Why do people keep saying that Lambert will do this or that? Wait and see, dont get infront of yourself, you just look silly.

Agree11 Disagree3

Only naughton would be a 1st teamer,Rhodes would be a gamble but worth a chance,as for Phillips I'd rather Jarvis

Agree2 Disagree9

Why would lambert look at championship players? you can get better than this for free! these are rumours that he could've had at norwich. we really are looking at players like progrebynyak and diame. and also improving the spine of our team with good signings. not with players that play for saturday teams.

Agree7 Disagree3

Villa play on Saturdays no?

Agree8 Disagree0

Norwich fan here... All those transfers seem pheasable (we know what Lambert is like, he'll bring in young british players, and if he does shop abroad it'll be more likely the german leagues) to help a poor Villa team begin to rebuild, i dont think you can definately aim for a top half finish next year, give yourself maybe 3years before you start to become a top club once again pushing for Europe!

Paul Lambert is looking at bringing Martin Laursen in as part of his coaching staff.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

I would like to see this happen. Someone needs to show our current defenders how to play.

Agree12 Disagree0

Not going to happen martin laursen is managing in 2nd division in norway i think. so can't see him leaving his managers job for a coaching job... give him time and could be the new avfc in few years

It appeared that this guy had no interest in AV, and was being paid a lot of money. I actually sat with his agent on a flight to Spain some years ago and he let out a few "facts." Even allowing for some elaboration in the facts he indicated that he was on 75K! for nothing.

Agree6 Disagree4

No one at villa is on 75 k so bulls**t , the wage cap is 65k

Agree3 Disagree4

I did say that allowing for elaboration that he was on 75K. Please read carefully before making your carping comments. The fact that my posting is 100% accurate and as you were not present makes you look like a total d--k h--d.

Paul Lambert is apparently looking at 'Coke' from La Liga outfit Sevilla, Steven N'Zonzi of Blackburn is a possibility if Mohamed Diame cant be persuaded to join on a bosman (looks Liverpool bound) Nathan Clyne is another name being talked about.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Pepsi and shirley would be a better choice
Villa are a joke all fizz and no sparkle

Agree6 Disagree9

It's koke not coke

Agree3 Disagree3

Must be a blues fan

Agree4 Disagree2

I quite liked Pepsi & Shirley. If both were available, sadly one is not, then the dressing room would be something to witness. As for all fizz and no sparkle you would have been correct last season, but another season is around the corner and we all wait to see if the corks pop during the season.

Agree3 Disagree2

Coke and Koke are 2 different players, Coke of Sevilla (who we're supposedly after?) is a defender where 'Koke' is an old striker playing for some Azerbaijan team? - unfortunately it would be more likely we're after this one

Agree1 Disagree1

Actually Koke is a 19 year old midfielder for Athletico Madrid

Agree1 Disagree0

Its really refreshing to know exactly what Lambert is doing from day to day looking at new players to bring in and where from, Villa fans are in for a short sharp shock,he never lets anyone other than the CEO know what he wants so all this is nothing more than wishful thinking.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2012 20:07:19
Aston villa will sign Robert snodgrass and grant Holt for sure. Williams and Bennett from Boro are under consideration as is Ryan Bennett at Norwich.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Well i thought he was slightly light weight and off the pace, as much as i wanted him too he never impressed me

Agree2 Disagree2

I don't want Holt.
Weimann will become as good as Bent in a season or two.

Agree7 Disagree4

You'll get nothing and no one from Norwich, dream on

Agree3 Disagree6

We dont want anyone else from Norwich we got the best man already from your pisspot club lol

Agree4 Disagree5

That's funny cause last time I looked we already took ur manager & we will take whatever else we want from u cause Norwich r a smaller club!

Agree4 Disagree5

Only your ex-manager and his backroom staff

Agree0 Disagree0

Except your manager lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you the guy that said Lambert would never leave Norwich? Seems like you got that wrong, and you just might get your last statement wrong. Open your eyes to the big world, there is no loyalty in football, if holt wants to leave, he will leave and this goes for any other player.

Agree2 Disagree0

Norwich said we wouldnt get lambert i they should stop talking sh*t really as if we want holt we'll get him

Agree1 Disagree1

Lambert tends to avoid imports, prefers British, under 25 with something to prove. Expect a couple of loans from top 6 clubs fringe players, a couple from the championship and one or two from the bottom third of the prem

Agree0 Disagree0

We paid more than 3 million for Ryan Bennett so you would have to offer more than double that to get us to consider. Unfortunately for you, you don't have enough money as this would blow nearly half of your budget

Agree1 Disagree1

Why would warnock sell their best player if they want to get promoted?

Agree1 Disagree1

So he doesn't leave for nothing next year maybe,.........

Agree1 Disagree0

Something you don't know about Norwich city, we have a CEO that has stated Holt is not for sale he is on 2 years left on his contract, McNally will put him in the reserves for 2 years and not allow him in for training untill the first team has gone home, yes anything other than to let you have him, Norwich have made him what he is Norwich won't sell him to you for £50mill

Agree0 Disagree1

Biggest problem for Villa is backroom team. Lambert's success was built around them. Culverhouse is a 9 season Norwich City man - and is likely more loyal to Norwich. Culverhouse (less so Lambert) was the key man, he led the training sessions which the Norwich players loved, he drove tactics and he was even more vocal than Lambert on the touchline. Norwich are holding out for compensation for him as they know Lambert wants him badly. However Culverhouse was upset by the way Lambert stormed out and is far from certain to re-join him. Indeed Norwich want to keep him. Lambert has said he is 'nothing' without Culverhouse. Lambert moved in haste, unless he can land Culverhouse then he won't enjoy the success he has. Moreover McNally was more influential than Lambert in chosing transfer targets working within the very well developed scouting network City have. Good luck to Villa but Culverhouse is the biggest signing you need next, forget 31 year old Holt, the former (along with Lambert and a £20m budget) is the key to your next 2-3 years.

Hope rumours are true that villa and Liverpool are in for diame and villa are looking to sign pogrebnyak after talks with fulham broke down.
Bit gutted about diame cause I think he will chose liver pool if it was a clear choice although I think he would get more game time with us

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Just read tese on sky soprts news

Agree2 Disagree3

I want to see Makoun & Carruthers in a central midfield partnership.
Diame is good but can we get him in?

Agree8 Disagree1

Ive seen Makoun and Carruthers play, not bad but wont improve us

Agree4 Disagree6

I don't get the big fuss about Diame. He couldn't even get in the Wigan team last season, and he has heart problems he would be a huge risk.

Agree4 Disagree3

Are we really sure about Makoun? Never seemed to do too much. Is he good enough for the prem?

Agree3 Disagree5

I didn't see anything wrong with makoun apart from the rest of the team couldn't keep up with his quick one touch passes he is what we need for quick attacking play not how we were under ginger t**t taking our time thinking about what to do and giving the other team time to work out what we were going to do and take possesion!

Agree7 Disagree0

Makoun can be a force in the Premier League. He has great vision and can pass a good ball. Can never understand why the ginger one loaned Makoun out and then loaned Jenas from Spurs.

People who are saying agbonlahor will leave are mad! he said last year its his boyhood club and wants to end his career at the villa,

Believable12 Unbelievable8

Let's hope he goes and we sign Jordan Rhodes so we can actually score goals

Agree6 Disagree11

It does not mean Villa want to keep him. I know for a fact that he is lazy in training, has a bad attitude and only played the last game of the season so he does not have to report back to pre season early with the other injured players.

Agree7 Disagree9

If ur a villa fan then u no so is gabby so y do i keep reading that people think his going ? Mr bent would not even play the last 2 games of the season he told villa no when we gave him and sos its him that should go not gabby lets sell bent for about 18m that will give us 45m to spend if we get holt we still have 40m

Agree3 Disagree9

Your clearly clueless Bent was injured that's why he never played and that's why he's not in Poland Gabby is dire and deserves the boot

Agree10 Disagree4

Seems to me most of you villa fans are clueless

Agree4 Disagree8

Gabby was totally disillusioned with the team selection last season. To be critical, yes , he does appear lazy and seems to want to do just what he wants. I am not sure that he is a 110% team player but after losing Young and Downing what player would be happy. I dont think that Lambert will allow this situation to carry on, and if he sees no improvement comes in his attitude, Gabby may well beallowed to move elsewhere.

Agree8 Disagree2

Bent prefered to not play as he felt he wasnt ready and there was still an outside chance he was going to the Euro's.

Gabby can go in my opinion, I know a lot of fans wouldnt like it, but I feel he is over-rated and I think we could get around £8million for him.

Agree8 Disagree1

Mon can get the best out of him

Agree2 Disagree2

Lambert manages like MON.
Give Lambert time with Gabby & he'll be the best around again!

Agree3 Disagree2

18 Million for Bent....maybe 2 years ago. He has hardly had the season to make teams pay that sort of money.

Agree0 Disagree2

£18.50 IS ABOUT RIGHT

Agree0 Disagree1

Funnily enough and it has been said: he was infact injured, so saying he didnt have the season is false, he still scored 10 goals and was out for most of the important end of the campaign.

Apparently Aston Villa have made an enquiry to Man city over adam johnson. right now its all a rumour but still watch this space

Believable19 Unbelievable10

Unless Lerner has been in deep contact with Lambert prior to announcing him, then nobody knows who is to be looked at with any certainty. I think that he would give Villa a better supply to the front runners and provide the odd shot that was lacking all of last season.

Agree8 Disagree3

I Think we will get about 3 free signings 1 big player 8-12m and 2 5m players

Agree9 Disagree4

Liverpool apparently already bid £16m.
So I'd say try get Matty Phillips & Tom Ince. (much cheaper & a lot more worthy!)

Agree10 Disagree4

Lambert said he's looking at several new faces, grant holt looks to be one of them

Grant holt will become villas new striker to partner bent upfront by next week and gabby will go to sunderland to build up funds

Believable5 Unbelievable17

Not sure about this. grant holt is around 30 and we need a young striker so we can bulid on the future. alos i don't think we will sell gabby as in a interview a couple of months ago he described himself as mr aston villa. he said that he's like gerrard at liverpool.

Agree8 Disagree2

We need a young striker, we have Weimann and Delfouneso who are 20 and 21. Surely that is the future?

Agree6 Disagree8

Villa have young strikers Weiman burke and deflounso
Villa will sell gabby for holt and bring in jay Rodregous
Dunne will go sunderland
Collins to Swansea
And 2 new cb's in and clark will make an impact either at cb or cm

Agree3 Disagree8

Agbonlahor is the heart & soul of AVFC.
Selling him is a HUGE mistake!
He has pace! playing attacking football does suit him!

Agree7 Disagree6

Weimann is a very good player. but do you think that sh** delfouneso is aston villas future? id rather have heskey, at least he scored a goal!

I think you'll find that Lambert will not just bring Holt along because he performed at Norwich. He's 31, and while he did a good job for Norwich he may cost more than he is worth in years service he'll provide. I think you'll find Lambert will expect to be able to attract bigger names now that he's at Villa. I think you might see something with Rodgers/Sigurdsson/Liverpool. Sigurdsson may want to go there, but Rodgers may feel he can get a similar player of higher quality now that he has a bigger club to attract them. Gabby won't go anywhere... there will always be a place for him at Villa, and let's hope Lambert can bring the best out of him again... as opposed to Houllier and McLeish.

Agree6 Disagree1

Villa have been trying to off load gabby for two years

Agree2 Disagree8

All this talk of gabby going is a joke whoever is saying this no's nothink about football because he is avfc 4 life

Agree7 Disagree1

Holt £30 million mate? your having a laugh! he's worth at max £10 million

Agree3 Disagree3

Holt's worth 5m max lol

Agree4 Disagree1

Holt 10 milllion! 6 million tops he's 30+ nd he's only had one good season in the prem.

Agree5 Disagree0

Holt's worth 3 million max at his age with one good season behind him.

Agree2 Disagree0

Holt is a donkey.
Got lucky last year.

Agree3 Disagree2

Good luck with Lambert, you will need it, he will get found out without Culverhouse and Karsa , Cully is the brains behind it all and he's contacted to City and wants to work with Hughton who he knows well from his Spurs days. Good try but unlucky!!

Villa are set to sign Fraser Forster from Newcastle United for £2million, they will also will bid £8million for Adam Johnson from Man City and Kyle Naughton from Tottenham for £5million.

Believable12 Unbelievable9

Oh i hope adam johnson comes to villa

Agree15 Disagree2

Where did you get this from? The daily bull s***! city won't sell johnson, forster will go to celtic and swansea or liverpool will sign naughton.

Agree7 Disagree10

All solid buys although paper talk had Liverpool wanting Johnson for 13m or close but Naughton and Fraser both have history with lambert.

Agree6 Disagree1

3 cracking players cant see any of them being signed though

Agree3 Disagree8

Stay positive people , the negativity left with mcleish

Agree12 Disagree1

Well Adam Johnson is moving from City this season with Newcastle and villa interested

Agree7 Disagree0

Adam johnson will pick newcastle over villa becuse he's not very clever

Agree4 Disagree4

Get milner and johnson one o loan one perminent

Agree1 Disagree1

I think we could get Adam Johnson that is a real possibility but Forster is going to Celtic (Almost certain but don't hold me to this). As for naughton i'm really not too sure I wouldn't be too suprised if we got him but I'm not sure. {Ed007's Note - The £2 million fee for Forster is only applicable to Celtic, NUFC could ask other clubs for more plus the buying club needs to buy Celtic's option on the player.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Milner has a box at the Villa that his family use who still live in the Midlands, his return is always a possibility.

Agree0 Disagree1

Your living in the past thinking milner will come back. We would never afford his wages now and he is still playing 25 games a season at city and is there or there abouts on the england starting eleven?! Why would he leave the champions?! Unless they brought in 2 or 3 more midfielders when they have said they will not spend money this year like they have done in the past.

Agree1 Disagree0

Milners too good for you, why would he step down in class? Ask yourself that.

aston villa will sign hugo rodallega from wigan for free. he will be the sttrike partner for bent. remember this post everyone

Believable14 Unbelievable6

Hope this is true , would be a great signing

Agree7 Disagree3

Oh how I wish I had your belief. This could be a dream come true. Roddy would be a great asset but I think as a free agent Villa will be a way down the list of contenders.

Agree6 Disagree2

Rod would probably like to play for Villa.
Good high wages & a strong expectation level with a fantastic strike partner (Bent) but he'd have to battle Gabby & Weimann (who i believe will strive next season!)

Agree3 Disagree0

Rodellaga would score what 5-9 goals
where as Holt would net 10-15 goals which do fans prefer MMMM i know which one i pick and its holt who will probably be only on 20-25k a week but would want a 3 year contract

Early talk of Lambert wanting to draft in Jay Rodriguez and Radja Nainggolan from Burnley and Cagliari

Believable13 Unbelievable3

Nainggolan is way too expensive

Agree9 Disagree5

Paul lambert was chasing Brightons player of the year, midfielder Liam Bridcutt when at Norwich. He is to pursue his interest in him for Villa but will have to pay 2.5million for his services. There are thought to be three other clubs after the former Chelsea player.

Agree6 Disagree3

By the time Villa finish in the courts after fighting the Compensation fee to Norwich the transfer kitty will be gone

Agree0 Disagree1

Rodriguez gone to Soton....unlucky lol

VillaTalk who have personnel links within Villa Park are apparently stating Lerner is to meet with QIA over an investment into Villa.

Believable17 Unbelievable16

Never going to happen

VT are just a bunch of know nothings hoping that we becom Man City or Chel$ea

Agree19 Disagree1

Thats why we appointed lambert... Nothing against him glad we got him.. But do u think someone investing hundreds of mil like psg chelsea and citeh have done would sanction him as a manager it would of been capello or someone similar

Agree9 Disagree6

A young up and coming manager who is respected in England, Scotland and Germany. I think (not that i am saying i believe a take over is happening) a new potential owner would be happy with such a manager

Agree5 Disagree7

Seriously you are reading a thread that was posted in february. Time us villans forgot about qatari investment and concentrate on giving Lambo and the board a chance to fix the holes in the sinking ship. you are deluded if you believe villa will get this sort of investment. if you ask me we dont need it just look at Newcastle for the evidence and previous seasons under MON we were there we just needed to get over the line but ran out of steam due to fitness and playing the same 11 week in week out. a bit of strength in depth and good management will be enough.

Agree11 Disagree1

I agree with above, if we had bent under mon then we would be top 4 and he would still be there but instead mon opted for heskey and now we have Paul "god" lambert, don't doubt him get behind him and let's see the mighty lion roar again this season

Agree6 Disagree1

It said nothing about Q.I.A. If you had read it properly it shows a person called 'Richard' who in the past has been very good with a source in the past, has had it told to him that there could be some investment. Not saying whether someone from the outside is putting some money in, or Randys giving it another go. The reason its causing somewhat of a stir is that Richard is usually negative, (well not neccesarily negative, more realist) and he's suddenly become very positive. Its on the thread about lambert joining if you don't believe me, but you will need to do a bit of digging into it. Tell me this though, would Lambert of come without assurances over a decent budget? He is highly ambitious, think about it.

Agree3 Disagree1

Newcastle were everyones pick to get relegated last season and look how they flourished with a few shrewd signings.

Villa just need to get rid of the deadwood and bring some fresh faces in under a new era while Lambert is manager. Arsenal have some players for sale im sure Bendtner, Denilson etc they could deffo do a job for the Villa.

Agree4 Disagree9

Denilson was a decent player and is still quite young, but i think he will stay in Brazil. Bender on the other hand is Heskey 2.0

Aston Villa have officially announced Paul Lambert as the new manager. Happy. I think he'll do well and hopefully revive our squad. We need more players obviously (would like Anthony Pilkington), so lets hope Lerner splashes the cash.
And finally, good luck to Paul ( you can't do worse than Mcleish)

Believable10 Unbelievable7

No chance he is on gardening leave now,no comp agreed

Agree0 Disagree17

Lambert.
Championship manager.
Culverhouse was the key man at norwich
You picked the wrong one
When will u lerner

Villa are getting Lambert for FREE with no clauses,
Due to Lamberts 12 month rolling contract which he renews each year, Which Norwich breached as Lambert has a clause written into his contract that if a premier league club wish to speak to him he's allowed to so as Norwich refused to let him speak to Villa the contract is now void and if Lambert wants a player from them they have nothing to stop Lambert signing any of them.

Believable13 Unbelievable12

If a players under contract we can refuse you

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you going to sign all our players so you can finish 12 ? i

Agree0 Disagree0

You might get the traitor cheaply but you wont be getting Culverhouse and Karsa the same way

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jun 2012 16:36:48
Stephen Naismith has become available for 2million due to administrators duff & Phelps activating a clause in his contract. If Lambert was to join us I'd expect naismith to be one of his targets. {Ed007's Note - Everton have supposedly got a deal for Naismith in place.}

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Naismith will join he was a target of the last manager i'm starting to think the board like scottish managers and Lambert's only getting 20m to spend and we all know with the amount of players weve lost we need to spend 30-40m to get in enough players to sustain a good cup run and challenge for european football again.

Hopefully he'll sell Warnock, collins, Dunne, N'Zogbia, Ireland and Hutton and bring in some quality youngsters along with someone like Joey Barton/ James Milner as we need a presence in Midfield which we lack at the min as the defence just get pummelled when we lose position and granted the Youngsters we have in defence could do a better job.
And hopefully Makoun gets a fair crack as with his CL experience we should try and keep him.

Agree5 Disagree11

Ireland & N'Zog? Go away! they are the heart of Villa now!
I'd rather support Blues than let Barton enter Villa Park.

Agree11 Disagree1

Did i really just read that someone hopes we get Joey Barton. The mind boggles!

Agree6 Disagree6

JOEY "LIABILTY" BARTON, are you actully serious?

Agree7 Disagree4

He is banned for a third of the season, what's the point?

Agree6 Disagree3

I didn't say i hope we sign Joey barton i said someone like him or Milner as we need someone with presence in midfield which we lack
NO Petrov
Ireland is inconsistant
N'Zogbia isn't fit to wear the shirt I'd rather play Albrighton,Bannan,Agbonlahor or Holman as he has no flare when expected to produce the performance's which Young and Downing did

Agree5 Disagree5

No one will want your over rated players and nor will lambert, ireland is on 75k a week for being a bench warmer and no clubs will want to buy him or N'zogbia, Dunne, Collins, because they are crap and on high wages. In doing this your club will lose money increase debt and find it hard to bring in players like Grant Holt because he's on a different scale to ireland and will want more money than him. As for Lambert good luck, but the grass isn't always greaner on the other side.

Agree6 Disagree7

Didn't that 'bench warmer' play nearly every game last season?

Agree5 Disagree4

Lets be honest Villa need a creative midfielder to play alongside Makoun? as the holding midfielder giving the likes of Albrighton Ireland, Bannan, Holman, Herd to attack.
We also need a decent 2nd striker
also a replacement for Hutton,Collins and Dunne

Agree1 Disagree1

Makoun is awesome. We never gave him a chance. I just hope he comes back from his injury.

Agree2 Disagree1

Even if Villa were interested in Barton,
1: He is banned for nearly 1/3 of the season
2: His wages are high supposedly over 75k, Now i'm sure we could afford that but I think it would be invested more wisely

Agree0 Disagree1

If any of you had any sense at all, you would support the blueboys anyway

Agree1 Disagree3

Aston Villa to bid for Jay Rodriguez if Paul Lambert is appointed manager as expecetd. He is a huge fan of J Rod and wants him at Villa Park. Expect bids for Grant Holt as well!

Believable8 Unbelievable6

IT'S AMAZING the blues fans have gone quiet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Villa on the march again.

Agree12 Disagree5

Norwich are writing a clause into Lambert's payoff that Villa can't sign there players

Agree2 Disagree7

^ No that is without compensation.

Agree1 Disagree1

Were getting lambert for free Norwich breached his contract by refusing Villa permission to talk to him thats why he quit after legal advice

Agree2 Disagree2

On the march to where old pal, relegation?
