Mcleish apparently failed in a deadline day swoop for Steve Gohouri of Wigan.

Believable2 Unbelievable9

No he didn't

Agree7 Disagree2

No money no worries :/

Agree4 Disagree4

Alex McLeish wouldnt know a footballer from a rugby player. In my opinion Villa will be involved in the struggle to avoid relegation.

Agree10 Disagree5

I think we could be swapping places with the Blues. After all Blues are playing much better football.

Agree7 Disagree6

Well i think blues would be fighting relegation if AM was there manager hougton playing attractive football with rejects,no disrespect

Agree7 Disagree3

Their football isnt that attractive.. And dont forget their in the Championship..

Agree1 Disagree1

McLeish has failed since he arrived at Villa Park ,why does he not just f*** off

the deal will go through in the summer with aston villa having to pay 3.5 million to complete.
samba will join spurs. this will trigger dann to put in transfer request.
flamini will come in with view to purchase in summer.

I have heard from a very reliable source that Allbrighton is going to Sunderland either in the next couple of days or probably at the end of the season. {Ed001's Note - er no, why would he? He couldn't get a game until O'Neill left.}

Believable7 Unbelievable13

MON made Allbrighton into a very good footballer. He matured after MON left. That's why he made the first team, but MON must take a lot of credit for the lads career and now he is sitting on the bench on a regular basis he is unsettled and feels he would start progressing again with MON's guidance.
This move will happen at some time. {Ed001's Note - MON has nothing to do with the youth academy, so how can he take any credit for his career? Perhaps you should do some research, the man who can take the credit is the man who was put in charge after MON threw his toys out of his pram and left the club in the lurch.}

Agree8 Disagree7

Let him go. if he wants to back with oneill so be it. nzogbia is a better winger and more expereinced.

Agree4 Disagree12

This is a load of rubbish, MON had absolutely nothing to do with Youth Development, Kevin Macdonald and Sid Cowans are responsible. Hionestly where do people get these rumours from

Agree11 Disagree5

Sounds like a wishful thinking sunderland fan if you ask me

Agree9 Disagree4

Martin o'neill and allbrighton are very close, I know because a club insider has told me on a number of occasions, but i dontg think he will be allowed to leave villa not for a while anyway. personally i would rather see them both reunited at the villa.

Agree3 Disagree8

It was houllier who gave albrighton his chance. utter rubbish.
he is happy at villa

Agree10 Disagree1

Albrighton is Villa through & through.
You really have to realise that Villa are much bigger than Sunderland.

Agree8 Disagree5

If given the chance to go to sunderland he will go. But with the lad Mclean coming on he might not a priority for the MON Oh how you villans bite!

Agree4 Disagree7

Seriously Sunderland fans get used to signings like Kevin Davies lol

Agree6 Disagree6

Considering he was one of the players, along with curtis davies and bannan, who came out and said they was happy he went because that would mean they would get more of a chance in the first team. O'neill would never change his starting 11 and would never make subs. As soon as he finds his golden boys at sunderland he will never change them. And he'll be paying them thousands in bonuses everytime they have a good game. Sure it will bring you a couple of good seasons. But wait until niall cant afford to borrow sunderland any money and has to sell mclean.. oneill will be long gone. And youll be left with Kevin Davies on 60k a week. {Ed001's Note - I am trying to figure out how McLean (who is a left winger) would in anyway affect the signing of Albrighton (who is a right winger)? Not that it will happen, but why would it matter how fantastic or poor McLean is?}

Agree6 Disagree4

I wasnt linking albrighton and mclean. I think McLean will develop into a top player and as you would expect a bigger club will come in and sunderland will sell. O'neill will then lose his rag and walk out.

Also, the days are long gone where a winger can only play on one side. So if i was linking mclean and albrighton it wouldnt make a difference. A winger is a winger.

Agree4 Disagree3

Who do you villa fans think you are?wolves and birmingham are bigger clubs in the midlands than your lot!

Agree4 Disagree9

Oh yeah and that is why Villa finished 6th - 3 years running, ey?
Who has won the Prem,Champions league,a bigger stadium, better facilities?
Oh yeah - The Mighty Villa!

Agree7 Disagree3

What a plank you are!! BCFC & WW if put together would still not be the equivelent of AVFC. Why are you even on the Villa site?

Agree6 Disagree3

Ye by the way it was Kevin McDonald that have albrighton a rum in the first team. N he wont be leaving cus he is part of the new Youth plan for the financial fair play system coming in next year.

Agree5 Disagree2

I didn't realise that villa fans were so miserable with no sense of humour. Listening to you lot is like watching you play these days-boring.when bent leaves you lot will struggle. Up the blues, changing places wiyh the villa.

Agree5 Disagree2

I have to agree with the comments above. The blues are onwards and upwards while the Villa slide slowly downwards. At the end of the season Villa will belucky to be getting gates of 25,000and no Iam not a blues fan.

Agree3 Disagree2

As a villa fan i wouldnt waste my time looking on the bcfc page, so bluenose why do you have so much time on your hands to come and look at the mighty villa's page? Looser... go back to small heath...

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is exploring the possibility of a loan deal for Malaga striker José Salomón Rondon.

The exciting 22-year-old Venezuela international has a record of a goal every three games for his club.

His powerful performancs have caught the eye of Mcleish as he wants to replace Heskey

Believable9 Unbelievable6

A goal ratio of 1 in 3 BRILLIANT watch McLeish knock that back to 0 in 3

i hear that ruud van nostrilboy is joining us,apparently his family hates spain, and the club is defo being taken over by qatarians,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,cmon u villa,ps lerner take big eck with u with u go

Believable10 Unbelievable16

I am starting to like eck.. sorry but i am!
lerner is doing a good job too!

so , leave off them!

Agree9 Disagree13

Qatarians? are they the furry ones from the Planet Endor?

Agree5 Disagree5

And where have you apparently heard this?

Agree7 Disagree1

I see big ecks mom has left a message

Agree13 Disagree2

If AM plays the best he got!! gary gardner must play, please dont play hutton .arsene wenger play his young players Jack Wilshere for one the list is endless i to could like,ENTERTAIMENTnot dull

Agree5 Disagree3

Totally agree about Hutton, as good as a rocking horse in the national

Agree7 Disagree3

My feelings toward Hutton are changing, he put a couple of good balls into the box at Wolves and his positioning seemed better. I heard the keane deal was more about breaking up cliques in the dressing room than anything else, it is a cause of concern for AM. Deadline day is going to see a lot of wheeling and dealing from the Villa. Samba bid rejected 3 weeks ago

Agree3 Disagree4

I doubt Van Nistelroy will leave his massive wages at rich Malaga to join us where he would be paid in chocolate buttons.

with delfouneso and delph going out on loan, rumoured to be signing Pineaar from spurs. Hope its true!

Believable7 Unbelievable12

Harry Rucksack at Spurs has already said he's not letting Stephanie Pinafore go out on loan

30 year old Danijel Pranjic has emerged as a surprise target, Villa are also apparently keeping tabs on Wolfsburg's Makoto Hasebe.

heskey is going to be offered a 1 year rolling contract within the next 2 months

Believable9 Unbelievable23

Heskey is leaving this Summer to re-join Leicester along with Collins and maybe Petrov as well as another as Villa have already leaked it through the media that 4 players will be leaving in the summer

Agree7 Disagree8

Hopefully Heskey clears off that's all I care about.

Agree18 Disagree1

I read that 4 players will be leaving in the summer. And they are Heskey, Collins, Beye and Cuellar. That should knock the wage budget down by 150-170k a week.

Agree8 Disagree4

Villa have a tag on their wages, none of our players are payed more than 80k a week u plum up the villa!

Agree1 Disagree1

I never said any of them were paid 80k you tool, Heskey is rumoured to be on 60k, Cuellar on about 40k, Beye on about 40k and Collins on about 40k, as i say these are rumoured amounts!

Agree3 Disagree1

22 Jan 2012 05:07:26
A rumor starting to gain momentum is that Villa owner Randy Learner is enquiring about taking over one of the top teams in the Japanese Baseball league (Hanshin Tigers) - adding speculation that he may be preparing to sell-up... Qatar Petroleum anyone?

Believable12 Unbelievable9

Lerner to sell up? of course! I sent this in some months ago. He has little or no interest in Villa any more. Villa are merely a plaything to raise his personal profile. the quicker we get someone that wants to invest the better, because if Villa go down they will not get back very quickly. Some months back lerner stated that he wanted to change the way players were paid. Wanted more performance related pay as opposed to a wage for turning up and warming the bench. Praise the man for this attempt, but realise that as he failed he now wants out.

Agree8 Disagree3

Why doesn't Lerner just sell the club, he doesn't care enough to invest in it. It's just a little hobby to say he owns a football club. Let someone who actually wants to invest come in.

Agree5 Disagree2

I'm sorry but saying he doesn't care is wrong. He's spent a lot of money while he's been in charge of the club but MON wasted it and now the club is having to reign in it's spending.
I agree it's frustrating at the moment but anybody who thinks Lerner is tight is only seeing half of the picture.
One thing i do agree with though is that he doesn't seem as interested as he used to which is a shame, he very rarely attends games anymore.
I would be very happy if new investors could be found because Lerner doesn't have the wealth to make us great again.

Agree4 Disagree2

O'Neil wasted it? Young/Downing/Milner/Dunne/Cuellar all performed and shone for the Villa and were all purchased by O'Neil.

It is absolutely no surprise that the players left after MON left as they knew we had no chance of challenging the top 4 without MON at the helm.

I wish this site could limit input to real fans who watch us week in week out!!

Agree4 Disagree2

For every decent signing that you mentioned there were 2 awful signings!

Sidwell, Davies, Zat Knight, Maloney, Harewood, Sidwell, Shorey and Heskey....Should i go on??

Agree1 Disagree0

The Sidwell twins were poor signings - what was the lesser known one called again?

Agree1 Disagree0

My bad!

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from Davies none of the other 'awful' signings mentioned were purchased ofr more then 5m whereas all the 'decent' signings were made for more then that figure. Are you really trying to say that every manager ever has made 'decent' signings on every occasion? Don't make me laugh.

And to only label them as 'decent' signings is ridiculous! Yet another Villa fan holdng a grudge against MON because he resigned from our great club!

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2012 04:42:13
Roger Johnson of Wolves may be one of the first to jump ship with Villa being a likely yet controversial destination, if this happens don't be surprised to see Scott Dann make the move also (at least not till next season though)

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Roger Johnson and Scott Dann. Give me a break. The didnt do sod all for the blue noses and didnt exactly provide a solid defence did they. Sums our once glorious club up - happy to look for the useless scraps from other peoples tables.

Agree0 Disagree5

If Scott Dann hadn't got injured last season then Blues would still be in the Premier League now. It's only cause he was injured for several months that they got relegated!

Agree3 Disagree1

The blue noses didn't get relegated be wise they were missing one proxy overrated defender. They got relegated because of the negative useless tactics of their manager. Thank we dont have one like that........... Hold on a minute!!

Agree0 Disagree2

Scott Dann getting injured completely unsettled the blues defence which in turn saw them relegated.

Agree2 Disagree1

Utter c**p. They went down because of their negative tactics played by their useless manager, who we are now lumbered with. Worst football I have ever seen at Villa park. Scott Dann is a joke and shouldnt even be considered for our team.

Agree1 Disagree3

22 Jan 2012 04:36:27

Believable4 Unbelievable3

22 Jan 2012 04:22:05
Apparently Villa tried to get Lukaku on loan from Chelsea before the Robbie Keane deal was finalised.

Rumors I'm hearing are Ritchie De Laet and Danny Guthrie are considering moves to the second city.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

22 Jan 2012 04:11:55
Expect at least two signings/loan deals to replace Jenas & Delph

Sebastien Bassong and Danny Guthrie are both on Mcleish's wanted list during the transfer window, people are also saying Villa will be in for Victor Moses come next season.

Believable7 Unbelievable6

We still have to pay Jenas' wages. so expect no-one.

Agree8 Disagree0

I agree with the guy above. The best we can look forward to is a possible loan signing, probably someone who was as useful as Jenas.

Agree4 Disagree0

20 Jan 2012 23:22:05
heskey will sign a new 2 year contract extension in the nest 2 weeks

Believable5 Unbelievable20

No way.

Agree11 Disagree1

And people think were not in trouble. Heskey signing a two year extension! if this is true then shows what a joke this club has become. Useless player who couldn't hit a cows a**e with a banjo standing twelve inches away. He makes Bosko Balaban look like Messi

reading today that villa are interested in jack rodwell, carlton cole or zomora, damian duff or aidian mcgeedy,But money has to be raised by selling,BENT

Why the hell would Villa want the donkey. Cole was a disaster when he came to AVFC some years ago and he is no better now!!!!!

big news mark albrighton to sign for sunderland by next week craig gardner is coming back to villa as part of the deal

villa showing interest in chris samba but more likely smokescreen for scott dann who will join villa with james collins going to blackburn

mcleish is contemplating a bid for marvin sordell of watford the bid is in the region of 4 million

lastly villa will sign david weir from rangers short term contract, i know these will happen, as i am a close relative of one of the villa reserve team players, he will go barmy when he sees i have posted these

Believable3 Unbelievable30

Utter, utter rubbish.

Craig will never return after his 'I've always been a Blues fan' comments, Dann will not sign and what on earth would we want with Weir?

Finally, how on earth would a reserve team player know about possible signings? Does Alex sit them all in a room when discussing his plans?

Agree20 Disagree1

Why the reserves would know who we selling and buying is beyond me + marc has said he doesnt want to leave! Sordell for 4m?? where we getting that from??

Agree13 Disagree2

Gardner is going to Birmingham on loan

Agree9 Disagree5

Funny thing is, I asked my mate in the villa reserves and he laughed in my face for thinking any of the players, reserve or senior, would know anything about transfers.

Agree9 Disagree1

So many people write so much rubbish on this page it's untrue. FACT villa are signing no one unless we sell the likes of Bent, Gabby or Albrighton the only players left at this once great club with any value. So stop speculating and get real. Would you won't to play for a mid table club, facing a relegation

Agree6 Disagree3

When are villa supporters going to learn not to listen to rumours. WE ARE FLAT BROKE AND IN DEBT! There is no money and the loan signing of Robbie Keane shows we are on our arse financially. Oneil virtually bankrupted this club and we are paying for it now. It will be a rough couple of years and we will need to rely on free transfers or youth players coming through to get by.

Agree12 Disagree3

One thing i can say about villa and that is they are NOT in debt that is one thing i can praise randy for and that is not letting the club get in trouble financially and that is the reason sir doug sold to him and not that fraud who owns blues which he could of sold to if he wanted to but didn't so all you so called loyal villa fans out there who say vote with your feet just remember yes things could be better but things could be a hell of a lot worse!!

Agree9 Disagree4

Fact: randy lerner has wiped off all the debt that he gave us as a loan does not count anymore.
Villa have £14m debt only.
albrighton is not leaving & sunderland are worse than us!

Agree9 Disagree3

I am so glad there are others who belive this is a problem caused by oniell and his ability to waste money on average or end of career players.Stop messing about and get behind the team.
Look at randys stance at cleveland browns he will not throw money on the off chance he tried it and it failed both at villa and cleveland.

Agree5 Disagree1

But we are in debt you tool, Randy when he went on a spending spree with Mon. The money was borrowed against the name of the club, so Villa as it stands are in debt. too quite a hefty sum, plus with us pulling back our stupidly high wage bill, i think it was 85 Million from 90 million turnover last season. It all rings that we're skint, and sinking fast.

Randy will sell up, but he has to address the black hole that is our clubs annual turnover, loss and profit margins as it stands only an person or someone with money to burn would take us off his hands.

Agree6 Disagree1

Lerner has spent approximately £138 million of his own money to buy the club ad the players. The bottom line is this: the club hasn't financed itself at all. It's not self sufficient. Lerner has put his own money in and as a business man and let's not forget, that's what he is, he will want that money back one way or another. Coupled with a manager who plays the most boring football I have ever seen at villa park, worse than it was under O'Leary and ground running up to 15-20,000 below capacity it makes for grim reading. We will get buy and will be ok but need either an inspirational manager or a new owner and let's be honest, neither will be queuing up to get through the door at villa park

Agree7 Disagree1

I spent £15,000 on corporate hospitality for this season. No chance i will be doing it next season. Its the first time I can't wait for the season to end. It's painful to watch at the moment! Even the ex pro's who don't normally criticise are moaning.

Agree8 Disagree0

We are in debt yes, as our probably about 16 other clubs in the league. We are not in bad shape financially in terms of administration etc. Lerner has been repaid his loan when we sold Downing and Young. Hes not going to risk the future of the club to buy players in every transfer window. Deal with it.

Agree3 Disagree0

So 16 other clubs are in debt as well - that ok then is it. And no Lerner hasn't been repaid ALL his money. That's the trouble, the money the club needed from Downing and Young has not gone into the club as such. Wake up and get real

Agree1 Disagree2

What I'm saying is, football is a business. Everyone is in debt because they can loan money from banks because when the seasons over, even if you get relegated your able to pay off the debts if you wanted. We're not in that bad shape, we just need to get the wage bill down before we can start to rebuild. And your right Lerner hasnt been paid of fully but villa dont owe him alot considering we brought in almost 40million in, in the summer.

Agree3 Disagree0

Villa will be in good shape next season, as the likes of gary gardner, ciaran clark, bannan, albrighton and herd have gained enough experience to intensify training sessions and produce consistancy on match days too.
Its vital to get rid of the riff raff of heskey, beye and cuellar and possibly petrov to be able to bring in 2 quality players. I definetly can see a brighter future next season.

PS Id love to see makoun playing in a diamond formation with ireland in front of him!

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jan 2012 02:05:36

also scott dann coming in james collins going to blackburn

nicky maynard
david murphy
david weir

all coming to vp

Believable1 Unbelievable17

2.2Mil for Ridgewell - you having a laugh? He is as good as a chocolate fire guard!

Agree9 Disagree6

Ha Secret agent coming back to Villa will never happen. We just like him at other clubs because he's guarenteed a own goal or gifting a goal! when we play against his team.

Agree3 Disagree1

Clown. villa cant buy any birmingham city players for 24 months. agreement as part of compensation fot mccleish

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Jan 2012 12:32:23
So we've signed Robbie Keane and Edna Stevens, for me the Keane signing is 10 years to late. But that remains to be seen - he is no long term fix lets be honest.

I have heard that the Defoe rumours to us do have legs, he'd get regular first team action. However that all depends on Bent, if he stays then Defoe comes, if he goes then its unlikely.

I think we are thin on the ground everywhere to be honest - and a few players will come in. We have had some promising results, so we may be given funds. I expect to see Dann come in with Collins going the other way - good deal. Also Ritchie De Laet could come in on loan, as could Diouf from Man utd - if Diouf were to come in he'd give us cover up front and on the wings which i think we need.

Central midfield nothing will happen, apart from Delph going out on loan - perhaps we may get McGugan from struggling Forest. James Tomkins is rumoured to be on his way, we are competing with Newcastle on that one at 2.5 million.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

I agree about Defoe , But Gabby, defoe, bent, heskey, keane & delfouneseo upfront?
Sorry but this is McLeish and having 6 good/decent strikers is not going to happen.
Lose heskey & delfouneseo and it is more practical.

Agree7 Disagree2

O'Neil was responsible for overspending of Lerners money. I sat next to a players agent(who is no longer at VP) and he told me that his player was offered 50% more than he wanted to sign for Villa. He ended up getting £75k PW which doubled his previous club wage.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2012 03:45:31
So Scott Dann is being linked at the expense of James Collins. I would probably prefer Dann tbh he is only 24/25 and is arguably the better of the two.

Blackburn are interested in a swap deal Collins for Dann plus cash

Agree10 Disagree5

We should get Samba not Dann!

Agree13 Disagree5

We would not get samba bigger clubs are after him. However if samba leaves then I heard that dann has a release clause because he signed with the agreement that samba would say. Not sure whether its correct tho maybe ed could shed some light on it ?

Agree0 Disagree1

Nobody will even take the likes of Heskey and Beye on a free due to their wages, let alone pay money for them. We're stuck with them until the contracts run out

A Bilyaletdinov / N'Zogbia swap deal is a possibility during the summer according to an Everton fanzine.

Believable7 Unbelievable19

Jealous everton fan i bet.
N'zogbia is much better!

Agree16 Disagree4

It off the cards according to reality

The N'Zog wants to move to a Champions League team and will want big money again, so can't see Everton being his next move. Only came to the Villa as we were the only team stupid enough that would pay him what he is on now. At best he will only be at the Villa for another year before he jumps ship.

Agree7 Disagree2

What a laod of tosh,, no one else coming in..Aston Villa want to reduce wage bill,,here is an idea sack the scouts we dont need them,, coz were not gonna sign anyone... Our club is a joke at the minute...

Agree9 Disagree3

The best Villa can hope for is some unknown Slovakian midfielder coming in on loan, because Mr MBNA has long since got bored with football and wants to save cash and recoup some money. The £10 my bro had on Villa to go down at 18/1 looks better all the time.

Agree7 Disagree5

Absolute crap, honestly what happens in a manager game does not happen in real life

Agree6 Disagree2

Sorry I've just gotta laugh at the person who believes N'zogbia is good enough for a champs league team when he's only good enough to warm the Villa bench as Bannan,Albrighton, and Agbonlahor are all better than him playing out wide

Terry McDermott (ex Newcastle assistant) is believed to be representing the Qatari consortium interested in buying Villa, apparently the same people looked at buying Newcastle last year, this is why McDermott was bought on-board although that takeover never happened he's stayed-on to help push the Villa sale.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Is this the same Terry McDermott who has a full time job as an assistant at Huddersfield Town LOL. Honestly what a bloody fairytale. We are not being taken over we are getting relegated, vote with your feet!

Yeah that's clever! vote with your feet and help to send our club down! you D**k cheese!!

Don't be such a fool. Vote with your feet?? What a great 'supporter' you are! People like you need to get behind the team it's no wonder the players are scared to play at villa park!!

This takeover rumour you're all talking about better have some foundation to it. We need it big time, spending 40k a week on Habib Beye? I could count his appearances on one hand. And Heskey the laughing stock, I'm sure he is on about 50/60k too. Then we come to signing of the season, Jermaine Jenas, 60k a week when he's not even playing for us. Lerner please sell the club now before we are in the championship.

Agree4 Disagree9

Thanks for giving us Villa fans a long deserved laugh.....we need it after the dire displays we have seen down at VP

Dann - 6/8mil
Rodriguez - 1.5mil
Felliani - 15mil
Rodallega - 10mil

So Randy will spend over 30mil to see us finish 12-15 anyway....

We only need to spend a few million buying Big Eck out of his contract that will be our best bit of business this decade

Agree3 Disagree3

If this is true (taking with salt here) then our team will be rejuvenated. Would mean a cracking window in all fairness

Agree4 Disagree3

Delfouneso can go on loan because Robbie Keane is in and Delph seems to have been replaced already with Gary Gardner edging more and more minutes (a good thing for sure).

Not sure why you would use this as "evidence" to be fair

Regarding the QIA takeover! It all fits in together. One thing which we know for sure is the fact that we won't know that it's happened until it has actually happened. Believable5 Unbelievable13

Robbie keane only signing,,, no one else coming we are a joke..knocked out next round of cup, and an anxious 18 games in league trying to stave off relegation,,worrying times for us villa fans..and no qatar takeover who makes up these stories,LMAO...

Kayal & Yueng could be the making of us, yes we are weakened but the same points & a better position that last year with Young & Downing.
But,We have promising youth and that will count for something! {Ed007's Note - Kayal is out injured for the rest of the season.}

has any one heard about the Qatar take over?

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Supposed to be confirmed within the next few weeks. Exciting times at the villa

Agree4 Disagree9

Yeah it's bulls**te

Agree10 Disagree3

Not quite bulls**t as QIA (Qatari investment assosiation) has made contact with the club but neither QIA or Villa want to discuss the matter so who knows whats going on so its just a waiting game to see if anything happens

Agree4 Disagree2

Well if this is true, why would lerner pay £500,000 to bring keane in for 2 months ? he wouldn't spent anything

Agree1 Disagree3

Keane is a commercial deal, he is a well respected player and raises the profile of Aston Villa to the building fan base of the MLS.

Keane is a good signing and a great player, i have not been happy with the goings on at VP. This is a good move especially for our young strikers coming through the reserves as Keane would no doubt help out with them in training. Keane is also known to be a bit of a character which is something GH and AM have said is lacking in the dressing room

Agree2 Disagree0

From what I understand QIA own psg so therefore can't own another club in Europe. Ed, can you put this one to bed or am I wrong? {Ed001's Note - QIA can't own another. Though there are ways around it, families have more than one member in them!}

Agree1 Disagree1

QIA own psg and malaga so you can own more than one club

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont believe this will happen, however i believe it is not the QIA but the Qatar Petroluem which is all still a part of the QIA but is ran by the deputy prime minister of Qatar. The deputy prime minister is a long distant relative of the prime minister who i think runs Malaga. Qatar sports investment own 70% of PSG, so although they are or seem to be a part of the same thing QIA they are all independent of each other. The QIA represents Qatars investments abroad, where as the other two dont. I think!! This means that any of these people can buy out as many football clubs as they like as they are seperate entities without the problem of the 49% rule. Just google Qatar and read for hours dreaming of these guys buying out the Villa, then realise its not happening, I have to say the rumours are building but nobody of media substance has said anything since November

Agree0 Disagree0

The media hasn't said anything more because QIA and Randy Lerner does not want to discuss the matter with the media the only time we will hear anything is when it is a done deal! And personally i think all the evidence that i have read on this site and others also what i have read about QIA them selves on sites that have nothing to do with football that mention QIA, Aston Villa and a possible purchase of the club points more in favor of a take over then against but only time will tell.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2012 14:28:51
Hate to be pessimistic about the Keane deal but is it only me that thinks £500000 is a bit much for a 31 year old for only a possible 6/7 games if he does not get injured? Surely our main problem at the moment is getting a supply of decent balls to the front men to have the chance of scoring? Don’t get me wrong I think Keane on his day is worth having but not for the cost and time frame.

Villa preparing to make an offer for baggies defender Ollson as a potential replacement for Collins

Believable10 Unbelievable12

He is worse than collins.
wba fan trying to make us look bad i bet.

Agree10 Disagree5

Nope it was in the mirror unfortunately. Awful Player

Agree6 Disagree6

In the mirror , that says it all.

Agree6 Disagree2

Sell Collins (or give him away) and make a last minute bid for Samba.

Or simply use Clark as CB as he scored almost as soon as he moved there last night....nice goal from a natural CB

Agree10 Disagree3

Ollson would be a terrible buy, but we defiantly need a good strong CB as collins isn't great and might be leaving, Dunne`s getting on a bit and is prone to errors, and Clarke will be a great player i`m sure but is still young and will need a good CB partner.
McLeish should be looking at Samba defiantly and there are a few CB at spurs not getting regular football that would be a great edition to the squad, so buying a CB should be the priority.

Agree7 Disagree5

Defiantly...

Agree2 Disagree1

Dunno where the hell the rumour started but on BBC sport gossip column it says tottenham want Collins. If it's true we should offer 5mil and Collins for kranjcar.

Believable11 Unbelievable13

PLLLease no Nonzi is useless if were getting a blackburn player get Hoilett or Dunn

Agree7 Disagree10

Hoilett or N'Zonzi.
Dunn is naff

Agree7 Disagree3

I was wondering why McCLUELESS is so high on NZonzi, as he is a pretty dull player to be honest. I wondered if had scored against McCLUELESS before.

So I looked it up and what do you know, the third goal of his career was scored last year vs the scum with McCLUELESS in charge.

Great scouting. Next we will be interested in Wayne Routledge as he scored against us last time out.

Get rid of this clown now!

If we wanna save on the wage bill fire Faulkner and the human PR spin machine Faulkner who are both making a fine penny to take us down too

Agree9 Disagree5

N'Zonzi.and
Dunn are naff Hoilett good AM will go boreing NZonzi as said above CLUELESS

I would love Routledge, would prefer Sinclair, but Routledge is a good player.

Agree8 Disagree2

I Come bearing gifts of news and rumours for my fellow villa fans to talk about.

First up players leaving Villa.

Collins is continually being linked with an exit, and has so far been subject of two bids, both in the region of 3.5 - 4 million (QPR And Sunderland).

Delph, appears to be nearing the exit doors on loan in a bit to get some more game time.

Heskey, the man the enigma the donkey! there are teams interested in the mule, but the stumbling block is his wage demands.

Clarke, there's rumblings of discontent and with the euro's coming up he's been getting itchy feet. But due to recent game time there's no immediate panic from him or his agent, but that could change during the month.

Finally The man of the minute in regards to our biggest piece of speculation in leaving us, Darren Bent. It's true there's been contact, but not from liverpool just yet. It's QPR which was quickly re-buffed. Liverpool are sniffing and they're expected to try and snap him up towards the end of the window.

Players possibly joining the mighty Villa.

Drogba, kaka, villa, forget all these players there names are banded around any clubs that's spend money in the past few years, and sadly ours keeps popping up with these due to Mon's slap dash spending.

Realistic targets that we're aiming for this window.

Starting with the midfield.

Krankjar or Pienaar from spurs, we're holding talks with regards to them, possibly buying the former and loaning the latter if we can agree on the termination of jenas' loan deal.

Kayal of celtic was going to be our target for CM, but he was recently injured in the latest old firm, Causing mcleish to go for option number 2 and target Diame from wigan.

Also Djalo that is on trial with Villa is entering into constructive contract talks, as the trial was purely a fitness and sharpness test, due to his lack of football for the last 6 months. If this goes through expect the move for pienaar to stop, and just push for the one from spurs.

Now on to our Shaky defence, we're not actively looking to add to it, as if we get our midfield targets, then clarke falls back and it gives us 3 capable CD's, Enda stevens gives competition for the LB spot, and lichaji is on the comeback trail. Only news i can offer is the one that everyone knows about the guy that's on trial.

And lastly strikers, While i'd have loved the rumours of Villa and Drogba i did actually laugh quite hard when reading about them. Sadly we're only chasing Keane. least we don't have to worry about kris boyd or bobby zamora coming in.

Believable14 Unbelievable4

I thought the Djalo trial never happened in the end?

Agree7 Disagree6

It's still an on-going trial, the guy is at bodymoor heath training with the rest of the squad, along with the center back.

Agree7 Disagree3

All a load of rubbish....mighty Villa? what 30 years ago maybe

Agree3 Disagree5

Villa were mighty in our 3-1 victory against Chelski mate.
Eck now has to clear some of the worse players (Heskey included!) and bring in some pace.

Agree4 Disagree1

We have to get rid of Heskey somehow, he's been linked with a return to leicester every window for the past three, but how realistic this is I'm not sure. We're lacking the right sort of striker to play with either Bent or Gabby in a 4-4-2. Bent and Gabby are too similar to play together, we need somebody to link up the play rather than someone who plays on the shoulder of the last defender, but still need him to bang in some goals. Basically, a better version of Heskey with goals. Zamora is perhaps an option, but he seems to be getting on with Jol now after the winner against Arsenal and I'm not sure he'd be every Villa fans cup of tea. We need to look for a bargain abroad or in the championship/lower prem. Graham is doing a good job for Swansea for example

Agree2 Disagree2

It said on the Villa website a few weeks ago that the Djalo trial was terminated.

bent is not leaving he wont go to lower standard club plus keane on loan now were talking business loserpool need to get a grip

Believable9 Unbelievable11

Not been funny but Liverpool are a much bigger club than us and always will be unless we win CL another 4 times your showing yourself up

Agree14 Disagree7

I dont think this guy is showing himself up by giving his opinion i believe liverpool live off there history, what are they now a 6th 7th placed team,as villa fans we all know we always underachieve ,but to say liverpool will always bigger than us your talking b******s. as weve all been taught the past is the past.what have man city won ?but id say they are a bigger and better club than the mighty reds(lol).

Agree10 Disagree6

I think you need to learn how to treat clubs with respect and understand that Liverpool are evidently one of the greatest clubs on the planet. Just look at their worldwide following and we can't even fill our own stadium. I think sone of us villa fans need to take a look in the mirror before they begin to dis respect other clubs.

Agree11 Disagree7

O Come on villa bigger than liverpool haha best joke i have heard for years

Agree9 Disagree4

Some fellow villa fans embarrass me sometimes.

Agree12 Disagree8

What is the point in arguing, it won't solve anything, ultimately its AMc decision, and i'm sure he will do what ever he thinks is necessary, Bent wont be leaving because of the lack of opportunities he would get at liverpool and a lower league club could jepodise his position in the villa squad. Look, he moved to Villa and was selected by capello, what does that show you?

Agree4 Disagree3

Villa are known for producing England players.
Walker,barry,milner,young,downing.bent & gabby
agbonlahor at times.

we are known for producing great things from talented players.

Agree4 Disagree2

Of all those players you mentioned, which came through your youth? Most where bought from other clubs and consistently started for Villa which caught the eye of Capello. Villa just bought the talent they didn't make them what they are

Agree3 Disagree3

Yeah I agree we bought the talent, but they were clearly better players at Aston Villa. The only one on that list performing well at their new club is Walker and maybe Barry.

Agree4 Disagree3

I agree i say we get back milner or barry back

leaving £13m for the summer to reinvest.

Agree6 Disagree10

Drogba 3m now thats funny!

Agree11 Disagree3

Drogba for £3m!
Bent for £30m!
haha

Agree11 Disagree2

Bent is never going anywhere for 30 million, we only bought him for £24 million because of the threat of relegation, and the clubs threatened by relegation this year, like qpr, have nowhere the power of avfc to lure players for those kinds of fees. In my opinion Bent will stay, purely because of the fact that will struggle to recoup the money that we bought him for

Your getting excited, drogba for 3m stop begging!

Aston Villa looking to sign, Pienaar on loan from tottenham for the rest of the season, fighting off Everton. We also might be looking at niko kranjcar for a buy or loan as he is not getting to much action. Eck is also wondering about two players up in scotland ; steven Davis and Ki-Sung Yueng !

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Can't have two loan players from the same team - Jenas.

Agree7 Disagree1

Dont do this to yourself we will not be signing any quality players just look at who runs the club and look at the manager, Championship football next year

Agree4 Disagree6

Jenas has been returned!

Agree3 Disagree7

You can have two players on loan from the same team. Villa loaned Baker and Lowry to Millwall this season.

Agree5 Disagree8

Im sorry but i think if Pienaar has the choice between Villa and Everton he will choose Everton every time.

Agree16 Disagree4

I have heard about Ki but Kranjcar is old news.

Agree4 Disagree0

Premier League Clubs can't loan more than one player at a time from another premier club, championship clubs can, Jenas still counts as a loan signing so we'd have to either buy jenas or pienaar

Agree7 Disagree1

Stuff kranjcar get ben arta for 7m

We are now a joke and a laughing stock, time to boycott all games until this joke of a manager and the person board are gone.

Protests dont work and are if i am honest quite rude, a silent Villa Park until we know what the bloody hell is going on at our club, is the only way of getting what we want, we pay the wages without our support the board are stuck.

Vote with your feet and your wallet

Lerner is a fraud

Believable11 Unbelievable9

Don't kid yourself, your boycott will achieve nothing.

Agree8 Disagree7

Stick to team,im not a villa fan but when we were going through the same situation last year with the american clowns so we know how you feel, regarding the bent situation good player but alot of reds dont want him,i would sooner take torres back myself ,anyway best of luck in the last half of the season

Agree7 Disagree0

Well said L.pool get behind your team come rain or shine. The fickle villa fan up top was probably saying we are a top 6 team after Chelsea. The team were to blame Monday not manager. AVFC will be here long after manager/chairman! UTV

No its not a wind up, i didnt say i dont rate bent hes a good player ,but spending that sort of money i would rather have podolski, and i think torres could do a job for the reds again ,

Agree2 Disagree1

The fickle Villa fan is probably sick of watching such bad football, from a manager who has an appalling record.

I would not mind if we lost but played well and i am not bothered by where he came from either, the club is a joke from top to bottom. Randy Lerner is a fraud just look at the Cleveland brown forums to prove it

Agree2 Disagree5

As much as I hate Torres for how he left the club, he was lied to by the old owners and and this new phase with the club was all to little to late, he just wanted to win something before he gets too old, I would have him back just like the good old days.

Cheers
Squeky

Agree1 Disagree0

So the whole clubs a joke from top to bottom so does that mean we should not support the team? Randys a joke but take him away and what? A sheikh, its not going to happen.

Agree2 Disagree1

No we were promised CL football, it has not happened, the football is carp. All the money he has put into the club is a loan with a massive amount of interest on top of it.

The man is a parasite, take your head out of your .... and smell the roses

Agree2 Disagree2

Thats your opinion but you Diddnt answer my question. Take him away and what? If he never came in would of we pushed for CL and finished top 6? I think not. Get real! He wants to run the club as a business by not making a loss which in the long run is far better than your fantasy

Agree2 Disagree2

What is my fantasy i have not at any point stated who or what i wantto takeover the club. RL made a promise he has not lived upto that promise. In all other forms of business this would lead to a resignation. MON over spent but Lerner let him. Read my posts properly before you jump to weird conclusions

Agree2 Disagree1

As you know the game is all about money and who's got the most. Things changed we can't compete with the likes of man city. We had a good couple of seasons when he came in but if he never I doubt we would of had the with Ellis. Lerner has improved the whole infrastructure of the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

I have not stated otherwise, i have simply said based on some of the decisions he has made the club is now suffering, allowing Habib Beye 40k a week, Warnock is on 60k a week, heskey 60k plus addons and then allowing them to sit on the bench. Lerner has also taken on a manager who has left fans disgruntled. bringing in AM has put immense pressure on the club to succeed. We did not need to do this, if i am honest enough i actually believe lerners biggest mistake was the hiring of Paul Faulkner, i cannot ctisize everything he does, but since he has been at the club the anti lerner campaign has grown. I have not seen anyone post In lerner we trust in a long time, not even yourself could manage that one

Agree1 Disagree1

Those signings you mention were down to MON and Lerner had confidence in him at the time so he can't be blamed. I agree about Faulkner he is a problem and that is down to Lerner. My ideal situation is Faulkner and mccleish take a helicopter ride on a dark windy night and you can make the rest up yourself. But... We need randy $

O'Neill made Villa skint, it is his fault we had to do big cut backs because of his massive wage give-outs.

Judas ....never want him back after what he has done to our club

MON has nearly ruined our club as did Lerner's ignorance of an out of control manager and dressing room

Agree8 Disagree6

Lerner's divorce cost him 80mill and two houses. that did not help.

Agree7 Disagree4

Fans who want MON back are thick! He ruined our club on purpose. Beye agreed to sign for 20k per week MON put it up to 50k to annoy Lerner that was just one example of the vile things he did to get at Lerner.

Agree5 Disagree1

Correct MON was trying to do as much damage as possible. With the amount of money he spent we should of got CL. He will soon throw his toys out of his pram up there if he don't get his own way.. The mans a sh!t stain

Agree2 Disagree0

How the hell does anyone know what players are on and what mon did unless you are randy or mon or the players i think some people need to stop reading newspapers

Villa to look at Vargas from Fiorentina again after missing out on Sigurosson, who joined up with Swansea on loan this week. Anthony Knockaert from Guingamp is also an option according to some sources.

Mcleish may also pounce for unsettled Belgian midfielder Steven Defour who's looking to leave Porto already, though other premiership clubs are on alert inc Fulham, Newcastle, West Brom and Liverpool.

Believable10 Unbelievable8

We get linked with defour every transfer window, would be nice to see it finally go through

Aston villa looking to sign, Hollilet, Carrick and Keane
with Stevens already in, it looks like a centre back and maybe heskey on the way out ! what do you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - the only team I know of in talks for Hoilett are Spurs, but I wouldn't be surprised if Villa have a go at getting him too. Carrick is highly unlikely, he would need to take a pay cut to join. Keane? Do you mean Robbie Keane? If so, I very much doubt it, he has thrown away his own career.}

Ed what have you heard on new signings.I think mcleish will get money to spend as learner needs to strengthen the team, to enable him to sell the club. {Ed001's Note - the only things I have heard recently were a return for Gardner, he is supposed to have had his 'people' (whatever that actually means!) contact the club expressing a desire to return. Also Maynard is a possibility, and there is a very real interest in Kayal.}
