think it is a mistake to give Lambert more funds in Jan, he has always been a really success full manager with his previous teams with very little funds, all the time he is looking forward to fix the problems with new signings, in the past he has not really had the luxury of money to buy his way out of trouble, therefore fix the problems with what you have, Lambert has proved in the past he is capable of getting the best out of players, when he was at Norwich there were no individual superstars but as a unit they were fantastic, really worked for each other and the manager.
I think buying in top players on top wages will only make the up and coming players feel inferior, stick with what you have, get rid of the top earners (with the big egos) replace them with hungry players that want to play.....It sounds cruel but a year in the Championship will really sort you out, get rid of all the dead wood, bring the wages down and build a team that will fight together to return to the Prem..
Look at Norwich, we were at a real low point, now we are back in the prem and take nothing for granted, we came back stronger than ever....

Believable9 Unbelievable13

Hey Chelsea fan here, i agree with all of that 8-0 was so harsh full credit to him has a manger for not shutting up shop even though i think the next 2-3 years look like its going to be a hard watch i think you still have to much quality to go down and he is a good manager with such a young team the future could end up being rather bright.

Bannan on his way to Nottingham Forest.

Believable10 Unbelievable11

Hopefully he takes Hutton on a perm. Dunne as well. Albrighton 5m would be decent

Agree8 Disagree5

Warnock to west ham
Dunne to new york red bulls
Bent to fulham/qpr
Nzogbia to the only team who'll have him Wigan
Ireland to anyone
Makoun open to offers
Hutton making his deal perminent and Bannan to follow him to forrest

Agree6 Disagree3

Fulham don't want Bent & Villa wouldn't sell him to QPR (relegation rivals).

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop talking about selling are squad is small enough as it is we need to be looking at buying players

Agree0 Disagree0

joleon lescott is up for sale for 8m according to city but pl only given 10m in january but i think we nned lescott an england international to guide young clark and baker him and big ron would be solid to sort out our current defencife woes

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Would be a great addition , brummie boy and a villa fan. go and get him villa

Agree14 Disagree0

We play with three cb's ATM cuz vlaar n dunne are injured and none of the others are experienced enough. If we have lescott that's three left footed CBS and I'm sure most managers prefer a right and left

Agree5 Disagree6

Oh ok if we have a chance of getting lescott lets pass on it as he's left footed

Agree5 Disagree1

according to the page scot parker is interested in coming in to the club a good asset im sure

Believable9 Unbelievable4

Would love Parker an lescott an villa park but can't believe parker would leave spurs for us. An lescotts wages would be a big problem for us, he'd have to take a 50percent pay cut which is hard to believe any1 would do that in any walk of life. Scg87

Agree9 Disagree3

Parker I would love wish he didn't go spurs instead of us

Agree5 Disagree1

He wont leave london he'd sign for qpr, watford, carlton before us

paul lambert has been given 10m to spend in jan according to TV sport and the papers so we need to get rid of dunne warnock and hutton aswell as makoun.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

They will all end up at forest by the sounds of it

Agree7 Disagree3

And Bent also Possibly N'Zogbia so that's a bit of money and big lose of wages

Agree4 Disagree3

31 Dec 2012 13:50:28
get rid off

dunne warnock, hutton, makoun, ireland

all of them are doing nothing for villa
??

Believable10 Unbelievable4

And bent, by the way there also over payed, and I reckon the majority don't give a damn about the club

Agree9 Disagree4

"get rid off

dunne warnock, hutton, makoun, ireland

all of them are doing nothing for villa
?"
Maybe you can add to you post who you think will buy these players, face it all of these players are on extreme wages, they are not bothered about playing either. No other club will be stupid to pay the kind of wages they are on, face it you are stuck with them draining your funds...

Agree5 Disagree2

N what makes you think benteke cares so much about our club? Truth is very few players care about the club, there mostly in it for themselves, with the exception of the academy players. Scg87

Agree8 Disagree3

You are really luck to have so many academy players coming through, stick with them as tey are not in it for the money......(yet)

Agree5 Disagree1

I think Benteke just needs to learn he is not necessarily in the XI every week too.
Then he'll have to push even harder ;)

Bit of a shock Lambert is now reported to be interested in Craig Micheal smith from Brighton, Lambert tried for him when at Norwich,

Believable1 Unbelievable10

Sorry to be realistic but he would be our best finisher

Agree1 Disagree4

31 Dec 2012 13:27:37
Need two quaity midfielders, a hard tackling defensive player plus a creative attacking player, together with an experienced CB to stop the kids panicing when we go behind. Ireland is awful and needs to be sold and Bannan just isn't cutting it, proof of that was their terrible performances against Wigan.

Most importantly we need players who will give 150% for the cause not ones who simply turn up and take the money !

Believable10 Unbelievable1

31 Dec 2012 02:56:04
Apparently Aton Villa are showing an interest in striker Joselu from 1899 Hoffenheim

Believable2 Unbelievable8

He signed for Hoffenheim in the summer for £5 million. No chance he would be on the move yet. At least not for the money we could offer.

Agree4 Disagree2

Maybe we're monitoring him for next season? I saw the same link with Swansea also in the frame to sign him up.

Players going:
Dunne
Bent 10 mil plus if we're lucky
Hutton
Warnock
Players in:
Aubumeyang
Zaha
Lescott

A reliable source has told me these, however what we need is strength and depth with cm's. We don't play wingers apart from wing backs. Go back to 4 at the back with a strong ball winning midfielder and villa will be back on track. {Ed002's Note - After a year at St Etienne Aubameyang has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Manchester City, Manchester United, Zenit St Pete, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs and PSG, probably amongst others. He has said in the past the one day his dream would be to return to play with a great Milan side. I didn't see him leaving the Geoffroy-Guichard in January but I understand that if a significant bid is made that St Et will give it due consideration. Such a bid is being pondered by Fiorentina. Crystal Palace will look to hold on to Zaha until the summer and if they get promoted perhaps after that too. He was to be allowed to move this past summer at the right price with Sunderland, West Ham and Reading look possible destinations. Liverpool have certainly looked at Zaha in the past but there is strong interest from Arsenal and Manchester United and perhaps even interest from Spurs. Game time will no doubt be a factor in the short-term.}}

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Reports this morning say that PL will only have £10m to spend in jan. Not enough!! Scg87

Agree9 Disagree3

If we lack PL experience, why would we sell Bent & bring in Zaha?
I'd rather we sell Ireland

Agree9 Disagree3

30 Dec 2012 22:17:50
Realistically ed who could villa sign? And do you know if we will even be given any money? {Ed002's Note - I will offer up the possibility of of Frederik Sorensen from Bologna (with part ownership from Juventus), a young centre back moving to Aston Villa.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Another young player, do you know of any even slightly expirienced player we've might look at? {Ed002's Note - Those who have been looked at are probably priced out of the market for Villa, not moving, or considering what might politely be considered to be more attractive options. Whilst the likes of Maribor's Beric was looked at, Charlie Austin might be someone who the club could turn to. Fary Hooper perhaps another. Selling a few players might boost the pot.}

Agree3 Disagree0

What leagues are all them in and where do they play? {Ed002's Note - I shall leave you to conduct some extensibe research yourself.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Beric plays for sum strange named club lol. Austin, burnley. Hooper, Celtic all strikers

Agree2 Disagree3

Beric plays for Maribor. He did so in spurs group in Europa league

Paul Lambert looks set to sign jermain Jones from the bundesliga.

Just hope lambert gets some people hopefully lescott, zaha(think he'd join us for 1st team action), and augbameyang please lambert keep us up!

Not a complete gag, but wouldn't it be great if we could persuade Frank Lampard to be a life saver. Chelsea dont want him, does he fancy a fight? Pay him the standard Villa minimum wage and offer him £2m if Villa stay up. This would more than be covered by the payments that would come at the end of the season. Wow this would put bums on seats. Gotta go now , my medication is wearing down. Bye

Believable11 Unbelievable11

He wouldn't even get out of bed to answer the phone to go to Villa.

Agree11 Disagree1

30 Dec 2012 13:08:33
Aston Villa are very close to signing Wilfred Zaha for £10million from Crystal Palace.

Believable7 Unbelievable19

Of all the teams linked with him what makes you think we'd get him?We don't even make MOVES for young stars in the lower leagues! Walcott, AO-C, Ramsay... all went to Arsenal... Bale to Spuds... even Southampton went and picked up Clyne...

Agree3 Disagree1

Ed any truth villa are clase to signing zaha? {Ed001's Note - not sure, they have certainly looked at him and are interested. It is more like the Matty Phillips of Blackpool situation, as far as I am aware. In that Villa are one of a group of interested clubs, but none have yet made a move for him.}

Agree2 Disagree1

Why are we all saying we are going to get people when lambert said we don't need new signings

Agree1 Disagree2

We need to keep bent as well he's a goal scorer if he gets games and scores goals he'll be happy and so will we

Agree4 Disagree2

Oh my gosh this is obvious now man city willing to sell lescott for 8mill come on Lambert common sense

Agree5 Disagree3

We did sign ashley young when no-one else took the chance...

Agree3 Disagree0

What an absolute lie no chance with bigger teams chaseing him

Agree2 Disagree2

Why are we all saying we are going to get people when lambert said we don't need new signings
-------------------------------------
Lambert stated after wigen he'll speak with lerner as we know were our faults are and he needs to see what funds will be made available

Agree0 Disagree1

A. Young was 1 of the best players in the prem for Watford for 6 months, that's why we "took a chance"

Agree8 Disagree1

Sell bent in january, get the money for him, would rather have a fit championship striker than an injury prone bench warmer, cmon the villa

Agree8 Disagree2

Well said m8, bent was hardly prolific for us , ur right get bent sold asap

Agree4 Disagree3

20 goals in 50 odd games for villa isn't bad is it? Especially In a struggling villa team an especially when the first 9 of his goals kept us in the prem! Injury prone? He was injured for 3 months last season an has just got injured couple weeks back, 2 injuries in 2 years, hardly injury prone

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Dec 2012 18:49:51
Some papers saying Bent to Fulham for £8m, can this be right? Might be injured but he should be staying, he is needed. Lambert bought Championship players and that looks like where they will be playing 2013/14. There is a lack of experiance anywhere in the team. A midfield "maestro" is essential as is a destoyer at the back. In fact we need a complete change from the very top, Lerner, to the very bottom. The players are all lightweight, no solid muscle anywhere. We can all go on all day about where and what is required, but unless Lerner opens his wallet we will be playing at St Andrews again next season. Reality should have struck home by know. if it hasn't then god help us!!!!!!

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Villa are doomed unless PL gets at least £40m to buy GOOD & EXPERIENCED players from Lerner. Or we are doomed to the championship. I can see what Lambert is trying to build but we are sinking ever so quickly!

Agree5 Disagree11

Who are we actually linked with this January someone tell me some names and who they play like

Agree7 Disagree3

Anyone who thinks lambert will keep us up are losing there marbles

Agree8 Disagree11

Now all 3 teams below see Villa as the team to get 3 points out of, and the rest see them as the training pitch match, Lambert will without doubt take the Villa down

Agree7 Disagree4

I have not seen a single positive rumour about any player that we might be interested in buying. My honest opinion is that Lerner believes that there are enough players in the squad for us to climb the table when they are all fit. By the time this happens we will be in the championship and it will be too late. Herd is a liability, Bannan is too fragile, Lichaj is out of his depth, Ireland aint bothered. Are Lowton & Bennett & Stevens good enough for the prem? Remember that they were in the champs. last year and the gap from champs to prem is massive. Clark and Baker need a father figure to guide them through a game. Enthusiasm is one thing but they dont have a game face. Whatever we feel only one person can make changes, LERNER!!!

Agree6 Disagree3

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang plays for gabon and st ettiene looks like neymar tall fast and can finish.

Agree6 Disagree2

I don't know why everyone thinks we're linked with people lambert said he's not buying additions to the squad in January he said once all are players are back from injury we will be ok

Agree0 Disagree9

And when they get injured again?...

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not denying we should get people just saying what pl said

Agree0 Disagree0

Lambert says that when they are back from injury we will be OK. Lambert or Lerner? No manager in his right mind would believe this situation, only a manager who has been told "you are getting no monjey."

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2012 19:54:48
Tardisnce & Lescott to Aston Villa but not PL signings.

Matteo & Di Canio on standby!!

Believable5 Unbelievable22

What are u onna bout

Agree14 Disagree4

Lambert is not going anywhere

Agree19 Disagree6

You saying we're sacking Lambert?
After we just agreed to pay Norwich compensation for the guy??
Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is Lambert's sort of player & will be amazing upfront with Benteke.

Agree13 Disagree7

Yoan gouffran

Agree7 Disagree6

I would never want dicanio at our club he is a joke of a manager

Agree5 Disagree3

Who or what is Tardisnce?

Agree4 Disagree2

Chris samba anyone? We need a strong proven CH..

Agree6 Disagree7

Would prefer Lescott.

Agree6 Disagree3

Is everyone forgetting vlaar and dunne are still injured we won't need one once one of either is bk

Agree2 Disagree9

Lambert out before its to late

Agree3 Disagree12

"Lambert out before its to late"
And replace him with who?
Sacking managers doesn't solve anything we need stability and that comes with time. We could have any manager in the world but no one can perform miracles with nothing to work with

Agree9 Disagree2

Dunnes done

Agree4 Disagree2

Lescott great shout , but wouldnt his 90k a week wages be a stumbling block??

Agree4 Disagree0

The last thing we need is more instability we don't need to panic we're in a fight yes but with half the season still to go and key players to come back from injury we'll be ok, we do need to replace Petrov as I have from a very good source he will never play again and will be offered a role on the coaching staff when he has fully recovered

Agree2 Disagree0

Even if you had'nt payed Compensation, you would still have to if you sack Lambert, because of the way you took him away from Norwich, Tapping up is against the rules, and your board were advised to pay up out of court. It could have cost you more, wake up and smell the coffee, Villa Fans you are supporting the wrong management team, Lerner will along with PL take you down.

Agree0 Disagree3

Could see Lescott coming to Villa, born in Birmingham and supports Villa 2 factors that may influence his decision

Agree2 Disagree2

Deluded Villa fans, Why would he want to? just because he was born in B-ham and want to go back, dare I say it I'm from B-ham and will never move back there,

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Dec 2012 18:26:29
Apparently Lambert is preparing a move for midfielder Stanislaw Drahun from Belarusian outfit Dinamo Minsk, some fans already using his comparison to a more mobile Michael Carrick, Sampdoria and a few lower German teams are also reportedly interested, though Villa lead the queue.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Why would we want another player like carrick when we have westwood who is apparently the new carrick

Agree5 Disagree3

, westwood not good enough and also had his chances, my dad a walsall fan and says the best young midfielder hes seen for years is mantom on loan from baggies, send the scouts lambert

Agree2 Disagree4

Cos your dad is a scout himself. Hire him Lambert! I'm sure he will tell about all those quality players a t Walsall

LambertMyLord

Agree5 Disagree3

Oi! go get yourself your own ID without using mine!

LambertMyLord

Agree1 Disagree1

Lol 'new carrick' and what world is that?

Agree2 Disagree0

But some of Walsall players show a lot of passion on the pitch, all the Villa team do is check thier bank ballance, LAMBERT OUT

Agree3 Disagree6

Lambert out come on he's hardly had Barcelona to work with. He's got a very good project on the cards. If we stay up and get to the final we can celebrate a good season with this little squad with little class. Nathan Redmond would be nice in January

Agree4 Disagree1

Redmond for the right Matty Ritchie for the left

Agree1 Disagree2

Thought you lot don't welcome Bluenoses?

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Dec 2012 17:01:50
Aston villa set to make a bid for st Etienne and gabon stiker pierre emerick-aubameyang as he has just rejected a bid from fiorentina in hope aston villa will come calling

Believable8 Unbelievable7

Have a horrible feeling this guy might end up like Marouane Chamakh if we sign him, hmmmmm?

Agree3 Disagree5

Noooo he does not play like chamakh he's a great player with electrifying pace great skills and quality finisher a perfect partner for benteke I just hope that lambert signs him it's just what we need him and a midfield maestro

Agree5 Disagree2

This is out of the blue, but what has happened to the villa challenging for champions league places that was only 3-4 years ago since then its been a disgrace the attendance is embarrassing we need more players in and players who will run their heart out for the villans and don't care how much money their being payed a week, we need our old villa back!

Agree3 Disagree0

What embarrassing attendances we have been getting 34k-38k at every home game in a time of economic depression, you are a deranged person

Agree3 Disagree1

Pierre emerick-aubameyang is exactly what we need! we can make a nice profit off him too if we need to in the future!

Agree5 Disagree0

To the guy who said we need our old team back... you are crazzzzyyyyyy!! That 'old' team were the ones which got us in this situation in the first place and just to reiterate, they are not as hard workers as these players we have now. They were paid in the high tens of thousands and these players are paid in the high thousands. We are building a foundation of legacy at this club. One which will lead on to great things eventually... If you can't understand that we need to be patient as we are doing things the right way then go support Man City...

Agree12 Disagree1

Calm down

Agree3 Disagree6

Randy lerner set to leave aston villa after standing bythem for 6 years with aston villa sponsor owners of genting casinos to make a bid which randy will look at closely

Believable8 Unbelievable8

Well that's out of nowhere

Agree10 Disagree4

27 Dec 2012 20:47:02
Randy Lerner set to stand down as chairman of the football club. It's believed the american businessman is set to say farewell to villa park after being chairman of the club for just over six years.

It's rumored Lerner is in talks with various buyers for the club.

Believable5 Unbelievable9

As said elswhere, why should Lerner bother to stay when the fans can't be bothered to turn up

Agree2 Disagree8

To be honest if we get new buyers we need some that are prince Arabs simple as, so we can get some top quality players in

Agree3 Disagree7

Hopefullt this is true

Agree0 Disagree4

I am a ST holder what a load of crap, if the fans bothered to turn up? what are you talking about

Agree7 Disagree1

36, 000+ on a dismal Boxing Day when we were live on Sky, How is that "not turning up" ?

Agree8 Disagree2

Where did you find this out from

Agree4 Disagree2

Where's this come from?

Agree4 Disagree3

It would be nice if learner turned up, and spoke about what is going on
? Ie how much money we have to spend, we need some exp at the back.bring in lescott and it would be nice if we could get millner back on lone or buy

Agree0 Disagree2

We don't need lescott he is near the end of his career milner would be a great signing to have back and striker aubameyang will be great with benteke and weimann

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2012 22:13:47
Villa signing hernandez isnt bull infact its very posible. He isnt starting at united so guaranteed first team football would tempt him also he hasn't been great since his first season and i dont know much about so i could be wroung but im preety suqe he doesnt have high wages so i dont see why not. Would be good partner up front alongside bentekke with ireland behind them.

Believable1 Unbelievable12

Sell Bent for £12m & bring in Hernandez.
Taarabt anyone?

LambertMyLord

Agree1 Disagree8

Someone call for the nurse, he's out of bed again

Agree6 Disagree2

Mate, your leaving in dream world. lerner is trying to sell the club and you think your going to buy a player like that. wake up u mug

Agree2 Disagree5

At first I regarded this as bull, however apparently Lewamdoski has agreed to go to United, which would make Hernandes 5th choice, so maybe...
However I think Aubameyang is a better and more realistic option

Agree5 Disagree3

No chance, he scores every time he plays for Utd. Why the hell would he want to swap a title challenge with a relegation scrap?? The comments on this page get more and more far fetched.

Agree3 Disagree2

Demba ba is just 5million just get him simple as he scores goals and he's not from another league and knows what the Bpl is like

Agree1 Disagree5

Sell Bent for 12 Million, TO WHO?

Agree3 Disagree1

Ba will not come to villa don't be ridiculous. He'll only leave for better than Newcastle. And unfortunately that's not us.

Agree4 Disagree3

Would prefer pierre emerick-aubameyang.

Agree2 Disagree1

Demba ba might be forr sale at 5 million but agents want a cut of the deal as well so your looking at 12-13 mill for a complete ba deal so thats unrealistic for me

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2012 18:05:38
Mario Zarate to join villa on loan

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Mauro zarate? The same one that played for Birmingham? I doubt it, isn't he playing for inter

Agree4 Disagree1

He is going to Genoa from Lazio. End of that rumour!

Agree0 Disagree0

How many loan players do you lot think you can have then ?

Agree0 Disagree0

He's at lazio and they rarely play him and if im correct he's in his last year of contract so we could get him on loan with view of a permanent for free in the summer

Agree1 Disagree3

27 Dec 2012 17:55:15
Ian Holloway wants to sign Barry Bannan worked with him at Blackpool Glen Murray to be offered in swap deal

Believable2 Unbelievable5

No , never.
Bannan has good great this season why would we swap him for an old man? no!

Agree4 Disagree1

I would be happy with that I generally think bannan is shocking, we should play Holman there instead for his stamina a 4-2-3-1
Guzan
Lowton Vlaar Clark bennett
Westwood Holman
Gabby Ireland zoggy
Benteke

Agree4 Disagree7

Difference is most of the team you just said is injured & Holman is not fit enough to play a full match at the pace he does.

Agree3 Disagree1

27 Dec 2012 12:42:08
villa to sign Chris Woods from WBA for 2m

Believable2 Unbelievable13

Wrong Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is prepared to reject a move to fiorentina as long as he knows he is joining a premier league club, which is aston villa

Agree12 Disagree4

Would love to see us sign him, I also think we should activate Diames 3.5 mil clause and try and sign him cheaply to add some physical strength and a good tackler

Agree4 Disagree2

Wouldn't mind wood or guidetti

Agree4 Disagree8

27 Dec 2012 12:33:53
villa to sign tom huddelstone on loan

Believable11 Unbelievable11

Would be very happy with that

Agree7 Disagree6

Would certainly beef up the midfield, would be good to have an option to make it permanent as well

Agree3 Disagree3

Just listern to yourselfs will you, How many players do you want on loan and how many are you allowed to have, (2) max. keep taking the pills Lambert OUT

Agree1 Disagree4

Wtf!! Are you seriously calling for PL to get the sack!?? Lol. I have plenty of things to criticise PL for an I have done just that, but I still think he's the right man, atleast give him until after the jan transfer window to see what he has planned

Agree5 Disagree1

27 Dec 2012 00:03:36
Zaha at Palace once again linked with Villa £10million offer this time, despite the £18million price tag that Holloway put on him when Arsenal game sniffing round.

Also Wes Hoolahan is linked to reunite with Lambert something about £3million bid could be on table.

Believable10 Unbelievable9

If anythin comes from these last two shockingly poor performances I hope PL realises signing the likes of Deeney. Bridcutt. Sam. Stephens. Murray an Emness will not help us one bit! We don't need anymore so called 'young hungry' players lol, we don't have 2-3 years to wait for them to get better, our survival is at risk. We need players who are experienced an already of premiership quality. Scg87

Agree13 Disagree2

You wouldn't get Hoolahan for 3 million, so keep dreaming

Agree11 Disagree2

Hoolahan and Holt are going nowhere near gashton villa

Agree8 Disagree3

If anything we need to try and snap up some experienced players from the premier league, not players from other leagues where the game is really slow and boring

Agree8 Disagree1

Hoolahan and Holt have re-signed extended contracts to stay at Norwich till 2015 dream on and keep taking the pills

Agree3 Disagree1

26 Dec 2012 21:06:54
Unfortunate rumor this one, but apparently we were very close to making a move for Colombian striker Jackson Martinez before his switch to Porto.

Believable3 Unbelievable11

Delfouneso scored again today wouldn't mind him back {Ed003's Note - He is not ready for the Prem}

Agree7 Disagree11

The same Martinez that is going to Stoke.

Agree1 Disagree2

Delfouneso not ready for the prem?
Is this a statement or a question? He has been at Villa longer than me and still is/was unable to get a starting slot!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Dec 2012 11:44:15
Im a norwich city fan and I have news for you. paul Lambert is trying to sign steve morison for 3m

Believable7 Unbelievable5

And he is welcome to him

Agree5 Disagree2

3mill not worth tht

Agree5 Disagree2

Thanks for the lol
we heard this about 2 months ago

Agree4 Disagree2

I think Villa should be looking at defenders not strikers, 12 goals in 2 games says it all.

Agree6 Disagree6

We might have conceded 12 goals in 2 games but we've only scored 15 in the prem this season which is less than any1 else so maybe we need both defenders an strikers. An benteke has looked like a Sunday league player the last 2 games so let's get him some good support. Scg87

Agree11 Disagree1

So why would Morrison want to come to villa when we're constantly in the bottom 5 where as Norwich are on a role, we need to get a new defender and a new defensive midfielder and a striker

Agree5 Disagree3

Constantly in the bottom 5? I suggest you have another look over the last 18 years or so.

Agree4 Disagree1

On a role?
I do believe the score was 4-1?

LambertMyLord

Agree1 Disagree2

You can't live or pay your way through life on History Last season you should have gone down this season is no different, All be it a bit of silver which will be the nail in the coffin.

Agree1 Disagree2

How do you work out that "we should have gone down last season"? What do you base that theory on? We got more points than the 4 teams below us. Get a life and stop being so bitter about Lambert. At least we have a history, no one had heard of you in the Premier League 3 years ago and you forget that you would still be rotting in Div 1 losing 7 - 1 to Colchester if it wasn't for Lambert - show some respect.

Agree2 Disagree3

I do not see how you can quote your win in the cup. Unless u didnt realise we had our second team out barring hoolahan and you have your pathetic first team squad! Take one look at the league...On the other hand Lambert worked miracles with us and if u give him time im confident he will do the same with u. Hope u stay up... Lets see QPR go down!

pl is looking at watford striker troy deeney, deeney is a local lad who is growing tired of the long dinstances travelling between his young family in birmingham and training, he has been in good scoring form the last 2 seasons and fits the pl criteria (young, hungry, high work rate, honest, fast to play off benteke) 4th choice striker.

Believable5 Unbelievable10

9 goals. In 16 games seems good to me, especially if he pressurises for the deal, could be singed for a good price.

Agree2 Disagree12

Watford bought him for £500,000 villa could get him for £1.5 mil his wages are affordable even more so if bent moves on. leaving money to try to tempt ince with 1st team football which he desires in the prem.

Agree4 Disagree1

Deeney? Lol. Does any1 really believe he'd improve us?

Agree18 Disagree5

At the start of the summer if you we're told about Benteke would you have thought he would have added anything to the squad, same for Lawton Westwood vlast etc ?

Agree4 Disagree6

I had seen benteke an Westwood play before we signed them so it was obvious to see why they were targets. Lowton on the other hand has better than I expected but i wouldn't say he has been above average. I've seen deeney play an he is just not good enough an we are in desperate need of proven quality to go with our young an naive team which deeney is not

Agree13 Disagree2

I know the players will be taking alot of the flak for this embarrassing defeat but we shouldn't forget PLs shocking performance, started with a 5-3-2 which I thought was a mistake to begin with but to continue playing
5-3-2 thru out the 90 mins was beyond a joke! PLs player selection, substitutions an more importantly tactics have cost us 10 points atleast this season, he really needs to learn from his mistakes

Agree12 Disagree3

The christmas turkey would improve you lot.

Agree3 Disagree2

Deeney has a bent like poachers instinct, but with a work rate to match benteke, he can run at defenders (proved with winning the pen this weekend) and play on the wing too, his versatility and work rate are making pl very interested

Agree2 Disagree9

Villa didn't have the options on the bench against Chelsea is all! We should of have had Vlaar,N'Zogbia,Bent,Agbonlahor , that would have given us options but they are all injured so we couldn't play to our best.

A source close has said lambert sent scouts to leeds v boro today to watch sam byron tom lees and marvin emmnes

Believable5 Unbelievable6

He should be sending the caretaker to B&Q to buy some wood to board up your goal before your next match, on second thoughts, NO, it's was great entertainment, especially the comedy factor.

Agree5 Disagree2

I'm sure scouts go watch every team at some point or another

Agree5 Disagree0

I wanna see Lescott an capoue signed in jan, both would give us some much needed steel an aggression. Scg87

Asmir begovic has caught the eye of a number of clubs with stokes sterness at the back west ham are in and shay given is goin to replace him

The truth

Believable2 Unbelievable6

The man Pulis thinks is amazing? Can't see him being sold & Stoke can't afford Given's wages. He's more likely to join Celtic.

Agree4 Disagree3

Who will replace shay at villa then? Seigrist is a quality youngster but i dunno if he'd be ready to replace guzan if he has a knock or gets injured

Agree2 Disagree1

Why would Celtic want given? They have Forster who's a quality keeper

Agree8 Disagree1

After the Chelsea game the only thing a Villa keeper needs to be good at is bending down, picking the ball from the back of the net, then throwing it forward for the re-start...........no proper training for this position is required as they will soon get the hang of it.

Agree4 Disagree4

Guzan was good against Chelsea & has been the only constant performing keeper this year (minus Cech).
he can be our keeper for the next 10 years or so! Siegrist will be ready in about 5 years to take on the role , til then we need a semi-decent keeper to be 2nd if Given leaves.

Any truth in villa looking at glenn murray??

Believable4 Unbelievable10

Can't see it, hardly fits in with Lamberts young and hungry player description.

Agree6 Disagree1

Lambert not that naive that he want all young players, I expect if bent goes he will get a experience goal scorer to guide others.

Agree6 Disagree1

Murray is only experienced when it comes to the lower leagues so he'll hardly be the experience we need.
It would be a strange buy if that happens

24 year old DM Adilson Tavares Varela is supposedly on Villa's radar after being watched, Celtic are also apparently interested.

Believable5 Unbelievable9

21 Dec 2012 20:55:39
Apparently there is a rumour Villa are set to pull off a massive coup by signing a 10 mil plus rated player, no idea who? but apparently Lambert has been backed to go ahead with the move, all speculation but some people seem to think it may well be a flair type player, Capoue or Honda would be nice!

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Are you the phantom fantasist poster?

A playmaker when the spine of the team is weak, brittle and in need of muscle? Don't buy it.

Agree4 Disagree3

Try and find out mate would like to know

Agree1 Disagree2

Think it might be Ivan Perisic of Dortmund, its been talked about on a few villa fansites over the last week.

Agree1 Disagree5

Would much prefer Younes Belhanda. A vastly superior player and only £10m, a bargain if ever I saw one

Agree3 Disagree0

I agree would be a amazing purchase, but there is interest fro higher clubs like Tottenham, Arsenal etc , I think Wijnaldum is more realistic but equally impressive

Agree2 Disagree0

Perisic is a good player but I too want Belhanda

Agree1 Disagree1

Your thinking too much were more likly to sell bent and then buy championship players likee ince or zaha

Agree1 Disagree1

Not with interest from the big clubs for those two, but Redmond would be good but I don't think he is ready yet

Agree1 Disagree3

Yes but we have to think 'bigger' especially after the Chelski routed us

Agree0 Disagree0

To think we could have signed ince an Zaha for less than £5m at the start of the season lol Now look, they wouldn't even speak to us now there being chased by the 'big' clubs

Villa are looking at signing robben as a replacement for albrighton

Believable3 Unbelievable18

Oh pleasssseee! I've really heard it all now. Utter rubbishe

Agree12 Disagree2

Arjen robben of bayern munich? you having a laugh!
We have NO chance of signing him!

Agree11 Disagree2

Oh yeh of course we're going to spend dozens of millions on Robben.
Firstly why do we need a replacement for Albrighton, and secondly why we he come to villa?

Agree8 Disagree1

I was a fan of albrighton but his progress is slow or more to the point he's gone backwards an I don't think i've seen albrighton have a good game in 2 years, that's probably why we should think about moving him on.

Robben as his replacement?? Lmfao
No chance! Even if Robben wanted to come to villa, I don't think PL would take him cus he's not a team player, has a massive ego an bad temprement

Agree12 Disagree1

To be fair if you want a replacement for Albrighton just play Carruthers just as fast and can use both feet equally instead of cutting into to Albrightons favoured foot

Agree6 Disagree0

Albrighton is not good enough and can no longer be classed as a promising youngster. Plus if PL is to stick with 3-5-2 then there is no place for albrigton as he would not cut it as a wingback. Id be happy to get rid

Would you actually put another teams youngster over Benteke or Wieman or any other striker we sign in January, why would to imrove another teams player when ours are on top goal scoring form?

Best team in the midlands surely has to be West Brom on current form......look at the table. Villa fans, please stop living in the past.

Agree0 Disagree1

Oh god a WBA fan on here now how sad I mean I never look at the crap they might be going for, and to say on current form let me think how many games you lost in a row??

Agree2 Disagree0

Benteke would stay with us for first team football?? lol. Would he not start for arsenal? Would he not start for Chelsea? I think he would!

Agree8 Disagree1

When people say villa fans live in the past then say WBA have better form, what is form, a rating of you played in your PAST game. Fool. At the end of the day the man who has no history will always be jealous of the man who does. We are and always will be the biggest club in the midlands.

Aston Villa are also said to be keen on the Seagulls star, who started his career at Chelsea. Liam Bridcut

Bridcutt is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to agree a new deal at Brighton

Villa also resigning former youth player Forrester

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Bridcutt is a good player with lots of potential

Agree6 Disagree1

I think we need a new centre back and a new centre defensive midfield. what do other people think and who have we been linked with to fill those positions

Agree3 Disagree2

I must question where he would fit in?

Most likely answer = Bench

Agree3 Disagree1

We should get Fuego, would be very good value for money, and is a defensive midfeilders or a centre back

Agree1 Disagree2

More centre backs? Just one to replace Dunne.
Baker & Clark are great , also Vlaar.
With Lichaj & Lowton also able to play Centre back.

Agree4 Disagree3

Lichaj cant play cb he plays RB, LB, RWB or LWB. When has he ever played CB

Agree2 Disagree5

Um...against WBA and Norwich...

Agree4 Disagree1

Um... We drawn both

Agree3 Disagree2

Look, lichaj is not a CB, I wouldn't want him to play CB in my Sunday league team lol

Both milner and downing back to the villa in jan

Believable3 Unbelievable26

This is completly against lambert's policy- bringing in young hungry talent - not players like downing!

Agree18 Disagree4

Villa have stated they wont go for a cut price downing.

But Milner would be welcome any day cant see it happening though

Agree18 Disagree3

I'm not one of them fans who hates downing for leaving although the way he left leaves a bitter taste, I would happily take downing an milner back but I can't see PL signing downing or milner even if they are available, an PL does like to sign 'young an hungry' players but PL has already said he now intends to sign players with experience, which I hope is the case because I think experience is all we're missing to ensure our survival in the prem an pivotal to us moving up the table

I think I'm the only villa fan that doesn't mind him. A loan to a championship club to get a season under his belt before he try's to get himself in the first 11 is vital for his villa career

Agree11 Disagree2

You can have him for free.
I think even Crawley's players are better!

Aston Villa are monitoring the impressive form of Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason.

Manager Paul Lambert has been alerted to the performances of the Iceland forward, 23, who has scored 12 goals in 14 Eredivisie games this season.'

Believable22 Unbelievable4

Great result today! But we still need to build on this, an hopefully with a
2 maybe 3 quality experienced players in jan we'll be around mid table come the end of the season.

What players would you want PL to sign in January??

Agree11 Disagree2

We dot NOT need another striker! benteke and weimann upfront is fine as the 3-1 win today showed us. in january we only need to buy derek boeteng then we will be fine.

Agree7 Disagree12

Don't want that Derek Boeteng, Lambert will bring in a good, cheap, hungry championship defender. Need to get that Will Hughes from Derby, the midfield looks soft.

Agree3 Disagree5

Will Hughes is a brilliant young player, but at 17yo it's unfair to expect him to come in an solve our midfield problems. We need experience! Scg87

Agree13 Disagree1

Call comes in for Jean Makoun?

Agree11 Disagree5

Offload Bent & bring in Charlie Austin.
Weimann can finish like Bent but can do better finishes.
Austin would just add that little more competition to Weimann directly.

LambertMyLord

Agree7 Disagree13

Will Hughes would definately sort it. Him and bannan would boss it and he's English so 5-6 years on could be 30mil plus. Top of my transfer list for January. Lets get him before man utd do

Agree6 Disagree11

It is a bit naive to think a 17 year old kid playin in the championship will 'sort' our problems out. Capoue an sissoko would be perfect, maybe I'm being to ambitious tho

Agree15 Disagree3

Aubameyang and Wijnaldum?

Agree17 Disagree1

They would be very good, relatively young and 24 goals and 13 assists between them.

Agree4 Disagree1

Feguo would add more physical strength, good tackler and a 7.1 interception per game average, can play as CM DM or CB, and could be picked up cheap because Rayo are not in a good financial situation.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah let's not go for a future England star and get a couple of foreign unproven players in their mid twentys. We don't need to sort anything out we need to build for the future.

Agree0 Disagree1

No 1 said we shouldn't try to sign Hughes! But to expect him to come in an solve our problems is ridiculous. He will be a top player but not for 3-4 years, we need players for now, we have to many youngsters with to much pressure on them so experience is needed. Scg87

Agree0 Disagree22

I see it being a draw 1-1 but Liverpool are not looking great at the moment so I'm optimistic of a win, the 3points are there for the taking so if we're positive when we have the ball and aggressive when we don't have the ball then our chances of a win are good. Scg87

Agree11 Disagree5

Well no one saw what happened today. I have very high hopes for the close future let alone the far future.

Agree1 Disagree8

I think people now need to learn to fear our rath!

LambertMyLord

Agree8 Disagree5

Rumour has it Wenger was at the match at Anfield and is very much interested in Taking Benteki away from Villa for around £8 mil

Agree0 Disagree12

Haha
Wenger wants benteke for £8m?!? Lol
we paid £7m for him! Wenger would have to pay £25m-£30m to get him in jan, if wenger thinks £8m will get him benteke, then maybe wenger really is deluded! Lmfao. Scg87

Agree15 Disagree0

Benteke will not be going anywhere in jan anyway as he has played for Genk and villa this season. So according to FIFA rules he can not play for another team this season.

Agree2 Disagree10

Why have people disagreed to the above comment?? Morons

Agree0 Disagree3

Maybe your the person lol!
People have disagreed because the FIFA rule is "A player can't play for 3 clubs in 1 season" an if I'm not wrong benteke has played for 2 clubs this season, so benteke IS able to play for another club. I'm sure Ed will correct me if I'm wrong? Scg87

Agree4 Disagree1

Eh?? If a player can't play for 3 clubs a season and he has played for 2 already another club would make it 3?? So he can't play for another team till the season is over.. At least when I went to school 2+1 was 3. Or am I missing something?

Derek boeteng to decide on 2million transfer between villa and Fulham. Watch this space

Believable12 Unbelievable2

We do not need Derek Boeteng, we have plenty of capable central midfielders. What we need is another centre back and a striker

Agree3 Disagree15

I disagree perhaps some more experience is needed at the back but we are most in need of creativity. An attacking midfielder or wide player that can unlock defences

Agree10 Disagree1

Phfff we certainly do not need another striker, we 6 including delfonso. We need a experience cb a direct winger and mid who can turn defence into Attack

Agree7 Disagree2

I think we need a good DM midfield battler, a ball winner, who likes the physical side of the game who likes to tackle, which we don't have at the moment, tackling is not Irelands bannan an Westwoods strongest attributes which I think has been a big problem for us this season, an if we had a good DM then it would let westwood bannan an Ireland to concentrate on creating chances rather than defending Whether or not
D. Boateng is the answer only time will tell. Scg87

Agree14 Disagree2

Now that ba isnt signing a new contract we have been linked with a swap deal. Bba for Bent an 5milll for us

Agree4 Disagree1

Would be a great deal for us to get Ba!
But £80k p/w?

Agree8 Disagree3

The only thing I will say about this proposed swap deal which has come from nowhere.

Ba has scored 5x as many goals as bent this season all be it bent has been missing how many games and is now injured again. If we could get a straight swap I would be happy.

As for the wages if we climb up the table they would only be an issue amongst the team as the difference would be quite large compared to say benteke or westwood.

Agree4 Disagree2

We have no problem with wages randy Lerner has over 600milion just sitting there, but if we do pay ba 60,000-80,000 a week other players will want higher wages

Agree5 Disagree6

We don't have a problem with wages?up until 6months ago 90percent of our revenue was going to wages which is the second highest in the prem. Not sure what it is now (probably decreased now) but we still have bent on £80k aweek Ireland £70k aweek dunne £40k aweek Given £50k aweek an none of them are playing or rarely play. We won't be paying more than £40k aweek for any player we sign in the future, maybe for 2 more seasons.

Lior Refaelov, Simon Kjaer and Dale Stephens are all names being mentioned from various sources, Refaelov on loan is apparently as good as done.
----------------------------------------------------
Who are these players, age, poditions, clubs they play for, there form this season

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Refaelov (26) plays for Club Brugge, an Israeli attacking mid was voted 'player of the year' when playing in Israel for Maccabi Haifa, had to wikipedia him as I've not heard of him myself? stats look ok.

Simon Kjaer is a Danish CB, I've herd this rumour linking us before, I'm sure he was touted as the next big thing at one point? played for that Italian club who have a pink kit, he either had a really good world cup or a really bad one, can't remember?

Not sure about Dale Stephens either, but remember we were in for him at the start of the season apparently.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is said to be taking an interest in 17-year-old Serbian youngster Filip Jankovic.

Attacking midfielder Jankovic has been selected already for the Red Star Belgrade first-team and is thought to be a big talent for the future.

Roma are rumoured to be looking at the £3m rated youngster with other clubs likely to join the chase too.

darren bent will join liverpool with downing goin the other way watch this space

Believable9 Unbelievable18

Would only take downing if he agreed to like 35-40,000 wage highest on his contract. Anythin above hes not worth and we have zog, albrighton, gabby, bannan, weimann and others can play either wing so hes not desperately needed.

Agree9 Disagree10

Well i thought downing was great for villa i think he would take a pay cut to come back i think it would be a great move on villas part!

Agree13 Disagree8

As Kop still owe us £10m for Downing & We'd want more for Bent than a misfiring Downing , I think they'd have to pay about £5m-£10m ontop which makes it not going to happen.

Agree10 Disagree11

Bent wants out of villa why have a player who wants to leave get the deal done in my opinion

Agree9 Disagree5

Downing played far better for us on the wing than albrighton,N'zogbia and Holman.
were just pissed off by the way he left but i'd rather have him playing for us on 60k a week than that crock N'zogbia who is on 60k and cant cross a ball cant score and hardly plays.

If Downing came back he'd win us all over with in 6 home games

Agree10 Disagree7

N'Zog hasn't planned for a month because of injury! he's back now & hopefully will re-start his villa career like gabby.

Agree4 Disagree3

Who ever said bent wanted to leave!?as far as I'm concerned PL has done everythin possible to force bent out! An if bent did want to leave, then who could blame him?? He's done his job at AV an scored goals which is exactly what we wanted, a goal scorer, an now look how he's being treated.

If I was any player who was about to sign for AV with PL as manager I'd think twice cus he doesn't treat players with much respect

Aston Villa looking at Max Gradel, Derek Boateng and Christopher Samba this january

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Would only take Samba , on his day , he'd partner Vlaar fantastically!

Samba must be earning a £150k a week so we havnt got any chance of signing him

Mushaga Bakenga apparently passed on the chance to join Villa, instead joining Club Brugge - don't be surprised if we go back in for him in a year or so.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Bakenga is a fine young winger , would be a nice addition.

Agree9 Disagree1

Rekon we've missed the boat on this one! can see him ending up at one of the top German teams or on massive wages in Russia, looks a real talent.

Anthony Limbombe ekango would be a better signing from bentekes old club. Good mates to I hear

Villa are set to sign AZ striker Jozy Altidore.
The America has a record of one goal every 2 games and could partner Benteke perfectly.
Bent looks set to stay & will have to fight for his place.
Expect the sale of Richard Dunne in January & 2 new centre back's.

LambertMyLord

Believable7 Unbelievable13

Whilst on loan at Hull he couldn't hit a barn door! 1 goal in 28 doesn't excite me much!

Play Bent, the bloke is a goal machine...simples

Villa till I die.

Agree15 Disagree4

Benteke does not chase much also bent does not chase much pairing both up front would be a disaster for our you midfield and defence. That's why gabby would get the nod he might not be the best at finishing but he keeps defenders on their toes. Gabby is also relatively versatile he can operate on lw and track back a little. Correct me if I'm wrong but can you see bent doing that?

Agree10 Disagree1

I take your point about chasing back, but goals are a must in the premier league and Bent's average warrants a place.

Agree7 Disagree3

Yes I suppose but I wouldn't play bent on his own up front over benteke he just offers so much more in that formation. If we had better wingers we would be mid table

Agree5 Disagree2

For me, strikers are there to score goals, tracking back is a bonus, not somethin we should require from a striker who is as prolific as bent. Scg87
