Pl has made a last min move to bring in Sinclair off city and Jay spearing off Bolton as the cleaverly deal looks unlikely unless it's a loan. Wages are a problem. Also asked about colman off Everton but don't see that deal coming off. I've also herd a rumour that if we could pull it off a big money signing for the number 9 shirt could happen. The name in the frame is wilfrid bony from Swansea in a 17 mil deal.

Believable5 Unbelievable15

Ive heard the big money no9 is flying in from Colombia.

Agree4 Disagree7

Carlos Bacca, Colombian number 9? And Cleverley no longer a wage problem with United willing to pay him to leave. No big players leaving today.

Agree8 Disagree6

Jason puncheon and Tom cleverly to sign by the end of the window

LVG to make a last minute swoop to take Ron Vlaar to MUFC.

Based on nothing more than gossip I have heard from no single reliable source.

I hope it isn't true.

Believable6 Unbelievable15

No need he is signing Daley Blind

Agree5 Disagree7

Why sign a blind player? he'd need a dog to find the tunnel!

Agree24 Disagree8

Daley Blind is a left back. An offer will come in tomorrow on deadline day

Vlaar deal to MU is no where near. if he goes it will be to Southampton who don't want to meet our valuation.

Hearing a rumour that we are interested in signing Micah Richards nominal fee banded around especially as he has been told not in City's plans. Cover at centre or right back

Believable9 Unbelievable11

Lost his way in the last couple of seasons, still a versatile, talented option

Agree25 Disagree0

30 Aug 2014 17:02:10
would be better than all our defenders except RV

Agree3 Disagree8

30 Aug 2014 18:17:31
Richards is a quality player just hasn't been given a chance in the Manchester city team. He would only cost about £2-4 million but it is just his wages and Sinclair wouldn't be a bad shout either.

Agree2 Disagree5

{Ed030's Note - I don't rate Richards, He's a big physical presence but his positioning, tackling and technical ability are not the best. However, He is versatile and is better than any current options so it wouldn't be a terrible transfer. }

01 Sep 2014 11:23:42
Not a chance on this happening. Micah is going to Fiorentina on deadline day

01 Sep 2014 15:47:42
richards is in Italy looking at Fiorentina and Roma. I reckon he will end up at the latter because of Cashley Cole!!

Just a couple of rumours.
Lerner re-energised about villa and is ready to push on with the club.

Then there's a rumour that Villa have in fact being sold hense the cash injection Sanchez (possible Cleverley) and will be announced when the window closes (don't see why that matters)

Believable12 Unbelievable11

I can only imagine that the reason a sale would be kept quiet is to avoid having to pay ridiculous money for players just because other teams know you have money to spend. As it goes, I seriously doubt we have been sold but Lerner must have realised that he has to invest to keep us in the prem to make us seem desirable to potential buyers. The Championship doesn't appeal to fans or owners/potential owners.

Agree10 Disagree5

I disagree. A perfect time for a buyer to invest in villa would have been this summer. Three brushes with relegation for a club like villa would have been the ideal time for a perspective owner to come in and purchase villa on the cheap (in relative terms). Unless of course somebody with billions wishes to come in and just chuck money at the club, in which case all economics go out of the window. If we have a decent season now (say, we finish top half) what would you expect learner to value the club next season? We would be no more appealing to a perspective new owner than we were this summer.

Agree10 Disagree3

The economics of a takeover would mean that any buyer would have to prove that they can "pay" the agreed amount.
Remember the recent sale of a major club?
I think that it was discovered that they had not got all of the money and were going to pay back a loan from money that came in through the commercial side of the business.
A billionaire cannot come straight in and spend silly money as under the fair play rule a club can only invest money taken in, not just because the owner wants to buy a player.
This actually favours the current top 6/7 clubs that have sold players for huge money and are then able to use that money plus what comes through the tills.
Presently AVFC are not selling players, they are giving them away, and not much money is coming through the tills.
I don't like Lerner but he is operating under "strict" rules layed down by Platini who was conned by the big clubs into setting the spending rules. The big clubs were already taking in huge money so the knew that they were Ok under the spending rules.
The lesser clubs, our AVFC, have to improve commercially to generate money and perhaps that is why we have changed our "money man" taking him from Gunners.
Even though Gunners have not won anything they have earned £30/50m just by getting into the group stages in Europe and that is where a club must get to spend big money.
Arguably if we sold Vlaar & Big Ben and got in £40m+ we could spend £70m+.
But that scenario we don't want to see!!

Agree4 Disagree10

I agree that this summer would have been a perfect time for a new owner as they would have had time to assess the team and then buy the needed players. But I don't believe we would have been cheaper because of the recent struggles in the league; we all heard that Lerner still wanted £200 million for the club, probably because he wants to try and recoup some of the money he has spent and because he still views villa as a big club. In terms of history, tradition and fan base I agree with this but on field we are not a big club. I think a club like Everton are more appealing as they wouldn't cost too much, they have a great history and they are performing at a much higher level and have a strong base that they can build on. Should we become a consistent mid table club I can see Lerner valuing us at £250 million and price wise we will be less appealing but all owners are businessmen nowadays and they want results with as little investment as possible; we'll need less money if we're mid table than we would if we were in the lower echelons of the league.

Agree4 Disagree3

My main worry with the whole takeover and money to spend is this;given the track record of lamberks tranferdealings to date would any real investortrust the man to get the right signings in, or would we field eleven lunars evey week he could well blow the onlyrealnce of propelling the club to where we dream it could go, improving the stadium, record attendancies- anyone remember 1981 the ground bounced on its foundations, EVERY

Agree27 Disagree5

Why are posters being disrespectful to PL?
The guy has been told what to do and is doing it. He has not had much money to spend and to some what has bought in some good signings.
Vlaar, Okore and Benteke are all excellent buys, Cissoko & Sanchez are still to be seen and yes most of the others are questionable.
Buy when you have instructions that you must buy cheap and develop you can't shop at W'rose you have to go to Al. I and sometimes you get a bargain.
When name calling I maintain that you should look in a mirror first and see what you see, sometimes it is yourself.

Agree8 Disagree11

30 Aug 2014 17:10:33
Hi Oldvillian you must love PL its not just his buys its tactic, have you seen a game at villa park were we have played well under PL and Okore has yet to prove himself

Agree4 Disagree4

I don't have any "feelings"for PL, I simply believe that he has followed the directive given to him from "above. " We are not the only team that you could direct your comments about play, try ManU at present, but we have played some good football at times. I know it is not what we want and it will not be until sufficient money be given to the manager regardless of who it might be, but at the moment it is PL. Try and put yourself in his place. Doing what he is instructed yet having fans screaming for him to go. When he was at Canary land they played some good stuff and many fans were delighted when he came to AVFC. I like to think that given the opportunity with real money, he may well produce the goods.

Bid reported (by Sky) for Cleverly. Bid accepted and believed to be around £8m. Nothing to say personal terms are agreed but sounds promising and suggests there is money for a decent player at least!
Add another wide player with Grealish coming in to the team and things could be looking up!

Believable11 Unbelievable8

If true seems the 10mil stated to spend on fees and wages for players this window was off.

Agree11 Disagree6

No no no no no no. please, anyone but him

Agree6 Disagree10

28 Aug 2014 19:21:58
omg what a waste of money on an average at most / player which I and many have never rated

Agree6 Disagree11

He's had one bad season and that automatically makes him a bad and overrated player? I don't think so, he would be very good signing, and to be fair I'd rather him than Westwood. Champions league and international experience is very welcome.

Agree9 Disagree2

With him Delph and Sanchez in the middle it would give us a solid midfield, he is defiantly Prem class and AF saw something good in him?. . Maybe it's a good move for him!

Agree6 Disagree2

Ferguson saw something in Djemba, Djemba as well!
It has nothing to do with it

Agree6 Disagree4

If Cleverly was a prospect then Van Gaal would be keeping him and Hodgson would select him for England.
For £8m PL could go abroad and get a talented midfield master.

Agree1 Disagree11

I AM FED UP OF HEARING THE PATHETIC simperings over grealish, he's a player who could disappear int the same mediocre place that previous young players were expectedstop banging on about him, let him grow and if he is the messiah people IMAGINE he is all the good, but based on what I've seen of the boy, and I've seen him a lot, he is a long, long way off being half a good player, people talk on here about him as though he has 200 appearancies, 100 goals and 40 odd caps to his name. in short, leave him alone

Agree27 Disagree1

01 Sep 2014 15:52:18
WARVILLIAN. I agree 100% with your comments about Grealish. The problem we have is converting our academy/youngsters to the "next level". when I say that I mean your Walcott/Bale/Shaw where you get the big bucks for them. and we don't have anyone anywhere near that level. To be honest I can't see anything coming out of our academy for a while :(

Agree9 Disagree2

Thanks grea reply and100 percent right, nothing has come through since kevin McDonald left the lub

Agree14 Disagree5

Scott Parker refuses to leave London and he's past it now anyway

It's been a bit quiet lately. Anyone know of any transfer in and out of the club happening?

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Only thing i've seen recently is Feynoord have bid to take El Ahmadi back to Holland. Probably for pennies but better to get rid of desd wood, especially if he wants out.

Agree13 Disagree3

26 Aug 2014 10:52:07
Surprised to hear Gardner's gone to Brighton for the season. Only real striker cover we had after Benty. Perhaps someone is coming in?

Agree1 Disagree18

Gardner is a central midfield player Dru

Agree9 Disagree14

26 Aug 2014 15:30:20
Gardner would be our best midfielder given some playing time PL you are a idiot, Westwood nowhere near his class Cole won't cut it Richardson Sendross will be found out, Fulham went down and did not want then and when will we play some good football, Fed Up

Agree1 Disagree17

I think I'm probably going to be in the minority here, but I really do not get the fuss that a lot of villa fans make over Gardner. I know he was injured last year, but he is 22 now. In this day and age that is old enough to have broken into the first team by now. And I would say if he hasn't done it by now then he probably won't. I've seen him play and yeh, he looks ok. But if he was good enough, he would've been pushing hard for the first team before last season when he was injured. PL wouldve given him the chance. Grealish is 18 and is breaking into the first team bit by bit. And not looking out of place I might add. we've had so many false dawns with youth players being overhyped and overrated, craig gardner was the same, and don't forget the Moore brothers! Gary, in my opinion, is the same. He might carve out a career as a dependable premier league player eventually, but he isn't the next big thing that most villa fans seem to be pinning their hopes on.

Agree17 Disagree5

Come on jk, PL is not an person but he is the manager of AVFC and is doing a reasonable job under severe restrictions on finance.
Senderous was picked by BBC pundits into the prem. team of the week so he cannot be that bad.
If you were a Man U supporter I could understand your attitude but it is a bit early to be slagging off the manager because he allows a talented player out on loan to give him game time but he will be back come January.
Wake up, smell the flowers, as at the moment they are quite sweet.

Agree12 Disagree8

What a load of shit, at least get facts correct.
Fulham wanted, but couldn't afford.
Senderos was in Italy, and Richardson, when fit was one if a few bright sparks.
Gardener is only there until jan, purely for game time.

We are villa fans, grow up and get behind the team. If you can't do that, at least give us the respect if actually doing your home work, and not just talk wank

Agree17 Disagree2

I think you make a good point Lovespud
As poor a judge of a player as I think Lambert is in terms of buying players, I doubt even he could overlook a class act that was under his nose
Perhaps Gardner is really not showing it in training

Agree9 Disagree9

The loan move makes sense in my opinion. The boy needs match time. If he can prove himself in League 1 then he will come back a better player. I also thought it was only a 4 month loan.

Agree7 Disagree7

Agree love spud but villajk what do you want more from villa at the moment. It sounds like your expecting us to win the league or something. Westwood is a much better player than Gardner, in fact how often has Gardner actually played? Maybe 5 starts as a guess. I don't see how you can call Paul lambert an person when you have seen him in a few games and he sees him every day in training. All lambert sis trying to do is help his career get back on track by giving him some game time. Us and tottemham are the only tea, s not to have conceded and we have 4 points from our first two games. AND YOU STILL can't FIND ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY. Fans like you really do make me laugh sometimes

Agree8 Disagree5

Sorry, Championship not League 1, oops.

Agree4 Disagree2

Gardner given the chance would be a very good player. Better now than all the midfielders except Delph.
Hopefully he will come back fit in January and get straight into the squad.

Agree3 Disagree11

Gardner is a quality player and will be but the first thing is for him to get some consisent competitive football under his belt. After he has done that he can think about breaking into the Villa team. He has had too many injuries during the start of his career but Brighton could be the right step for him and when he comes back he may become a better player and learn from his experience there.

Agree4 Disagree8

I agree with this loan move for gardener. This will really help him step up by getting some playing time. Look at how it helped players like Sturridge, wellbeck and courtois.

Agree4 Disagree7

27 Aug 2014 15:43:26
Lets give it a few more games and see ,say 8,, PL is a person as was AM But both are bad managers imo ,Flackie or wank talk ,Fulham did not want sendross or Richardson to old glad to get off the wage bill, I support Villa want them to play well Good attractive football I don't expect us to win anything , watching good football only

Agree4 Disagree5

29 Aug 2014 18:44:05
given the performance of lamberk in the foreign market I think we'll be fielidig 9 lunas one balaban and a djembe djembe every week the mans a buffoon wouldn't let him loose in a Calais hypermarket, with a fiver never min d buying some of the nobodies people keep posting about

Agree16 Disagree1

Going backto the gardner issue it'll be interesting how he can stay fitand not have his own allocated chair in the physio room like he did at villa park

Agree12 Disagree0

22 Aug 2014 16:17:46
Hearing the name Wilson Palacios ringing out. Seeing it in the online press also. I've never payed any attn to this midfielder. Any good? I do know that Stoke didn't use him last season and did pretty good. Another castaway? Is he a box to box midfielder? Enlighten me please. We need a real creative fiery spark to light up the run into the final third imo and I don't see this guy comin close to that even with my limited knowledge of him. Wheres our Argie Bargie attacker we were hearing about? Up the Villianous!
PS Is Tom Fox a spy? :)
We need Chadli and/or Holtby or Lestienne. Another Belgian would cement Benteke to us giving him something to mull over when agents come a calling.
UpTV!

Believable7 Unbelievable11

It was in the Honduran press that villa were in for him so not sure how true it is, as for the other players you mentioned let's see if our new ceo can pursued them to come

Agree3 Disagree9

23 Aug 2014 14:16:16
hi ed seeming alan hutton has played well in the 2 league games so far this season do you guys think he deserves a long run in the team now and I know for certain how good he was at his best for rangers I remember when scotland played italy a few years back I have never seen anyone get as kicked in that game as much as alan hutton did the italians were scared of him going forward.

Agree10 Disagree5

24 Aug 2014 12:18:02
Anyone else heard the Jay Spearing rumour?

Agree5 Disagree7

As far as hutton goes he showing more than lowton did last season, why did we sell Warnock just after being voted player of the season, maybe eft back would have been better covered and we'd not have had to watch the likes of Bennett instead

Agree19 Disagree0

20 Aug 2014 16:50:25
Brighton to sign Joe Bennett on season long loan. As happy as i'd be to see him go please don't let this mean we'd get Riise seems pointless!

Believable14 Unbelievable5

I'd hope Cissokho first choice with Richardson as backup and Stevens for emergencies. REALLY don't need Riise.

Agree11 Disagree4

I'm still not to sure if we are actually in for him, all the reports say he said we had been in touch along with other teams, but he hadn't had any firm offers, believe into it what you will I personally don't think it will happen

Agree8 Disagree3

I agree, we may have enquired about Riise before we bought Cissokho, not needed now. Riise probably desperate for a Premier League club and is using Villa to generate interest elsewhere. Hopefully!

Agree6 Disagree3

Any truth to the rumors that Geoff Cameron and seb Blanco will be signed tomorrow?

Agree1 Disagree11

Nothing on those 2, however palacios of stoke has been linked today, not sure how much truth in it just have to wait and see

Agree1 Disagree9

Can he borrow coles zimmerframe he'd need one, or an old mans scooter

Agree21 Disagree0

19 Aug 2014 20:56:14
Villa to appoint arsenals tom fox as chief executive, this is the guy that helped arsenal secure their 170m kit deal with puma, also randy to fund 2 more transfers

Believable14 Unbelievable4

Yes it is in tomorrow's papers. Learner been here for the last two days sorting it out.

Agree9 Disagree4

Would that mean no takeover deal for now?

Agree10 Disagree3

20 Aug 2014 23:06:41
Ask yourself this. If you were Fox, assumably relatively comfortable at Arsenal, would you agree to moving to Villa without assurances over ownership and job stability after six years in a well paid position? This appointment means one of two things 1. Learner has made a u turn, 2. The new owner is soon to be annoinced and already making decisions. The recent change in transfer philisophy also ties in with points 1 and 2 above.

Agree4 Disagree8

SSN confirmed it

Agree3 Disagree4

19 Aug 2014 17:03:24
John Arne Riise saying Villa have bben in contact. Hope we don't take it further we don't need him and could use the wages to fix other positions.

Believable11 Unbelievable4

We don't need him, not sure what we need?

Agree8 Disagree1

Reports online suggesting we are interested in signing Sebastian Blanco from Metalist. 26 year old Argentinian CAM. Villa Park could do with some South American Flair.

Agree12 Disagree5

All riise said was villa along with many other sides had made contact, but nothing concrete, blanco looks like he would spice up our midfield

Agree5 Disagree6

Blanco looks decent, quick tricky 2 footed, yes please.

Agree8 Disagree6

I've supported signings such as senderos and cole as I can see the thought behind those deals and where they could fit in and what they could potentially offer us, but I would be pretty annoyed if we went ahead and signed riise. There is no need for him and he is below the standard that we already have. I suspect he's trying to drum up interest for himself rather than us actually being interested and hopefully it goes no further. I can't see it happening myself.

Agree11 Disagree2

20 Aug 2014 21:06:01
Reading the comment about Villa & South American Flair.
Had to go check cause the old memory is wonky, but can confirm that we have signed a Colombian already. Carlos Sanchez (defensive midfielder) is awaiting International Clearance as far as I have read.

Last season we had (I think) the worst record for losing after taking the lead. IMO PL has looked to address the defense. If we score the goals of last season without conceding, we'll be fine, just fine. if we're lucky, Benteke will come back and score a bundle as well.

Agree6 Disagree2

Yellow socks look silly som claret and blue ones matey

Agree20 Disagree0

18 Aug 2014 07:56:01
Did anybody hear Paul Merson on Super Saturday.
He said Villa win be bought October, November. It would be to late to bring any other players in but we will be bought.

Believable14 Unbelievable13

I heard it, and I also heard him last week suggest we would be relegated. I suspect he knows absolutely no more than any of us.

Agree18 Disagree2

I've just reading that rhianne looking to us or a football team what do we all think about that

Agree1 Disagree6

18 Aug 2014 19:31:45
I've read rhianne looking to buy football team what s
Do we all think about this

Agree0 Disagree10

That was a windup you fool.

Agree14 Disagree3

Already reported that she has eyes for Liverpool, but as that is unlikely she possibly would look elsewhere. Could be interesting when it comes to swapping shirts.

Agree3 Disagree6

She interested in liverpool with jay z

Agree3 Disagree8

I read this rumour to, it said that as Liverpool weren't for sale they would look else where, so they instantly linked them to us as we are for sale, all speculation no concrete evidence to back anything up.

Agree5 Disagree5

Apparently lambert want sebastian blanco looks a tasty little player

Agree3 Disagree7

Rihanna thing is just a joke u persons hahaha shine like a Weimann hahah

Agree7 Disagree7

People like that (more $ than sense) should not be allowed anywhere near English or for that matter European football. If they're so keen then they should get behind U. S Major League Soccer. We need laws protecting our ENGLISH league from parasites and wannabees like them.

ASTON VILLA LINK!

Omar Abdulrahman & Danny Wellbeck one of these a loan deal, might just be a rumour but hey very tasty especially after 0-1 win at Stoke and Sanchez to come in for the poor overweight Nzogbia

Believable0 Unbelievable25

Well done to Lambert on the players he has brought in on a shoestring. Def made us stronger!

Agree20 Disagree2

Who are you? Do you even like football? Clearly know nothing about our team if you think Sanchez will replace nzogbia, two completely different players playing completely different roles!

Agree16 Disagree5

Can see what the fella means. Could push Richardson on the wing and move Delph further up the pitch

Agree6 Disagree13

Abdulrahman would only join on loan if it was with view to a pernament deal. Man United needs all the players they can get at the moment. And for you to say that N'Zogbia is poor is a bit harsh considering the fact that he is a creative player and play well yesterday as did the whole team. Also, Carlos Sanchez wouldn't replace N'Zogbia. N'Zogbia is a flair player, whilst Sanchez is a hard working, tough tacking midfielder.

Agree11 Disagree7

Sanchez will replace westwood in the middle with delph, and when benteke comes back replaces gabby up top and probably cole behind him when fit, also I think there's 1 more player to come, either holtby lennon or sinclair as moses opted to join stoke.

Agree4 Disagree6

Westwood needs to learn to read the game better. He would be fantastic then.

Agree3 Disagree3

Westwood is a real talent no doubt, but he does seem at times to let the game just flow past him, he needs to have more self belief and lern to boss the centre circle area, rather than disappear for half the game

Agree17 Disagree0

15 Aug 2014 17:15:56
Sanchez is a done deal! He won't play vs stoke though.

Believable15 Unbelievable3

The squad gives us options, can play various formations now. another signing of quality would be a blessing.

Apparently a bid has been accepted for. avfc! Takeover could be on!

Agree13 Disagree23

We have not accepted a bid for a takeover its all rumours

It would be all over sports news if it was true

Agree14 Disagree11

15 Aug 2014 12:18:20
TV have just (12. 10pm)announced that fee agreed for Sanchez of £4.5m.
Too late for tomorrow but now looks to be done deal.

Believable10 Unbelievable4

Good to see! Also expecting one more signing before the window closes

Agree7 Disagree2

What tv, channel?

Agree2 Disagree2

Where on TV I have look every where online for this, and no where has the story, I am expecting villa to do a deal with spurs tho

Agree0 Disagree5

Ssn say we have signed sanchez

Agree5 Disagree1

Moses gone off the radar, no mentions anywhere. AV style is to keep quiet until the paperwork is signed so perhaps he could be the next name on the list. The future looks bright, the future is claret & blue. No more excusing the "kids" they are all grown men and the return of the Lerner exiles means that there are several new names at VP, almost a new eleven players.

Agree6 Disagree4

Lets get Holtby from Tottenham now then we can say we are prepared.

Agree6 Disagree7

Hi JK. 4life, a sports channel announced it at 12. 10 pm as stated. Verbal not on line.

Agree3 Disagree7

Would like to see dembele at villa

Agree10 Disagree5

Or Holtby/Lennon/Townsend

Agree7 Disagree7

15 Aug 2014 23:46:12
Lambert should try to get a striker on loan.

Jelle Vossen would be my choice. He can play for Villa with an option to buy the player at the end of this season.

I guess that he would cost £11-14 million. I don't think wages will be a problem, as he earns less than £20k per week at Genk.

Agree3 Disagree4

Great signing and what we have need for quite a few years now we just need a winger and I think we could do with a striker for a 3 months to cover injurys and get benteke and Kozak fully fit before we put them in

Agree7 Disagree3

13 Aug 2014 19:49:09
Iv heard we're in for a spurs player but by the looks of it they've a bomb squad of their own. Take your pick
Finch

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Their bomb squad is a lot better than ours so bring it on

Agree4 Disagree3

It's probably Lennon, Holtby or Naughton.

Agree0 Disagree7

Wrong north london club, we're linked with arsenals gnarby, good youngster however we need experience, seen rumours that Lennon and Townsend aren't wanted by spurs boss as well

Agree3 Disagree5

Naughton looks good for the villa young and decent player, Lennon as well.

Agree1 Disagree12

I'd Take Lennon and Holtby

Agree10 Disagree5

If Townsend isn't wated, les have him at least on loan

Agree20 Disagree5

Apparently benteke has urged Pl to try and sign chadli

Just been reading that according to a website Carlos Sanchez is heading to B6 for a medical, a fee of 6m euros has been mentioned.
Fingers crossed.

Believable15 Unbelievable2

What website is this? I've just read that we have pulled out of the race to sign him.

{Ed001's Note - Sky are reporting he is set to have a medical, but they got it from local press.}

Ssn have confirmed he is having medical either today or tomorrow, we still need players that can cross a ball tho

Agree3 Disagree3

Don't think so, thought we was going after him now.

Agree1 Disagree5

We have pulled out due to financial issues
Villamate

Agree0 Disagree17

Bolton pulled out over a similar problem. But surely AVFC are a better option for Sanchez?

Agree6 Disagree4

Hes signing tomorrow. fees all sorted plus 3rd party ownership

Agree6 Disagree2

Cheers mate :)

Agree0 Disagree1

Local newspaper also reporting Sanchez fliying in for medical as a fee has been agreed with his club and third party owners. Could be just what we need should it materialise.

Agree5 Disagree2

Lots of conflicting reports about the fee. Have seen £1.5 million but also 4.7million!! Its a massive difference for this sort of fee (either half of our budget or a fifth!) so not sure which end of the scale is right.

Agree3 Disagree1

I agree, the reports are way apart, but I've learned the newspaper know nothing, but only time will tell

He is flying in on Sunday hope we get him and then look for a decent shot stopper in goal guzan is to sloppy at times

Agree7 Disagree7

saying having medical on sunday & alex song following next week

Agree4 Disagree11

Problems were all due to 3rd party ownership

Agree4 Disagree3

ALEX SONG!!!! you must be joking!! He would get into any team in the world apart from bayern, barca and real

Agree6 Disagree2

Whoever commented saying we need another keeper, guzan is sloppy, GUZAN WAS A MASIVE PART OF US STAYING UP. MUPPETT

14 Aug 2014 16:53:51
Yeah guzan saved us in the end but if he was that good we wouldn't have needed saving like I said SLOPPY at times

^^^^ That's because our defence was SLOPPY, so the stats show he may have let us down, where in fact it was the opposite

Brad does need some one to fight for a place with to keep him on his toes as shay had the better pre season maybe we should look into getting lindegaard from unt plus we would be desperate if brad was to get a knock and be sidelined!!!

Villas next CEO will be Nicola Cortese former Southampton CEO
Upthevillafc

Believable10 Unbelievable14

Wow we have a CEO! I take it he will have a few billion in his back pocket for us to have a chance of staying up this season? It's a new owner we need who cares about a CEO

Agree6 Disagree14

Hope this is true, as he is a football person unlike faulkner

Agree13 Disagree1

Oooh this is very very interesting!

Agree6 Disagree6

Its a rumour, nothing is confirmed.

Agree4 Disagree6

Cortese is not exactly a football man, he is a business man more notably a swiss banker, but this is very interesting as it signal the beginning of a takeover. With money now being spent this week on cissokho and possibly the colombian DM Sanchez this could indicate Lerner sticking to his word of spending £10-15 mil then leaving around the kick off of the new season.

Agree4 Disagree6

This would be the best thing for villa in a long time!

Agree6 Disagree4

Like this post a lot if true! New CEO new owners

Agree5 Disagree6

Cortese, he is the man who went and found Pottechino for Southampton, he has balls of steel because at the time the current manager was the fans favourite due to their promotion. This guy is just what we need, top class business man and exactly the right fit for CEO. Great as the bridge between the owner and management especially to getting the funds needed. He is a great operator.

Agree3 Disagree2

Hope this is true as surely it would mean new owners are just round the corner

Agree4 Disagree4

Have just read a paper (sun) and it says that any deal to sign Sanchez is off, I'd like to believe their story to be un true, and as the reporter from our game on Saturday didn't know who we were playing, as they put villa 0 Roma 0 I don't think they have a clue

Agree2 Disagree3

And in the Birmingham mail it's saying we are close to signing sanchez

Agree4 Disagree0

Well the same paper now says due to 3rd party owners the deal is close to collapse, also and seen a report we have been linked with Alex song, unless there is a takeover close we cannot afford him

Agree0 Disagree3

Birmingham mail claim deal stumbling due to 3rd party involvement

Agree3 Disagree4

I'd be interested hand on heart how much people know about him. I watched a lot of Spanish football last season including games outside the big 2, and he isn't someone that springs to mind. Columbia games were focusing on James R and not our man. I'm sure that people will be disagreeing for the sake of it, however I'd be interested peoples opinions on the above. Is this another Syilla?? It's the old saying, you get what you pay for!!

Agree7 Disagree4

To say you get what you pay for is ridiculous. Christian Benteke cost us 7mill and we have a top premier league player. We paid just 1 million less for Bosko Balaban and I think the less said about him the better. You can find hidden gems. let's hope this guy is one of them!!

Agree5 Disagree5

Sorry, could you find any other hidden gems through the archives?

Agree3 Disagree3

Recent years for villa.
Mark Delaney £250,000
Martin Laursen £3,000,000
Carlos Cuellar FREE
Other teams.
Patrick Viera £3.5 mill
Van Persie £3 mill
Tim Cahill £1.5 mill
Cantona £1 mill.
Shall I go on!
Also on the other side.
Andy Carroll £35 mill
Torres £50 mill
Veron £28 mill
So as you can see, you don't get what u pay for!! FACT

Agree3 Disagree9

Cuellar cost us about 7m MON signed him?

Looks like Tonev is heading to Celtic, £2m.

Believable5 Unbelievable11

Roy Keane pictured at molineux yesterday watching wolves victory against norwich, I've been told he was watching Danny Batth of Wolves Centre back and his performance justified why we could be there watching him and also he was watching nathan redmond who did not do much but maybe a replacement for tonev who is heading to celtic

Agree7 Disagree5

Or maybe could be a loan move, either way he is at Celtic.

Agree7 Disagree2

Tonev is only on loan to Celtic

Tonev on loan to celtic for season with option to buy for 2m next summer if he impresses ( shouldn't be hard SPL is mickey mouse )

apparently an announcement is due very soon, could well be new ceo, or takeover would be nice!

Believable18 Unbelievable15

How soon?

Agree3 Disagree12

Hopefully, it's been dragging on far to long

Agree9 Disagree5

Its probably Cissokho mate, he is having a medical VP.

villadave

Agree10 Disagree5

I think it will be the signing of Cissokho who is having his medical

Agree12 Disagree5

Or to announce Cissokho!

Agree9 Disagree5

Alright villadave, don't think its the cissokho thing, I've heard that a ceo has been chosen and they are just going through personal things with him. its very strange in the sense that if a buyer were to come in next week, and we've just taken a new ceo on, then who's to say the new owner doesn't have their own ceo in mind? could possibly be that the new ceo IS the new owners choice?

Agree11 Disagree6

You could be right, we will have to wait and see.

Agree9 Disagree3

Does anyone know when this alleged announcement will be made?

Agree2 Disagree4

I would assume it has been made as I'm fairly sure it was to announce the signing of Cissokho and nothing to do with any takeovers.

AVFC have bid for Carlos Sanchez, the CDM from Elche is exactly what we need, a strong player who would be perfect next to Westwood and Delph

Believable18 Unbelievable5

Never heard of him.

Agree9 Disagree6

I don't understand why it is so important for us to have heard of someone for it to be a good signing. Do people not realise that at some point in their career the big name players was unknown. There's just no satisfying some of the fans. We get experience (they are washed up) we get up and coming youth ( never heard of him). Come on guys you need to show more faith. I personally would rather us win games through shear hard work rather than buying the leaugue. rant over haha

Agree10 Disagree2

Tell you what, Sanchez would be a great signing, especially for the position we find ourselves in at the minute, QPR, Everton also rumored for him. I also saw an article saying United were looking to get him in as a squad player. this is a signing i'm really hoping comes off, can see him having a Benteke'esque impact, as in a few great seasons and seeing his valuation rocket. ps i'm also quite behind the Cissokho move, hoping they both come in, then I wouldn't be too dis-heartened if that was all our business, although i'd love another forward

Agree5 Disagree4

Dannybronx has a legit point what about benteke and bacuna

Agree8 Disagree2

Those were two good young signings but there have been way too many unsuccessful young signings to make us loose confidence eg tonev, bowery, helenius, sylla, Bennet and Luna. It's not surprising no one wants any more unknown youngsters

Agree5 Disagree5

You Can not count Helenius, the guy was never given a chance was he.

Agree10 Disagree1

The young signings mentioned were not given enough time. Sub appearances are not a fair crack of the whip. Agree that some of them have not hit the ground running but then again the lack of senior players around them cannot have helped

Agree8 Disagree2

I said I've never heard of him but I didn't say that this was a bad thing.
My point is that I just can't agree with the excitement of the post above and pretend to be happy with a potential signing that I've never heard of. And just because the player is good on Football Manager or YouTube doesn't mean he will be good in real life.

Agree2 Disagree2

People seem to be talking about this guy as if he is a young up and coming player who has the potential to increase in value over the years. the guy is 28.

Agree5 Disagree2

Regardless of his age, he'd still be a welcomed signing, people say we need a CDM then when we are linked with one they complain, I don't understand.

Agree7 Disagree3

It's almost impossible for 4-5 young players to be successful when all are playing together an learning at the same time, I'd say the players signed have ability and potential but playing them in an already struggling team an expecting them to perform is unrealistic.

>Scg87

Agree9 Disagree2

Why is 28 old? I can't believe that anyone thinks that a 28 year old has little future. Think about Gerard, Lampard, Barry, all in the twilight but able to do a job. In some areas of sport 28 is reaching maturity, both in strength and mind. Just reflect that men start to grow up at 30 when our brain rules our body rather than our balls ruling our brain. Ask any women, they all know.

Agree8 Disagree3

When I mentioned sanchez being 28, I didn't mean it as a bad thing. i'm aware 28 is aften when players start to come into ther prime and heaven knows we could do with some experience and presence in our midfield.

I only mentioned his age as is seemed the tone of the debate was about him as an up and coming youngster, which he isnt

Agree7 Disagree2

He also had a solid World Cup for Columbia, I would welcome this deal with open arms, as it's just what we need, a strong defensive midfielder and at 28 he's seen it all and got the tshirt

TV reporting villa close to wrapping up a deal for alex chisoko who played 15 games for Liverpool last season, from valencia

Believable17 Unbelievable2

Aly not alex! Decent signing I think, reports around the £2million mark.
PL can't be planning to use Richardson at left back then if this is the case?which makes sense as I think he's better further forward.

Agree5 Disagree7

I thought he played at centre back for Liverpool?
Vlaars replacement?

Agree4 Disagree16

If Cissokho is to join Richardson could be deployed as a centre midfielder as he has played there before. But I'm guessing he won't be Number 9. So my question is who are we signing who will become our number 9?

Agree2 Disagree11

Sorry Mendax way off he was used as either right or left wing back

Agree9 Disagree3

Mendax, perhaps you are mixing him up with Sakho who is still at Liverpool and plays centre back?

Agree2 Disagree6

Yep, that's the fellah. Cheers mate
Oh no, does this mean I have to confess to being wrong on something!

Agree2 Disagree5

{Ed007's Note - SSsshhh... you might get away with it. I can delete posts, for a small 'administration' fee of course ;)

Why would you think Richardson would be a number 9? Never played in that position as far as I know. Our number 9's are Benteke and Kozac (once they are fit)

Agree4 Disagree3

The no. 9 shirt is vacant. but that means sweet fa so who really cares.

I will never believe another word mendax says, for me you're in the same folder as kingvilla!

Spanish paper claiming Cissokho to join Villa. Didn't particularly convince on loan at Liverpool last season.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

On a website now too. I maybe wrong, but not a name I have seen linked with us before, and IF true just shows the British Papers haven't got a clue what's going on….

Agree6 Disagree2

It's not a name linked in British papers because villa keeps things quiet when signing players, it's usually when they are close or having a medical the first we hear of it, British paper make it up the never have hard evidence to back it up

Why to people disagree with my posting of the cissokho deal when its on the t, v, and in the local paperssome of the recent users question if they are bluenoses usingOUR site

Aston Villa are linked with 20yr old Brian Lenihan, a full-back from Cork City who is also capable of playing in CM; he is a young prospect who has been backed to be better than Coleman in a couple of years, is performances have attracted interest from Arsenal, Celtic and QPR, however it is rumoured the player would prefer a move to Villa park as they have a great youth development and he would get more play time. If he decides to move to another club villa will turn there attentions to Kelly from Liverpool (loan) who is a RB predominately who can also play CB. another options is Wass who players is trade in Ligue 1 with Evian, he is 25yrs old who can play RB or RW, this rumours have signalled the loan move of Lowton to Middlesbrough, as he is deemed surplus to requirements at AVFC.

Believable3 Unbelievable15

"Great youth development" - When exactly was that? On the day another of our supposedly highly rated youngsters fails to make any impact and signs a 3 year contract with MK Dons!!

Agree9 Disagree2

Caruthers was only rated highly by users of this site

Agree13 Disagree2

In that case, it proves the point even more. He was rated by fans but not the management. However we have produced nobody better in recent years!

Agree3 Disagree8

Daniel Johnson, when he is given a premier league chance will shine. Jack Grealish is starting to get his chance. Both better overall footballers than Carruthers imo.

Rumour that Villa will pull off the surprise signing of Celtic defence Virgil van Dijk, people are saying the deal involves players going the other way, also Victor Moses on loan and the continued pursuit of Ki

Believable6 Unbelievable13

Celtic need van dijk especially after the first leg against legia Warsaw would like ki but he is waiting for arsenal to make an offer and Swansea want to give him a new contract (he won't stay) Moses would also be a good signing but if it takes Jose this long to reply then we may not get him though we are in desperate need of a winger now carruthers is gone if we fail to buy one then we should give Danny o brien a try

Agree7 Disagree11

I am sure Ed will know a bit more on this one?
Have not heard anything about this at all, also I thought the Ki speculation was dead in the water, did he not turn us down.

Agree8 Disagree6

{Ed007's Note - I'd be surprised to see van Dijk sign for Villa, he has been linked with nearly every EPL team so far and the murmurings were he wasn't too keen on moving to Southampton or Newcastle, I have a hunch he would like to get a move to Spurs because they have European football.
Would Villa be willing to pay £8+ million for him and compete with other teams with regards to wages etc?}

05 Aug 2014 22:56:08
Lerner is freeing up £10m to allow Lambert to sign three players, these players are rumoured to be Ki, Moses and Sinclair

Believable4 Unbelievable11

Don't want Sinclair who is quite frankly rubbish the other 2 would be good signings

Agree9 Disagree8

You wouldn't get them 3 for 10 million on your computer!!

Agree7 Disagree9

Moses would be on loan, sinclair would be £4m and key £4.2m so yes you could.

Agree2 Disagree7

I love this the papers say he is over to free up funds, but there is no evidence that why he is here, I've also heard rumours that a takeover is imminent but I'll believe that when I see it

Agree3 Disagree4

There's no takeover and it will be just 10 mil for transfers which means more crap. We will be relegated this season

Agree3 Disagree7

10 million want get you any qualitie players, Moses, Sinclair, really are they good for the villa. don't think so, was at the game last night the main rumour was villa will be sold in 2 weeks and learner going through the process.

Agree1 Disagree3

Why does he need to fly in to release £10m, has he never heard of e-mail, text, phone etc. The papers just talk crap.

Agree5 Disagree1

I agree it's all paper talk so we know nothing for certain but Ki and Moses will definitely strengthen the squad, Moses may not have been as good as he was at Wigan in recent years but he was a small fish in a big pond so to speak, I think he would thrive at Villa, might just be me being optimistic but we shall see what happens! UTV!

Agree5 Disagree4

I have also heard these rumours of a sale taking place right now, and that is why mr Lerner has come to England, the thing is it's all speculation only Lerner his financial advisor and a potential buyer know what's going on, no one else. And that certainly goes for the press, as a private company the owner is no legal right to announce a potential takeover till it is completed. It's not the same when Ellis sold as we were a public company then he had to announce on the stock exchange we were in the process of a take over.

Birmingham fail quoting mk don planning swoop for carruthers

Believable18 Unbelievable1

Ian Taylor said today we cannot compete in the transfer market anymore, and it's true, breaks my heart to see everyone strengthening there side, and their all spending money, we are in deep trouble I just hope RL sees wats going on and spends soon or we will get left behind

Agree10 Disagree3

Pinning your hopes on Randy Lerner smelling the roses will lead to disappointment. He's given us up and is not interested

Agree7 Disagree7

Randy Lerner is not going to wake up soon and invest, he is no longer an investor like before, he is now a seller, any money he spends he will not get back, Until a buyer is found we have what we have. The club is in a better situation than pre Randy, Bodymoor, holte end pub, Stadium, I know we are all frustrated with our current situation but Randy has improved us as a club, We still have some really good players and our great club is not in debt, we will rise again keep the faith chaps. UTv

Agree7 Disagree8

I think we need to sign at least 3 more players. A right and left mid/winger and a solid holding/center midfielder.

Agree4 Disagree11

RL is apparently making £10million available for transfers. Hopefully this will be enough for us to finally get ki sung yueng and moses and maybe even one other.

Agree3 Disagree9

At the game last night crying out for a holding midfielder, read that learner in town to hand over 10 million that's pea nuts also was rumours going round that villa have been sold.!

Juventus have made a 10 million euro offer for Vlaar. looks like we are going to have to start the season with the dreadful lot that's shipping goals left right and centre. Isn't it just wonderful what lerner and his merry men have turned our great club into.

Believable9 Unbelievable11

Vlaar won't go he "loves it at villa" according to Lambo and the prem is a better league apparently

Agree10 Disagree8

Lerner may not have turned us into champions but he invested a lot of money into our club. If you was around when lerner brought our club we was a lot worse off then than we are now hence why he got the club so cheap.

Agree12 Disagree7

Look, cheerful - it doesn't mean we are going to accept a bid just because we receive one.
Clarrie blue.

Agree10 Disagree4

I heard about this Juve bid thismorning, personally I don't believe it, the source doesn't exactly have a good record when it comes to being accurate

>Scg87

Agree7 Disagree8

So, my fellow long suffering Villa fans, as the new season is upon us perhaps it is time for some predictions so I'll start us off -- Villa to finish eighth this season.
I see the top seven as being in order, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton. I see no reason for us to fear any of the other 12 teams and in order I think they will finish as Newcastle in 9th place then Stoke, Swansea, Sunderland, Hull City, Southampton, West Ham, Crystal Palace, West Brom, then Leicester, Q. P. R. and Burnley as the bottom three for relegation. Any thoughts, anyone?
Clarrie Blue.

Agree5 Disagree17

Agree with Clarrie blue if we do the opposite of what we do against Groningen we can get mid to high table though I think we need an owner with a 30m transfer budget to spend on someone decent preferably a left winger or wing back I am thinking villa ninth with Sunderland Leicester and burnley going down in that order and chelski will win the league and maybe a cup run for us UTV

Agree9 Disagree10

I really wish I could be as optimistic, and think we will finish 8th, but to be honest I can't see any foundation for it. We were shocking last season, and we have added Senderos (loaned out by Fulham because he wasn't good enough for them!), Cole (done nothing consistently for 3/4 yrs and can't stay fit) and Richardson (I think he could be a reasonable signing, but he is no world beater). Added to that are the bomb squad, Bent (3 goals in 24 games for Fulham!!), Hutton (enough said) and N'zogbia (has done very little in his time as Villa Park). To compound it Benteke will miss the start of the season. I don't think we will be relegated (but only because like last year there will be at least 3 teams even worse than us), but I can't see any reason to think we will be in the top half - we have just been beaten 4-1 by Groningen for goodness sake!

Agree13 Disagree5

Anywhere from 10th to 15th will be a improvement, somewhere I thought we was heading until injuries started taking there toll.

Agree11 Disagree4

Lambert will be sacked just before pardew before xmas

Agree20 Disagree4

Reckon lambert will go if and when we get a new owner, so much for august 1st!

Agree15 Disagree3

I saw news that mk dons wants samir curruthers on permanent deal really if lambert sells him I hope he don't I think he could push on for first team

Agree5 Disagree8

Haha 8th?? maybe if in the next 8 days lerner sells, lambert goes and we keep hold of vlaar! if none of this happens we will be relegated for sure!

Agree0 Disagree10

We will not get relegated, put your head back on straight

Aston Villa are prepared to bid 3m for Scott Sinclair and get Victor Moses in on loan

Believable19 Unbelievable21

Your believing the tabliods again, and according to them Scott Sinclair is plan b if we miss out on moses

Agree9 Disagree19

I read it was we are going for moses on loan and if that didn't happen villa will go for Sinclair

Agree8 Disagree14

Why would we need two more wingers when we have grealish carruthers etc already though would take either alone

Agree6 Disagree20

Why would we need both?

Agree15 Disagree11

Both our wingers (gabby and wiemann) are converted forwards and go missing for half the season. n'zogs injury prone and we can't rely on U20's to come into the first team and start performing straight away. i'd take both.

Agree13 Disagree11

Whilst I wouldn't disagree that we could do with a direct winger, and Moses would probably be a good idea, I really can't go along with people who see Sinclair as the answer. He was a laughing stock at the Albion last season. If he is the answer what the hell is the question?
Clarrie blue.

Agree9 Disagree4

Agree about Sinclair being a laughing stock and he was on loan at blues

Agree6 Disagree6

Sorry to disagree with you, whoever you are, but Sinclair was on loan at Blues in 2009 and played for them 14 times -badly.
Last season he was on loan at West Brom and played for them 5 times - even more badly - until they gave up on him. I wouldn't have him at Villa Park at ANY price.
Clarrie.

Agree4 Disagree6

Sorry did you watch the 14 games and 5 games? He must have been doing something right to cost 8 million. I remember at Swansea in their pro mission season he was their best player. You don't go bad over night! Clarrie, just out of interest who would you like to see down Villa Park?

Agree4 Disagree5

When will the powers realise what kind of an institution they are ruining, THIS IS ASTON VILLA!!!!!
We started the game, we were the most successful club in the country, we were one of the greatest clubs in the world, were still the 4th most successful club in the country. Were based in the 2nd city, what kind of salesman is trying to sell us, they should be lining up 4 it. Hope they sell to someone with the money and passion to put us back were we belong. UTV

Agree13 Disagree3

Well, Lionel Messi would be nice - but seriously, if the best we can do is Sinclair, we might as well give up.
As it happens, I was unlucky enough to witness 3 of Sinclairs none performances for Albion last season. Enough said.
Suffice it to say they were not good. And no - he isn't and never was worth 8 million quid.
