Pl has made a last min move to bring in Sinclair off city and Jay spearing off Bolton as the cleaverly deal looks unlikely unless it's a loan. Wages are a problem. Also asked about colman off Everton but don't see that deal coming off. I've also herd a rumour that if we could pull it off a big money signing for the number 9 shirt could happen. The name in the frame is wilfrid bony from Swansea in a 17 mil deal.

Ive heard the big money no9 is flying in from Colombia.

Carlos Bacca, Colombian number 9? And Cleverley no longer a wage problem with United willing to pay him to leave. No big players leaving today.

Just a couple of rumours.
Lerner re-energised about villa and is ready to push on with the club.

Then there's a rumour that Villa have in fact being sold hense the cash injection Sanchez (possible Cleverley) and will be announced when the window closes (don't see why that matters)

I can only imagine that the reason a sale would be kept quiet is to avoid having to pay ridiculous money for players just because other teams know you have money to spend. As it goes, I seriously doubt we have been sold but Lerner must have realised that he has to invest to keep us in the prem to make us seem desirable to potential buyers. The Championship doesn't appeal to fans or owners/potential owners.

I disagree. A perfect time for a buyer to invest in villa would have been this summer. Three brushes with relegation for a club like villa would have been the ideal time for a perspective owner to come in and purchase villa on the cheap (in relative terms). Unless of course somebody with billions wishes to come in and just chuck money at the club, in which case all economics go out of the window. If we have a decent season now (say, we finish top half) what would you expect learner to value the club next season? We would be no more appealing to a perspective new owner than we were this summer.

The economics of a takeover would mean that any buyer would have to prove that they can "pay" the agreed amount.
Remember the recent sale of a major club?
I think that it was discovered that they had not got all of the money and were going to pay back a loan from money that came in through the commercial side of the business.
A billionaire cannot come straight in and spend silly money as under the fair play rule a club can only invest money taken in, not just because the owner wants to buy a player.
This actually favours the current top 6/7 clubs that have sold players for huge money and are then able to use that money plus what comes through the tills.
Presently AVFC are not selling players, they are giving them away, and not much money is coming through the tills.
I don't like Lerner but he is operating under "strict" rules layed down by Platini who was conned by the big clubs into setting the spending rules. The big clubs were already taking in huge money so the knew that they were Ok under the spending rules.
The lesser clubs, our AVFC, have to improve commercially to generate money and perhaps that is why we have changed our "money man" taking him from Gunners.
Even though Gunners have not won anything they have earned £30/50m just by getting into the group stages in Europe and that is where a club must get to spend big money.
Arguably if we sold Vlaar & Big Ben and got in £40m+ we could spend £70m+.
But that scenario we don't want to see!!

I agree that this summer would have been a perfect time for a new owner as they would have had time to assess the team and then buy the needed players. But I don't believe we would have been cheaper because of the recent struggles in the league; we all heard that Lerner still wanted £200 million for the club, probably because he wants to try and recoup some of the money he has spent and because he still views villa as a big club. In terms of history, tradition and fan base I agree with this but on field we are not a big club. I think a club like Everton are more appealing as they wouldn't cost too much, they have a great history and they are performing at a much higher level and have a strong base that they can build on. Should we become a consistent mid table club I can see Lerner valuing us at £250 million and price wise we will be less appealing but all owners are businessmen nowadays and they want results with as little investment as possible; we'll need less money if we're mid table than we would if we were in the lower echelons of the league.

My main worry with the whole takeover and money to spend is this;given the track record of lamberks tranferdealings to date would any real investortrust the man to get the right signings in, or would we field eleven lunars evey week he could well blow the onlyrealnce of propelling the club to where we dream it could go, improving the stadium, record attendancies- anyone remember 1981 the ground bounced on its foundations, EVERY

The guy has been told what to do and is doing it. He has not had much money to spend and to some what has bought in some good signings.
Vlaar, Okore and Benteke are all excellent buys, Cissoko & Sanchez are still to be seen and yes most of the others are questionable.
Buy when you have instructions that you must buy cheap and develop you can't shop at W'rose you have to go to Al. I and sometimes you get a bargain.
When name calling I maintain that you should look in a mirror first and see what you see, sometimes it is yourself.

Hi Oldvillian you must love PL its not just his buys its tactic, have you seen a game at villa park were we have played well under PL and Okore has yet to prove himself

I don't have any "feelings"for PL, I simply believe that he has followed the directive given to him from "above. " We are not the only team that you could direct your comments about play, try ManU at present, but we have played some good football at times. I know it is not what we want and it will not be until sufficient money be given to the manager regardless of who it might be, but at the moment it is PL. Try and put yourself in his place. Doing what he is instructed yet having fans screaming for him to go. When he was at Canary land they played some good stuff and many fans were delighted when he came to AVFC. I like to think that given the opportunity with real money, he may well produce the goods.

Hearing the name Wilson Palacios ringing out. Seeing it in the online press also. I've never payed any attn to this midfielder. Any good? I do know that Stoke didn't use him last season and did pretty good. Another castaway? Is he a box to box midfielder? Enlighten me please. We need a real creative fiery spark to light up the run into the final third imo and I don't see this guy comin close to that even with my limited knowledge of him. Wheres our Argie Bargie attacker we were hearing about? Up the Villianous!

We need Chadli and/or Holtby or Lestienne. Another Belgian would cement Benteke to us giving him something to mull over when agents come a calling.

hi ed seeming alan hutton has played well in the 2 league games so far this season do you guys think he deserves a long run in the team now and I know for certain how good he was at his best for rangers I remember when scotland played italy a few years back I have never seen anyone get as kicked in that game as much as alan hutton did the italians were scared of him going forward.

As far as hutton goes he showing more than lowton did last season, why did we sell Warnock just after being voted player of the season, maybe eft back would have been better covered and we'd not have had to watch the likes of Bennett instead

Ask yourself this. If you were Fox, assumably relatively comfortable at Arsenal, would you agree to moving to Villa without assurances over ownership and job stability after six years in a well paid position? This appointment means one of two things 1. Learner has made a u turn, 2. The new owner is soon to be annoinced and already making decisions. The recent change in transfer philisophy also ties in with points 1 and 2 above.

I read this rumour to, it said that as Liverpool weren't for sale they would look else where, so they instantly linked them to us as we are for sale, all speculation no concrete evidence to back anything up.

Abdulrahman would only join on loan if it was with view to a pernament deal. Man United needs all the players they can get at the moment. And for you to say that N'Zogbia is poor is a bit harsh considering the fact that he is a creative player and play well yesterday as did the whole team. Also, Carlos Sanchez wouldn't replace N'Zogbia. N'Zogbia is a flair player, whilst Sanchez is a hard working, tough tacking midfielder.

Sanchez will replace westwood in the middle with delph, and when benteke comes back replaces gabby up top and probably cole behind him when fit, also I think there's 1 more player to come, either holtby lennon or sinclair as moses opted to join stoke.

Westwood needs to learn to read the game better. He would be fantastic then.

Westwood is a real talent no doubt, but he does seem at times to let the game just flow past him, he needs to have more self belief and lern to boss the centre circle area, rather than disappear for half the game

Lambert should try to get a striker on loan.

Jelle Vossen would be my choice. He can play for Villa with an option to buy the player at the end of this season.

I guess that he would cost £11-14 million. I don't think wages will be a problem, as he earns less than £20k per week at Genk.

Great signing and what we have need for quite a few years now we just need a winger and I think we could do with a striker for a 3 months to cover injurys and get benteke and Kozak fully fit before we put them in

Just been reading that according to a website Carlos Sanchez is heading to B6 for a medical, a fee of 6m euros has been mentioned.
Fingers crossed.

What website is this? I've just read that we have pulled out of the race to sign him.

Local newspaper also reporting Sanchez fliying in for medical as a fee has been agreed with his club and third party owners. Could be just what we need should it materialise.

Lots of conflicting reports about the fee. Have seen £1.5 million but also 4.7million!! Its a massive difference for this sort of fee (either half of our budget or a fifth!) so not sure which end of the scale is right.

I agree, the reports are way apart, but I've learned the newspaper know nothing, but only time will tell

Roy Keane pictured at molineux yesterday watching wolves victory against norwich, I've been told he was watching Danny Batth of Wolves Centre back and his performance justified why we could be there watching him and also he was watching nathan redmond who did not do much but maybe a replacement for tonev who is heading to celtic

I don't understand why it is so important for us to have heard of someone for it to be a good signing. Do people not realise that at some point in their career the big name players was unknown. There's just no satisfying some of the fans. We get experience (they are washed up) we get up and coming youth ( never heard of him). Come on guys you need to show more faith. I personally would rather us win games through shear hard work rather than buying the leaugue. rant over haha

Tell you what, Sanchez would be a great signing, especially for the position we find ourselves in at the minute, QPR, Everton also rumored for him. I also saw an article saying United were looking to get him in as a squad player. this is a signing i'm really hoping comes off, can see him having a Benteke'esque impact, as in a few great seasons and seeing his valuation rocket. ps i'm also quite behind the Cissokho move, hoping they both come in, then I wouldn't be too dis-heartened if that was all our business, although i'd love another forward

Those were two good young signings but there have been way too many unsuccessful young signings to make us loose confidence eg tonev, bowery, helenius, sylla, Bennet and Luna. It's not surprising no one wants any more unknown youngsters

You Can not count Helenius, the guy was never given a chance was he.

The young signings mentioned were not given enough time. Sub appearances are not a fair crack of the whip. Agree that some of them have not hit the ground running but then again the lack of senior players around them cannot have helped

My point is that I just can't agree with the excitement of the post above and pretend to be happy with a potential signing that I've never heard of. And just because the player is good on Football Manager or YouTube doesn't mean he will be good in real life.

People seem to be talking about this guy as if he is a young up and coming player who has the potential to increase in value over the years. the guy is 28.

Regardless of his age, he'd still be a welcomed signing, people say we need a CDM then when we are linked with one they complain, I don't understand.

It's almost impossible for 4-5 young players to be successful when all are playing together an learning at the same time, I'd say the players signed have ability and potential but playing them in an already struggling team an expecting them to perform is unrealistic.

Why is 28 old? I can't believe that anyone thinks that a 28 year old has little future. Think about Gerard, Lampard, Barry, all in the twilight but able to do a job. In some areas of sport 28 is reaching maturity, both in strength and mind. Just reflect that men start to grow up at 30 when our brain rules our body rather than our balls ruling our brain. Ask any women, they all know.

When I mentioned sanchez being 28, I didn't mean it as a bad thing. i'm aware 28 is aften when players start to come into ther prime and heaven knows we could do with some experience and presence in our midfield.

I only mentioned his age as is seemed the tone of the debate was about him as an up and coming youngster, which he isnt

He also had a solid World Cup for Columbia, I would welcome this deal with open arms, as it's just what we need, a strong defensive midfielder and at 28 he's seen it all and got the tshirt

Spanish paper claiming Cissokho to join Villa. Didn't particularly convince on loan at Liverpool last season.

On a website now too. I maybe wrong, but not a name I have seen linked with us before, and IF true just shows the British Papers haven't got a clue what's going on….

It's not a name linked in British papers because villa keeps things quiet when signing players, it's usually when they are close or having a medical the first we hear of it, British paper make it up the never have hard evidence to back it up

Celtic need van dijk especially after the first leg against legia Warsaw would like ki but he is waiting for arsenal to make an offer and Swansea want to give him a new contract (he won't stay) Moses would also be a good signing but if it takes Jose this long to reply then we may not get him though we are in desperate need of a winger now carruthers is gone if we fail to buy one then we should give Danny o brien a try

I think we need to sign at least 3 more players. A right and left mid/winger and a solid holding/center midfielder.

RL is apparently making £10million available for transfers. Hopefully this will be enough for us to finally get ki sung yueng and moses and maybe even one other.

Both our wingers (gabby and wiemann) are converted forwards and go missing for half the season. n'zogs injury prone and we can't rely on U20's to come into the first team and start performing straight away. i'd take both.

Whilst I wouldn't disagree that we could do with a direct winger, and Moses would probably be a good idea, I really can't go along with people who see Sinclair as the answer. He was a laughing stock at the Albion last season. If he is the answer what the hell is the question?

Sorry to disagree with you, whoever you are, but Sinclair was on loan at Blues in 2009 and played for them 14 times -badly.
Last season he was on loan at West Brom and played for them 5 times - even more badly - until they gave up on him. I wouldn't have him at Villa Park at ANY price.
