Couple of rumours going around
Middlesbrough after Ireland - although would imagine loan deal with us paying a % of his wags to go.
Crystal palace and Celtic trying to take Bannan again probably loan deal.

And interestingly we have inquired about taking Shinji Kagawa on loan with the arrival of Fellini imminent and Rooney back in good books means pushes Kagawa further back down.

AndyKaff

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Hard to believe kagawa would come to vp but in a world cup year it could happen if united let him go on loan

Agree5 Disagree2

This is very interesting and as above has said, in a world cup year this could very well be in favour of everyone, PL, Avfc, Man U and Kagama himself. I'm really intrigued. Haven't heard anything about it but I would be delighted with this.

Agree2 Disagree1

Aston Villa are close to signing Ja-Cheol Koo, a young Asian AM playing in Germany. I've been informed this is a real possibility. Also, Milner on loan is building strength but remain sceptical about this one.
Azza

Agree3 Disagree2

This won't happen as Lambert Refuses to sign on loan players, he believes its not fair on players he has already signed or players who have committed to longer contracts. Before you all mention Dawkins, that was a loan with a very low buy option.
Basically no more incomings and if anyone is sold then that money will be added to the 3 mil we have left and will be used in Jan

Agree3 Disagree1

This would be an amazing loan deal would fill the needed CAM role and Kagawa will want first team football ready for world cup next year. In Lambert we trust!

Agree1 Disagree4

I do not believe in loan players as all it does is enhance them for another club.

Agree1 Disagree1

Well no kagawa for United today apparently didn't travel
Andykaff

Agree1 Disagree1

Are you implying that he will come to villa then? stop dreaming mate seriously wake up

Berisha and sane to join from redbull by the end of the window.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Didn't you say this previously? Plus I really don't rate Mane, I don't know anyone who does!

Can't see it!

Who has made this rubbish up? no stories anywhere on this. stop making up tosh its only funny when kingy does it.

Apparently we were close to signing Ki from Swansea, but PL wanted permanent deal and Swansea only wanted loan, hence why he's now off to Sunderland for a medical. Shame, would have been a good signing for us. Plus, Ba rumours getting stronger, looks like a fee has been agreed to take Ba on loan from Porto, big CB to cover defensive area. Not certain hell move to us but positive signs.

Winger Marc Albrighton is set to go out on a three month loan to championship club Leicester City.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Good idea, we should also send Garnder out for three months. Of course there are some we need to get rid of, but these two need some match practice.

Agree2 Disagree0

Worth a try offering albrighton and bannan plus 4 mil for ince?

Tom Ince to sign for avfc on transfer deadline day worth in the region of 8 m. Would be the best signing this summer. We will have 5 quality attackers Benteke Agbonlahor Weimann Ince and Tonev

Believable4 Unbelievable8

Hope it happens they also want to take ireland and hutton on loan but haging over wages I personaly think it will happen

Agree3 Disagree5

Helenius?

Agree7 Disagree5

I think he will go to Everton as its closer to home for him

Agree3 Disagree5

Villa have a better record of producing young talent than Everton, and I wouldn't class helenius as amazing?

Agree1 Disagree6

This could be a bit of icing on our cake. Ince is imaginative, quick & direct. Added to what we already have is starting to make 2013/14 look more and more exciting. If we can get a solid CB before deadline day we could be looking towards finishing above all but the big spenders. Go for it PL, we are with you all thye way.

Agree6 Disagree3

What could seal this deal for us is the fact blackpool want ireland and hutton on loan nut can't afford the wwaagggees answer we pay most the wages blackpool get 2 players and we get tom ince

Liverpool are set to make a move for shay given as cover for simon mignolet. My guess is they'll just be using him as an experienced head to give a few pointers and somebody that can step in should anything happen and from given's point of view it will no doubt be an ideal way to see out his career, a bit like marshall did with us.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Listening to Shay on radio last week he said he wanted to play first team footy for the last couple years of his career, so I don't think he'd go there to be a No2

>scg87

Agree9 Disagree2

They didn't want to keep Reina because of his wages and i'm guessing he couldn't have been on much more than Given is now.

Agree7 Disagree2

Reina was on £110,000 a week, and their hoping Given takes a drop on his current £60,000 a week. just like he did when he joined us from the £80,000 Man City. now all you parents out there with young kids learn them goal keeping skills, it pays!

Agree6 Disagree2

Fair point, I don't think it was about the wages with reina, I just think they realised he's past it and used and excuse else they'd have to get rid of half their team. And tbh surely given would just be happy with a move of any kind now! Anyway this is just something i've heard last night and its been reported a few places now so we'll see what happens with it. I'm not going to throw and dates and fees around like kingvilla since its just rumoured interest.

Agree5 Disagree2

I'd rather be number 2 there than number 3 with us

I have heard from a reliable source that we are in for Steven Defour! Absolute quality, will be the QB position we need, creative and very experienced!

Believable5 Unbelievable15

Fantastic link.

May I ask, what has made this person/contact so reliable in your eyes? Has there been something else that has been leaked earlier that would give this impression?

Genuinely interested

Leroy

Agree7 Disagree5

KingVilla forgot to put his name to this post! h

Agree4 Disagree3

What the hell is the QB position?

also this is a non-starter just doesn't fit into lamberts signing style.

Agree3 Disagree4

Well we have been in for him at an earlier in the summer as I reported! This is only A 50 50 at mo but is still possible. Then ill lap it up lol.

Agree2 Disagree6

Quarter back. Randy Lerner is putting us in the American football league next year

Agree6 Disagree3

You will never, ever, get a response to that perfectly reasonable question mate

Villa linked with Aaron cresswell again and full back Babe from Porto

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Babe? who is she? and cresswell will not happen, do we really need 3 lbs when we are crying out for a solid midfielder? NO

Agree10 Disagree0

Trade Bennett for cresswell in January if Bennett doesn't step up to the plate

Agree4 Disagree7

No thanks would honestly rather have bennett, if cresswell was really that good lambo would have got him instead of bennett last year don't u think?

Agree4 Disagree2

I don't think they would accept anything close to a straight swap, cash, loans on top would have to be involved.

Hearing reports that Steven Ireland and Barry Bannan could be part of a move for Blackpool lad tom Ince.

Finch

Believable8 Unbelievable7

If this happens it would be deep joy all round

Agree10 Disagree1

Would be a good bit of buisiness if it happens ince has good potential and ireland and bannon of tbe books would be lovely so pl can plan for some mre gems in jan think too late in the window now

Agree8 Disagree1

How will blackpool fund irelands wages?
can see bannan going there though

Agree8 Disagree1

I have strong contacts telling me this afternoon and this evening, that Bannan is most certainly going to part of any deal involving young Tom Ince, but the suggestions of Ireland are inaccurate. Tom Ince at VP would be incredible, comes highly recommended from his dad.
Azza

Agree9 Disagree1

Not being a killjoy, but although T. Ince has a lot of potential, he is definitely not at the high level required to fill the void of our coveted AM role.

His not a player that would have changed much in a big game, say the game against Chelski, Jose would not have made any preferential orders to accommodate him, his no Mata or Hazard. do you see where I'm going with this, his not a big game changer, at least not yet, Tonev is much more effective e. g. Bannan would be called Messi at championship level

His not a marquee signing, but would have been a good addition to the squad if not for our clearly overpriced English players, instead we got Bacuna who might prove to be a better acquisition.

We should be looking a affordable realistic AM options (but still of the Merson/Ginola class exciting but team effective) that would benefit our team especially in this world cup year.

Omar/Wijnaldum

Agree5 Disagree5

What has happened to Gary Gardner can't make the bench for the cup match even. PL doing a good job but KEA before Gardner is not right. is he injured?

Agree6 Disagree3

Glad to hear that Finch and Azza are reporting it, and not KingVilla. What is Bannan valued at?3m, and a fee agreed with Cardiff was 8m. So the deal, if it goes through, will be 5m+Bannan

Agree6 Disagree1

Gardener picked up back injury last game he played for us

Agree4 Disagree2

Yes but you are forgetting Blackpool owe Liverpool 4 mill on any sales and Liverpool owe us 5 mill for downing.

So thigh only cost 1 mill plus the midget {Ed003's Note - Not sure your figures are correct but bear in mind any 'fees' B'pool would have to pay for loans from you would help the deal as this would lower what has to be forwarded for his % sell on whilst B'pool would be getting a much needed player on board,last I was told Bannan was off to Celtic though}

Agree2 Disagree1

3 million for bannan! The deal with Blackburn before it broke down was 750 000 {Ed003's Note - The fee agreed with Cardiff was £8m and big add ons btw.}

Agree5 Disagree2

Bannan valued at 3 million?
Are we talking lira?
Surely not British Sterling?

Agree4 Disagree1

No chance of Ince. I told you a few weeks ago that our budget only had 1 million left. since then we have loaned out Bent for 2 million so that leaves 3 million, this will be kept back for the Jan transfer window as Lambert remembers last Jan we desperately needed help but Uncle Randy only rubber stamped Stephen Hawkins (loan) AKA glass ankles, and our Silla.
Before you all go on about Lambert not willing to pay big for fees or wages just think maybe he doesn't have the money? we were first in for
Coutinho at 8.5m, Uncle said no.
Belhanda at 8m, Uncle said no.
boudebouze at 6.5m, Uncle said no.
Bentekes best mate Chadli at 7.5m, Uncle said no.
Kiyotakes buy out clause at 7.5m, Uncle said no.
its not rocket science is it!
all the above players are low risk as in they could easily be worth more in the future and are the right age. Lamberts scouts or contacts have been doing their job, its just Uncle Randy whos not. clubs are already looking for the next Benteke, how long before they wise up and realise who our contacts are start buying the the real gems we are unearthing and not following through on?
Lambert knows the score with Villa, my plea to you Uncle Randy is give him the Benteke fee for 10 more players, that's 80 million or ten 8 million pound players, together with the 15 grand a week he signed for, so that's 150k a week, and Lambert will win you the league.
if 80 million is too much for you invest in our club then please sell up because we finally have a manager and scouting network to make it.

Agree5 Disagree9

I like Ince. Quick, direct, scores goals and is a real threat (albeit only tested at Championship level thus far). He reminds me a lot of Ashley Young when at Watford and I would expect him to make the step up to the Prem without much hassle.

Not too sure I see him playin in the AM role though which some have suggested above. He is best as a winger and should be deployed as one.

He would add something extra to the team (better delivery from wide positions) and I would have him in the squad over Albrighton. Not sure he would be a starter every game (at the expense of who?) but has the pace and directness to fit into our counter attacking play.

If Bannan is part of any deal then even better!

However, I have seen some reports that have distanced us from this transfer so will be interesting to see how this materialises over the next few days.

Agree8 Disagree2

Dont know where you get £1m left from. We have an annual budget of £20m to spend on players, last season lambert spent £23m in the summer so randy only gave him £2m in january, which is exactly why we got sylla and not sissoko. The reason 'uncle says no' to a lot of these deals is because we are still trying to balance our books so he has to be a bit strict with the budget. We have spent £13.5m this transfer window, that leaves £6.5m for any transfers for this summer and like you say the £2m from bent plus anything we do get for the bomb squad will be used in jan. that's why he said no to all those players! I really don't know why you mention coutinho. This was last january when we'd already spent over budget so why would he then give us £10m for his fee and wages?

Either way your entire argument is flawed, you can't state we have '£1m left of the budget' then question why we haven't signed players for £7/8m.

Also you can't be angry and randy lerner for not wanting to ruin the club for the sake of big money signings. Its because we spent so much on players and wages under other managers that we are in this mess. let's just be thankful he is still giving us £20m every year and appreciate the job lambert is doing on a 'shoe string' budget!

Agree5 Disagree3

The reason I mentioned Coutinho was because in Jan we were facing a real relegation battle and everyone was saying Uncle Randy will invest.
we have actually spent 11.5m this summer and have received 2.5m for Makoun, minus 2m for Bent.7m so far, so by your account we still have 13m left.
don't give me bull about saving our club and previous overspends, its not our fault its his. says it all when we spend surplus of 7m on dodgy managers yet can't compete with the likes of Swansea on transfers. talking about budgets wheres the record breaking Sky money gone?

Agree5 Disagree1

Your figures are as random as anything mate. Must be pulling these out of a hat. Either way you are missing the point, we have spent season after season spending masses of money on transfer fees and wages, and if we were to carry on spending £30/40m a season like you want us to, we'd soon have no money left and end up in the same position as blues. If that's what you want fine, but if not then why not be patient and appreciate what we are doing with little money.

Randy has realised that we have just as much chance of staying in the prem buying players for £3m as we do spending £20m+ on players like bent. What would you rather? One good player for a massive amount of money, and no real improvement, or an entire squad revamp full of cheap young players who will either be villa legends in years to come or will get us £15-25m in transfer fees? There's only 2/3 teams in the prem that have bought more players than us and you're still moaning that randy lerner (who has put more into a team below the top 10 than any other chairman has in the last 3 years) isn't spending enough money? Get real mate! The days of europe and full stadiums are no more at the moment, we make way less than we did 2/3 years ago so why should randy keep giving us silly money?

Agree2 Disagree3

I hope your right mate, and no I don't won't us to end up like Blues or QPR or worst still Portsmouth. I just think we have been linked with some real young European talent who see us as a place they will get oppurtunities to play and not to just sit on the bench i. e Benteke vs Lukaku. also these links ain't for 20 or 30 mil prices but for 6-7 mil who could turn into 20-30 mil players.
we all want the best for Villa as does Lambert and Uncle Randy. But I got a gutt fealing vultures are circling and Lambert will be on the wishlist of some of europes clubs, this includes his scouting network and German connections (pre Lambert we used an I. T. company to identify our next manager and who did they choose? Mc. Leish) it could be a calculated gamble because were not talking about 28 year old plus players on silly wages and high transfer fees who are household names who come to Villa and suddenly loose the will to play or think they've already achieved or overpriced young british talent. the next Welsh kid to play 2 decent games will automatically be labelled the next Bale and his club will won't silly money. look at Hughes, Derby won't more than 6mil for him, then there's Ince who some feel we should buy for 8mil. Lambert is not a chequebook manager and we ain't a 20,000 fans a game club. a calculated gamble now or risk losing our manager next season.

Agree3 Disagree1

Very well put an written to the poster above.

Finch

Agree2 Disagree1

I take your point, but I think from a business point of view that would seem too much. I wouldn't worry about lambert, he is setting up a team that will win things in the future, do you think he would bring in a full squad of players then turn his back on it before the rewards have came? You can just tell he's the sort of bloke that will stay with what he's made and get the glory that will eventually come with it. Also lambert is under contract, so should anybody say they want him lerner can simply say 'buggar off' and improve his contract (something I am expecting him to do soon enough anyway, not that its about the money for lambert).

I think we just have to be patient at the end of the day mate, and face the fact we are only going to spend so much a season. We've improved the squad this summer and somebody may still come in, then next summer we have another £20m to spend on players, and i'm fairly sure we won't see 6/7 players come in because we shouldn't need that many. we will only need 3/4 more so we can spend a bit more. Its a long winded process but if we wait, we can be at our best for a long long time, not just 3 seasons like under MON just to end up in this mess again.

Some reports than we have opened talks to sign tom ince. Everton also rumoured to be interested. Unclear how true at the moment and I personally doubt we'd pay the askinh price but in my opinion would be a good addition, could play behind benteke or on the wing and then weimann or tonev could slot in behind benteke (both capable of playing that roll).

Believable6 Unbelievable2

We could give them bannan and some other wantaways.

Agree4 Disagree1

Simple solution, straight swap, ince for weimann lol

Agree0 Disagree10

And keep bannan and play ireland in the a/m role?

Agree2 Disagree6

Why would you get rid of weiman
Hes class
Thickle villa fans

Agree5 Disagree1

Define class please mate

Agree3 Disagree1

Class = someone who scores goal when played up front!

Agree3 Disagree1

Saw his goal last night! Quality!

Agree1 Disagree0

Said this before but I think weimann should play in behind the striker. Gabby is capable of dropping back as a right midfield as he's strong and can win the ball back, but also has the pace to keep up with the attacking play and as we saw last night he can cross too. Weimann is never a winger, he can't cross! But he can put some nice passes in behind the defence and can certainly shoot. All we need then is another right midfield (like albrighton but better) and we can play 4-4-1-1. We get tore up down the right hand side because weimann isn't quick enough to be goal side when defending and the 3 midfielders are usually too central.

Agree1 Disagree2

Could we be talking about Gabby as playing a similar role to Bale? He has pace to go past defenders and can shoot but he isn't really a through ball player. He does appear to be playing the Bale role already this season. Before someone jumps up and says "dont be silly" look at Gabby, he has some desire back and looks fitter than he has for a couple of season.

Aston villa being looked at along with everton and newcastle by shake mansours cousin. Its early stages but they have been in contact with rl who has told them he would sell for 110 million. This deal would be done in time for the January window where pl would be give major funds to snap up the best youth across the world. They like pl ideas and would stick to that plan and always snap up best young players around along with 1 big signing per window. They then see constant high level success for villa for cheeper fees than buying big name players staying in the ffp easier and would sell players around 28 years of age for big fees to bring money in and fund more youth. Villa there preferd club to buy but its very early and may come to nothing as did old rumors of takeovers.

Believable2 Unbelievable16

Who is your ghost writer?
Even Barbara Cartland couldn't come up with these plots.
I will buy the first copy of the book.

King Villa. direct question to you. where do you actually get this info from? There is no evidence to support any of this as well as all the ridiculous other rumours you come up with unless they have already been posted or from the media. My sources have told me that chelsea came in on Saturday with a cheeky offer of lukaku and 10 million for benteke. This was rejected out of hand by villa but chelsea set to come back in on monday with a 35 million straight cash bid. This offer will be accepted by randy lerner and 20 million give to pl which will be spent on troy deeney and jermaine defoe for a combination fee of 15 mil. Fiscer will arrive monday as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable16

Kingvilla, you are getting more and more desperate. A) mourinho would rather have lukaku than benteke, and he clearly stated 7 days ago he isn't interested in benteke and B) defoe and deeney for a combined £15m? Defoe is worth £5/6m top end, and deeney is worth no more than £2.5m. Also there is no way on earth you could accurately predict the money we get and who we sell to, as well as how much will be given to lambert and the exact players and transfer fees we are buying with the money! Are you actually in a fantasy land? Do you just make up stuff out of boredem? Seriously you have speculated about 20/25 different things on here and the only one that was even remotely true had already been posted and replied to by 2/3 people so you just jumped on the bandwagon. Its actually quite a laugh but please just give up now.

Apparently Villa are monitoring 6. 3ft Polish CB Kamil Glik, believed to be available for under 3million euros despite being the Torino club captain. Fulham are also in the frame.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Great another cb surely we need a dm or am?

Agree6 Disagree3

Why is it, Fulham are always mentioned?

Agree6 Disagree1

We do need a centre back who can defend at all costs, 25 games without a clean sheet speaks for itself.
Just imagine how many points that we could have saved had we kept a clean sheet.

Agree5 Disagree2

Going by videos this guy is a real force! think Juventus are sniffing about too.

Agree4 Disagree2

I wouldn't say no to a dominant centre back

Agree5 Disagree1

Perhaps he'll be more concrete than Ron

Talk of U. S winger Joshua Gatt, initially on loan?

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Is he still at molde?

Agree6 Disagree2

Yeh, think we're on good terms with them too, offered Ole Solskjær the job before Lambert apparently.

Agree3 Disagree2

Gatt is a beast, he's run 100m in under 11 seconds. Doubt it'd be a loan, probably a signing for roughly £5m at a guess.

Agree1 Disagree4

Why would us trying to take their manager away from them put us on good terms with them?!

Agree4 Disagree3

Because we did it all accordingly, didn't try to tap him up ect

We are interested in signing 17 year old defender Regan Eldridge from Chesterfield FC. Highly rated by Chesterfield and from the same Derbyshire village as Matt Lowton. We have been scouting him since last November.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Well that's just great, can't wait for him to set the prem on fire!
As much as i've liked most of Lamberts signings I do feel that this is possibly a step too far and most certainly one that we'll not get a good look at for a few years!
How about getting an AM who we can watch next bloody week!

Agree5 Disagree1

An AM is only good to us at home against lessor teams.

Had we played with an AM against Liverpool then they would have torn us apart. Gerrard had so much of the ball in the first half against 3 CM's and to take one out and place him effectively behind Gerrard would have made things worse. Why I agree we need to be more creative from midfield I do not think an AM is what is needed. We are too naive as a team defensively to allow for a potential bystander (apart from during attacking play) at this moment in time.

I would much rather a deep lying midfielder be signed who will allow Westwood and Delph to play 10/15 yards further forward and link up with the attack, in particular Delph who has had a great start to the season and has made some imposing runs with the ball although (for me) from too deep a position.

Ive said it before but signing Gareth Barry and sitting in him in that position would be ideal for me. Yes he may not be as mobile as he was before but his job in the team would be to assist with breaking up play and starting attacks. He has the ability on the ball to play that position and the experience to help settle the team during the first 30 mins of matches. His presence would allow Westwood and Delph to express themselves further.

While I would not expect Lambert to move for Barry (for reasons already exhausted) a player of that ilk is more suited to what we need in my opinion.

Agree7 Disagree3

Totally agree we need a proven big-name def mid or att mid, either way if we don't sign anyone else which I highly doubt we will its going to be another season of struggles

Agree3 Disagree2

Can't believe no ones gone for Mo Diame from West Ham. Last I heard he had a 2.5m buy out clause and the blokes a beast, exactly the sort of player we need!

Agree5 Disagree0

Great shout for diame I heard 3. 5 but nevertheless like you say would be just what we need

Agree4 Disagree1

Good input hughes however I disagree as you Would change the formation to suit an attacking midfielder anyway. Much needed at home fixtures

Just herd the fischer deal is a big big possibility. The player sees villa as the ideal club to move to to take his game to the next level and move into the epl. Looking around the 8 million mark and it will be a deadline day deal to stir up the fans. Hope this one comes off as the lad looks quality.

Was getting excited about this rumour but struggling to find any credible source to this but now kingvilla has now backed the rumour then clearly this is never going to happen.

Agree10 Disagree0

AH shucks. I was starting to believe these Fishcer rumours until King Villa posted!

Agree9 Disagree1

I said yesterday we maybe going for tendayi and someone else stated it above so why have I got 3 disagrees and zero agrees?

Agree3 Disagree7

Yeah kingy where are, van der vaart rodwell, defour, veloso and all the others we were meant to be signing then mate?

Agree5 Disagree1

So because everyone says your rumors are false you start jumping on someone elses bandwagon to get us to agree with you? I thought rodwell was signing 4 weeks ago, stop trying to get us to believe these rumors, I thought Fischer was a possibility until you reported it

Agree1 Disagree1

Villa midfield is so bad ( Gary Gardner would add so much more. why is PL ignoring him for a bunch of cheap players, you may get 1 or 2 good players cheap but not 6!villa don't no how to play at home, class dose not come cheap better to play the some of the ngen players

Agree3 Disagree7

I feel if it goes through you'll claim responsibility and that you say we should of trusted you, your just jumping on the bandwagon after a string of terrible rumors

Agree5 Disagree1

If we don't get some real creativity then we are looking at another relegation fight. we were terrible in the first half and we never play well at home so disappointing after arsenal. our midfield is awful bar delph couldn't get a goal or assist between them and they don't have a clue what to with the ball when in possesion also weimann is a joke get him out and try tonev or bacuna in his position or buy someone DECENT to replace him. gabby has 1 good game every dozen games nowhere near good enough and even tekkers gets on my nerves with his poor touches and flick-ons although if it wasnt for him we would finish rock bottom and don't get me started on vlaar.

Agree2 Disagree16

Agree weiman is terrible and should be replaced by adam mcgurk perhaps? quality lower league player still only 23 can't believe we released him 3 years ago

Agree0 Disagree20

£8million for Fischer!?
1 of europe's highest rated players leaving his club for £8m when he's under contract until 2017?

I think kingvilla is the next pick up for the paddy wagon lol

deluded kingvilla!

>Scg87

Agree13 Disagree2

Weiman isn't bad he just had 1 bad game
Also bacuna was letting us down in
Midfield always giving the ball away
And the players have just played
Two top teams there bound to be tired

Agree15 Disagree2

No they weren't tired that's no excuse we jus don't have any midfield quality to unlock defences. its all good trying as hard as we do but if we don't possess any composure creativity or flair then another relegation battle looms no doubt.

Agree4 Disagree12

You are right the midfield has no imagination and have stated before we can not play at home, only way we play is on the counter attack

Agree3 Disagree6

Weimann IS bad, even when he has a good game he's still awful, can't pass, dribble or shoot has absolutely zilch composure and is generally just a headless chicken for 90 mins, definitely our worst player along with vlaar.

Agree4 Disagree15

Dont know why some fans are slating the team for, when we got a great result against Arsenal, were unlucky to come away with nothing against Chelsea and dominated the second half against Liverpool.
We have had one of the hardest starts to the seasons compared to any other teams two away matches against two of the top four.
It is way to early to start making judgements on the team and in my eyes I can see we are much much improved from last year and I think we could finish top half with a bit of luck an one more quality signing.

Agree15 Disagree1

Weiman is not a bad player at all! He is still young and has a lot of potential. Plus if u give him a half chance he will score. If anything he is our most clinical finisher along with benteke

Agree10 Disagree2

Lett get back to rumours while the window is still open, I personally don't think we will sign anyone else but would love to hear the latest from kingvilla, got anything for us pal?

Agree4 Disagree1

I am amazed at all the rats already jumping ship! 3 top teams, 3 pts. Lambert said that he would have taken that before the start of the season.

WE all know that a midfield leader is needed and a ball holder to keep keep us in the game. Hopefully Lambert has this in hand.

But slagging off Weimann is out of order. Last season he scored some great goals that helped us to stay up.

Behave yourselves show some respect and support the team.

Agree13 Disagree2

They should put helenius on rf or lf depending on how bad gabby or Weimann play. Weimann could of contributed a lot more in the Liverpool game

Agree1 Disagree4

Support the team through thick and thin some of the comments on here are a disgrace but I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion

Agree7 Disagree0

Im not jumping on anyones band wagon. I report stuff as I hear it true or false as they may turn out and yes I've herd a lot of false of late I agree. More than one person can report what they here on a player as many of you do. But you got to agree kingvilla gets you all talking if nothing else hey lol. I hope we get this lad as he looks a real talent and I've seen him live a few times and no I won't claim anything.

Agree1 Disagree3

Good on ya kingy. I for 1 do not take any of these rumours seriously I just love YOUR updates in particular mate so come what other stories u got for us?

Agree1 Disagree2

Weimann could contribute a lot more in every game but he doesn't have any true ability whatsoever. basically, even at his best he is nowhere near good enough

Agree3 Disagree20

Andi Weimann has amazing potential, but he isn't a winger, he's a striker!

Agree11 Disagree2

I can't believe some of the bull I'm reading!

Weimann IMO is not a great finisher by any means but never the less he's a talent player who works his ass off. He was outstanding for us last season an I have no doubt he's gunna play a big part in this season.

With a front 3 of benteke gabby an weimann we will create an score goals this season, scoring goals will not be a problem, keeping clean sheets is the problem an will continue to be the problem if we don't get a proper DM

An any talk of us fighting relegation is beyond stupid!
I'm not even gunna entertain any argument why someone would say we're gunna be fighting relegation again. Atleast wait until we play Newcastle an Norwich before you make that judgment.

>Scg87

Agree11 Disagree0

Agree with you scg87. We definitely need somebody to cover the defence. Our holding midfielder is westwood, he likes to sit in front of the back four and pass the ball around, but the only problem there is, he's not very good at defending, he won't get stuck in to a tackle and he won't hold people off the ball. We do need somebody big and strong to cover the back four.

Now here's my opinion, it might sound stupid to some people, but I would see how good ron vlaar would be as the DCM! He hasn't got the greatest positioning as a CB and for me he's the weak link back there. Look at arsenals goal against us, we only had 3 defenders and he ran into arsenals half to make a tackle! We all know he likes to go on spontaneous attacks and likes a shot, he got away with it before but he won't in the premier league, at least not as a cb. So why not give him that freedom to sit in front of the back 4, that way he can do the attacking part as well as provide some steel in midfield! Some may disagree but I certainly feel that would be a fantastic position for him, and if I was paul lambert i'd be giving it a go tomorrow night!

Agree6 Disagree0

It certainly is a cost-effective way for us try a proper dcm, imagine we spend 8m on someone to play there who turns out rubbish when we could spend nothing and try vlaar maybe even clark in there. one things for sure, this role MUST be filled by someone who is defensively sound and equally as adept at moving forward and linking up play so great suggestion ethAVFC.

apparently villa are ready to bid for chesterfield midfielder tendayi darikwa I have just read in transfertalk.
this is just a rumour for now.
one question, anyone know this guy?

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Okplayer not prem level though. shame we still looking at kids to train up

Agree1 Disagree2

He 21 years old and is rapid.

Agree2 Disagree2

I rate him and personally think he's good enough for us. Shame people disagree on the club he comes from and not the players ability

Agree4 Disagree1

Not heard much about this guy but I trust Lambert and his signings. He has proven that he knows he can pick the right players from the lower leagues who can do a job.

Plus from the players perspective he will know that he will get game time at Villa as PL is not worried about chucking players in

Agree2 Disagree1

What so just because he plays for chesterfield his not good enough. Lowton Westwood Bowery came from low league sides and they seem to have done just fine for us

Agree6 Disagree1

Bowery not up to it fact

How true is albrighton going to stoke ed? I read it this morn in the paper? {Ed003's Note - Just asked mate and apparently he is available whether it is to Stoke I don't know sorry.}

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I hope we can cash in on him we don't need him anymore I'd take 1. 5/2 mill if we are lucky

Agree3 Disagree3

Hughes has enquired on his availability think it's only a loan deal

Agree3 Disagree0

I don't see it personally wouldn't he have had a bomb squad number if he was going on a perm?

Agree5 Disagree2

Albrighton had a decent enough pre-season. I wouldn't want to sell him until we know about Grealish (XI?) & N'Zog (Sold?), regarding their futures.

Agree14 Disagree1

Benteke attracting bids from Chelsea and arsenal despite extending contract agreed release clause for top clubs worrying this close to window

Believable2 Unbelievable11

Can a player sign 2 permanent contracts in the same window? {Ed007's Note - Yes of course you can.}

Agree3 Disagree2

Benteke knows the situation at big clubs. We beat Arsenal (he knows he'd not be doing himself an favours going there) & Chelsea. just look at Lukaku, he's a bench boy!

Agree4 Disagree2

Why would he go to arsenal if we beat
Them, also mourinho has said he doesn't
Want him so these rumours are B. S

Agree4 Disagree2

Value up already folowing his start to the season. 3 goals, 2 games. Now we should ask £50m and play hard ball. Further to this we have Helenius, who is being watched by Real, and he could be the neccessary replacement if the big fella does move.
£50,000,000 NO LESS.

Agree5 Disagree4

Lambert confirmed that there is no clause in his new contract just after he signed it

Agree8 Disagree0

Mourinho said yesterday 'he is a very good player but a very good player of a certain style of play, we do not play to that style' so you can rule chelsea out. As for arsenal, they have now entered the panic buy stage due to the pressure from the fans, I can't really see them spending £40m on benteke, they'll try and get the good players that have been around for years to make the fans happy.

Agree5 Disagree2

How many times do we have to dismiss this as garbage? wish people would trying to stir s*** at AVFC its getting pathetic now. sort it out ya muppets

Agree6 Disagree1

Benteke will stay this season and we will lose him next summer prob to man city for 45 mil after a second good season and world cup.

Agree3 Disagree5

Paul Lambert is closing in on his final transfer target of Viktor Fischer of Ajax. The Danish wonderkid is the attacking midfielder which Lambo has been chasing and my sources indicate he's now put in a bid. More to follow!

Believable20 Unbelievable11

What about tadic then?

Agree2 Disagree5

Villa have been given permission to talk to the 19 yr old

Agree6 Disagree5

Fingers crossed, really rate this kid. And for those that care he's also a good buy on fifa, costs £1m with potential of 85 and can score from anywhere from the second you sign him. But seriously i've seen him play a few times and he's a great little player!

Agree3 Disagree6

This guy is really special, one of europes proper wonderkids. how much would we have to pay? between 12-15mil is my guess which makes me rather sceptical to be honest. would be a terrific signing though

Agree8 Disagree2

Would love this to be true but every half decent club in Europe wants to bag this guy.

Agree9 Disagree2

Hope this is true as Fischer is a real talent!

Agree6 Disagree1

You'll forgive me for pointing this out but this bloke is a left winger. He is not, nor has he ever been, an attacking midfielder.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree4 Disagree10

We bagged Okore from under Chelsea & Man United's noses, why can't we do the same with Fischer!

Agree6 Disagree6

Heard about this too, rumoured fee of £7m

Agree3 Disagree8

Wont come cause he singed a contract till 2017

Agree9 Disagree5

World class is used to much these days he is a good player pal not world class

Agree13 Disagree2

Hes not world class lol
although he has the potential, an we all know potential costs a hell of alot.

Unlikely.

>Scg87

Agree13 Disagree2

No he is not world class
messi
ronaldo
zavi
iniesta
van. persie
robben
this is ya world class bracked pall he don't fit into this simple.

Agree14 Disagree2

Benteke - £7m? Okore - £4m? They have masses of potential and they were both relatively cheap.

Agree7 Disagree8

Villa and Ajax are now in formal discussions over Fischer & the proposed fee is rumoured to be £5.9m (7m euros) + add on's of a further £2m-£3m.

Agree4 Disagree13

Have looked all over for this story and not a whisper of any transfer between villa and ajax? can we all stop making stories up please?

Agree8 Disagree3

I got the Jed Steer rumour spot on via my sources and those rumours disappeared in a flash. Maybe you just aren't looking in the right places?

Agree4 Disagree7

The story was soon newsnow
But has gone quiet

Agree7 Disagree1

Dutchvillan, why is Fischer going so cheap? 6m + addons? That seems like a silly silly amount of money for a highly rated youngster, he won't be going anywhere for that price, I'd believe it if It was 7m + 5m addons depending on his success but 8m just seems like a joke

>scg87

Agree11 Disagree2

Bargains are to be had - Okore is seen as a future world class defender (£4m) & Benteke (£7m - when we talked them down in price!).
Sometimes prices are seen by the public in inflated amounts but Ajax have always tried to build a squad of players who want to stay at the club when its well documented that Fischer is looking for a new challenge.

Agree9 Disagree9

Sorry but benteke wasn't seen as a potential world class player hence why we were the only club interested in him

An Okore, no matter how good he played against Chelsea last season in the CL, at the end of the day he was at a club that was playing the equivelant of league 1 footy an I don't think to many clubs were chasing him which tells us that not everyone was convinced about him.

Fischer on the other hand has been linked with virtually every "giant" club in Europe including Man United and scored prolifically as an AM last season in a good league, so if he really is available for £8m then them "giant" clubs would be making their move.

>Scg87

Agree10 Disagree2

I'd say learn your footballing facts firstly then - Arsenal & Inter Milan had been scouting Benteke for around 8 months before we signed him firstly! Okore had been subject of bids from both United & Chelsea.
Scg87, I suggest you do both research & look in depth into a players present & past situations before you say things in future mate.

Agree4 Disagree10

Is there anymore news on fisher dutchvillian is it any closer to been done

Agree0 Disagree8

Ok "Dutchvillan", why don't you tell us when Lambert is gunna sign Fischer?
Then on that day you can remind once again that I need to do my research.

BTW I stand by what I said in my previous post:)

>Scg87

Agree10 Disagree2

I think you missed the point DutchVillan, Fischer is considered to be in the same bracket as C Erikson, so it seems crazy to think Ajax would sell Fischer for £8mil ish when in 18 months he'll probably be worth double that £8mil.

Agree9 Disagree2

The deal has apparently hit a snag as Ajax are waiting over Eriksen' move, yet talks are continuing from what I hear. I'd have a look at the Joshua Gatt rumour above also, I heard something on that yesterday but nothing too solid on that rumour.

Agree4 Disagree8

You tell me how about deals of villa's you have successfully predicted, Scg87, or is all you do comment! because if that's all you do - I'd stop in your tracks right now mate.

Agree2 Disagree0

Dutchvillan,

I don't and never have claimed to have insider information, I don't predict what is gunna happen, I'm not a wannabe reporter who spreads rumours, I'm not interested in being the first to predict a signing, I simply give my opinion on players and the club I support but I do have is common sense, and it's only common sense to me that 1 of europes best prospects does not get sold for £8m

An if I made er 30 40 or 50 transfer predictions in pre-season, then I'm sure 1 or 2 atleast would have come true, just law of averages pal

surprise surprise, the fischer deal has "hit a snag" Lol
Thanks for that shocking news dutchvillan

>Scg87

Agree7 Disagree2

I've made 1 and its been correct. So right now my record stands at 100%. Commenting is perfectly fine, but you will understand sometimes bargains are to be had.

Rumour in Manchester is Utd are set to test Villa's resolve and come in for Benteke, and prove contracts mean nothing to the players, £38mil is the figure, and champions league to add to the carrot on the string, Sorry Villa fans but Squeeky bum time returns

Believable0 Unbelievable23

What a load of old rubbish! Man U didn't want to spend £30m on Fellani and Bains so why would they spend so much on Benteke?
If they were genuinly interested surely they would have gone for him when he handed a transfer request in a few weeks ago.

Man U are blessed up front with V. Persie, Rooney, Wellbeck and Hernandez so why would they need another striker?

To be honest if someone comes in with £38m for Tekkerz I would take it but its not going to happen

Agree16 Disagree2

Man u don't need a striker and 38m is a random figure atleast make it realistic

Agree15 Disagree2

FOR HEAVENS SAKE GIVE IT A REST.

What a load of rubbish, this is just another stir up.
Some people just have nothing better to do, let's talk Villa not garbage like this.

villadave

Agree11 Disagree1

More garbage coming out over benteke. journalists stirring it up again and fans being sucked in. Give it a rest!

Agree9 Disagree4

Nonsense

Agree6 Disagree2

If they want him they will have to break the bank. Man U ALWAYS get what they want, so as Toffees have said "The offer is disrespectful. " £38m is disrespectful. Time to play hard ball £50 this time or they can f--- off.

Agree6 Disagree2

What a fool. Let's us try and enjoy the ride without silly made up stories eh

Agree8 Disagree2

London tabloid tripe.

We can expect this any time we play Chelski/The Arse and the Spuds to be honest as they were "linked" to Benteke before. and we know how that went.

They will rehash anything in order to get someone to read the paper.

Man U are stacked. Spurs just signed a 28 YO, Chelsea have enough options and The Arse were just smashed by us, and don't look like they can do anything to get them in CL with all those injuries.

Hardly a desirable place to play currently.

Fellow Villa fans, ignore this rubbish. The haters will be present as long as we win games like we did on the weekend. just imagine what they'll say if we do Chelski tomorrow :)

UTV

Leroy

Agree6 Disagree2

Lets do Mourinho over then Kop at the Villa & see who'll be laughing come 2 weeks time!

Agree3 Disagree3

Man utd didn't even want to pay that much for fabregas who is a complete and proven MIDFIELDER (which is the position they need) why would they pay that much for benteke when he is not yet proven and has only had one good season

Agree3 Disagree3

20 Aug 2013 13:22:57
Notwithstanding the new contract, there is a possibility that both Arsenal and Chelsea will make bids for Benteke before the transfer window closes.
Arsenal are becoming increasingly desperate to sign players to appease fans and having failed to sign Higuain and Suarez, are now short on options. Villa will be a good place to demand silly amounts of money. Similar applies to Chelsea: if they fail to sign Rooney, Jose will look to find another forward with Drogba-style abilities. Benteke is the obvious target.

In many ways, a new contract is absolutely irrelevant. Nevertheless, the situation gives Villa an advantage, in terms of rejecting the bid or demanding an enormous fee.

Only have low to medium confidence in this. I suspect if a bid emerges, it will be close to deadline day.

Believable2 Unbelievable11

Drogba style abilities? Like Lukaku maybe?

Agree5 Disagree5

Chelsea have lukaku so no just no. And benteke would flop at arsenal as they do not play to his strengths

Agree3 Disagree4

Anyone else knew this was a load of tosh when the line "Drogba-style abilities" was mentioned?

Kingvilla would be proud of that line

Agree2 Disagree1

Some real people out there who react in absolute terms. I even said I had low confidence in this but still people throw their teddies around. If anyone notices reality, you will see that Jose still doesn't have full confidence in Lukaku.

So a bid for Benteke is credible from either Arsenal or Chelsea. Not sure about Man Utd.

Agree2 Disagree1

Lukaku? and he's younger than Benteke! that's just rubbish journalism! 2 players want first team football in a league where most clubs play 1 striker per game? rubbish!

Agree1 Disagree2

Considering what Mourinho said last night, no business will be done with Chelsea, and there's no clause or anything like that in his contract so this is bull

Agree2 Disagree1

Dutch Friend of mine that works for FC Twente says big rumor around club is several villa scouts have been looking at Duan Tadič attacking midfielder
Andykaff

Believable6 Unbelievable8

For a fee in what region Andy?

Agree3 Disagree2

18 million pounds, don't think it's going to happen, do you?

Agree5 Disagree4

Well as Nacer Chadli went for £7 million I don't think you are talking £18 million more like £10-11 million. As I said we have only been scouting him but seems like we have been scouting lots of players. But seems to fit PL mantra young, hungry and potentially great player who would double his value in 2 years.
Andykaff

Agree1 Disagree2

Probably about £12m & remember we just got £2m from Bent & the remaining £7m from Downing.

Agree5 Disagree2

Nacer chadli was in his last year of contract hence the 7 million fee. also we weren't willing to pay that so how are we going to pay 10-11 million. plus all the players are so called scouts are watching haven't come off. I believe Henkel is still having an input in our foreign scouting and his not officialy our scout, so this is no go.

Agree0 Disagree1

I think that this can be a very good deal for Aston Villa. He seems like a very good footballplayer.

Agree2 Disagree1

19 Aug 2013 19:45:44
you have the right team in stoke guys but the wrong player. its 10 mil bid for shawcross that's gone in but will be declined. hereing tonight despite lambert saying no last week that the barry deal is def on for deadline day a season lone with city picking up 70 percent of his wage.

KINGVILLA!! THE REAL ONE

Believable1 Unbelievable11

Who has bid for shawcross?

Agree2 Disagree1

The real Kingvilla? your rumours sound like something he'd put. not going to happen although i'd like shawcross I don't think we need him unless we pick up injuries. and as for the barry deal I would hate to see that happen and city wouldn't pay 70% of his wages that's just ridiculous. besides barry went for the money at city instead of playing in the CL with liverpool so he burned his bridges with the villa. i'm not normally one for holding grudges but I won't support him ever again. but however IF lambert did sign him my faith in lambert will remain the same. I think lambert is the best manager we've had in a long time, better than o'neil

Agree2 Disagree7

Barry went to a club that was going places unlike Liverpool. Barry has proved he made the right choice as he has now won the league. Barry gave Villa years of great service and only a person would say he has burnt his bridges.

Agree10 Disagree1

What is peoplea issue with Barry? He played for us for something stupid like 12years. I don't think u can knock his loyalty. We weren't paying him big. So what if at the end of his career he wanted to earn mega bucks and win the premier league. Fair play to him. GB u are a Villa legend and are welcome home whenever u like

Agree13 Disagree1

Its crazy that people can slate Barry. Yes he may have gone for the money but he was joining a team that were buying top quality players and were inevitably going to be challenging for medals. Him leaving has been jusitifed with what he has achieved there.

While a return seems unlikely according to reports I would be delighted to have him back.

The best Villa player in my life time (28 years)

Agree7 Disagree1

How r people calling Barry the best villa player in their life! THIS IS A JOKE! I think people are forgetting that Barry was our captain for 10 years and ye he was decent but nothing special. And after being our captain fot that long he went to the papers and slated our club. I would never welcome him back to villa!

Agree3 Disagree6

If you are going to question my opinion that he is the best Villa player during my lifetime then you really need to provide evidence to make me at least consider otherwise.

To suggest Barry was 'decent but nothing special' is ludacris. He was a revelation when he burst on the scene as a CB/LB. During his time at LM he and Samuel were one of the best pairings in the Prem and he was the heartbeat of the team under MON and a lot of our attacking play began or routed through him which lead to him becoming a regular for England under McLaren and Capello.

He was brilliant for us. Get a grip and grow up!

(PS he wasnt captain for 10 years!)

Agree6 Disagree1

I don't see the villa fans singing his name as they do to Paul McGrath which suggest Paul McGrath was a load better than Gareth Barry. The man can hardley run!

Agree2 Disagree1

What does ludacris have to do with it he is a rapper!
barry is terrible made AVFC look stupid and I too would never want him through our gates again. why do so many of u still kiss his butt?
as for naming better players in last 28 years, here goes
mcgrath mellberg southgate bosnich yorke atkinson saunders platt petrov to name but a few

Agree2 Disagree1

Barry best AVFC player in 28 years?
what a load of tosh
there have been so many better
mcgrath mellberg yorke to name just 3 but there are so many more.
cant understand why so many of us still like barry?

Agree1 Disagree4

When did Barry slate the club. All i've seen him do. is support the club. Been at VP a few times watching games when he's not playing. Comes to all the charity events. He even came to halesowen fc for Peteovs charitt match and stayed till every last fan (incl myself) had their pics taken with him and signed everything they wanted. Not only was he, is he a class player he is a top notch bloke!

Agree5 Disagree1

McGrath was amazing. Never trained just played on Saturdays. Wonder if he could get fit for this season.

We have had our hero's in the past and we should regard Barry as ready to add to the list.
When he first came to Villa age 17 he was a centre half, even a full back (all old words) and then he moved into the middle of the pitch. Now I wonder if we could put him in the back line with Vlarr etc. If it had not been for Beckham, I believe that Barry would have played for England many many more times. Erikson had a soft spot for Beckham but Beckham didn't want to know about Barry. He saw him as a threat to his role as Sven's team leader. Check how many times he was picked during the Sven/Beckham reign?
Yes I am a Barry fan, and believe that he could do the role that we lack, someone to steady the ship when panic sets in, because it does.

Agree11 Disagree1

Anyone who slated Barry is a prat.
No point arguing with them cus they are obviously jealous fools who just don't see the facts and are usually of the older generations who talk about the good old days

Barry easilly the most influential player we've had over the last 15 years an I'm not just talking about stats

>Scg87

Agree9 Disagree2

PROUD History BRIGHT Future - respect our history and be proud of players like Barry

Agree8 Disagree1

So two comments above shoot down barry for the way he left whilst also commending Yorke as a better player. i'll leave that there.

Agree5 Disagree2

Can't beleieve people are saying Barry's better Paul mcgrath, melberg, Larsen and even the recent ones like benteke and petrov, even Ashley young and downing were better. Plus david beckham was a league above Barry when he was at his best. He come second in the world player of the year Barry would never get in the top 50-100!

Agree3 Disagree4

Hang on? Are you really saying that Young, Downing, Benteke and Petrov were all better footballers for Aston Villa then Barry? Really? How old are you?!

I have followed the Villa since the Prem started when I was 6. Paul McGrath was a fantastic CB and a real cult hero. When he moved on we have had quality CB's in Southgate, Mellberg, Laursen and Dunne come in and do a great job for us (although individually not as good as Macca in my opinion). Yorke left and we have had Dublin, Angel and Carew who have been figurehead strikers. For me we have nad no player like Barry before or after. He had all the ability and vision of a Houghton or Draper or Cowans, all the tenacity of Richardson or Townsend and the goal threat of Parker and Taylor.

He has had more of an impact on the Villa team then any player during my life time IN MY OPINION!!

Some of the people on this site need to take a long hard look at themselves. Arguing with fellow villains about someone who has played a massive part in our recent history. School kids on the holidays!

And if you read the comments correctly the chap never actually said Barry was better the Beckham.

Agree7 Disagree1

Has anybody posted that Barry was better than McGrath, Melberg, Laursen?

Barry was so versatile and would have played between the sticks if asked. Beckham couldn't run, dribble or tackle. He could pass the ball and developed a free kick technique that was top class. His ability when pressed by defenders was questionable. His ego was greater than his ability.

If you want to see Beckham reaction to Barry look at old TV clips when after clattering Barry for about the tenth time at VP he was spoken to by the ref and walked over to Barry stretched out on the deck and told him to get up.
ERikson made Beckham and ignored Barry, when he went Barry was back in the England team.

Barry belongs with some of our hero's!

Wissam Ben Yedder is apparently a target along with Tom Lees.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Would love to go in for dragovic and will Hughes! Think these would take us on another step! Will Hughes very very accomplished on the ball and always looks to receive it even when marked! Dragovic is a very strong defender and would be a massive player for us! I think we have money to spend its just a case of the wage budget to conform with FIFA fair play!

Agree1 Disagree1

I would take that without thinking twice, Yedder is absolute quality

Agree1 Disagree1

Will Hughes is like Barry bannan good on the ball but just gets pushed of all the time to weak and small

Agree5 Disagree4

Ben yedder is a young and upcoming player and would fit in with PL's current ethos on players but 2 questions. firstly he is a striker so would he fit in as the creative AM we need? And secondly. where has this rumour come from because we did look at him in January but nothing apparent since?

Agree2 Disagree1

I believe dragovic has already moved to a Ukrainian side? not completely sure

Agree3 Disagree1

Personally I think we will sign two more players but none of the names mentioned here. I wouldn't be surprised if we spent a ball park figure of around 7m on two relatively unknowns.

Finch

Agree0 Disagree1

Will Hughes is weak an small like Bannan? You obviously havnt seen him play have you. Hughes is 6'2 if I'm not mistaken an he's not a skinny beanpole. He's only 18yo so his not yet fully physically developed.
He's an outstanding youngster!
Will be a star!

>Scg87

Agree9 Disagree1

Hughes is around 6 foot and is 17 he has time to beef up around bodymoor. Bannan is 5, 4 and has the phisique of a little boy

Agree6 Disagree3

I've watched maybe 3 derby games just to see how good he was and he was poor just got shoved of the ball. He's over rated

Agree1 Disagree3

In every derby game he has more touches completes more passes and dribbles than anyone else and always wants the ball.
hughes will be in england squad in 2 years tops

You saw Hughes play 3 times yet you think he's the same size as bannan? You joker lol

From very reliable sources aston villa have made an enquiry on the availability of junior hoilett from qpr looking to pay in the region of 4million pounds for the Canadian

Believable3 Unbelievable10

Sorry, can`t see this at all.

We already have plenty of wide players better than him, his goals to game ratio of 1 in 8 is not good, and his assists even worse 1 in 11 very poor.
I have seen him three times and have not been impressed, he drifts in and out of games.
He is no better than championship quality.

I would not welcome a move of this type.

I've been told we are swapping Barry bannan and Stephen Ireland for Troy deeney!

Believable1 Unbelievable16

I Imagine Watford would not accept. If we value them at 1.5m and 1m that's 2.5m. Watford would want at least another 1m, however the problem would be Deeney is paid prob 10k per week. Bannan would want 15k and Ireland is on 50k the extra 60k ish on wage bill is massive for Watford, its 3m a season, this deal is a non starter.

You forgot to leave your name, kingvilla

Breaking Insider Leak--No names please!

After a congratulating conversation with PL by Lerner & Faulkner, Lambert apparently asked for a Guarantee on obtaining one AM of three. Omar Abdulrahman/Georgino Wijnaldum/Ryad Boudebouz to which they replied "Yes You Can"

Real Madrid have put in a £7m bid for Villa frontman new-signing Nicklas Helenius to lead their B side frontline and be a future Madrid striker. My sources at the club have apparently said Helenius is not for sale and will be staying at Villa.

Believable9 Unbelievable6

He's been there a a matter of weeks! doubt he'll be moving again! I call bs

Agree5 Disagree2

Spain's second league with a possibility to maybe play for real madrid in a few years or the premier league now? Not to mention that this is a world cup year and he will no doubt look to get a call up which will not happen is he's playing for real madrids reserves. Also we aren't going to buy a player then agree to sell him a few weeks later. I'm not doubting your sources, but this all sounds like a bit of a wind up to me. Maybe somebody had a few beers after the game last night, said 'helenius could play for madrid' and it all escelated from there.

Agree3 Disagree1

I doubt this very highly

Agree1 Disagree2

You can't move twice permanently in the same window

Agree4 Disagree2

You can move to a different league twice in the same window

Agree3 Disagree3

Cannot happen this season, however did we sign him before the new season cut off?

Either way, I doubt this very much, I am now very excited about seeing him play for us!

Everything is coming up claret and blue roses this week. One new signing in the middle and I will start getting very carried away. I cannot decide whether a new holding midfielder to use in a 4 3 3 or a creative player for the 4 2 3 1 is the more imperative.

Agree5 Disagree2

A DM is more important, going forward we are very good, defensively we still look poor, more protection for the back 4 is needed

>Scg87

Agree8 Disagree1

I'd say against Arsenal we didn't set out to be defensive Scg87, we missed Sylla for sure though!

Agree1 Disagree2

What's setting out to be defensive got to do with it? Last season we played 5-4-1 at times an still were poor defensively, an if we set up in the same manor this season we'd still be poor defensively. We don't have a proper DM, yes sylla may well do that job to a very high standard in the future but I'm not convinced he'll be able to do that consistently this season.

I just feel that our defensive side is the only thing that will let us down this season, I'm not concerned about us scoring goals, with Benteke Gabby an Weimann as our front 3 we will always be a massive threat going forward

>Scg87

Agree5 Disagree2

How did we miss sylla mate? u must have watched a different game. KEA, delph and westwood were all superb especially delph.
sylla will find it hard to get back in the starting line-up on evidence of our midfields showing at arsenal and even more so should we dip into the market again which I doubt we will personally.

Agree7 Disagree5

Not one of the three can excite the fans just need someone who has a footballers brain

Agree3 Disagree6

The problem yesterday was the defence again! Look at their goal, matt lowton has gone forward (well within his rights) he has lost the ball and had to run back, so we had 1 defender out if the game. Then look at ron vlaar, while we have 3 at the back he decides to sprint past the midfield into the arsenals half and then misses a tackle making him the wrong side of the ball, leaving us with 2 defenders, therefore meaning baker had to go over, and luna had to mark both giroud and walcott. It didn't happen again, and we didn't concede again! If you ask me, I personally think vlaar is the problem, too busy trying to be a midfielder most of the time! Luna and lowton can go up the pitch because 9 times out of 10 they're back to defend but why on earth is our centre back running in front of our midfielders to make tackles half way up the pitch? He is meant to be our captain, so why didn't he stay in position and shout at somebody from the midfield to go and cover the right back slot so we still had 4 in the defence!

Agree4 Disagree2

The issue with the Arsenal goal was not solely down to Lowton getting forward, it was the tackle we missed leading to the ball to Oxlade-Chamberlain. Shows the need for a sitting midfielder who is able to cover when the full backs go forward

Agree2 Disagree2

Had you read the post properly you'll notice I didn't blame lowton, I blamed vlaar for his missed tackle half way up the pitch. Which then means that sitting midfield or no sitting midfield, ron vlaar is still going to run past the midfield and leave us short at the back.

Agree2 Disagree0

Have to agree that vlaar is the weak link too many errors for me. clark came on and was a lot more effective in his overall defensive performance and 90 percent of us thought he was the weak link.

Agree2 Disagree1

Agree mate, clark had a bad season last year but he was very good on saturday. I would like to see vlaar taken out of the defence just to see if we're organised back there. It seems a bit hypocritical to give him the arm band, let him tell players where they should be then ignore his position and play as a right midfielder. I don't mind him making a move up field if we're atracking and have the full backs in defence, but for a centre back to run to the half way line when we are defending is really the most ridiculous thing I have seen in quite a while, not to mention the fact we were already short in defence.

Agree1 Disagree0

EthAVFC

Seem to remember that Vlaar was up the pitch to take a free kick following a foul on Benteke and that it wasn't him that missed the tackle on the guy that played the ball to Ox-C. Let's just celebrate a great win, because after the goal Arsenal had very few chances in the first half and not many more in the second. When they did the brilliant Guzan was on hand.

GreatBarrVillian

Agree0 Disagree1

Just double checked mate, it was vlaar. We did manage to stay pretty water tight but if we keep giving away cheap goals cause of awful position we'll be in trouble still.

Quite an odd rumour surfacing that mentions that Real Madrid have made contact about Niklas Helenius.

Despite the fact that he has been at the club only a matter of weeks, the Spanish side are apparently willing to part with 5 mil for the striker, surely to play on the Real "B" side.

Surprisingly, this has nothing to do with kingvilla despite the rather perculiar nature of the rumour.

So Bent has completed his move to Fulham. And Delfounso has made his loan move back to Blackpool, just like I said weeks ago. Knew he would go there, as I knew of Blackpool's interest a good month ago. Expect there to be interest in Bannan as well, like I said.
Azza

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Well there is a good £110k p/w off the wage bill. I'm sure Lambo will look at bringing in 2 or 3 more new faces now then.

Hope so along side ireland, hutton, given, stevens and hopefully we can get a few more additions!

Agree4 Disagree1

Anything interesting on players coming in Azza?

Agree4 Disagree0

Mendax my good friend. I am convinced something is still very strong regarding Sadio Mane, Red Bull Salzburg, the young midfield man. His name has been on the wish list for a good few months now, scouted several times but I am unsure as to why the transfer is taken so long. Maybe its not going to happen but his name is still very much at the forefront. We'll see. Another name linked is obviously the Wijnaldum rumour but I feel this may be a bit pricey for PL and Randy Lerner. But again, we'll see. I am sure to say a few new faces will be signing for Villa before the end of the window. There are plenty of names to choose from. Finally, the Boudebouz link is still strong so I expect this one to either be finalised soon or not at all.
Azza

Agree1 Disagree4

Well done, Fulhams interest in Bent has been written about in the national media since the start of the window, and it was hardly stretch to think Delfounso would end up at Blackpool bearing in mind his past links with them. Well done for predicting the bleeding obvious!

Ruffall

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Any idea what the deal is anyone?

Agree1 Disagree2

5 million.

Agree1 Disagree5

Tv report offer nearer to £5m

Agree2 Disagree4

TV say 12 month loan deal covering most of his wages plus a 2m loan fee

Agree7 Disagree0

Sorry scrub that 5 million, its a season long loan with us still paying 20,000 pounds a week of his wages. also no option for Fulham to buy.
seems very strange this one, why not just take the 4 million they offered earlier and get him off the payroll. its not as if a season long loan is going to make him a better player for us next season.

Agree1 Disagree4

I thought it was a loan deal? Their paying us £1.5m for the season and are paying 100% of bents wages, that's what I heard, don't know how true that is.

>Scg87

Agree7 Disagree1

Can anyone clarify? tv say its a fee in the region of 5million but oher sites are saying its a season long loan?

Agree1 Disagree3

I'm hearing £2m loan fee plus wages but that's seems a bit extreme to me, if he's only worth £6m they may as well pay that and give him a 3 year contract which is £2m a year, what they are paying now. Also some people saying they are paying most of his wages plus a fee, why would they pay a fee but not cover the wages, if they give us money and 80% of his wages surely the money can cover the wages, making the added fee a complete waste of time!

Agree3 Disagree1

PL has confirmed that it is a season long loan, nothing about fee or how much of the wages is being covered by Fulham

Agree1 Disagree1

£2m loan fee with Fulham paying his full wages with no permanent buy option. Though its said that they will get first refusal on Bent if they pay an extra £3m.

Agree4 Disagree2

Fulham are keeping very quiet. My guess is its a year long loan with the majority of his wages paid for.
If he bags them 15 goals next season might encourage them (or someone else) to cough up the 6mill next year.

Agree2 Disagree0

EthAVFC, I completely agree, this is not really doing us any favours. I don't know why we didn't just accept the 4million they first offered and then he is at least off the books. Does anyone have anymore info on any last potential signings before the window closes apart from those already mentioned or further news on them?

Agree2 Disagree3

Bent gets what he wants and that is the opportunity to play 1st team football and a shop at the world cup which means he has to perform to achieve this. If he has the sort of season we all know he is capable of then his fee at the end of the season or after the world cup could be inflated again. Win-win and he won't be able to play against us this season either.

Agree1 Disagree0

If he scores a lot of goals I. e. world cup year, then it's good for us as he's still our player and we might get more for him next year. Remember no one matched our valuation which we thought was realistic because he hasn't played much last season. As for new incomings well truly no one really knows, it's all guess work. there might be some offers already in that might be accepted on deadline day. But they will be on Lamberts terms, remember Feyernord complaint about us over Vlaar deal saying we weren't professional. Also Bentekke at the eleventh hour because we weren't willing to match their valuation. I am not complaining just saying who ever may come in will be a bargain with everything to prove, no drama queens.

At this rate next year we will have probably the lowest wage bill in the Premier league. To sum up if any new signings are due then expect them late on deadline day as we have already done most of our shopping whilst others where still on holiday. As Holloway said some clubs don't need to buy so they can wait while others are trying to force it.

Agree0 Disagree1

I am confident to say on the Bent saga, its all wages paid for by Fulham and 2mil loan fee, no clause to buy after loan is complete. However, I believe there is 3mil buy add-on to have first refusal on Bent when loan deal expires. Also, in reference to VillaZac I am sure to say that PL see's a few signings a must before the window closes. We have, may have slipped the mind of many, also 5mil coming from Liverpool for final payment of Downing move. So that in conjunction with the Bent fee gives PL 8mil (ish) to play with. I have to say I think it will be a CAM and another CB/RB. Who I am unsure, but lots of names circulating.
Azza

Agree1 Disagree2

Tonny Vihenna and Gregory Wijnaldum are reported targets

Agree1 Disagree3

Very good business buy us in the end, that's IF he performs though. If he has an awful season and nobody wants him we're then stuck with him again. Either way i'm glad, we haven't got to pay his wages and we're making 2 million quid for loaning him for a year, I presume he only has 2 years left on his contract, might even only be 18 months so even if we do get stuck with him next season the loan fee will cover his wages until his contract runs out. Reckon he can get goals there and I wish him all the best, he's the only member of the bomb squad that couldn't really help being casted out and did still make an effort when played to some extent (baggies and wigan particularly)! Regarding signings, I hope we do get somebody else in, maybe 2 more but i'm growing less and less confident that it will happen if i'm honest!

Agree0 Disagree1

Brightest idea for us would have been a full wage loan until January, and then ig he is doing well he is for sale, 6m could turn into 9m if he bags 8-10 goals in that loan period.

Agree1 Disagree2

Gregory wijnaldum? think u mean either georginio or his younger, less well-known brother giuliano?

Agree2 Disagree2

Do you not think the money due from downing would already have been accounted for, bearing in mind the timing of payments would have be laid out in the original sale agreement. Doubt therefore that the sale to
WHU makes any difference to our budget {Ed007's Note - If a player is sold on all monies owed on his original fee must be paid in full.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Last I heard, Kop owed us £7m more from the £20m so they must have paid it off, surely which inflates Lambo's kitty.

Agree0 Disagree1

Listening to a sports reporter on talk sport this afternoon and apparently Villa were offered a loan deal for Gareth Barry as does not figure week in week out in Pellegrini's plans but as its a World Cup year wanted to offer him a way to play. Lambert refused the option and stated that 24 is the maximum age bracket villa will sign a player.

Andykaff

Believable5 Unbelievable5

So glad he isn't coming back as he would add nothing to our team. his form was awful last year and at 32 is WAY past his peak

Agree8 Disagree8

Andykaff.

I don`t believe the 24 bit.
There are plenty of players who are over 24 that PL would snap up if he felt that player would improve the squad.

If the price was right, and the wages fell within the clubs budget, 25, 26, 27, would not be an issue.

If they are going to improve our club I don`t give a toss how old he is.

villadave

Agree8 Disagree3

I'm with Dave. This age limit nonsense is an invention of the press
I cannot believe that Lambert would be so blinkered in his thinking
How old are Messi and Ronaldo now
Do you think we could squeeze them in somewhere?

Agree10 Disagree4

We signed Vlaar, Guzan and el ahmadi last year all of whom were well over 24!

Agree4 Disagree3

They were ALL 26 actually

Agree7 Disagree0

Guzan was hardly a new signing although I know his contract had run out and lambert re signed him and el ahmadi is rubbish so i'm happy he's not over paying for these useless premier league players like barry or parker etc. i'm happy with all the signing we have made completely trust lambert to bring in another great player and top half finish

Agree1 Disagree6

Mendax
PL and co are trying to run club like any business. Signing a player over 24 on a 4 year contract is not good business practice due to resale value decreasing.
Also hear no more signing this summer, have money available for CAM but PL believes Tonev can do role or Zoggy when he is back and if needed and options don't work will look to add in Jan like last year to give instant impact and improvements like Westwood and Sylla did.

Agree1 Disagree1

Westwood wasn't a january signing?

Agree1 Disagree2

Agree3 Disagree1

Agree2 Disagree1

Agreed ethAVFC, some people just disagree for the fun of it mate, I dunno how 8 people disagreed with me when I said barry is way past peak and played awful last season?

Agree3 Disagree2

Er they disagreed cus Barry did not play awfull last season, most City fans would say he's the only one who could hold his head high an say he done his job last season, he was still good and although I agree he's past his best he'd still be the best mid for us, he'd make all the difference in our midfield.

So according to press reports Palace will pay only 40k of Bents wages take him on loan and buy him only if he keeps them up?!

Sounds like something to flat out reject
QPR get paid £2m for Remy on loan for a season, whilst we have to subsidise his wages. sounds too one sided, keep him loan him out perhaps for a couple of months and we will see in January (worst case scenario) whether people short of goals will pay.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

What do you expect from a club with Holloway as Manager. He valued Adams at many £m's. Where is he now? He moaned about clubs playing a weakend team to protect the regular players. He even moaned about Villa for some reason. Just trying to get his own back, sour grapes.

Agree2 Disagree0

We should not be pushed into letting Bent or any of the other "fringe" players go anywhere on loan unless the deal is good for the club. If he truly wants to play football in the hope of regaining his England place then less ambitious wage demands may help rather than deterring would be suitors. Ditto for the others on the wage front.

I have nothing against Bent and wish him well in a new club.

Any AVFC transfer news-not about kiyotake or bent though, any new suggestions on a CAM or needed positions. I've heard 3m for Boudebouz looks like a less arrogant taarabt

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Ryad (riaz) is very arrogant, likes to get a boot in. Inter Milan were told 2.5 million a few weeks ago now we are been quoted 3 million. we only have 1 million left in our transfer budget so unless Bent is sold its a no go.
Before you go on about how we only have 1 million left it was 10 million plus any sales. Makoun bought in 2.5 million and we have spent 11.5 million.
Kiyotake has a buy out clause of 7.5 million. It was hoped Bent 6 million plus Bannan 600 thousand plus 1 million budget balance would cover it.
Sorry to mention Bent and Kiyotake in your post but you now know where we are. i. e. no sales outwards mean final signing will be from the lower divisions.

Agree1 Disagree3

Come on! It's not that randy has set a budget of $10 mill because lambert has gone way past that. It's all about the wages, if they sell bent for $2 mill villa will still be able to spend big on another player because effectively they will still be cheaper than paying bents wages. So villa will sign one more player at any cost. Then offload big wage earners anyway they can.

Agree2 Disagree1

Sorry to disappoint you mate but the Villa budget this summer isn't that tight - but Lambert isn't overdoing his spending, same as last summer when he didn't use his whole transfer budget. Its wages which are an issue not transfer fee's. We'll most likely go into the Arsenal game with this squad and take it from there.

Agree3 Disagree1

Well if its only wages that are the issue as you seem to think then we have already shifted a fair few wage packets i. e. holman, makoun, dunne, and some others released.
Also then why didn't we accept Fulhams 4 million for Bent?
we all thought uncle Randy would buy someone with experience in the January window and the Bent purchase was being used as an example that if it came down to it we could spend big, but it didn't happen.
there is only 1 million left in the kitty and remember all this bull about Bomb Squad wages that Lerner rubber stamped all their contracts and what has changed?
attendances are the same, sponsorship is higher, tv revenue is at an all time high, infact we currently have the lowest wage outgoings in our last 4 years.
face the facts, anyone who has seen their jobs gone to company closures will know what is happening.
Villa are being prepared to be sold.

Agree1 Disagree5

Yet we still have the eighth biggest wage bill in the EPL. Lerner is not selling up and if you think that, you are an utter fool. Most of our high wage players don't have relegation clauses and that's why we are shifting them out, big wages & don't want relegation clauses in their contracts. Don't make such a bold statement if you have no clue what you are talking about.

Agree2 Disagree2

Surely if he was looking to sell he wouldn't have spent £40m on players over 12 months? He'd have keep his money in his pocket and taken any income, squeeze it for the last penny then sell up.

Agree0 Disagree1

There always comes a time when someone says enough is enough and that's what randy is doing right now. He is making villa financially stable and competitive so that they prosper for longer than a season (ie QPR). I'd rather have villa around for my kids kids than worry about who else we can sign this summer. The higher earners will go eventually and villa will be here to stay. Say what you will but randy and the two Paul's are doing everything the perfect way.

Agree1 Disagree1

If we have the eighth biggest wage bill in the premier league then we should be pushing for European places not worrying about relegation clauses!
40 million in the last twelve months, don't make me laugh you utter fantasist!
If he kept his money in his pocket as you put it then we would of followed suit and not bought season tickets. It's clever business, as fans we are being fooled into this new way of young and hungry players, more like inexperienced, un-heard and cheap.
Even when our captain was being shown around villa park none of us knew who he was.
Less than 3 weeks before the window closes, we will see how much more we spend eh. Don't hold your breath!

Agree1 Disagree1

Sorry then not £40m about £37/38m which is there about what we have spent on new players since paul lambert took over. If he wants to sell, would he care about getting people through the gates? Do you seriously think he has made back what he's spent over the last 14 months? I'm willing to bet he is losing money, so if that was the case and he wasnt in it for the long term why would he keep throwing money into it? He wants the high wage earners who are not worth the money off the wage bill so his business is actually making some sort of profit, any business in the world would do exactly the same. Man city and teams like thay can aff

Agree0 Disagree1

Continued, pressed send by accident. Man city and teams like that can afford to pay high wages because they get huge attendances, they sell merchandise in every corner of the globe and they pay off from winning the league is pretty substaintial too. Randy's only income is tickets, merchandise and sponserships so why shouldn't he have the right to get rid of the people rinsing his bank account to make no difference to the income as they are not playing, and are not improving the team.

Bent has reportedly agreed personal terms with Crystal palace, meaning a deal may have been agreed
AlexberbUTV

Believable5 Unbelievable4

I read this garbage somewhere too. yet another story without backup i. e quotes and how can a player (bent) agree terms without the club (villa) accepting an offer?this is nonsense

Agree4 Disagree5

Its true being rported on several sites

Agree3 Disagree2

If this is true I wish the bloke well.

Pepavfc

Agree4 Disagree2

If that was true - Palace would be sued for tapping him up. What a stupid bit of reporting! {Ed001's Note - a club can give a player permission to discuss terms at any time, they don't have to have agreed a fee to do so. When a player is wanted off the books, clubs will often let him discuss terms with anyone showing interest, in the hope it will lead to an offer when they agree personal terms.}

Agree1 Disagree1

Palace still not agreed a fee, they want villa to drop the asking price. What a bloody cheek, I think 6mil is a bargain!

Agree2 Disagree2

Th Mirror reporting Bent saying he can still play for England. PHAHAAH.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bent could still play for England IMO, he's a good player but benteke kept him out the team and we want to get rid of his wages, he's still good enough and could score 10-15 if he leaves

Agree4 Disagree2

He probably can. He's a great poacher. Just too lazy not good enough in the air and too old to get in our team/formation. Although I don't wish him well as I cannot stand the bloke he's so arrogant

Agree1 Disagree1

Palace want to loan db

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing with Bent is, you have to put a lot of "ifs" in front of his name to present a case for him being a good player these days.
If he doesn't have to track back
If we play with wingers
If you give him the ball earlier (i. e play a more direct game)
If you send low crosses in to the box
At Villa, we just don't have that luxury and a doubt a team like Palace do either
Blimey, I've bored myself talking about the bloke now

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Who the heck is he.

Agree3 Disagree4

Boudebouz is a young algerian born att mid/winger who is a regular at youth level with france a very quick player both in a dribbling and sprinting sense unsure if he is the creative talent we really lack but would definitely add something slightly different he has good potential

Agree3 Disagree2

Plays for Sochaux and was linked with Liverpool a year or two ago

Agree4 Disagree1

His stats and youtube videos are both very poor but usually youtube can make anyone look good and that wasnt even impressive. would rather hold out for a better player than another attacking midfielder/winger need someone that can play behind the strikers in the centre

Agree0 Disagree4

His stats are good for a midfielder and his youtube videos are actually great, did you not see the goal where he volleyed a cross into the top corner from 16 yards out? I've actually seen him play when I watched 60 mins of a french ligue 1 game as there was nothing else on tv and he actually looks a very good player and very skillful so if this is true i'll be very happy! Especially as inter were heavily linked with him.

Agree1 Disagree0

The 3m fee comes within our budget so I can see this rumour might have some wheels to it.

To add to this Carruthers move out on loan, I have a very strong feeling PL is in advanced hopes that an AM will be arriving in soon. Who that is I am unsure but with Wijnaldum, Kiyotake and Knockaert on his list, it could almost certainly be anyone of them or a complete surprise to all of us! He wouldn't be letting Samir leave on loan, if he didn't have someone to replace him, that's for sure, so expect movement for inbounds very soon. This is only reinforced also by the sale of Bent which should be finalised beginning of next week, with Fulham looking the most likely destination. Good luck to the lads today against Malaga, big test for them and should be a great game. VP will be rocking!

Watching the game today a cam is the only missing link. Tonev played their today and although he did show quality he was sometimes a bit greedy. He will proabably be better on the wing, otherwise really good match all we need to sort out is not ebbing away at half time

Agree4 Disagree1

Really?! from watching the game today and throughout preseason i'd prioritise a center half.
Over recent weeks my opinion on a much needed CAM has eased because I feel no matter what happens watching us we always look capable of scoring.

Finch

Agree4 Disagree6

Good point well made finch, we can't defend, but I think vlaar will have a good season due to world cup and I also think okore is absolutely quality! Also baker is a good player just needs to think a bit more. We certainly do have goals, the reason we went on such a good run at the back end of last season is because out mentality was pretty much 'lets score more than they do' and we certainly put plenty of goals in the back of the net. This said I do still think a cam is needed, our play is very one dimessional in the sense that the ball always ended up being kicked to benteke's chest. We do need a link between the midfield and the defence, especially as most of our CM's prefer to sit back and our so called wingers last season were still playing as wide strikers in a sense, that's because they are strikers though. Surely giving ourselves the option to play different ways isn't going to hurt us, as long as whoever we sign isn't lazy!

Agree2 Disagree2

We have 4 centre backs already finch, adding another would solve nothing we need to bed okore in and we can expect even more from baker and vlaar this season. having 5 centre backs and never really knowing what our strongest pairing is would be detrimental

Agree2 Disagree0

Sorry when I say we need a link between midfield and defence I mean midfield and attack, forgive me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your counting Clark as a center back them I take it? For me he will never fulfill his potential in this role.

Finch

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see kiyotake signed up, I also think tonev could play in this position too. Like I said I think wev goals in us and my realistic opinion is one of hope mote than optimism that vlaar will improve. At the moment my defensive pairing would be baker and okore.

Just putting this out there as it has been hovering around people and Aston Villa FC today! News that Anthony Knockaert (Leicester FC) has been mentioned and heard through the grape vine. Good little player and has really talent, been touted for big things but not in favour at Leicster under Pearson. What do we think? Would be a snippet of the price we would pay for Kiyotake and can very successfully play in the AM role. Quick, agile, skilful, athletic and has a great pass on him!
Azza

Believable2 Unbelievable8

He is a quality little player but Leics won't sell him. He's not out of favour, just cus he didn't play against leeds doesn't mean he won't be one of Leics key players! But he's not ready for prem yet. Far to inconsistant. As a Villa fan living in Leics I get down to a few Leics ganes and he is far too hit and miss. in a couple of years maybe.

Agree6 Disagree1

I wouldn't say no, he's a good player and can score some very good goals, but I still think we should be setting our sights a little higher.

I'm not sure why nuremberg would want to wait until after the World Cup to sell, kiyoteke can't even get in the Japanese starting 11, he'll struggle to get ahead of Honda an Kagawa who seem to take turns playing in the CM/AM position or atleast that's how it seemed during the confed cup.

>Scg87

Agree8 Disagree2

AVFC 4 LIFE,

When you say wijnaldum wouldn't be too costly, how much exactly do you think he'll cost?

Agree5 Disagree0

Not sure exactly mate but my guess would be between 10-15 mil (around the same as kiyotake) maybe a little less but certainly cheaper than others named in past, (lamela, son-heung min). this may sound expensive but he is more creative, faster and works harder than kiyotake

AVFC 4 LIFE

Omar Abdulrahman, I appreciate for now his just another name of someone who we may not get, but the association is kinda exciting and positive.

It also shown that wth Kiyotake/Wijnaldum/Omar we should by the and of august have someone who we'll pay the price to watch whatever the team, especially our own.

I wish PL would realise as much as a magicman to ignite the passions we also need a strong man to anchor the team someone like Kouyate.

No good having the frills without the base on which to build the spne

Agree2 Disagree1

Not Spne but SPINE

Agree0 Disagree0

I think our anchor man is Bacuna, with a few other options Delph/Sy Wijnaldum would take aston villa up a few more levels, and has a bit of everything flair/skill/pace/goalscorer/creative passer can even spank a freekick.

The question is how much do we want him, as waiting for the departure of others at this stage or for the value to improve is a bit risky. look at Asrenal. Kiyotake club is already playing hardball, however a solid bid for Wijnaldum would get our Man, plus the Dutch contingence of Ron/Bacuna should convince him villa park is the place to be. with our Dortmund esq football.

Agree0 Disagree2

Nah bacuna isn't a deep lying player in my eyes. in fact he could be nurtured into the missing link role as a creative number 10 type

Agree4 Disagree0

When I've seen Bacuna play in pre season he's played as a right winger, don't think he's played DM yet, can't see him playing as a DM this season, he looks a good player going forward

>Sch87

Agree4 Disagree0

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I saw bacuna playing RB, so does this mean he will be the one to provide cover for lowton.

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah he's a utility man and a good player to have in the squad as he can cover several positions. Not really bothered which player we sign as long as they add real quality to our midfield and don't cost a bomb. We need a bit of class who can break down defences when they decide to park the bus. Don't know too much about the above midfielders but trust Lambert judgement 100%. Utv

I cannot be sure, I am never 100% but his name was popular in the AVFC boardroom and I know he fits PL's system and youth policy. Alan Hutton is probably one of the worst footballers I have ever seen and he has the audacity to break up his move over personal terms you could have got yourself a nice suntan and sold timeshares you and bannan Ireland are greedy.. I've got nothing against given or bent but it would be nice to ship them out for their sake aswell and while there at it take clueless Faulkner with them he's got the capabilities to be the next Tory leader up the villa

Believable8 Unbelievable5

What did hutton do to you? Is Mrs. Villamurf now Mrs. Hutton?

Agree4 Disagree1

I have to say I find it a little strange that people are so vociferous with their "greedy" attacks on the likes of Hutton and Bannan
When Benteke was looking like he could go to Tottenham I was slaughtered for suggesting he should be forced to honour his contract
It was explained to me, quite vehemently, that if I was offered more money in a different job, I would be off as well (not true by the way)and it was perfectly acceptable for Benteke to want to go if that was the case
Using that logic, why on earth would you expect a player to take a drop to move from a club?
You can't havfe it both ways guys

Agree6 Disagree1

Hi Mendax.

I have to say, Benteke is a completely different kettle of fish compared to Hutton and Bannan.

Benteke has given us a different dimension as to the way we play and also a dependable target man.
Hutton and bannan have given us nothing.
Hutton is an aggressive thug, and Bannan although he can create the odd chance here and there is not good enough in our system.

If they are as good as they think they are, move on and prove it, and if it works for them fair play, they prosper.

I would suggest they both depart, man up and rekindle their footballing styles elsewhere.

villadave

Agree3 Disagree2

Is mrs villa Murf was now mrs Hutton she would be facing a divorce

Agree4 Disagree0

The thing is benteke is a good player

Me

Agree3 Disagree2

Sorry Dave, I think we are at cross purposes. You are bringing football ability into it. The point I am making is that Benteke was defended on purely economic logic, yet Bannan and Hutton are attacked for applying same said logic. When people were telling me I would move if offered more money in another position, there was no caveat that said "assuming you are actually good at the job"

Agree4 Disagree0

PL and villa have been great at signing players this summer but when it comes to selling they are hugely to blame, outcasting the players and letting the world know that they will not feature in the team and then expecting clubs to pay reasonable money for a player they know the club doesn't want was foolish. does anyone have any idea how much of a loss villa would suffer to cancel some of these ridiculous contracts? surely there couldn't be many years on the hutton/ireland/bannan/stevens contracts?

Agree1 Disagree1

The difference is benteke would cost 25 million whereas, Hutton costs £2. 50

Agree2 Disagree0

Hutton was quoted as saying since signing for villa it's been a nightmare then surely given the opportunity he should have left oh I forgot he's short of a few quid I agree with mendax about bentekes loyalty but the point is he did more in one season than the all the greedy b------s put together who will quite happily sit out there contracts wish I had a job like that what a nightmare!

Agree1 Disagree0

I think their being attacked on their ability and lack of effort, rightly so. If I got paid that much money to do an awful job for my employer I'd expect criticism too.

Finch

Agree1 Disagree0

At the end of the day why would anyone leave a job to a lower paid and lower standard one? even bannan whos probs on 20k a week, if he went to championship on 10k, that's half his wages gone! sure its greedy but they are technically working for their living. wouldn't be surprised if we only see fonz, hutton and bent leave out of the 'bomb squad'

Agree3 Disagree0

Agree with the above comment, but on the other hand, why don't footballers actually want to play football anymore? If I was sitting on the bench for 20k a week and was offered the chance to play week in week out for 10k a week, i'd take it. I just don't understand how people can be cheeky enough to have one of the best payed jobs in the world and still want more. the majority of people in the world are on an average wage at best which is just enough for an alright house and car and a lot of people can't even afford to eat, while these boys have mansions and bugatti's and its still not enough for them. And considering half of their wages come out of the pockets of the people with no money that pay for season tickets and a whole lot of merchandise I find it ridiculous!

Agree4 Disagree3

Fonz is better than bowery, end ov.

Agree1 Disagree6

I think players would want to move on for lesser wages, because of career longevity. If you are seen to be acting like a mercenary over a year or two on a contract this would not bode well with future employers and so may effect future employment

Agree2 Disagree0

I for 1 cetainly agree with ethAVFC. incredibly somebody actually disagreed would love to know why?

Agree1 Disagree1

Fonz is NOT better than bowery he is a total waste of time and space

Agree5 Disagree1

Give over mate. Clubs don't gove a monkeys about whether a player is a mercenary or not as long as he is their mercenary and is doing the business on the pitch
Benteke has done a number on us and we are all celebrating his stay (I include myself in that)
Suarez has demonstrated on a regular basis that he is problem child and a nutter to boot and Arsenal are tripping over themselves to sign the guy.
The norms of everyday employment just do not apply to football

Agree1 Disagree0

With the limited ability they have, do you honestly think they will ever have the chance to earn the kind of money they are on now?
They are on the downslope careerwise. They know, you know it and their agent definitely knows it
Whether they have career longevity or not will not have anything to do with them effectively honouring a contract they already have
It's not their fault at the end of the day.
It was Alex McLeish who thought Hutton was worth the fee and the contract he ultimately signed

Agree0 Disagree0

What we seem to be doing here is formulating arguments for us to get what we want ie rid of the likes of Bannan, Hutton and the like
Those arguments have no resonance with the players themselves

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks, also not sure why somebody would disagree. People seem to confuse it with average people, yes somebody earning just enough to feed their family would not take a job that pays less because they could not afford to, but when these dopes are being payed ridiculous money that they can't possibly spend why do they always want more? They get to do the thing we love for a living, without having to work, and they get payed insane money. While i'm not one of these people that thinks footballers are overpaid, since it is a very popular sport that generates a whole lot of income, I do think that some of these lads should be grateful for what they've got, and to take bannan as an example, he should just be grateful to earn 10k a week for the quality of football he plays.

Agree1 Disagree1

So if a player isn't in the first team he isn't playing football, what tosh. they train every day as do the first teamers they will play reserve matches once or twice a week as do the first teamers. sitting on the bench occassionaly and playing football all week for 20k sounds like a good number to me. I for one do not blame the players they have committed their life to the sport from an early age 8 or 9 missed out on a normal upbringing in order to be committed to the sport. now they find they are not good enough anymore they are bound to stay and take the money. don't blame them blame whoever signed them for the monies they are on. especially hutton who should never be in the epl but your manager of the time thought he was worth it, could you imagine hutton saying "o don't pay me that much I am not worth it" no and neither could i. in their position you would all do the same.

dave

Agree0 Disagree2

Dave you are joking right? how can u feel sorry for these muppets? I would play footy as my job for mininum wage as I enjoy it that much, they are very greedy, these boys are so lucky to be playing footy for a living earning 10-20k a week especially the awful effort and quality they put in and you think they have it hard?joke of the century seriously

Agree0 Disagree0

At which point did I say I feel sorry for anybody read the post buddy read the post. I said as perhaps you have just done, that if it was me I would do the same as we all would

dave

Agree1 Disagree0

Dave, the reason they are in the game is to play football at the highest level, not to train with 19 year olds in the eyes of nobody other than a youth team manager. Are you seriously suggesting they get a kick out of having a casual kick around with some kids while their mates are playing professional matches every weekend in front of 10's of thousands of people? Why do you think they started at the age of 8 or 9? Why do you think they train as hard as they do? To play at the highest level possible. Maybe for some its more about money, but if that's the case they should hang up their boots and put the money they've earnt into their own business.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ethavc when you get to a certain point in your carrear as these guys obviously have yes my friend it is about the money they may have wanted stardom in the past (hutton) tried it at spurs but he wasnt good enough realised this and looked for a pay day which he had obliged, why do YOU think they are still there taking a pay cheque hutton could have gone to prove my point he stayed to kick about with kids whilst taking his BIG pay cheque him being smarter will take as many pay cheques until he can't anymore then laugh all the way to the bank and THEN start his own business

Aston Villa want to offload their flops before making a move for Nuremberg's Japanese star Hiroshi Kiyotake. Darren Bent, Barry Bannan, Alan Hutton, Nathan Delfouneso, Shay Given, Stephen Ireland and Enda Stevens must be shifted.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

I can't see all of those players leavin maybe bent given and ireland but none of the rest.

Agree4 Disagree2

I think that this is bad news. Why would Paul Lambert buy Hiroshi Kiyotake instead of Georginio Wijnaldum? According to Wikipedia Wijnaldum is a playmaker and has a better goal scoring ratio than Kiyotake. Wijnaldum is exactly the kind of player Aston Villa should be signing. He would probably cost £8-9 million, which is a bargain. In my opinion Kiyotake is lazy and he has a terrible goal scoring ratio. Paul Lambert is only looking at bad players these days. I do question his motives, and I don't support him in this transfer.

Agree2 Disagree9

You've got to be joking, we will never get rid of Ireland, Stevens, Hutton and given because there all s*** and nobody wants to buy an aston villa flop

Agree4 Disagree2

This is nothing new.

Agree4 Disagree1

If signing kiyotake is really dependant on us shifting our unwanted seven players, or for that matter even SOME of them by the end of the transfer window it just ISN'T going to happen.
It is quite obvious that nobody wants our overpaid cast offs. Given refuses to drop down a division but who in the Premiership wants him now? And no one is even slightly interested in I reland, and who can blame them?.

Agree3 Disagree0

Here we go again. First it's Newcastle, then it's Fulham, next it's Palace and now today it's Stoke who are ALL supposed to want Darren Bent.
Will one of them actually BUY him then and put an end to this ridiculous saga?!

Agree5 Disagree0

Who is this expert in the transfer market who doesn't trust Lambert and thinks he is only buying bad players because he wants to buy Kiyotake /.

Agree4 Disagree3

Kiyotake would be a great buy, However Wijnaldum would be even better

But how can you even justify your comments about s*** players PL has bought WHO?

The fact that we are linked to players of this quality in a position AM which we have been crying out for over a decade, makes you sound like a kid in Willy Wonker factory wanting Cadburys cream egg Duuuuh!

Wijnaldum definitely would be my 1st choice but Kiyotake would not be 2nd choice. wait for it, it's because both players would add much needed quality to our team, I just think Wijnaldo! would require no transitional period, the team is ready made for his skill set, the fans would be excited with his every touch.

REMEMBER WE KNOW NOTHING AS PL HAS SAID NOTHING!

Agree2 Disagree0

I'm not saying that Paul Lambert has only bought bad players. Look at Ron Vlaar, Christian Benteke and Nicklas Helenius, they are very good signings. I'm saying that he should buy the better footballers if we are going to win titles again, for example the FA Cup and the League Cup. I just really think that Wijnaldum is the better option here.

Agree2 Disagree2

Kiyotake would be my preferred choice, the bundesliga is a much better standard of football than the dutch league so arguably he would settle in quicker and hit the ground running in the English league.
I don't think we have to get rid of all of the bomb squad to get him, perhaps just one of the big earners ie bent or Ireland. preferably all of them though!

I have seen the more skills of Wijnaldum and Kiyotake, and now I think that maybe he should buy both of them.

Agree2 Disagree1

Kiyotake got 17 assists last year. Wijnaldum got below 10

Agree1 Disagree1

Doesnt matter which league they come from. look at benteke who settled in faster than the speed of light coming from the mighty belgian pro league! and kiyotake didn't get 17 assists he got around 10 only 1 or 2 more than wijnaldum. kiyotake would NOT be a better option than wijnaldum at all. wijnaldum is faster more creative has a better eye for goal and is way less static during a game than kiyotake whos best attribute is crossing

Rodwell announced first thing in the morning then a few can eat there words on here.

Kingvilla

Believable4 Unbelievable17

I will say sorry a million times to you personally if this deal happens (not that I want it to anyway)

Agree7 Disagree0

I shall gladly wolf them down mate.

Agree5 Disagree2

We believe you mate, honestly we do

Agree1 Disagree5

I'm 50/50 on this because of his injury past, I don't see this as a signing Paul lambert would make because of the high wages and injury risk. I remember how we got stuck with Jenas a coupleeasons ago and if this is true I reckon the same thing will happen again. would make more sense to go for someone like Liam Bridcutt who would most likely be a lot hungrier, cheaper on both the wages andtransfer price (I know it's a loan but Kingvilla said there'd be an option to buy for £10mil after the loan finishes).

Agree2 Disagree5

Kingvilla, I hope your right, a fit Rodwell who plays 40 games a season would be outstanding for us, but just can't see it happening.

>Scg87

Agree11 Disagree5

You also said it will be announced
Last friday its now Monday so I can't
Really believe you

Agree8 Disagree0

Is this guy on something or what! Getting fed up with nonsense rumours, belhanda this, Rodwell that! 100% certain Rodwell will not be signing for Villa today. Stop with all the lies Kingvilla!!

Agree8 Disagree0

I am a professional football assosciate, as many others are on here, been working with top players and coaching staff for many years, am a professional analyst and scout, with Uefa A license coaching badges and you quite frankly do my head in! I'm sure many will agree! Yes this is a rumours site, but don't feed it absolute garbage, at least my statements and others like me talk sense and possible targets with real links and sources. #avfc
Azza

Agree4 Disagree5

Why what's that, its 1pm and no Rodwell, what a surprise

Agree3 Disagree0

Haven't seen any announcement?

Agree4 Disagree0

Talk of rodwell coming in is just plane stupid, he is on 55k a week villa are tryin to remove high earners off the wage bill not bring more in, there is a lot of good rumours and facts on this site but these stupid ones are really annoying there isn't a 1 per cent chance of it happening we might bring 1 more player in I think it will be on deadline day and will be an am and that's if we get rid of the players we are trying to that a fact don't think anything more than that will happen.

Agree4 Disagree2

. Starting to get hungry now.

Agree4 Disagree1

The way I see it is that even if it were true jack rodwells not going to help us get back into Europe or anything silly like that so why bother signing someone on loan when we can just develop one of our own?

Finch

Agree5 Disagree4

I like rodwell he's really really good

Agree6 Disagree4

I see today that the London based newspaper hacks just won't let the Benteke to Spurs business go. They are like a dog after a bone. Now it seems that if Bale leaves Spurs they will come back in again before the window shuts armed with a few more millions. Presumably there was no point in him signing a new 4 year contract as according to them it's not worth the paper it's printed on. Do they never give it a rest?

Agree1 Disagree3

Villa king gone to ground or did he buy Rodwell on championship manager today

Agree2 Disagree0

Hi Azza - I quite agree that there are some quite ridiculous notions posted on here with hilarious regularity (maybe that's what keeps us/it going?) and the Rodwell one might as well be from Roswell. Know it's daft but stranger things can/do happen so let's just wait and see without prejudice. Also, whilst not wanting to cast any aspersions or throw mud, we only have your word for it that you are who you say you are and Kingvilla who he/she says/thinks he/she is. For the record, I'm a complete nobody and have no inside knowledge/football background other than a love for the game but would humbly suggest that we should all stick to the 'football transfer rumours' context of this site rather than let it all get overly personal. What do you reckon - shall we all call a truce? Or would that be completely boring?!
Pete D

Agree3 Disagree1

I agree with both the tone and the content of everything Pete has said here

Agree1 Disagree1

Please step forward the 4 people that agreed with this ludicrous rodwell transfer that kingvilla made up.
either u don't know this guy lies all the time or you're just stupid
or were they sarcastic agrees?
would LOVE to know.

Agree5 Disagree2

Nah that would be boring pete D lol

If someone (kingvilla) is gunna come on an make predictions as if their predictions are fact, then 'they' will get stick, all banter, all in good fun.

Where you gone kingvilla? Lol

More to the point where's Rodwell? :)

>Scg87

Agree5 Disagree0

Just been released from the rodwell camp can be confirmed he will be escorting his granny to bingo tonight you heard it here first people

Agree2 Disagree0

Completely agree Pete. Let the rumours and transfer talk continue as it does. I was in no way trying to make things too serious, just voicing my professional input. Just feel someone who comes in, says something is definitely going to happen, 150% certain and blasts it all out, should really not be doing that. When it happens on more than one occassion and nothing ever results from it, it gets a bit tedious. Rumours are great, transfer speculation is great, but rubbish statements and arrogance is very unprofessional. You have my word (if you wish to beleive) my profession and my roots. Otherwise enjoy the site as normal. Let the transfer window do the talking then. Your comments are appreciated Pete.
Azza

Agree0 Disagree0

Not going to lie but king villa has said villa are going to sign van Der vaart, Zapata, rodwell and wijnaldum ( and probably more just can't remember) but when I type Rodwell to Aston villa into google not even one rumour comes up about it, it just goes on about how he got injured when playing against us. So i'm sorry but I think king villa is not a villa fan and likes making up impossible rumours that will never happen

Agree3 Disagree0

Couldn't agree anymore with Pete.

Agree1 Disagree0

Its the afternoon now. Where's Mr Rodwell? First thing this morning kingvilla said

Agree1 Disagree0

Hi Azza
Using your contacts, do you then know of anything bubbling under the surface that could happen?

Agree1 Disagree0

I know, late on his first day, what a joke

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks, Azza - important to say that I don't doubt your professional integrity (never have) but you got the point I was trying to make, so I appreciate you being even-handed and for doing that. Also realise that perhaps I came over as a bit holier-than-thou - sorry if anyone got that impression! You're right - not meant to be a totally serious site but like you, just wish we would stick to the rumours and leave the childish stuff for the playground. Pete D

Agree2 Disagree0

Have I missed the press conference and grand unveiling of Jack Rodwell?
What squad No has he been given? I might pop down the villa village and get my shirt ready for his debut Saturday!

The_12th_Man

Agree0 Disagree0

Mendax,
Like many others working in the game or indeed just circulating through the rumours and talk, it can be confirmed that PL is looking to add and in more than one position. The hype of a 'playmaker' are true but when and who are very hush hush at the moment. We are aware interest was in Kiyotake but that has chilled down somewhat and I believe that until Bent and/or Given and Ireland are sold permanently, we shall not see any influx of players. The one thing I am confident about is, the need to address the '2 in every position' theory that PL has followed. So where we are short of a player, another one may very well possibly come in as cover and competition. Lambert is adamant that this young, hungry and committed approach is what all his players will possess. I will keep updating the site as and when I hear and know things, but it is all very secret in the AV camp, just the way PL, PF and RL like it.

I have been told this morning that Bannan is in Glasgow with his agent. No more detail than that, but I suppose seems a logical step, although can't see any club is Scotland paying more than Blackburn? Anyway, I have no way of confirming this, but it has come from the same person that told me that Bannan was negotiating with Blackburn, and that the deal was falling through, both times before it was reported in the media.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

What happened to the rumour that Blackpool were going to take both Bannan and the Fonz?
That seems to have died the death.
Which club in Glasgow is it?
Rangers, Celtic or another?

Agree1 Disagree0

Would take him for Celtic but can't see it after we signed the Dutch boy on the left wing

Agree2 Disagree0

Celtic and Motherwell are interested. I am aware of interest from Scotland through his agent, after he spoke to a member of my coaching team regarding the switch.

Agree1 Disagree2

The rumour/statements of both Bannan and Delfounso to Blackpool are still strong yes, interest from Scotland I think is purely based around his Scottish links, however I am unsure for definite. Blackpool still heavily linked with both of them and can see this one materialising. Hope this clears things up. We shall just have to see how things develop.
Azza

Agree1 Disagree0

Rodwell is an over rated player who is never fit. 100% not what we need.

Rasmus Elm has apparently told is agent to get him out of Russia, mumblings that Villa are interested, nothing solid as of yet though.

Believable4 Unbelievable8

If he plays in russia u know what what that means, he earns a million pounds every time he breathes so too expensive at least on the wages front anyway.

Agree6 Disagree0

This might have legs, as we were in for him before he moved, tidy player. {Ed007's Note - Why are you answering your own posts? Are you ill?}

Agree5 Disagree1

Busted!

Its not the first time someone on this site has done it also. Not to mention liking your own posts several times per day so you can lift the ego a little.

Just stick to the banter guys, thre are some very passionate and knowledgable contributors. no need to resort to childish antics

Leroy

Agree5 Disagree4

I agree with the chap who said he thought our spending was over for this window although I would agree we could really do with a good attacking midfielder.
Also don't believe that any of our 7 unwanted players will be shifted in the current window. Now rumoured that Fulham have withdrawn from Bent chase, if indeed there is a chase on for him.

Agree1 Disagree3

With you one 100 percent Leroy
That said, I have to confess I have "liked" my own posts a few times
Sorry, but they do say admitting the problem is the first step to resolving it
Won't happen again

Agree0 Disagree3

So now Joe Kinnear tells us he has thrashed out a deal for Bent with his agent and is now talking to Villa.
Thrashing out terms with Bent's agent is not the same as agreeing a fee for the sale so knowing Newcastles reluctance to spend a penny when they can get away with a halfpenny I still don't see this deal getting done.

Agree3 Disagree0

The original post said "nothing solid as of yet" then the follow up post was just to let people know we were linked previously (found it on talksport site, AFTER I posted). so I replied again, granted this doesn't really prove anything, just thought it might add something?

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2013 22:52:23
I can't believe Fulham are negotiating a 6mill fee for bent, For me he's worth every penny and they should cough up. Also a little surprised there's been no offers from abroad too.

Finch.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Teams know PL is desperate for Bent to be gone hence why no one is in any rush to pay £6m, they know come the end of august we'll except almost any offer, PL devalued him by freezing him out an treating him like s*** for so long.

Remember a Turkish club was interested but bent didn't want to know.

>Scg87

Agree10 Disagree0

I woudnt say lambert has treated bent (or any other player) particularly badly. we play with 1 forward and that's benteke so what did u want PL to do, play him in another position?
my point is that just because certain players didn't feature as much as they wanted to last season doesn't mean PL has been unfair to anyone. over 20 players in a squad and we have to pick the 11 each week that we think will win the match.

Agree3 Disagree9

I know you all won't want to agree with me but I do recall an interview with lambert a few months ago him saying that he wanted all his transfers in before the germany tour, and he did make all them before the tour. and then squad numbers have all been given also. does this not point to wards no more transfers to be made?

i of course hope there is that vital one more signing AM like we all want and feel we need. just reminding people of lamberts words and to maybe not expect another face before start of the season

kev

Agree1 Disagree5

I agree that Lambert hasn't treated Bent that badly
Bent's problem is that he is totally one dimensional and has to be the central striker. When you have Benteke in your squad that is not going to happen and Bent does not have the ability to play the way Weimann or Gabby can.
The team has to come first and that means no place for Bent

Agree4 Disagree8

I don't think Lambo's treated them badly at all, their meant to be professional footballers and get paid enough to perform and clearly they haven't so they've been frozen out and rightly so.

I wouldn't lament Bent in this though, he just doesn't fit the new regime. had a chuckle to myself when I looked at the squads age the other day and to see bents the oldest at the tender age of 29 speaks volumes about the plans PLs got in place.

Finch

Agree0 Disagree9

At what point did I say bent should have been starting ahead of benteke? i'd say leaving bent out of match day squads and having Bowery on the bench instead is treating bent like s***, wouldn't you? Or Atleast treating him with a lack of respect.

But either way, by making it obvious bent wasn't wanted PL devalued him.

>Scg87

Agree11 Disagree3

Scg87 I totally agree.

Agree10 Disagree0

I do take your point about Bowery
That is taking the Michael a little bit

So it's Saturday. The day after the Friday that Kingvilla confirmed Rodwell would have signed on loan by. Well that was reliable for someone who, I quote, works closely with Aston Villa contacts, oh dear! Good one. Puts us other professional scouts and football working professionals to shame with all your terrible statements. However, on a positive note, the Wijnaldum rumours are surfaces and getting stronger, suggesting perhaps when Bent goes, Wijnaldum will arrive soon after. This is not gaurenteed however it is a strong connection. Hopefully something on this front materialises soon. Also, expect some movement around Bannan and The Fonz shortly. Just leaves Hutton, Given and Ireland, who are proving difficult to shift away from VP. Something was talked about last night regarding Hutton and Ireland and moves away but still in dark as to what the issue definitely was.
Azza

Believable11 Unbelievable0

I know we can't wait to get rid of the dead wood at our beloved club but can't we just pay off the money grabbing persons and only leave the people who are committed to the club? I don't consider bent in this or given because not once have I heard either of them moaning about not playing and they, re being pushed out because their faces don't fit, so I wish them the best of luck in the future.

Agree10 Disagree0

Personally take the hit and cancel contracts. might cost us a tidy penny or two but clearly no ones paying for them

Agree6 Disagree5

I'd be tempted to offer Ireland an Hutton on free's an pay the difference in wages they get at whichever club takes them.

We really don't want certian players around our dressing room when the season starts, we have a tough start to the season so them players will be chirping away when the results are not going our way.

Get Rid ASAP!

Agree10 Disagree1

There no were near dressing room train with kids and not part of match day squad. Ireland can be payed off as only yeat left on contract. Given well that's different matter 3 years left on 50k a week minimum

Agree1 Disagree4

I think we should cancel Given and Irelands contracts, we wouldn't be able to sell given because of his age and ireland needs to leave now. Bent, fonz and bannan are sell able.
Mr. T

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, I hadnt realised we gave Given a 5 year contract. He was 35 when we signed him for crying out loud! Just shows how badly transfers and contracts were handled in the past. I suspect he will be impossible to shift, without a huge payoff. But that's not Givens fault, that is down to our own stupidity.

Agree3 Disagree0

Whether there training with the kids or first team is irelivant, Players don't literally have to be in the dressing room to disrupt their team mates. I'm sure ireland, Hutto. An co are pals with some of the first teamers, so it would be even easier to get in their ears when things go bad.

Yes, he really is that bad
Physically you would think he would be fine. Unfortunately he has a sprig of Broccoli where his brain should be
Dreadful player

Tbf to hutton, he was good in Spain, so I think it's his wages that is stopping any move

Can't say I watched him in Spain.
I was still too traumatised from watching him here
Our worst full back since Bryan Small

He can't be that bad. After all he played for Rangers, the brilliant Tottenham-just a little joke thrown in there-and is still more or less of a regular with a classy Scotland side -more gallows humour there.

fulham have just made an 'improved' offer for bent. actual fee unknown but this is great news for us as perhaps we can get in a number 10 now. someone like wijnaldum or kiyotake would complete the complexion of our squad ready for arsenal in 2 weeks.

come on the boys!

AVFC 4 LIFE

Believable8 Unbelievable0

We haven't actually accepted the offer yet so don't hold your breath.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree5 Disagree0

It will be accepted and will come back to bite us on the proverbial when he scores 15 - 20 next season

Agree7 Disagree2

Who cares if he scores 15-20 a season, he wouldn't do that for us with the way we play and benteke will score the same amount anyway. Plus weimann and gabby will no doubt get 20 between them again anyway.

Agree3 Disagree3

Why is Bent scorin 20 goals for Fulham going to effect us? I am pretty sure his goals will not condemn us to relegation.

Agree2 Disagree2

Ed any truth in the armin bacinovic rumours? {Ed001's Note - the only rumour regarding him I have heard, is Modena making an enquiry about him.}

Wijnaldum in by malaga game. All agreed just waiting for bent to go to free up wages and funds. Great signing by pl. Top 8 finish for me next season

Kingvilla

Believable11 Unbelievable13

Interesting that you think you will finish top 8, but where will villa finish? Also i'm not believing this until its done i'm affraid, the amount of names mentioned in the last month has made me skeptical

Agree9 Disagree1

Is that Wijnaldum and Rodwell then Kingy?!

Agree4 Disagree4

Bent will still be at the club when we play Malaga

Agree6 Disagree8

Its villa i'm talking about for a top 8 fin. And yes its rodwell as well but that's only a loan deal for the season then review it. that won't be the end of in comings either as long as bent given and ireland go of the wage bill

Kingvilla

Agree1 Disagree9

So why do we need to free up funds when Lerner guaranteed a 20m transfer kitty for every season in charge? My calculations say we have 8m leftover and king villas source comes from his dreams.

Finch

Agree6 Disagree2

Aswell as Defour, Van de Vaart and Rodwell?
At this rate we won't have room for Messi, Bale and Ronaldo!

Agree13 Disagree2

Tbh it's a realistic signing no one thought benteke would stay so let's see what happens 7 mill is not a lot for a word class player in the making and exactly the type of player villa need

Agree4 Disagree1

Great news if true, hard to believe tbh, defo can't see us signing Wijnaldum at £7m, that's a bargain so I'm sceptical

>Scg87

Agree11 Disagree2

Well seeing as PSV paid 5m euro for him I would say 7m is wholly unrealistic.

Added to the fact he has just been made their captain I would put this in the "I'd really love it to happen but I really really doubt it will" category

Agree8 Disagree1

Seeing as it has been rumoured by a fantasist who seems to enjoy throwing rocks in the water and watching the ripples, I would put it in the "load of old pony" category
