Jean-Claude Darcheville is supposedly joining the villa coaching staff, some part of the foreign youth setup - hopefully an indication we'll be scouting the french, belgium etc leagues more.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

I just want McLeish OUT that is the only news i want to hear about from VP

Neil Lennon is coming in at 9/1 to be the next permanent villa boss, just saying...!

Believable2 Unbelievable12

Neil lennons coming to villa............rubbish,who wants him, dont u know that if celtic or rangers or any other scottish team were in the premier league, they be relegated first season, and lennon knows that too,big difference between spl and premier league...........post sensible comments,or go post on the bluenoses page

Agree2 Disagree1

Now now... the guy didn't say he wanted Lennon. He just offered you the odds on him being the next manager and at least 2 bookies are offering 9-1 on it.

Hi leicester city fan here, what do you villa fans make of heskey coming to us in the summer? have you heard anything?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Ill drive him down myself if you come in for him

Agree10 Disagree0

I'm willing to drive him/carry him there myself!

Agree8 Disagree0

Want hutton too on a buy-one-get-one-free?

Agree6 Disagree2

Heskey is out of contract so it would be his choice so id think you'd be the favorites

Agree4 Disagree0

I will do his medical!!

Agree5 Disagree0

What do i think of Heskey going to leciester on a free couldn't you of signed him last season or even the season before one of the most boring players to watch in the game can't wait to be rid of him

I'm hearing villa are scouting the Croatian league heavily, hopefully the next Modric will be a t villa park next season!

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Rubbish

Or the next bosko balaban?

Agree6 Disagree1

Bosko Balaban absolute quality, unfortunately not at playing football though ;-)

Douglas Teixeira and Danny Guthrie are Mcleish's two top targets apparently, also the Australian fella has pre-signed a contract.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

The way we look and play at the moment, the only Brazilian we will get at V Park is the wax type!

Agree3 Disagree0

No point in McLeish scouting - the job won't be his in 2 weeks time!

Former Manchester City leftback Javier Garrido is rumored to be a replacement for Stephen Warnock, who is wanted by Sunderland.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Garrido is good friends with Stephen Ireland, not a bad player, maybe it's a ploy to keep Ireland happy at villa park as he was rumored to be trying for a move.

Agree6 Disagree2

You wouldn't sign a player on 20k+ a week just to keep another player happy

2 senior players from French outfit SM Caen are supposedly having a trial with Villa, most likely one is defender Thomas Heurtaux who was linked with a move to England last season.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Think Heurtaux might be heading to Spain? I remember seeing him linked to us and Blackpool last season, wouldn't be surprised if the other player on trial is M'Baye Niang as he's been linked for a while now, exciting player apparently.

Agree1 Disagree0

M'Baye Niang is a class youngster and would be a great talent for us to develop. He could be the new french 'Drogba' if he develops right

McLiesh WILL stay put next season FACT

We wont be making big money changes either!

Just FREE signings and that is ALL.

AVFCinsider

Believable7 Unbelievable9

If this is the case then season ticket sales will fall drastically and even if we survive this year it will be nothing but a temporary reprieve. He can't cut it, his record speaks for itself

Randy Lerner will pay Roberto Martinez, £4.5m per season to be Aston Villa's new manager.

Martinez has also been given the heads up to lure Victor Moses & Mohammed Diame to Villa Park with him.
Funds will be made available (around £30-40m) to rebuild the Villa squad.

With the new style of play, increased stadium capacity & the outlook looking bleak for the Emile Heskey's & Alan Hutton's.
Villa will be looking to re-claim a spot in the top 10.

Believable6 Unbelievable16

£4.5 million a year would make him one of the top paid managers in the world, McLeish is rumoured to be on about £2 million a year i can't see them paying the next manager over double!

Agree7 Disagree1

Norwich fan here, If you do get Martinez it can only be good for the Villa I wish you luck, But you might have a fight on your hands with getting Mosess, are you expecting a new lot fans to warrent seat increase, I have always thought with your position geographically I mean, with all those clubs close to you is it not something of a risk, Where as in our case we only have them at Poorman road, being 40 mile away. so no contest, Not blowing Trumpets but we have yet again sold out of season tickets 22000, and only have 27000 seats and we are planning to expand, hope we can both enjoy a few years of friendly banter,

Feel free to join in the Party on the 13th all pubs around the city welcome all fans, the Riverside complex in seconds away from the ground it is full of restaraunts, pubs burger bars. If you haven't been to Carrow road before you will find us a friendy bunch, as long as you are not an Ips**t fan The Party starts in Wetherspoons.

Agree5 Disagree0

I must disagree with the Villa fan who thinks that we will pay off McCleish to pay Martinez twice as much and then spend 40m on new players in order to finish 10th! This is real pie in the sky. We have gone through cut backs for a reason, its pointless to make losses in order to achieve nothing. In reference to the Norwich fan we will not be expanding our stadium until we reach certain heights. There are, however, two million people living within just 10 miles or so of Villa park whereas Norwich is quite a small city in a lowly populated county. Norwich are really well supported by their community and always have been (league 1 attendances of around 20k is great). You may well see growing crowds for a while but expectations change and people will be less happy watching Norwich struggle in the Premiership as the years go on.

Realistic views, Villa may sack McCliesh. Will not spend any more than 15m net in the summer which will still be under a period of wage control. Norwich will expand their stadium if they stay up but may find a building project costly when it adds 10 000 empty seats if they (and they really may) get relegated in the next 4 years.

Agree6 Disagree1

PS - enjoy your party Norwich and lets hope travelling Villa fans can enjoy a drink with you

Gus Poyet will be your new boss next season. When I posted this last night, I said journalists in Sussex were talking about as they are today. It has not been reported in/on any media outlet at the moment because Premiership still has to play out. If I was to give u Journalists names I would be putting them in the doggy do wouldn't I. AS WELL AS MYSELF! Be patient and have a punt...I HAVE!

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Utter tripe, I doubt any journalists would read this website so why not tell us. Or are you just a bookie trying to get us to put money on Poyet. And how do you know they are talking about it, do they just converse with you, are you a journalist, or just a compulsive liar?

Agree4 Disagree1

If u read the post person and have the brain capacity to read between the lines, you will see that I maybe in the industry.

Heskey is going to go back to his old club leicester city in the summer.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

I dunno how to feel on this one..... hes good at linking up play half the time and cant hit a barn door. But I cant help feel for the guy since he left liverpool, hes just never been the same....

Agree1 Disagree3

Heskey the signing, that was the millstone round MONs neck.

A rumor on twitter is that Villa will have a brown/silver away kit next season, apparently Italian sportswear company 'Macron' will be the supplier and the shirt template will be the safe as the current S.C. Braga away.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

Coventry City had a brown kit in the mid 70's, if this is true can imagine it having a real retro feel, kinda like the current spurs kit, sounds alright actually!

Agree4 Disagree1

29 Apr 2012 13:01:37
If Randy Lerner goes back in for Roberto Martinez don't be surprised to see him bring Mohamed Diame with him.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Diame has been linked with villa a lot over recent seasons and we could defiantly do with a defensive mid fielder

Agree6 Disagree3

What ever anyone says Villa are a big club Hodgson can not do big clubs as proven at liverpool,a manager has to fit the club!I hope Rodgers ,Lambert ,dont suffer next year ,Martinez started it all at swasea he could be the right man But people forget the success Hoddle had tiny blip at wolves could be great has style and no,s how the game should be played, sometimes the extra bit of experience counts

Agree3 Disagree0

Martinez is a decent manager but we definitely have to at least enquire about Paul Lambert. The board would get the best of both worlds. He can get the best out of Players, wouldnt be on a massive wage, wouldnt spend too much to get a decent team together but we would also win games. Anyone who says he wouldnt come to us is a joker aswell. Villa are bigger then Norwich. If we got hoddle in it would be a joke. He did alright at wolves years ago. He wouldnt be any good now

Agree2 Disagree0

Quote Shearer best manager worked with (HODDLE)

Gus Poyet will be named Villa boss at end of the season even if they go down! News is rife in Sussex amongst journalist.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

I'd prefer nigel adkins,brendan rodgers,paul lambert,kevin mcdonald,gary mcallister,andre villas-boas.
Much better than Gus Poyet (even AVB!)

Agree2 Disagree7

Which journalist/s is this then?

Agree4 Disagree3

I live in Sussex and I have not seen or heard a word.......lately. Some weeks ago there was talk.

Poyet or Hodgson for me id love Lambert as well

mcleish will be kept on if avoidin relegation
ireland will be awarded fan poty on monday nite,
mickey thomas -predicts ireland will join red devils in summer.
heskey will has offers from china + dubai
cueller will be offloaded

Believable0 Unbelievable17

I can't see Stevie leaving tbh he seems settled now

Agree6 Disagree4

Can easily see Ireland shipping out. Not convinced it'd be to Man U though.

Agree7 Disagree5

Ireland hasn't performed well enough to go to united and has only performed for us on a handful of games he's going no where as he's on 80k a week and on that current run of form can you see any team matching those wages for him to leave Villa, EXACTLY!

Agree7 Disagree6

He's on 60k a week i don't know where you have got 80k from

Agree7 Disagree2

Are you the player or his agent? How can you state that he is not on 80k?

Agree1 Disagree4

Whoever wrote this should seriously get a grip on reality

Agree3 Disagree0

Because no one is on over 65k at Villa that's the wage cap

Agree4 Disagree0

Ireland goin to NY Red Bulls...Ballack interview a few weeks back about goin there, said he couldnt because Red Bulls big wage player was already signed and was Stephen Ireland

matt phillips will be on his way to villa park in the summer for 2.5m

Believable8 Unbelievable7

Not with Liverpool interested he wont be.
KiwiRed

Agree0 Disagree2

Yeh, 2.5m to Villa, King Kenny will pay 7m. Liverpool will be in the same financial position as Villa in a few years Spent loads of wonga on average players

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Apr 2012 15:48:08
The club statement last night only stated this season.

Roy Hodgson would apparently be open to a Villa approach due to the bigger club prospect & the much higher finances.
(Personally i would not welcome him - look at his liverpool stint!)

Paul Lambert is the other, yes we all know that this might be seen as but a joke. Yet, he would apparently welcome a cross to a bigger club whom can achieve more on paper.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

Don't talk crap Paul Lambert won't come here he has what every manager wants, and thats a club with ambition magnificent fans 22.000 Season tickets are sold again before close of first deadline, yet again they sell out to home crowds of 26 800 they only hold 27000, and I know a lot of Norwich fans and they tell me Paul Lambert has just signed an improved contract. Yes they know Lambert will leave, but not yet a while, the club has a 7 year plan he has completed the plan 5 years in advance so where can the club go now, if they stay up next season they will increase seating to 35-40,000 Paul Lambert is loved in Norwich and he loves them, so I think unless we offer him Megga bucks to come then forget it

Agree5 Disagree5

Lambert left Colchester after they thrashed Norwich 7-1 so stranger things have happened. Villa are a much bigger club than Norwich end of, he would get paid more, have better players and a big task that no manager who wants to b top should shirk. Lambert take the villa job, get them playing again, get yourself a top job now. The best managers don't settle for teams punching above their weight

Agree6 Disagree1

Clever ploy to unsettle lambert as we playing his team last day of the season but Mcleish shall be kept on !!!

Agree4 Disagree1

If Norwich thrash Villa 7-1 send Villa down LAMBERT Stays at Norwich end of,as well as that he won't want to come to Dummy land

Agree2 Disagree5

How the hell is Villa a bigger club than Norwich,?you might have a load more seats (empty) than we do, you don't run a club on History, Norwich are a team for the future, bring plenty of tissue's on the `13th may you will need them, its a long way back to the championsip, but at least you will have afew local derbies to look forward to

Agree3 Disagree8

So if ipswich was above you in the league would you turn around and say they were a bigger club then norwich??......... i don't think so! yes norwich have been playing far better then villa (even though villa did beat you) but just because you finished above us this season it doesn't make norwich a bigger club then villa.

Agree4 Disagree1

Suprised you managed to type that message with webbed hands.

Agree2 Disagree5

Going back to the original forgettin comment Hodgson is a great manager with pedegree
are we forgetting he managed inter milan winning trophies
Fulham to the uefa cup final
and is doing well at baggies
at liverpool they wanted kenny and messed him about till he quit

So i'd happily have Hodgson as the manager but lets face my Nan who's been dead 20 year could do a better job than mcleish

Agree3 Disagree2

I would like to give your nan a go! Who's with me?
Nan in, Eck out, nan in, Eck out...... {Ed001's Note - for a minute then I misread that, I thought you were asking for a go on his nan!}

Agree4 Disagree1

Lmao!! glad i'm not the only one ed.

Agree3 Disagree0

Well, think we can rule Hodgson out of the running now that he's set to be interviewed tomorrow for the England job.

Aston Villa are now favourites in the race to sign the 24 year old Brazilian born defender Douglas Franco Texeira of FC Twente. At the end of August when his contract expires.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

No your not! i believe he could be on his way to Newcastle

Agree2 Disagree3

Will he want to play in the championship then ? I doubt it.

Agree3 Disagree3

Villa will stay up and newcastle wont qualify for champs league

According to reports AZ Alkmaar winger Rasmus Elm is ready to move to England with Villa being one of the clubs chasing his signature.

Remember with Holman tied up from the same club this may happen {Ed004's Note - Not much chance if Manchester United are interested in signing him...}

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Nobody worth their salt is going to agree a deal with Villa over Utd. In fact, nobody worth their salt is going to agree a deal with Villa until Villa are mathematically safe in the prem.

Agree1 Disagree2

Norwich fan here, we never win our first or last match of the season, If by giving you the points keeps you up and QPR down I'll be happy with that

Agree5 Disagree0

But this season it will be different goodby Vile

Agree0 Disagree5

United wont want him

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Apr 2012 04:16:40
There's talk that ex Real boss Bernd Schuster is wanted by Villa to work within the club as a director of football, this is slowly becoming a popular trend within the game and Villa are keen to make use of his expertise. remember reading about another rumor involving Schuster last summer but he was still contracted to Besiktas then.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Would love it but heard nothing of it.

Agree4 Disagree1

26 Apr 2012 04:08:03
The rumor doing the rounds a few months back about a middle eastern takeover, apparently fell through because Randy Learner is Jewish and didn't want to sell to arab investors, some people are saying he's still looking to sell, so who knows what will happen in the future.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

25 Apr 2012 20:33:06
Gus Poyet is being lined up for Villa job at the end of the season whether Villa stay up or go down. Will be announced on Monday or Tues once the loose ends of McGleish termination finalised and Brightons season is over. This story doing the rounds amongst journalists in London.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Would like to believe this one but I can't. Poyet was widely reported to have turned down Wolves before their relegation became inevitable so I doubt he'd agree to join Aston Villa - & definitely not until safety is confirmed anyhow. Gus Poyet's said himself he'll go nowhere unless a 'top' club came calling & then he'd have to give it some thought. Sadly, Aston Villa's not a 'top' club at present.

Agree3 Disagree4

I would love to see villa go down,im a newcastle fan and i will never forget when relagated at your place, the joy on your faces, look at us now loooooool, loving it xxx

Agree3 Disagree5

Well you are talking of a small majority there matey.
I certainly didn't like it,if Villa go down (though i will still support them) , i will support NUFC in the premier league & so i think you aren't talking on the wider scale there.

Agree3 Disagree0

I was there that day Newcastle got relegated and I was laughing - so fair play.

That's football !

If we go down we'll deserve it just like you did that year.

Any need for the three kisses at the end though?!

Agree2 Disagree1

Kisses in messages are very creepy! Unless its your wife!

Agree3 Disagree0

Why is a Magpies fan's wife sending you kisses? Eh? Oooh. {Ed001's Note - the kisses were obviously for me, it's only natural mate, after all those Lynx Effect ads are just based on my life..... And if you believe that, you will believe anything!!}

Agree1 Disagree0

OK make it Ed 007 then you ol' charmer! I'd sooner believe Messi's en route to B6 than that the Lynx ads were based on you, you smelly git! {Ed001's Note - well yes, Ed007 is far from possessing the Lynx Effect, he is just old and miserable. Myself, on the other hand, well they say no one is perfect, and I am the exception that proves the rule!}

Agree1 Disagree0

Relegating New Castle made me a very happy Villa fan and ranked with sending Blues and Cov down. If only we could also do it to Blackburn and one day Stoke City. Perfection.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2012 20:30:53
If Mcleish is pushed out, lots of people are speculating Gus Poyet would be a candidate for the job. also hearing Brett Holman may have a clause saying he won't join if Villa go down, all rumors at the oment.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

25 Apr 2012 10:39:57
Rumours that villa are accepting the fact that a new squad may need to be acquired through the acquisition of football league players. Names cropping up in my sources include Huddersfield's Jordan Rhodes, Sheffield Utd's Stephen Quinn, and Watford's Adrian Mariappa

Believable4 Unbelievable5

BS!
Mcleish out!

Agree6 Disagree0

Jordan Rhodes is signing for a premiership club,so that rules your joke of a club out !

Agree1 Disagree5

How do you know who he's signing for? Are you his agent?

23 Apr 2012 16:19:16
ed; IS MCGINGER going in the summer,or will it cost to much to get rid of him,we do need a manger who ever it is to come in and stay for 4 or 5 years to get everything back in order, in fairness to mc ginger he is TRYING to tidy up a mess from two previous mangers,Last thing have you heard of any signings for the summer ,With STAN out for a bit, Gabby looks on his way(in fairness not a massive loss dosent score enough),Ireland is stating to look at his best the SO called bigger clubs must be watching him,Bent looks liverpool bound,we are tin on the ground as it is,I cant see a couple of free tranfers here and there is going the strengthen a VERY weak and poor as it is,let alone getting rid of the heart of the squad,A VERY WORRIED VILLIAN {Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out, sorry to say this, but you are stuck with McLeish. I don't know of any Liverpool interest in Bent at all. Agbonlahor has always turned down all offers in the past, I see no reason for that to change.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Heskey's running annual wages is £3m.
Can't we just clear him & pay off Mcleish with that money?
Villas-Boas has the right ideas & we would not have to pay anything to get him.
Ed, is that not wrong? {Ed001's Note - if you sell or release Heskey, you still have to pay off a proportion of his wages. The saving would be minimal.}

Agree4 Disagree3

Dreary me - Ed poor show - Heskey is out of contract in summer so we wont have to pay anything to get rid of him.

However think AVB will have better offers than us! {Ed001's Note - poor show? Because I didn't bother to check. Sorry for not knowing the contract situation for every player at the club and not having the time to check.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Not having a go - but its been pretty widely reported. And I thought the whole idea of this was that you are in the know. {Ed001's Note - of player's contracts? I don't keep the info to hand, I have resources available to look it up, but I am busy and don't have time to look it up. As for widely reported, so much crap is widely reported that I never listen or read reports any more. They will talk about players being out of contract that have years left.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Gabby will stay unless told he's being sold,
heskey,Beye,Cuellar and Guzan out of contract in the summer,
Petrov,Collins and Dunne contracts up nxt summer so expect one or both defenders sold
and Ireland has 2 seasons left
Also expect Makoun to go and maybe N'zogbia

Coming in so far Holman and Kelo

so as you can see there will be alot of movement this summer

Agree1 Disagree3

Kello hasn't been offered a contract yet so how you came to the conclusion that he's definitely signing i'll never know...

Oh and Beye was released about 10 weeks ago...

Agree3 Disagree0

Beye is gone, makoun will be gone & gabby + n'zog are STAYING!

Agree2 Disagree0

Kelo has had several pre contract talks with villa just waiting to see us stay up expect to see him signed or Gilks if relegated

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2012 19:24:12
Hey ed thought Id ask after a couple of weeks since I last asked. Anything happening at villa? News wise. Oh and another question when mcleish signed on for us how long was his contract? Ty Ed love the site

Oportunistic Villan {Ed001's Note - he is contracted until 2014, sorry, I know you would love to get rid soon! I will have to ask around, I haven't heard anything new recently.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Sat here with 10 ST holders (family gathering) not one of us would renew until his contract ends. McLeish OUT

Agree8 Disagree0

Thanks Ed and no Im not a hater, I just wanna see what signings he makes and how next season goes before judging him like an executioner

Agree1 Disagree6

Seen enough this season to make my mind up the guys who sit around me at VP out of i would say 25 one is renewing. The rest are not until McLeish is sacked

Agree3 Disagree0

I've renewed. Silly numbers like only 4,00 season ticket renewals coming out of the rumour mill. Okay, McLeish clearly isn't the man for us but I'm VIlla 'til I die.

Agree6 Disagree1

Well put!

Agree1 Disagree0

I dont knnow where that figure is from but the average gates are down 4000 this season. 4000 lost customers how many more will it be next season

Agree2 Disagree1

Not quite 4,000 down on the average gate from average last season - was on average 3,297 up to (and including) Stoke game. If gates fall again next season, I'd say more of the drop will be due to lack of casual sales rather than season ticket sales. Either way, good football will sell tickets, regardless of the manager, and fans deserve better than they've been 'treated' to this season. Onwards and upwards. Things can only get better... Or maybe not: lashing rain here at Villa Park and no Stephen Ireland in the 18. King Carlos captaining the lightweight side. Hobson's choice or what? Wah!

Agree3 Disagree2

K tonights performance was terrible we scored and conceded two. I have changed my mind McClueless has to go. Swing the axe learner swing ye old axe.

mon has enquired about gabby and has been quoted 12m def not worth that and I am a mackem but it shows you will sell him

Believable5 Unbelievable6

Wow, do you mackems believe everything you read in the gutter newspapers....

Agree7 Disagree2

I think we should get a manager who we show our support to for at least 4 seasons. McCleish was an odd choice and may well have to go. However Villa fans.... WE MUST allow the new manager some slack, we need to cut our wages and re-build this will lead to below par performances for at least another year. If we get 12m for Gabby sell 5-6 others and bring in some new players then okay lets just be realistic and calm. Its all very well going bankrupt to finish 6th but its pointless really. Forget petty rivalries, allow other clubs to overspend to finish at the other end of mid-table - we need a long term strategy !

Agree10 Disagree0

The man himself keeps saying he wants to stay at Villa for his whole career and he is Villa through and through. Settled happily in Birmingham where he was born and bred and where he is going to soon captain the team he loves! rubbish rumour!

Agree5 Disagree1

McLeish is a calamity

Agree7 Disagree3

I would snap the hand off any club who offers 12m for him

Agree8 Disagree4

Mcleish & agbonlahor has stated he is staying for at least 10 years more.

Agree4 Disagree3

10 years so your saying a 36 year old winger are you kidding he will be gone in in the summer he is too good for fighting relagation battles year in year out bye bye gabby

Agree1 Disagree6

To the person above..... What part of he want's to finish his contract (Which is at least 3 years) at villa don't you understand? and that's without any extension thats if villa and gabby obviously wish to do so!

Agree1 Disagree1

Gabby isn't good enough for Villa he should be sold

Agree2 Disagree8

No hes gd enough, just out of position most the time and has inconsitent form

Agree5 Disagree2

Firstly Gabby is one of our best players week in week out he just struggles with goals, he wants to stay at villa for his whole career.

Secondly to the person who says we should sell 6 players in the summer we release Cuellar,Beye,Hesksy,Petrov and on top of this you want to sell 6 players granted Dunne,Ireland,N'Zogbia,Warnock and thats a push as McLiesh wont sell N'Zogbia and Ireland

Agree1 Disagree1

Gabby is a striker if he doesn't score goals he is good enough he is no where near being one of our best players

Agree1 Disagree0

Ideye Brown - Villa are apparently one of two english sides trying to lure the Dynamo Kyiv frontman, apparently Sunderland may be the other club?

I'm also hearing Roberto Martinez may be heading to Goodison Park next season, allowing David Moyes to take the reigns at Villa Park.

D56

Believable6 Unbelievable15

Where did you hear about Moyes taking over at Villa? So when do you think Mcleish will leave?

Agree1 Disagree1

Let's look at this...
Moyes 9 years at Everton and happy. Perhaps needing a challenge to push on with a club who has money to spend. Everton top 10 but skint, Villa (I support Villa) lower in the league and in need of money saving and hence no real budget either. Moyes to Villa, not going to happen.

Agree9 Disagree2

Can you not see Lerner is trying to cut back so he can start over again. MON screwed Villa massively with his buys and wages Lerner got Big Eck in to work on nothing as he has done before. A new manager in the summer and get a decent lump of money

if we lose tommorow mcleish has to go!!

i have stuck by mcleish thinking all the players injured and going out is going to effect the club but enough is enough!

only players left injured for tommorow shall be bent and dunne !!

Randy put kev and gordon in charge till end of season and look for a director of football as the club needs someone to deal with players coming in and out of the club leaving whoever will be in charge to focus on the team to play and win games with flair !!!!

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Another rumor going about is that Luke Wilkshire is prepared to switch to Villa Park from Dynamo Moscow.

Why not get rid of him and peter "70's style tracksuit trousers" grant now .
Sid and big kev mc in charge until the end of the season to lift the players against sunderland ,bolton ,albion and deliver us 9 points.
Do you think the lack of season ticket sales has something to do with it or has randy been smart and got mcnugget to get rid of the high earners and dead wood and leave the mess at mcclueless door knowing mcnugget was in a no win situation

Hope the way of ur thinking is whats really happening

O yeah cos Ian holloway has achieved loads, don't be a mug the man can't handle egos bigger than his own and with gabby and ireland I don't think he could cope. He's a s**t manager anyway, at least Martinez can sign a good young player and I like his style. Still I don't see the point in this discussion cos Mcleish will be manager with 4 Bosmans coming in and a few signings off the smaller clubs, the big signing we were promised could possibly be an ex player, whether it was davis or Milner was not made clear, Id say davis purely cos of the mess at rangers

McLeish set to sign Man Utd defender Fabio on a long season loan.
Warnock on his way to the stadium of light for £3m.

he'd be a top signing!

Believable5 Unbelievable6

I'd be surprised if we got 3 million for warnock he's cost us points left right and centre, declined quicker than anyone I've seen for a while. But I wouldn't mind getting fabio on loan although I do believe a more experienced left back with some pace is required. Decent shout if it comes off. I'd love to see us go in for sigurddson, probably won't happen but I think he would get fans buzzing and finally replace the hole Milner and now petrov have left

Agree9 Disagree2

The most important thing villa fans need is a manager who knows what he is doing the rest will fall into place after that. McLeish had £20m or so last summer so this BS about no money he wasted £4m of that on Hutton, we could have had Lichaj in from the start and signed a few free agents at the time instead. MCLEISH YOU ARE NOT WELCOME RESIGN

Agree10 Disagree0

No, because the wages of lots of free agents would have been to high, hutton looked a good transfer when we got him. yeah he's turned out shocking but had a good pre season with tottenham

Believable1 Unbelievable22

From the CL to a bottom table team? 20 million is over priced for a soon to be 29 year old. It would be more believable if you said sturridge who appears to be out of favor at Chelsea

ed is it true we are after french striker oliver giroud and could offer nzogbia for him. also a centre back named stambouli who plays with oliver giroud. Apparently our scouts went to watch them both a while ago. {Ed001's Note - you have had scouts watch Montpellier, yes, but I really couldn't tell you who they were watching.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Can people stop posting questions on here asking Ed about transfers etc. get this through your thick heads. We are stuck with AMC and no descent player will come to us all the time we are a third rate team playing the dullest football ever seen. And before anyone moans, yes I have supported Villa for over 40 years and am not one of those who jumped on thR bandwagon when we had ONeil. Like it lump it, but we have become a third rate football team and will remain so all the time AMC is in charge so don't waste your time asking stupid bloody questions about players we have no hope of ever getting.

Agree9 Disagree4

Why down talk your own team then. Show some pride you a**

Agree5 Disagree6

Well said the person above! calls himself a supporter........ What a ****!

Agree4 Disagree4

I couldn't give a f*** if blokes like him think we are third rate, I'm a villa fan. The team is shocking, the kids are more motivated to win. The experienced players couldn't care, we are where we are because we have lost players to the best clubs in the country. Simple. If you don't like it f*** off and support the baggies for 40 years. I'm sick of hearing the downright moaning idiots week after week. Maybe villa park would be better if you all went back to playing golf and checking the scores on your phone

Ed is it true we are meants to be offering n zogbia for oliver giroud. Also what have you heard about benjamin stamboulli {Ed002's Note - It was expected that Giroud would stay within France with a move to PSG but performances this season have seen Lyon, Marseille, Valencia, Newcastle, Villarreal, Arsenal and particularly Malaga show an interest. At one point Nicollin discussed the interest in the player saying Newcastle were too minor a club and Arsenal would have to pay 50M euros, if not 60M euros for the player. The reality is that he will move for perhaps 20M euros or so in the summer as it will be tough for Montpellier to persuade him to stay. Interest at the moment is still being shown by Arsenal and Bayern Munich have made an approach to Montpellier. The player declared an interest in a move to Italy but much will depend on the price - I don't see Marseille being able to pay enough, nor perhaps Lyon. Stambouli will probably not move this summer.}

Ed is McLeish staying or have the board started to realise the fans are not happy and wont be until he has gone? {Ed001's Note - I honestly don't have a clue. Sorry, I have been trying to ask around, the consensus is that people expect him to be given next season too.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Viklla park will be empty if he stays i know of about 25 ST holders who are not renewing, out of the people i know who go to games regularily only one is renewing

Agree4 Disagree1

Agree0 Disagree5

Giving him a chance is not the point. It has gone too far and on for too long now. I just do not see any way back. We just can't sink any lower otherwise the ground will be empty and we would be one of the favourites for relegation next season. He seems incapable of motivating the players week in week out and IMO he needs to resign for his sanity and the sanity of the rest of us

Ed who are the possible winger target aside from the relegated sides, we've been linked with mcgeady which is probably unlikely. Any interest in matt phillips we must have been scouting blackpool with the gilks links. Any targets in other leagues. thanks {Ed001's Note - yes Matty Phillips has been extensively scouted, he was asked about last summer too but Blackpool refused to discuss him. I very much doubt they will discuss him with Villa this summer either, they would to a team in Europe, purely because of not letting his head get turned, but I don't think they would listen to any other offers. McGeady has been of interest for ages, he was unhappy out there, he didn't like not being able to go out without an armed guard etc. His reps tried to get him a deal with Newcastle, which never came about and I have heard nothing since. The main issue seems to be that he wants to be as far north as possible to be close to home, allied to his high wage demands.}

Believable2 Unbelievable3

He Irish mate not Scottish so up North isn't home {Ed001's Note - you might want to check up: Although born and brought up in Scotland, McGeady plays internationally for the Republic of Ireland, a country he qualifies for through his grandparents.}

Ed who are some likely left back targets i read of Van Aanholt below but havent seen him mentioned in the press. Has there been any interest in adam matthews of celtic. Also is nathaniel clyne was mentioned as a target is he set for manu... thanks {Ed001's Note - other than the ones I have previously said, I don't know of any. There have been no new ones brought to my attention by a good source, though I did see a link with the left back from Villareal. Not convinced it was solid info, more just because it is know Villa are chasing a left back and Villareal are in money troubles and have to sell. Makes it easy to link their players with all and sundry. I have not heard of any recent interest in Matthews, there was a fair bit in him a while ago, when he was a little unsettled, but I don't know if the situation has changed and he is now settled up in Scotland. Clyne is very much a target, he does seem likely to end up at United, but you never know, he might prefer to go where he is more likely to play regularly.}

Ed do you think villa will have investment in the summer if we do then you do you think our targets will be.Big thanks {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware it will be a case of cutting out the older, higher paid players and bringing in young hungry players. MON brought in a hell of a lot of players on higher wages than was really good for the club. Especially as they spent so much time on the bench rather than the pitch! There will be some money spent, I expect, savings in wages will enable the club to have a bit more cash to play with. But I would not expect a huge splurge on big money players.}

The only player I know you are definitely targeting 100% is a left back. Difficult to narrow down which one, you have looked at a few and enquired about a few. Only thing that seems certain is that the priority is to get a younger left back if possible. I would expect Figueroa would be very much of interest if Wigan go down, but I can't see a move materialising for him otherwise.}

Ed do you know anything about us watching left back patric van anholt
Also about a move for demba ba and tomkins {Ed001's Note - you are watching a number of left backs, both Bertrand and Van Aanholt of Chelsea have been enquired about. I am told Blackpool's young leftback, Bob Harris, has been watched the last couple of games, Ed003 hasn't heard anything though, so that might not be true. He has only just broke in the team there, so it is hard to know if it is true or not.}

Ed any truth in villa interest in rasmus elm or was that speculation from scouts looking at Brett holman? Is Ki sung yueng still a target, Mcleish spoke of him earlier in the year. Thanks {Ed007's Note - Villa are watching Elm although I don't know how close a deal is. I would expect Ki to be sold in the summer, he is a quality player but doesn't seem suited to the SPL. With the midfield players at Celtic he seems the most likely to be sold.}

I know nothing about a move for the others, Defoe would seem doubtful as he hated Portsmouth due to it being 'too far' from London!}

I doubt Cole will be joining, not so much his wages as that he is simply not up to the Prem any more, I think he carries his salary wrapped round his gut these days! Keane is wanted but also unlikely to be sold by the MLS, there is every chance of another loan though. Significant Villa changes if we stay up or not (we will stay up - we are still too good to go down).

Outs:
Heskey, dunne, delfouneseo, warnock, guzan (good player guzan but he wants 1st team football)

ins:
holman, figueroa (if wigan are relegated) & a striker (Keane? - who would link up our play well) & i hear mcleish is looking for an experienced winger.

outcome:
If we played more attacking we would be 10 points or so better off but mcleish as much as i dislike him as a fine squad & i think we have to give him until december next season to just see how we do with these youngsters & Bent upfront.

squad
Given (GK),
Hutton (or Cuellar),Baker/Clark,Collins,Lichaj/figueroa
albrighton (probably holman though),herd,ireland,n'zogbia
agbonlahor,bent

bench:hutton(or cuellar),baker (or clark),lichaj (or figueroa),weimann,bannan,keane.

and
we'll still have the likes of carruthers, stevens, petrov, gardner, delph, johnson & wickham

It could be the return of the good old days for Villa.
I am dreaming of a future back 4 of:
lichaj,clark,baker & stevens.

Future for the Villa looks very bright!

But if I had and was offered more money somewhere else I would gave left. It's the nature of the beast my friend and don't say you would not do the same as you would. Barry was a great servant and player he deserved to win something and I'm sad for him, Milner will win something one day and I will be pleased for him when he does, as he was another player who gave is all to the club. Champions League bench warmer or fighting it out at V Park - as much as these over paid so called footballers say they just want to play week in, week out, we all know what the reality is.

Agree3 Disagree4

Same especially when we have albrighton, n'zog, bannan, holman (next season) and gabby who can play there

Agree2 Disagree7

Albrighton is terrible

Agree11 Disagree13

Can see us getting Joe Cole, but we're already signing brett holman so who knows

Agree2 Disagree5

No-one saw Ireland joining us but he did.
So, We never know!.
Albrighton & Bannan are the future.
Right now, N'zog & Ireland are the main men.

Agree4 Disagree4

Ireland clearly didn't want to sign for us. Look at the way he was! But I do love him as a player. Cnzo and Ireland need to be the main men cuz if not we am down. They both need to pull their finger out!

Agree4 Disagree1

The reality is albrighton is good but he is a one trick pony he has one skill down the wing and the only good thing is when his crosses are good they are good but then again thats 50% as for bannan he has moments of brilliance and sometimes he just wastes the ball we have academy wingers with more promise with the likes of grealish, graham and carruthers

Agree5 Disagree1

Really is Albrighton is **** and will always be he's not a hot young prospect now he's 22 nearly 23 grow up if he wern't a Villa fan you all would hate him

Agree4 Disagree4

Brett Holman is a winger so why does it matter if we sign Joe Cole

Agree1 Disagree2

Joe cole ain't gonna happen. Wages way to high unless he accepts 50% pay cut his not coming to us.

Albrighton deserves another 18 months. Cuz I remember loosing a young winger in the name wittingham? So rather keep hold and see whether he improves

Villa being linked with a move for McDonald Mariga again, same story with Aiden McGeady.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Mariga couldnt make the grade in seria A with inter. Y wud we want him. N mcgeady... i saw many spl fans calling him a one trick pony a couple of years ago. And the russian league isnt as good as the prem so I reckon he could still struggle even if we sell a few of our wingers. I mean we have bannan, albrighton, n'zog, holman (next season) and gabby who can play there.

Agree5 Disagree0

Russian league is as good as the Prem so it shows how much you know

Agree1 Disagree7

Nope im sure lots of people will disagree my friend xD

Agree1 Disagree0

You ever watched it "my friend"

Agree0 Disagree1

Yh its like watching championship with more star studded names like eto'o and mcgeady

get rid off

collins
warnock
dunne
heskey
hutton

??

Believable13 Unbelievable2

All of them but hutton - he is playing well now!

Agree4 Disagree13

New defence and a new striker. Sounds good to me

Agree10 Disagree0

Squad can be very strong next seaseon if they are removed

given guzan

hutton,lichaj
ceullar,clarke
? ,?
? ,stevens
albrighton,herd
ireland,gardner
delph,makoun,petrov
nzogbia,holman
agbonlahor,bent
weimann, ?

potentially room for more business but the squad has to be made stronger as the foundation clearly look to be set.

Agree2 Disagree0

Makoun are you sure Mcleish loaned him out after not playing him for 2 matches and he only came on as a sub in the asia cup i think the writing is on the wall for makoun he'll be gone to and remember he's on 65k a week

Agree1 Disagree0

Makoun is too much like Petrov.
With Petrov out for a while, maybe Makoun should get a go.
BUT,Makoun's wages could be put to better use and we have plenty of hungry youngsters.

Agree3 Disagree0

Makoun is on 30k

Agree1 Disagree1

I think we need to keep defence and just get new lb and rb and get a new dtriker and new lw

Agree0 Disagree0

We dnt need a lw we have just got holman. As for full backs we have lichaj, hutton and warnock. Stevens isnt ready i think, so till he is I can see clark playing back up there aswell as cb and cdm. For a striker I think we should get a creative striker like berbatov but with more pace, to link up with bent, supply him with goals which we have been struggling to do and score himself. Would love keane back but his legs will be gone soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need players that have won championships with there clubs and have europa and champion leauge experince to add to our young squad but not players over 30 please!!

Holman goes with that trend and now we need others like him to be at villa next season, not players like dunne, collins, warnock who have not won nothing plus all these where bought together by mon and since he has gone the defence has been dreadful.

Agree2 Disagree0

We need a new manager !but agree with what you say

Agree6 Disagree0

Makoun is on 50k. it says he's on 30k on fifa 12 but that's false info. also, it says heskey's on 8k but he's really on 35k

Frank Fielding is being lined up as a replacement for Brad Guzan who is apparently being shown the door along with Carlos Cuellar, Emile Heskey, Fabian Delph and finally Charles N'Zogbia who should be involved in a swap deal with Montpellier for striker Olivier Giroud.

Other targets/replacements include Dedryck Boyata from Manchester City, Leroy Fer from FC Twente, and finally Matt Jarvis from Wolves. Brett Holman of AZ is already confirmed. also don't be surprised to see Stephen Ireland leave, Liverpool is apparently a possible destination.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Ireland isn't leaving

Agree7 Disagree1

Delph,Cuellar,N'Zog & Ireland aren't leaving.
Warnock & Collins will be though!

Agree7 Disagree2

Could see us getting jarvis, but the rest are all unrealistic.... most those players havent been at their club for 12 months yet. N giroud has arsenal among many clubs after him. Expect jarvis (if wolves sell), a creative striker simillar to keane, a new cb if cuellar goes like dann or johnson and if guzan goes expect siegrist to step up to 2nd choice.

Cole has ruined his career himself in the past.
So, He is welcome to join us now!

This Summer Frees & Loans.

-Figueroa
-Holman
-Guthrie
-Pogrebnyak
-Olic
-Drenthe
-Kranjcar(L)

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Sounds good but will not happen.

Agree5 Disagree2

Ollic,Guthrie & Kranjcar aren't what we need!

Agree3 Disagree1

I disagree kranjcar would be a great loan signing for us. We desperately need a set piece taker who can be in the first team week in week out.

Agree4 Disagree0

Olic would be great back up for bent & gabby for a couple of seasons
