agree=yes disagree=no

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Still looks a very young and inexperienced to me im not convinced.

Agree3 Disagree2

The fonz has gone on loan and its Bowery in his place

Agree6 Disagree0

I feel it will be a season of ups and downs but i reckon it will be a 10-14 finish

And genuinelly excited by Benteke coming in and hopefully gabby playing on the wing

Agree3 Disagree0

I'll take 10th as long as we finish above the Baggies

pl wants young and hungry players, more like cheap average players who won't cut it in the premier, no ambition, no hope, stoke the only midlands club showing ambition.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

AT least 3 of the signings look good and the rest seem good for the future
Vlaar
Benteke
EL Ahmadi
and even Holman look good and lowton and bennet cant be any worse than their predessors

Agree6 Disagree0

31 Aug 2012 17:13:23
we're signing lower league crap english players championship players at best!... getting sick of it! go for some experienced footballers like Huddlestone, Owen

Believable2 Unbelievable7

We are building a club and a fortress either join us or support walsall lol

Agree4 Disagree1

Look at the facts. We dont like what we see, but when you want a Rolls Royce and you only have the money for a Mondeo, what do you do? I am unsure about Lambert and I bet he is unsure about the ugly sisters now that he is working with them. He was probably sold on the story that we are prepared to pay up for success, wasn't told that he had little or no investment. Villa are bigger than Norwich and Lambert wants to move himself up the managerial ladder, good in first year in prem. year two is always more difficult especially with the restraints put on him regard spending.

How many players are Potters going to bu? There could be a few players avaiable later today.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2012 10:49:36
Is Clint Dempsey actually happeninh? This would be an outstanding signing

Believable0 Unbelievable9

31 Aug 2012 09:36:05
Charlie Adam at Stoke, Carroll at West Ham, etc etc
No mention of Villa

So far one according to Middlesborough over rated player, where are we, we need good recognised players or we are relegated we don't have time to nurture babies

Believable1 Unbelievable5

31 Aug 2012 09:29:44
Aston villa line up after hopefully a day of lots of ins and two outs(warnock and hutton)

Given
Lowton,Vlaar,Dunne/Clark,Bennet
Nzogbia,El Ahmadi,Agbonlahor/Albrighton
Ireland,Benayoun
Bent,Bentete

With this side there will surely be no chance of relegation and a definite mid table finish.
Hopefully deals for stephens and another defender go through!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Don't think you're aloud 12 players on the pitch!

Just heard some of the wages some Sunderland players are on- their going to be in the same mess as we are, when MON leaves

Believable1 Unbelievable2

All of our players are paid within our rigid wage cap. Contrary to reports on Johnson we didn't break our wage structure for him. I believe city paid him a lump sum which made up for his cut in wages. Also do you honestly think pl managers negotiate the fees and wages. Of course they don't-that is the job of the chairman and director of football. The manager simply identifies the targets. If they are not looking out for the interests of the club financially then this has nothing to do with the manager. How many managers do you know who have any knowledge of accounts and balance sheets? Blaming O'Neil is simply an easy option because he is no longer at the club. Same as Sunderland fans blaming Bent for some of our poor showings.

Agree3 Disagree0

Very good that mate

Not a rumour! But I think we need 2/3 new faces, a striker and 2 defenders, I would love to see Benteke arrive as he looks an awesome talent plus would like to see a new centre half such as Dawson or Ogbonna and a right back as I'm not entirely convinced by Lowton (too inexperienced), a possibility could be Matthews from Celtic. Finally a cheeky punt for Ince or Phillips from Blackpool would provide the much needed chances for Bent and Benteke (hopefully).

Believable2 Unbelievable1

You obviously haven't watched Lowton play for Villa, excellent first touch, gets up and down the pitch and has a fair turn of speed. This guy will turn out to be a good signing and he is certainly head and shoulders above a certain Scottish international. Benteke would be a good addition even though he is inexperienced at this level as are Ince & Phillips

VILLAS LINE UP WHEN THE WINDOW SHUTS
----------------------GIVEN-------------------------

LOWTON----VLAAR----BAKER--------BENNETT/LICHAJ

--------EL AHMADI---IRELAND/DELPH/HERD/CLARK----

N'ZOGBIA/HOLMAN--------GABBY/ALBRIGHTON/BANNAN

----------------------------BENTEKE----------------
------------------BENT------------------------------

IN PAUL LAMBERT WE TRUST BUILD A TEAM OUT OF PLAYERS WHO WILL PLAY THROUGH THEIR SKIN.

AND ON THAT NOTE PLEASE PLAY BAKER WITH VLAAR HE'S MORE SOLID AT THE BACK THAN CLARK AND CLARK HAS AN EYE FOR GOAL INSTEAD OF JUST LONG BALLING IT TO BENT

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Players who will play through their skin? Ireland & N'Zogbia certainly have a lot to prove in that department!!!!

Agree3 Disagree2

That line up is too attacking for the premiership.... ireland could not play alongside el ahmadi in the middle if we have 2 attacking wingers and 2 forwards in the team

Agree1 Disagree2

30 Aug 2012 08:27:45
I honestly don't understand why we aren't going in for Berbatov. Fulham are looking like favourites for him at the moment after he rejected both Juve and Fiorentina! Surely if we want to progress we have to be competing with the likes of Fulham, I know that Lerner is being tight on wages and what not, but we need another big player in a team of youngsters! He would get goals and assists for fun aswell! Realistically though we will buy the young lad from Chesterfield and that will be it for the rest of the window.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Berba seems to play for himself. He can score amazing goals and has fantastic skill but sometimes he is jusy lazy. WE ahve too many of these players at VP.

Agree1 Disagree2

Perhaps the £5m a year pay deal was part of the reason we didn't go for Berbatov

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Aug 2012 08:18:39
Im hoping that Spurs get Loic Remy. Might free up Defoe. If we could get him and Adam then I think Id be more than happy {Ed001's Note - speaking of Adam, the lads on the player profile site have just put one together on him, though I personally don't think he will move to Villa. http://player-profiles.co.uk/charlie-adam.php you never know though, but he would prefer to stay in the north west.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

30 Aug 2012 07:46:26
Don't know much about Bennett and even less about Bowery but guess they in time will fit into PL's ethos and playing style.

The issue is that we do not have time on our hands, we're blooding wholesale youngsters into the team and boys v Men never see a consistent result for the former.

What we need and hope to god we get it is a catalyst, a big name that will ignite some positivity around the place, call it a quick fix if you like.

I know it's early doors but we are already playing catch up, our youngsters confidence is on the down side and we urgently need a pick up.

If we continue with our current run it will only get harder.

Randy splash the cash get a marque signing in and lets get behind Lamberts revolution !

Who do you think could be our catalyst ?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Dempsey?

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Aug 2012 21:43:58
Hi ed why can villa go get Scott Sinclair now it's not happening with man city he'd be a class signing for the villa and young just what pl is buying right now have you heard of any big name players coming to villa {Ed001's Note - because he wants to go to City.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

He wants City so his misses can go home and we'll then start seeing her in Corrie and photoshoots again

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Aug 2012 11:45:31
Well no marque signing,no ambition, linked with poor players who are reluctant to sign and trust in the manager and board falling fast just another poor season on store for us villa fans but we are all used to it by now

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Vlaar is our major coup and INTERNATIONAL centre back for 3m shrewd business

El Ahmadi looks good also

and theres this Benteke supposdly coming in

So calm yourself down so we've had a few poor games the players are bedding in.
Do we trust Lambert to build a team that will play through their skins for the club...YES.
Do we think it will happen overnight..NO.
Do we believe we'll be a force again now were under Lambert....YES
Can Lamert guide us to a 10-13 finish...YES
Will there be highs and lows...Yes

But one things for sure
VILLA TILL WE DIE
VILLA TILL WE DIE
WE KNOW WE ARE
WE'RE SURE WE ARE
WE'RE VILLA TILL WE DIE!!

I really hope so looks quality and has said he wants 2 play in the premier league.
Heard that he has gone on strike afta genk rejected r offer hope we go bk in for him,wud prefer him over doyle he scores more goals but then again any new faces would b gd UTV

28 Aug 2012 14:37:59
Everton fan here, you guys really need a shake up! I dont know how this happened to you but its not going to go away overnight. But i cant see Lambert pulling it off. He has reached his peak and its time for a McLeish-like slide to unemployment!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Yeah, thanks for that.
Why don't you just enjoy the football your own club is playing rather than enjoy someone else's misery ?
In other words, grow up

Agree2 Disagree0

Amazing Toffee, one good result against Villa and now you are offering advice. Good luck to you for this season but get back to your own page, or are you so sad that you spend all your time going through other club sites?

Agree1 Disagree0

You Villa fans are so tetchy!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm just happy that you see beating Villa as such an achievement mate
It's flattering

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2012 09:04:44
Lambert should never have become manager! He was good at Norwich because they had players without ego's, not like Ireland, Bent, Agbonlahor and Dunne! He wont be able to control them and wont last the season! I might go support Walsall, better prospects there....

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Please go and support Walsall we don't want persons like you supporting us we support villa win lose or draw you must have a bigger ego than those you mention if you think we need people like you at v.p

Agree7 Disagree1

Yes you might aswell !

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to see you manage this team mate. Lambert is one of the best managers in the league. Given time he will work wonders for villa

Agree1 Disagree1

Bloody hell, I heard there was one but I thought it was just a myth.
A Blues fan that can write!
Mendax

Agree2 Disagree1

I think he has a valid point. But Walsall? Really...... We did need a big name manager, Lambert is not yet proven.

4 Days left. Get in:

-Ince/Phillips
-Rose/Olsson
-Keane/Chamakh (Loan)

This will give us everything that wasnt there from the everton game. UTV

Believable0 Unbelievable3

27 Aug 2012 17:37:32
right, so paul lambert says he cantjust wave a magic wand, thats fair enough but have been putting the squad there paces for the last 3 or 4 months or so, why are our midfield running around like headless chickens defenders dont defendand strikers dont strike, you dont a wand to explain to them what you want and what they sould be doing PAUL , your starting to sould like the previous muppet playing the blame game, your signings have been poor no quailty at all,LOOK what frees and loans you have missed DAWSON HUNT LUKAKU SCHARNER ANDY JOHNSON DANNY MURPHY OWEN HARGREAVES KALOU SAHA,WE went for none of the above and to me thats a joke im not saying these are great players but on frees some would have braught experiance and a bit more quality and cost NOTING

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Its because Lambert is a joke, he took all the credit at Norwich although it was their level headed, hard working Cheif Exec. who has the brain behind the operation!

Agree2 Disagree3

27 Aug 2012 17:37:05
Joey Barton being given a free transfer by QPR. But is he worth a punt with his disciplinary record.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

I'd rather see us relegated than see that odious little toerag in a Villa shirt.

It is not so much as who we can bring in to strengthen the team but who we can get rid of quickly. 1) Faulkner 2) Lerner are both surplus to requirements.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2012 08:42:21
i.m convinced o,neil has won the euro lottery, he seems to want to buy every blinking player going. sunderland to do a leeds the way hes going

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Many years ago Sunderland did exactly the same and spent £000's on players. That would represent many £m's at todays prices. They were given the title bank of England club. What happened, nothing! Had some greta players but achieved F all. Same as today much spent, will it happen?

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't think so, mr short knows how to run a business! Don't forget mr Lerner gave us 24 mill for that money grabber bent! Jealous maybe?

Agree2 Disagree1

We've spent but we av sold bent gyan Henderson totalling 51 million brought in 2 frees Saha n culler 24 mill on Johnson n fletcher good buisness , if I was u I would worry about your own team and the fact bent will prob jump ship lol

Agree1 Disagree1

Bent was a panic buy. The money offered was OTT and Lerner knew that but it was the only way to get the player.Similar to the 35m The Puddles paid for Carroll, 20m for Downing. When you in the swamp trying to find a willing player and the Alligators are biting your arse it is difficult to remember why you were in the swamp in the first place. DONT PANIC MR LAMBERT!

Agree1 Disagree1

Sunderland have spent less on transfers than they have brought in from selling players. 4 players came in and 4 went out this summer. 2 of whom were free agents.

Agree0 Disagree1

26 Aug 2012 23:53:14
Personally just from what i've seen and what i wouldn't say no too i believe randy will cough up some cash and we could possibly end up with...

Cresswell/Olsson/Bennett

Huddlestone (on loan due to gardner injury)

Brahimi or Tom Ince

Andy Carroll.

If we got these 4 we would be alot stronger. before you say no to huddlestone and say we need a centre back lambert has said that he regards herd as a centre back also. I don't think we will end up with brahimi it would just be nice to see also i'd prefer olsson as we know what he is capable of and he can do the prem. Andy Carroll is as much as you dislike him. you know he will add something different to our attack also with albrighton and gabby to come back.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bennett? As in Ryan Bennett? As in the man who said he was never going to abandon Norwich like Lambert did and knows he is better off at Norwich. Or are you talking about Julien Bennett? He is about as good a player who would actually want to join the sinking ship that is Aston Villa!! Enjoy your last season in the Prem!

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2012 20:53:59
Villa need nothing else but wingers we missed a big opportunity in jarvis and its hard to think what options are out there personally i think tom ince is a massive shout he took ipswich apart on his own and that sort of creativity would be ideal our problem really would be holloway after his comments when we went for adam i doubt he would be swayed by PF as he is a nipple PL on the other hand could sweet talk a deal

26 Aug 2012 11:03:01
Anyone think relegation may be a good thing?

We'll lose our top player - Bent

But, we will also be able to get rid of all the over payed, average players - Ireland, N'zogbia, Hutton, Warnock, etc.

Have time to adjust to Lambert's tactics.

Give more playing time to our youngsters

So then we will, hopefully, get back into the prem with low wages - meaning we can sign a good few players - players able to play the managers tactics.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

No relegation would be a disaster. we certainly would not bounce back, the championsship is too strong for us we would get bullied in every game.

Agree2 Disagree0

You have a small club mentality mate
The answer to our woes is not going to be relegation. Who says we would come straight back up ?
It's tantamount to saying saying that playing Russian Roulette can cure your headache
Mendax

Agree1 Disagree0

I remember AVFC dropping like a stone to the old Div 3 in the late 60's when it was thought that they would take Div 2 by storm. Dropping down and rebuiling is no guarantee of coming back up. money must be spent now to keep AVFC in the prem. Chapionship is no place to go!!

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Aug 2012 09:49:40
From Yesterday's performance:
The answer to Villa's Centre back problems are NOT Clark and Vlaar its Baker and Vlaar the moment Baker moved to centre back at 3-0 down and Clark sent off our defense became solid and deploy Clark in centre mid with EL Ahmadi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2012 07:17:41
lets re-sign Heskey!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Do u mean lets resign ourselves to Ivanhoe? He would probably turn us down. Seriously I know what you mean, no one else is coming in!!!!

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2012 07:05:15
give pl a chance he's got a squad of rejects and we've gotta realise that.bent nzogbia need rockets neither run or contribute to the team come bk Gabby at least he looks like he wants to play and wear the shirt.come on pl sign Adam from Liverpool and ince and Phillip's from blackpool.we need delivery in the final third. Use the youngsters as back up don't play full team of them we need some creativity bent won't score without service fact! He's lazy same as if we got Carroll they need service which means we need width and quality passer's i think Adam and the Arab would be wicked playing behind Ireland with two wingers need a centre half of quality to partner Vlaar. Like carvalho. And I'd give the captaincy to given or Adam. End of rant but there's only 5 day's left so hope you've got summat planned Mr Lambert. Else we will be playin blues next season

Believable0 Unbelievable1

26 Aug 2012 01:04:02
Right, It is obvious signings need to be made for us to be competitive at all and with a "supposed" mystery signing that we have made we had better hope its the start, bring in people like joe cole and tom huddlestone cause at least there is more creativity than the team today

Believable0 Unbelievable1

25 Aug 2012 23:58:20
This needs to be sorted out before its too late and two defeats turn into 5-6 on the run. new faces are a must that's obvious for all to see, the likes of baker aren't good enough....at the moment, fingers crossed on some quality deals in the next few days. might aswell try and bring reo coker back on the free cant fault his work rate. utv

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2012 19:22:57
Well, after watching the Everton game where do we go from here...the transfers that PL needed should have been tied up before August and then spent pre-season bedding in...Its just ridiculous to hear Sunderland spending £25m on Johnson and Fletcher...its time for Randy to dig deep to improve the squad as what is the cost of losing prem status - £100m?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The cost of premiership survival this year is not £100m. Thanks to the new Sky deal its over £200m. If we were to go down and, by some fluke, we could come straight back up imagine the disadvantage we would be at and the amount we would have to spend to put together a team capable of competing. Simply answer, spend now, don't risk finishing in the bottom three and take the money next season we the new tv deal kicks in

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2012 17:04:22
At least by playing poorly, maybe a few signings will happen now...
But we were dominated by a better side. Hopefully next week, we can get our first point! UTV

given a massive footballing lesson from everton today. same old crap from us an't got a clue, lambert must be taking lessons from macliesh, because nothing changed at all. the drop looks certain

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2012 15:48:40
45 minutes of the new home campaign gone...
oh dear we are in BIG trouble, perhaps the tickets for games in the championship will be cheaper

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2012 07:39:26
Lambert must bring in a striker or we are in serious trouble we had £24m to spend we spent 8m on Vlaar lowton and el Ahmadi where has the other 16m gone ??

Believable2 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2012 01:22:20
good business by villa! gardener injured so we send jean makoun II out on loan ... wooooop

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Excellent. Makoun was unable to cope with the prem. Why did Houllier ever buy him?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2012 23:00:09
The best scenario for all concerned was to bag transfers early on, especially after the earlier furry of purchases. It has now gone dead. We have a great Manager who has great potential and early signs were that he had a plan; it is clear that we have to get rid of high earning players.

But surely that should not stop us !, come on we could be on a crest of greatness, we are a force !, spend some money, not a lot get some lads that will fight for our cause... Get em' in and we will follow em'

Faulkner out.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2012 22:20:18
This may surprise most of you, but Villa will play well & honourable in defeat to Everton 2mro, However this may be a blessing in disguise as it will make CRYSTAL CLEAR exactly what we {RL,PF} have to accomplish before 11pm next Friday,

A Marquee signing plus 2. Marco Reus/Sofiana Feghoui type players would be awesome....this is just a clue as to what type of level we will need to compete, look at the Laudrupt,Stoke,WHam,Swansea, Could we currently even envisage beating any of these team? last Saturdays result is the answer! In Villa we trust. that emans you to RL/PF

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2012 20:53:30
what was i said about o'neil if we don't move fast enough he'll sign all he can get his hands on, first fletcher now adam johnston. sunderland at least showing ambition mr lerner

Believable4 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2012 20:32:26
Another target gone to Sunderland. I wonder if PL will ever buy another player???

Believable3 Unbelievable0

12-14 million for Fletcher and you are disappointed we "missed out" ?
It was that kind of ludicrous spending on average players by a hugely overrated, kick and rush manager that got us in the state we are in now
For chrissake !
Mendax

Agree5 Disagree1

You will be eating those words when johnston sets up fletcher to score the winner against us.

Agree1 Disagree1

For pity sake.
The barometer of whether Fletcher is a good buy or not won't be whether he can score against Villa !
A lot of players are going to be able to do that by the look of it
Fletcher is another that will be added to the O'neill list of shocking buys....Davies, Harewood, Salifou, Warnock,Reo-Coker ...the list goes on.
Johnson could be great but you have to wonder why City didn't fancy him?
He could turn out to be another Stephen Ireland
Mendax

Agree1 Disagree0

I think you'll find that Mancini said that he would like Johnson to stay but understood his desire to leave. I notice when you quote O'Neils bad signings you omit his success stories. Every manager has signings that don't work out. As for Fletchers price. He scored 12 goals and cost 12 mill. Bent scored 24 and cost 24million-judging by that we're paying for strikers at exactly the same rate as Villa. 1million per goal scored.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2012 17:47:45
I think its going to be 1-1 tomo.

Hopefully this will spur a couple of signings over the next week, it'l be evident that tomorrow we still desperately need a left back too!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2012 15:18:03
Is it me or do u reckon lambert is playing scapegoat just like mcleish did for lerners lack of enthusiasm and interest. He came out in the press and said we are still looking but wont sign defoe. Now to me that spells that he isnt being given any more money.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2012 14:46:04
I believe that Lerner will wait until January before he opens his purse. He wants to see if Lambert can do anything with the current players. If by some miracle we are in the middle of the table, then nothing will be done. If we are in the upper level he will sell players, but if we are down the bottom as we all expect then he will blame Lambert give him a few miserable quid and tell him he has to improve. Even deadly Doug was better than these cowboys!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2012 12:04:30
Does anyone else think we should get julio cesar

24 Aug 2012 08:45:54
Was Savage right when he said we are Contenders? (for the drop) are at the very least a narrow escape, this is what most fans are concerned with as 9days to go and club are yet to prove him wrong by making their 2012/2013 season intentions clear by showing ambition
The Trust in Pl/PF/RL is deminishing as the deadline day draws close. Rumour RL is planning to sell before Jan is now sounding more true.

Some Villa Fans say be positive, have faith, I say actions speak louder than words. Every Pundit knows PL is a good manager but Villa need depth, a Marquee young Vibrant CF that can link up with midfield go past players two footed and generally make things happen, some quality and power in midfield that will allow us to compete and not be bullied off the ball (delph/bannan- little men with average quality that will not fair well against the likes of Stoke/Everton etc... who have big aggressive players)

Defoe/Berbatov/Benayoum links show a clear desperate lack of ambition, I hope our new head scount Michael plays a trump card before friday.

Forget puuting rumours on here (although I love em) not 1 has come true, our hopes are always dashed as other teams are make the decent buys, look at Laudrup the value being spent is nothing £2-3 mill but the quality he has brought in is clear to see.

Apart from Phillips who we need and would be ideal for our club, we nned to look abroad for better value for money, not getting Brahimi is a sad loss. For a Marquee players who is available and was subbed last week pointing to being unsettled is SOFIANE FEGHOULI.. as for the sceptics why NOT, we tedn to get good players after their best Ginola

Believable1 Unbelievable0

You say signing Defoe and Berba lacks ambition and then say we get players after their best and we do well with them. Make your mind up!!,

Agree2 Disagree1

23 Aug 2012 17:39:29
what is wrong with the people down at villa, don't they know how to conduct transfers or are they still reading the manuel, for gods sake sign somebody anybody just get a move on, 8 days left and counting.

A cautionary note for RL & PF, 2013 see the new deal with Sky and even greater riches for the clubs in the Premier League, now is not the time to choose not to invest in the squad. Like to old saying you need to speculate to accumulate

Looks like another frustrating season ahead. What we want and what Lerner wants are at opposite ends of the spectrumSupporters want some decent football played, preferably on the floor, Lerner wants to spend F all and get success. Result of this equasion DESPAIR!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

21 Aug 2012 11:43:25
Not so much a rumor but Villa need to replace Warnock lose Hutton. and Bring in Ollson

And bring in a decent winger I.E Phillips,Ince, Zaha none of which wouldn't cost more than 5-6m

And a striker why not Rhodes he's a ball player and has a killer instinct in front of goal Huddersfield would accept 3-5m

Now i apreciate none of these are prem names but theyed do the job for villa

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Villa are picking up the dregs of other clubs. I think that we are all realising that it aint going to be an easy ride this season. It looks as if PL is either satisfied with what he has (heaven help us) or is being left at thge post when asking about players by either Lerner or other clubs. No matter what, 2012/13 is definately going to be a struggle. I am not being negative as some people like to suggest but merely realistic, it doesn't look good.

Agree1 Disagree1

Dregs of other clubs? El Ahmadi was feyenoords stalwart/pass master in midfield last season, Vlaar was their stand out defender to the point where he went to the euros with the dutch squad (I know they did no good) I'd hardly call their best def and mid dregs of a club.

claret and blue army.............claret and blue army. rome were'nt built in a day fellow fans. we lost to west ham away woopee dooo daaaa, ive just watch southampton come close away at the champions......... both promoted teams fighting from the word go, strange results from the weekend but this is football, west brom beating liverpool 3-0, swansea, fulham 5-0 wins. arsenal 0-0 at home, and all i hear and see is that some villa fans are not happy, the premier league is getting stronger every year. if it were'nt for RL taking over would we still be in this league?? everybody makes mistakes and last season was RL mistake in appointing that person, but now we have a decent manager i believe but it might take a few games and a couple more signings to get into it. theres going to be defeats, ups, downs, highs, lows but i believe it will be a much better season than last ha ha ha and pl will make villa park a fortress again with a bit of time. PL knows what he wants and only he and RL know what purse he's allowed to have. have faith. top 10 finish and maybe a good cup run would be good. claret and blue army..........

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Also the age of the squad as a whole is young, with a few more signings and a few on there way we will have a team and squad all moving in the same direction. give it time! i for 1 am very optimistic for this season !!

There were some positives from the game, we kept posession, we played the ball on the ground instead of hoofing it up the pitch like schoolboy football & the midfield were pretty solid.
Get another decent defender & a striker thats willing to run and make space & we should be ok.
How do you think QPR, Tottenham, Norwich or Liverpool fans are feeling this morning?

another piss poor showing against a poor west ham side, looks like another crap season ahead, 90 mins not 1 shot on target.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Vlaar long range shot was on target made the keeper work hard to save it so get your facts right before you start slating the team you supposedly support!

Agree2 Disagree0

Ireland pee rolled one on target at the start of the second half too

Agree0 Disagree0

OK 1, fact is still a poor showing for 90 mins when the only effort is from a central defender. if your happy with that you are easy to please.

Agree0 Disagree0

Read the post above! Ireland! That makes 2, repeat TWO, we have only 1 (one) striker at the moment and hes not a target man, so it's hard to get the ball to him. Need another striker then we an play down the wings and have 2 ( two ) to aim for in the box. Repetition of number spelt out is to make this post readable for those that seem to be innumerate (can't count), or just plain simple (simple).

i can see another hard season of floating around the bottom comeing again,All the teams around use have baught some good players,we have in 4 average players,i hope to see defoe and adam johnson and clint dempsey come in,it wouldnt break the bank, get rid of hutton, warnock,

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Why are some people being so negative just cause we haven't signed anyone for a few days? For god sake give Lambert time to build his own team.We need to get behind the team as much as we can! I'm sick of some people being so negative, get down Villa Park and support the lads!UTV

Agree6 Disagree1

They are not supporters !! villa are building slowly and profitably and if a person comes with huge wealth then we will sell if not then we will build the club up slowly and rightly!! that was the promise from day 1 and it will stay like that! WE CAN ONLY TRY !!!!!!!!

Agree2 Disagree1

How slowly do you want to build if the three teams below use last year had have picked up a couple more points we would have been building from the championship, use are talking about not signing anyone in a couple of days, these are not provening players out of the 4 of them 2 are for the futher

Agree3 Disagree2

Lerner is only interested in cheap! Poor PL will have realised by now that he has a fight on his hands to get brass out of Lerner. When the smiles and the promises dry up Paul Lambert will be on his way to pastures new.

Why is WBFC a better Proposition for Lukkaku than AVFC, Why are non biased pundits tipping Villa for relegation floaters? the answer lies in the present.

Yes we have PL but with 2days to kickoff of 2012/2013EPL season, we have no depth, no Marquee signing, 70% of the same squad, lack of backing by RL, some average buys.

I'm actually optimistic, however we definitely need a Marquee signing i'd say Feghouli, a young promising striker {Konate} a LB {Cresswell}.

And no this is not beyond us nor is it overstretching our finances, have a look what lesser sides around us are doing, the quality of players their bringing in.

We cant stand still nor can we move forward at snails pace if we expect to compete, yes we must be realistic of our current plight but also optimistic of possibilities, the players brought in I like, Vlaar for Captain even Clarke are good options to choose from, but we need more.

Some may say realistically it's a done deal for Brahimi or Phillips, but we need young vibrant power upfront that can actually go past players to play alongside Bent with wingers of equal or better quality & No it wont cost a fortune, my 1st list would cost no more than £13mil plus players still being sold and a few good youngsters like Carruthers, well be more than just fine & that's most villa fans dream of

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Not so sure those players are marquee signings. Id say more like adam johnson or defoe.

Agree0 Disagree1

I would say Vlaar is our marquee signing
and i think he'll prove how good he is out of all the signings he excited me and i think its wait and see on the rest.

We wont sign Defoe, Jones maybe with Hutton going the other way

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Villa Park is junction 6 of M6 and Bodymoor is junction 9 M42 but Baggies training ground is junction 7 M6 though!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes WBA is j1 M5 but their training ground where all medical resources and equipment is j7 M6 next to Aston Uni sports ground. Just saying! Also all playing and management staff will be at the training grounds as thats where the training happens normally you would think?

Pl has flown to Rennes to push through the transfers of s poulson and bhrami in a deal for jean makoun plus 4million

Team then will be

Given
Lowton
Vlaar
Clarke
Poulson
Nzogbia
El amadi
Ireland
Bhrami
Hollman
Bent

Believable2 Unbelievable1

2really good players both suit us and pl style of play plus we really need a winger and l/r back

I'd be happy with that I know our loan quota is empty may be after teams have selected the players for the opening games there will be a clearer picture of who is available

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2012 16:43:01
With the season fast approaching, we still have a lot of work to do in the transfer market. As I see it at present this is the players that are good enough in their respective positions for the starting line up:

____________Given
Lowton__Vlaar__Clark__XXXX
Holman_Ahmadi__Bannan__Zogbia
____________Ireland
_____________Bent

We do have good options to come in like Agbonlahor, Lichaj etc to come in. But with Agbonlahor, Dunne and Albrighton all set to miss the start of the season we need more, and we also need a left back. A centre back, left back, winger and striker could all be of use. But at least we need a left back and another winger.

AVFC#1

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That team will be in the bottom 6 at the end of the season.

Agree4 Disagree1

I would play Gary Gardner in place of Bannan

Agree1 Disagree2

14 Aug 2012 00:10:00
All these people saying "were weak upfront" "we need another striker" ect are a joke, we have an England international who is capable of giving 20 plus goals a season, we need to bulk the defense and possibly get a winger. Adam Johnson, Cresswell and another centre back will do for me.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Ok, but how many injuries has this England international had lately, and how many goals did we score with him out of the side?

Answer is, he had plenty of injuries and we scored f.... all once he was out. Dont you think its not a bad move getting another quality front man in just in case history repeats itself?

Agree5 Disagree0

And would it not be better for the wingers to have 2 strikers to aim for in the box, also better for bent to have a partner up front to a) take some pressure off the poor blokes shoulders. b) create some breathing space for bent in and around the box by taking a defender away by making runs and being marked himself. Bent is not a target man, and is outnumbered at least 4-1 in the box at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2012 16:40:33

Don't expect any more major signings, Dunne, Warnock, Hutton to be sold, 1 or 2 loan signings to replace these 3 and Herd to be used at back up CB if required with Clarke, Vlaar and Baker. Lerner still holds 30% stake in Browns and the stake he has sold is going to his family.

Gabby to be sold in Jan if he doesn't pull his finger out and improve his attitude, Lambert quick to make his mark as was fed up of Collins' drinking excapades in the US.

Looks like a mid/lower half finish for us, with an even lighter squad than last season

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Hell mate no wonder the players were not happy last season with fans like you! Write the club off why don't you?

Agree3 Disagree2

Dunne, Warnock and Hutton days at villa are numbered the first 2 enter the last year of their contracts with Hutton being told to leave PL would be mad to re-new their contracts even if he got a decent 6 months out of them

And some villa fans dont have blind faith in Gabby just cause he's a villa boy and from brum, he's best season was 13 goals this is something we need to remember some of us want strikers how will score 15-20 goals Bent is capable of this is Gaby??

Although i would keep gabby and play him on the wing as i feel he would score more cause of the frustration of being on the wing as their isn't many players that can handle his pace and he has a better cross than Albrighton and N'zogbia

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Aug 2012 10:12:36
Hope we get fletcher great striker double figures last two seasons at struggling club and a fair few at burnley just think what he could do at a mid tabled club like us. Bent and fletcher upfront perfect, most headed goals last season great on the ball too also will work endlessly. People slating him on here obviously never seen him play but when he band in goals they will eat there words typical fickel fans.

HMMM

I find this a clear sign Makoun is leaving as he couldn't speak english before and it didnt stop him playing before he went on loan

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Part of him getting the work permit last time was that he needed to learn English ,then when he went to olympiakos and his loan ran out he needed to come back.under the condition previously set he failed to learn English so hense why the is a problem ,it will go through and pl will give him every chance to prove himself
