I've seen we've been linked with Tom Carroll again I'm a big fan of his but think it could just be lazy journalism with the tim sherwood Spurs link

Anyone else a fan?

Hearing that we are in a fight with Everton for Van Dijk from Celtic, backup plan is George Friend from Boro. Expecting Ade to complete loan deal in next 48 hours especially after RW declaring he thinks he is coming, paying 50% of his 100K salary.
Gone a little quiet on the Cambiasso signing but hoping it will go through. Still think we need a good out and out winger (Townsend/ Balaise?) and a Jordan Rhodes / Charlie Austin type upfront then can use Ayew as a winger come striker

I think Sherwood has done his homework with Crespo. He has a Europa cup winners medal in his locker which is more than most of our squad. He's such an odd player to go for u less he's scouted him. Had a look at him on you tube and he looks decent. I know a 2 min selection of clips doesn't make him good but he can play anywhere along the back line which will be useful, especially with the likelihood of players like cissokho, Bennett going having already lost Vlaar, lowton and Luna. He could now also lose either senderos or baker too. It just goes to show just how many players we had in the wage list that we could lose. We've been paying millions a year for players nowhere on the first team radar. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for Van Dijk from Celtic. We've gone in from 50/1 to 6/1 to sign him. That's some money.
Sherwood also said that Ayew is perfectly suited for the premier league. Yet again more homework. I think there's more to come too. It's about time is Villa fans had some transfers to get excited about. £8/£9m players rather than £2m hopefuls. VTID

Things really hotting up now and agree villafanmike looking more promising with purchasing players between £8m -£12m!really looking forward to the start and really optimistic that villa will catch a few out with such a team change. Have been worse than predictable for last few seasons and with so many new faces could be a great early part of the season. As long as they settle in of course. Someone already mentioned feels a bit like when BFR came in with sweeping changes, Staunton, Mortimer, Atkinson, Richardson and Saunders. Of course we knew most of them already!!! Lol

I have to agree with you Mike, these players have been watched.
We have to give Timmy and the new players a chance, we are in a better place at the moment and I feel it will only get better, the guys he is buying are all capable of playing more than one position.
That has to be good surely

27 Jul 2015 21:12:32
I have to agree with you all, for the first time in a long while we are buying players and plenty of them, the quality of these players we will have to wait on to see if they suit premiership football but on paper all looks good, I feel sure that Tim would of done his homework and that many of these players have been in his mind for some time. However it may take such a lot of new faces time to gel as a team so let's not all get negative if the first few games don't go as well as planned. Having said that I for one am looking forward to the start of the season and feel like positive progress is at last being made and who knows there may be more signings to come before the close of the window. So let's get behind Tim and the squad and give them the support and time needed to turn around the fortunes of this great club for I think we may all be witnessing a new beginning.

I can still see Townsend leaving, whether its to us or another London club i'm unsure but not until end of the transfer window as spuds asking price is way too high.

He doesn't want to leave Spurs apparently happy to stat and fight for his place

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 19:23:54
I read in lots of press that he wants to fight for his place at Spurs. So Sherwoods alternative is a player called Ntep or something like that.

Loan deal is good didn't really want TS to buy out right,and if we get the best out of him as Sherwood did things looking even better,sceptical about addy with his track record but can't hurt us really having him I suppose :)

27 Jul 2015 21:19:37
I agree AVFC.jayz, I must say I'm not a great fan and feel he is past his best, however having him on loan at least means that we are not stuck with him should it turn pear shaped he may even prove all us dis-believer's wrong and become a great hit. So I guess it could be a good move only time will tell.

It's my first time writing on here, I think if it is true about being offered Borini we should take him as a better version of Weiman

Ayew officially signed! Hopefully more to follow, Crespo looks a definite. Still need a striker and a central midfielder after that in my opinion, Adebayor looks likely but as everyone else would much prefer Austin!

Well I can't say I agree with that tbh,there's obviously something there for TS to reportedly make offer,especially with the seasons signings so far,Amavi,Richards,ayew,gueye,sinclair,bunn excellent business so far potential excellent signings and we still have 5 weeks left of transfer window,I don't expect qualifying euro's but certainly can't see villa scrapping as bad like last few seasons Sherwood we trust :)

Re Irishvilla comments
How anyone can start slagging off a player they've not seen yet and know nothing about, is beyond me
It's a big old world out there football wise and just because you don't know a player, it doesn't mean he isn't any good.
I'd never heard of Luna and yes, he was poor
I'd also never heard of Azpilicueta and he is superb

I've seen a link to alen Halilovic for about £4.5 million off barca. He is a young attack minded midfielder who as also been linked to Westham. Be another good young addition if this one comes off. Thoughts guys.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath about a move to AV.}

27 Jul 2015 07:40:46
You recon he will go to westham then ed or a no go to either.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Halivic from West Ham, Sevilla and Everton. Sevilla are ideally looking for a loan to buy whilst Barcelona are likely now looking to sell.}

27 Jul 2015 09:14:04
with halilovic on the right and grealish on the left and praet in the hole then that would be a villa attacking line i'd like to see.
pity only 1 out of 3 is a reality. if Jack stays in it of course :)
