We are being linked today to avenatti a 6 ft 5 striker who plays in Italys 2nd division. 3 million quid is the price. To be honest I hope this is rubbish as for 3 million his strike rate is poor and he is unproven at lower league level let alone the premiership. If this is the type of player we going for sherwood should give helenius a crack as for the just over 1 million we paid for him he looks a far better player and would offer us more than this guy. Sure I read somewhere that Helenius had problems with homesickness and depression, so I don't really think he is ever going to be a viable option for us.
At the end of the day, his health is more important than the club he plays for. I wish him well

Yea helenius had an addiction to sleeping tablets. I hope Sherwood takes a look at him before he decides to get rid.
Probably need two strikers for next season so if we took a punt on an unknown I wouldn't be downbeat on the idea providing a proven goalscorers brought in too.

Oh right fair play then mendax. I did not know this. Just thought he was being cast aside without even ever being give a chance. Like you so well put his health comes first and happiness and I wish the guy well if he moves on. And finch I agree we do need two strikers and yes if we were to sign a proven striker a punt would be fine. What worries me is benteke goes and we sign some punt and we left with gabby a punt player and youth.

Kingvilla, I posted this rumour on the 20th of this month and nobody seemed to bother.
It was a strong link back then and it is still being mentioned now.

No problems KV, Just thought I would mention it, and not sure if anything will happen but the links seem to be strong and have not gone away yet !!!
When I first noticed this rumour I did a bit of research and it appears he is wanted by a couple of prem sides and a couple in Europe, his record however is improving he scored 13 in 39 last term so that’s 1 in 3 games.
That record although not great is better than Weimann, Agbonlahor and Delph put together.
And to note Bentekes record at 6 clubs before he came to Villa was not much better at 1 in 2.65 games.
It has to be said that sometimes people see things in people that other don’t see.
If Sherwood thinks he is worth a punt I back him 100%.

I would also sign John Guidetti on a free transfer. He is without a club, and he is a proven goalscorer. At 23 years, he would be an outstanding signing in my opinion.

{Ed007's Note - I'm a Celtic supporter and Guidetti was on fire when he first started last season but it wasn't long before he dropped off, his attitude is stinking and he has done nothing to warrant the £60k a week he's looking for. I was expecting a hungry player looking to prove a point and show what he can do, overall I was very disappointed with him.
In my opinion Guidetti will be one of those players who moves on every two years, never really settles anywhere and causes problems if he doesn't get his own way. He was over ruled on the park over taking a penalty during the League Cup final - he grabbed the ball even though he wasn't the designated taker and tried to wrestle it out the kicker's arms even after the captain stepped in, it was embarrassing to see - and after the game he headed straight up the tunnel still shouting about the penalty while his team mates celebrated on the park.
Aston Villa need to be all pulling in the same direction next season and play as a strong solid team/unit, I'm not sure Guidetti offers that or the reliability you will need. He'll say all the right words as he strives to become a fans favourite but behind the scenes it's a different story. His father is seemingly very vocal and very difficult to deal with.
Now I might be wrong but Guidetti is someone who I've kept an eye on because I thought he would be ideal for Celtic and I was delighted when he came up here on loan last summer but by the turn of the year I decided that I'd rather Celtic looked elsewhere this summer.}
