He's got all the attributes to be a top CB, I would have prefered a more experienced player ie Lescott, but okore looks the part

Am I the only person who isn't half fussed about experience? Yeah we could go and sign players good enough to get us to up the table but they won't improve, i'd much rather buy players that are nearly as good as these 'experience players' now and watch them turn into twice the player than any of these old expensive guys. Not to mention the fact that buying young and building will make us money like benteke for example (if we sell him) instead of buying old players and making a loss, like given and dunne

I am all for going with younger players and allowing Lambert and his staff to grow the team.

The issue you have is when things start going bad most fans (not me) jump on the lack of experience band wagon.

The main thing should be that players are giving there all which doesn't matter how many years you've played the game. If we lose 1-0 but have gave our all then no one can complain. Gabby will never be a world class player but will always be a Villa legend because he gives his everything all the time.

Gabby has all the potential to be a great player as he did a few years back. But due to McLeish & Houllier - he just has not developed quick enough & now not being played as a solid striker - he is spending more time adapting than perfecting.

The Baggies flattered to deceive last season and found their true level in the final weeks of the season when they lost game after game and only got a point from united because they where in the holiday mood. Think Okore will be more than a match for the Baggies and for the majority of strikers in the premiership.

The measure of each teams ability will be decided at the end of next season, at VP we are very positive, but your most valuable asset is your Manager not your players.

Gabby looks much better as a wide left player he was bossing it at the end of last year. I think he should have been in the England team the other week to be fair. I remember posting on this site last year every 1 was saying get rid of him but not me as on his day gabby is unstoppable.

With Okore definitely in the bag, and Helenius and Bacuna seemingly to follow, we still need a LB, and one stand-out signing, who is a big name i. e. Belhanda

Villa won't sign 3 wingers

Belhanda isn't a winger so I don't get why you said we won't sign 3 wingers

And Bacuna isn't a winger he's a box to box midfielder

Bacuna can play both but prefers the box to box cm position

Bacuna can play in midfield or on the wing, but I think has spend more time on the wing.

South African reports suggest Aston Villa have enquired about the availability of Kaizer Chiefs and South African number 1, Itumeleng Khune (26) who has been priced out at between R20-25million (£1. 2-7m).

Khune has impressed at international stages for his country in Confederation Cup, 2010 World Cup and recent African Cup of Nations.

With speculation of his future in doubt, many European clubs are curiously watching over his availability.

Still in Villa's sights. Khune is just a possibility, as an asking price has been set.

Khune was rumoured in South African press in April that Arsenal had been impressed in his performances in the recent AFCON. Rumours cleared, as speculation on Arsenals goalkeeper problem could result in a bid for the talented keeper.

His strengths include distribution, arial ability, punching out, quick feet and jumping.

I've knew about khune for a while now and think we should got him at an earlier stage in his career

Wouldn't this RSA keeper want first team footy? Cus I don't think I'd pick many keepers ahead of guzan, especially a keeper who doesn't play at a high level week in week out.

With all these rumours about AVFC persuing wingers I wonder how the now fully fit Albrighton feel's. Not so long ago described as future England cert.

I don't understand why we would buy another wide play.

He's not a complete wide player, he plays centre midfield for the majority of his career, with the ability to play wing (both feet) and wing full back (both sides)! great addition if you ask me! Versatility in abundance!

Yeah papers reporting he is having a medical later today.

Albrighton is not even Premier League Class. We need 4 decent wingers, Gabby, Wiemann, Tonev and Bacuna if we want to get back to where we were

After signing Tonev who can play on the wing I am surprised to see us chasing another winger (one newspaper goes as far as to say he is having a medical today!) as we had the most of our success last season without much width. Whilst Gabby and Weimann played 'wide' they in no way played as Wingers. I would be surprised if Lambert changed the set up of the team from how we finished the season.

With regards to Albrighton, he is very much in the Bannan mould for me, as in not going to cut the mustard at this level. He lacks pace and his distribution is too inconsistent which are not ideal for a wide man.

Because we haven't got a quality wide player that the club.

Bacuna has signed now. He can also play at Left Back, he is known for great crosses into the box & blistering pace. Potential for him to play in many positions.

So much for Belhanda? Shame but could never see it!

Lambert might still sign Belhanda but I doubt it now - I think if Holman leaves then Belhanda will be bought.

Guys, I hope your not expecting to much from Tonev an Bocuna, I see them as squad players in the first season coming off the bench mainly.

Im still hopeful we'll sign Belhanda but losing hope of that.

We still need a LB and I still want a CM/DM to play s long side westwood

I hope bacuna an tonev can produce like benteke an Westwood have, I am optimistic but that's not likely, so let's have some realism. because we could be setting ourselves up for disappointment
