Looks like Adama deal is close to completion.
Also strong rumours of Nicolai Boilesen from Ajax (left back?) and Dennis Praet
Don't know much about Boilesen and not sure we need another left back unless he can play on the right too?
Other 2 signings. simply awesome!!

Boilesen Is an attacking left back similar in style to amavi but nowhere near as good.
Praet is quality, unsure why nobody hasn't snapped him up already.
Adama I've got my fingers and toes crossed about! If we get this one over the line we've a real good player on our hands. Just hope the buyback clause barca will demand will be at least double what we pay for the guy.

Getting really annoyed with all of these so called experts writing Villa off before business has finished!
It's easy to sit looking in from the outside and say Villa are screwed because we have lost our spine, but when you spend some time analysing it, you can see that TS has a plan that is underway but is far from complete.
We still have over a six weeks before the window shuts!!!
GK gone - old, hardly played up until recently and massive wages. Being linked with keepers
CB gone - slow, injury prone and only had one good tournament and that was in orange. Been replaced with younger, faster, more eager guy with a point to prove.
CM gone - loan player who was useless for all but TS first 5 games and then reverted to type.
CM gone - total snake who has mugged is all off. Good riddance, don't want that sort of person at our club. Replaced with potentially better guye
CF gone - always going to happen. Sad he's gone the scousers but got good money for someone who on his day is one of the best strikers around but very inconsistent.

It's actually a very similar situation to Southhampton. So called Crown Jewels being sold off by a young enthusiastic manager and replacing them with under the radar quality!

Its just lazy journalism - we came 17th last season and have lost our two best players this window. Therefore we must be complete right offs. I can't imagine the journo's analysing our signings vs what we have sold (IMO they are all at least as good and in most cases better than the players going out), and the fact we have a new manager who improved the results dramatically over the old one. We also have money to spend off Benteke's transfer and who knows who Sherwood will go in for - its way to early to predict yet.

Hi all, first post but have been reading these pages for a good few windows now.
Actually think I am ready for Benteke to go now as I think having that money to spend is more appealing.
Would love Remy in but also be happy with Austin plus I have a really good feeling about Kozak.
Not sure what to think about a director of football being brought in, hasn't been a great success at other clubs in the prem. wonder if TS is happy with the appointment?

I disagree with you mate. As Sherwood has said himself, it's alright thinking you have all that money (from the sale of Benteke) but you try spending it .
It's surprisingly easy to fritter away even that amount of cash on poor players
Tottenham did it with £80 million !
In Benteke we have the real deal and need to try and put better players around him

I see your point Mendax and don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be upset if he stays but I do think he can be inconsistent and have a tendency to sulk if not going his way.
The players that we are being linked with (especially the British based ones) are tried and tested and would be low risk acquisitions.
Personally, I would prefer Austins constant flow of goals throughout the season to Bens more prolific, but sporadic periods.
Basically, I am happy either way! :)
P.S Really enjoy your balanced viewpoints over the last couple of seasons Mendax. And Ed, I am Glasgow based so always had a soft spot for your comments!!

Yep agree, top player on his day and if you can get him to perform consistently could be one of the best in europe.
But
He put in for a transfer request
He would of gone last season if he hadn't got injured
He gets injured
He spits the dummy when not going his way rather than trying harder
He has a tendency to go missing
Yes, he is a good player and yes we relied on him, but he is no hero and far from irreplaceable. Just read some of the scousers mixed thoughts on his arrival, what does that tell you?

Was there any cross over with TS and Berba at Spuds? Not sure there was, which makes this acquisition very strange!
We should go the whole hog and sign Balotelli too. Between the three of them, we should get a decent season out of them.as long as you play them at the right time!
