Does anyone have any other news regarding potential signings today?

Nope I think that will be it now, why did we sign another striker? that is last position we need. so disappointed we haven't even tried to get a dominating midfielder because we need one badly!

I personally think that we have bought some players with great potential but not for the right positions. we need a complete AM, a solid CB and ideally a quality holding midfielder. if only King Villa's snap, crackle and pop sources had come through!

Lambert keeps referring to Helenius as a 'different type of attacker'

From what I have seen of him he looks pretty decent on the ball. The signing as Kozak is presumably as cover for Benteke (more of a like for like?) whereas PL feels Helenius offers something a bit different and might feel he can link the play behind Benteke.

Anyway I have said on here before an AM is only useful to us at home against a handful of team and that is simply down to our defence. He has to play with 3 sitting midfielders away from home for that extra protection and then look to hurt teams on the counter attack. But we have to play the same way at home against the better clubs and the teams who will invaribly have more possession then us. Having Kiyotake (or whoever) playing in that number 10 role against Spurs @ VP (for example) would be pointless as Dembele, Paulinho and Sandro (say) would all play between him and Westie and Delph and would overrun us.

It only works aginst the Hull's, Palace's and Sunderlands of this world. Yes I think we need more creativity in the side, but honestly believe PL did not see the real benefits of spending 8m/10m+ on what he would deem a luxury player.

Agree hughes, helenius was never benteke's replacement he will never be able to play up top on his own in the same way benteke does because he's not a target man. He's brilliant with the ball at his feet so is definitely more of a second striker/centre forward/attacking mid. I think people presume that because he is 6ft3 he's a target striker but that's not the case. I think his closest comparison from what I have seen is fellaini, but a slightly more attacking version.

Hughes very well said. And above me too! Top comments! I think Helenius will play AM role, as he is, as you say the perfect Fellani double (or potentially is) and Kozak will def be up top with CB or indeed replacement for certain games! PL knows his stuff! An AM costing £8-10m would hhave been wonderful but it's a luxury that PL saw as a hit or miss!

ok please don't shoot me down as this is my first post but my wifes father lives in paris an the rumour there is that psg have made a big money offer to try an get benteke, hope this dosnt happen but I thought i'd share

Cant see Big Ben moving. he knows he will get game time at Villa which is crucial in the run up to the World Cup. especially as I believe he could end up as top premier league goalscorer this year.

Finally, he might have a good campaign with them but he's not wanted here, that might be 50 grand a week off the books, hopefully it will go through without a hitch

Great signing for them and move for him. He will show what he is capable of which, as a villa fan, will disappoint me because we never got to see it

There a race between villa, Everton and Tottenham for Tom Ince. Hopefully we can win the race.

Suspect Spurs will not be major contenders as Paul Ince stated on Saturday that his son shown only move to a club where he was guarenteed first team football to hope with his development. In my opinion, this is unlikely at Spurs. Villa would be ideal for Ince and I hope he sees that to

Ince is staying at Blackpool his contract runs out end of season and will pocket a big pay day if he performs well for his dad who are currently sitting pretty at the top of the league!

Aston Villa are are one of several Premiership teams looking to secure a deal for Cheikhou Kouyate, apparently Norwich failed with a bid already, the desired am villa fans are hoping for is still a possibility according to the Mail journos!

Would love it, been saying it all summer but can't see it as we only appear to want certain types of players to fit a system of play
