Message from the Board.

"Dear Supporters

First, on behalf of the Board, let me express my deep regret that I find myself writing this open letter to you, knowing just how much hurt and pain, anger and anguish will have been felt by you all after the Club lost its Premier League status this weekend.

Your profound sadness is shared by everyone connected with the Club and while I know that will be of little consolation in the days ahead, it should be a source of reassurance as we rebuild the foundations for future successes.

We must acknowledge that this weekend's confirmation has been the culmination of an unacceptably fractured season both on and off the pitch. That isn't down to bad luck. To make such a claim would be insulting to each and every one of you. I must add you have all displayed unyielding commitment in adversity.

While it is of little solace at present, the process of identifying the root causes of our circumstances started long ago and the focus now has to be looking forward and making sure lessons have been learnt.

The search for a new manager to provide drive, direction and immediate promotion has commenced.

Together, we share the same goal. We intend to restore Aston Villa Football Club to its rightful place. It is a journey we must make together so we can bring success, enjoyment and exciting football back to Villa Park once more.

Steve Hollis
Chairman"

My god! We finally have a man with integrity, honesty, and hopefully Aston villa as his priority, not self worth and self importants.

great message but for those who want david moyes do you really want a guy who has turned us down before? I be honest i hate the guy for what he said earlier in the season villa denyed a Blatent pen against leicester when robert huth serveral times elbowed rudy an moyes was watching in as a pundit seen it infront of him an said na no pen! why they just don't go an get pearson i don't know what is the hold up this board who only temp hav brian little on board just to appease the fans in that letter he said we are now looking for a manager surely they should of done this in the 1st place why wait so long? for me monday morning they should be anouncing a new manager so he can see the crap he has we havnt got time for him to meet an greet players in the summer he need to come in an see now then get a whole new team! This board have a long way to go to win me round i think there painting over the cracks!

18 Apr 2016 04:12:26
Press are saying moyesy now wants to wait till the summertime to see if any other jobs become available, somehow i wonder if we're just his 'back-up'position if all else doesn't pan out for him, maybe he's not for us after all?

18 Apr 2016 07:44:23
I disagree re Moyes, and think press talk is finding a story that isn't there.
I think he didn't take/get job instead of remi because of the investment promise, or lack of.

IF, and it is an if we got Moyes, it is a statement of intent.
It says we don't plan on sitting still, or recouping.

The Neanderthal says the same, sadly.

Any of these other names mentioned on here says the opposite. That we are not only prepared for life in championship, that we are excepting it, and appointing accordingly, meaning we see ourselves as a championship club, and not a premier league club, who has had a catastrophe.

What I'm saying is the obvious I guess, that the appointment says two things
1. Our future intentions
2. Where we, as a club, actually see ourselves

It might be, sadly, that the new football board see the championship as our level. Where we can compete financially and footballing. Who they go for will answer that.

18 Apr 2016 09:43:31
As your alter ego I can only agree with you Flackie. The choice of manager will also attract a certain kind of player and staff to VP. Mr potato head and captain caveman have not got the same pulling power, who would you rather play for as a player? Moyes has a far better cv than any other candidate. Discard his brief encounter at MU anyone following Fergie was doomed to fail. Moyes is top of the list for me we shouldn't settle for second best.

18 Apr 2016 09:57:44
Spot on mate

18 Apr 2016 12:15:03
Agree with you flackie and jam dog! This is villa's chance to get it right, the previous board chose to ignore the chance how many years ago when it raised its head. Would I be right in saying we have got more correspondence from the new board when it's expected than the previous board when we've been crying out for them to talk to us? But spose it all comes down to what our "wonderful club at heart" owner dictates!

18 Apr 2016 14:03:07
If moyesy says non, and we don't go for wagner (i know, i know) then what about sean dyche rather than numpty nigel, young, ambitious and worked magic at burnley.

18 Apr 2016 15:09:20
Good shout. But, is he a pull for any players?

18 Apr 2016 15:46:14
I had the same thoughts about Wagner he's done well at Huddersfield since coming in also think Grayson could do a job but then I just want to see a name other than Nigel Pearson!

18 Apr 2016 16:12:11
Me too mate, Incase you hadn't guessed!

18 Apr 2016 18:10:32
Anyone like chinese food out there.

17 Apr 2016 19:04:57
another couple of good steels would be off hannover who look like going down in Germany but have a couple of players that could be of use to us.

gk zieler former man u youth played on loan lower league here before Germany. just over a year left on his deal. market value around 6 mil but a very solid keeper let down by week players in front of him. also a attacking midfielder centre or left by the name of kiyotake. both players I feel would do well for us and add to us.

17 Apr 2016 20:20:43
Hanover have already gone down.

17 Apr 2016 20:43:18
there we go then. don't really follow them just players I've looked at.

17 Apr 2016 21:17:30
I don't think we should. We need to stop signing players from these rubbish leagues. If they've been relegated from the Bundesliga at the same time as us, I doubt they'll be very good. We need a keeper from England or someone with experience of English football who understands what the competition is like, maybe Green, Marshall or Stekelenburg?

17 Apr 2016 21:27:27
he is former man u youth and played on loan in lower leagues here. and mate the German league ain't a 2 bit league. I ain't talking sweeden or Denmark here. I don't argue the fact about players used of playing here but he's a much better keeper than any you have put forward there. and did mahrez have championship experience when he came from a small French club to the hustle of the championship. it's not rocket science like some will have you belive it's about picking the right players using them in the right way good team spirit and a bit of luck.

17 Apr 2016 21:40:53
just to add his winners meddles include European u19 champion. English league cup with man u. oh and a world cup with Germany. granted he was not the first choice keeper with Germany but hey oh the guy who has the shirt ain't bad to be fair and he also plays in that crap league you said about.

17 Apr 2016 22:15:14
2 good shouts and better than what we've got, no brainier really

UTV.

18 Apr 2016 12:32:41
Is it worth giving jed steer a go? Our player playing in the championship?

17 Apr 2016 18:52:24
Just read Mr Hollis' open letter to the fans- I agree with him. He admits that the team's performance this season aren't unlucky, but jacks***e. Good news is that he says search for manager is on.

17 Apr 2016 18:49:04
a few players I'd look to bring in if I were given job tomorrow
cb Bruno manga £3 mil cardiff
gk lindegaard £1.5 mil Preston
cf selke £ 3 mil leipzig
rm mcgeady £4 mil Sheff wed.
also bring baker Gardner Bennett steer back. keep Hutton okore Clark amavi traore Westwood grealish sinclair gestede kozak and youth. out rest of dead wood asap. thoughts guys.

17 Apr 2016 18:31:49
Right then now the calpol has worn off and i've put me toys back in the pram (there were a lot of them) and the papers' say (not me! ) we haven't even got a budget yet i think old "hand shandy"-randy will want to give as little as possible and want the next encumbent to slash and burn the squad and generate as much as they can, now we've all given our thoughts as to the next manager, so after many barley wines (if you haven't had them before, old school 'dead-head'in a bottle), i've done a bit of research and the name i put forward is properly left field, he's been managing in the championship for a few months, and already his team are starting to show signs of football on the ground, and pleasing to the eye, his reputation for bringing through the youth at his old club was judged possibly the best in europe and jurgen"clippety" klopp tried everything to get him to liverpool, and still is, oh yeah, and the top clubs in europe have marked him down as one to watch, gentlemen and gentlemenettes, i give you david wagner, manager of huddersfield town, if we've got ambition, and the balls to give him 2-3 years to put his philosophy into action (and his great knowledge of youth football in germany to grab a few bargains) i think we could have a new dynasty to enjoy, so there you go, i rest my face!

17 Apr 2016 18:45:56
Think you need more calpol, or something stronger.

17 Apr 2016 20:47:22
Maybe your right, but i think football is moving in a more technical direction (and i don't mean dancing to kraftwork), clippety klopp is part of the new bread of manager, whether it be moyesy, pearson, brucy or grayson, the first thought is always negative, how do we stop the opposition, it seems the german and now european way is put the game to bed early doors with gusto and then sit back and hit them on the break, wagner is part of the new philosophy, he was in charge of dortmund's u23's, so he helped engrain the ideals which clippety klopp then promoted and maintained in the first team, if you like i think he could be our"Wenger", pretty much unheard of here, but a proven record of success and innovation, i know it won't happen with our lacklustre board, but he will be an immence manager in a couple of years time and i just wish we had a pair to take the plunge, and not be inept, showing the bravery of a stromboni, this guy is one of the few managers out there who turned down fortunes because he wanted a project to work on, he may not get the time at huddersfield to make it happen, but he will be a massive name in world football, now back to that baby sham on ice.

17 Apr 2016 14:01:21
Jesus (ed001) make it stop!!!

I blame satan (ed007) bloody 1-0 already!!

Kill me now!!!

{Ed007's Note - Don't blame me - I've had a bad enough day as it is ;(

17 Apr 2016 18:48:15
Haha surely you're all calling for Deila's head now! Just hope you don't get Moyes instead of us.

17 Apr 2016 18:43:57
Oh yes, not a good day for your boys either.
Sorry man.

{Ed007's Note - We just need to dust ourselves down and get on with winning the league.}

17 Apr 2016 19:31:51
How's that feel?

😞

{Ed007's Note - I'm happy enough to win the league but I'd have liked a cup along with it.}

17 Apr 2016 14:49:53

17 Apr 2016 23:10:01
Lol 😜

17 Apr 2016 09:12:49
Here we are now all eagerly awaiting the new manager to be announced. There have been rumours why our shambles of a chairman has not lead the charge for an an approach and offer? Is it because no manager wants R on his CV? Could it be we are finally getting a new owner who will need to pick their own man? I have just read it is DELAYED BECAUSE RANDY LERNER hasn't YET STATED WHAT THE CHAMPIONSHIP BUDGET WILL BE! Any new manager will want to know this minor fact before considering the position. How could his family have made such a fortune when they can leave a business which is losing so much money without a key leader? GET A GRIP MR LERNER AND GET YOUR FINGER OUT AND MAKE A DECISION IN THE INTEREST OF OUR GREAT CLUB.

17 Apr 2016 09:52:58
Mate I'm so sure that's the case. I think, hope, we will see things gather pace now the inevitable has finally happened.

Let's be honest, no manager would of come with the state we got in after remi left. Why would they, history would always show they took us down.
Mr blacks record will show he was the manager that relegated villa.

As regards to budgets next year, I have no idea, but, if we have an investment given to new manager similar to last summer, meaning all money from sales of players, plus say £10m, the new guy would have a war chest similar to that of a Bournemouth, hull or burnley. Worked for them, if the guy spending it is the right guy.

I don't think we will be sold whilst we are a championship club, so it's in his interest to get back to where we belong ASAP.

I have a feeling we will have a new manager, (playing for Moyes, but believe it to be the Neanderthal!) by the Southampton game. Have no inside information, just a gut feeling.
Keep the faith mate, remember, together we suffer the bad, to fully love the good.

17 Apr 2016 10:41:51
Good post that Flackie.

17 Apr 2016 10:58:36
Get a grip mate! 😜

Thanks mate!

17 Apr 2016 08:53:22
Anyone think lescotts actions of late are to force the club to give him away, the so called villa fan wouldn't want to be seen walking away willingly as he is such a fan.

17 Apr 2016 09:18:00
Sadly I don't mate.
I thinkers it's the actions of a very wealthy? Brainless half wit, who has lived in football bubble for years, the guy is tool.

17 Apr 2016 11:35:19
Really good reply Flackie. I just thought it obvious we were down when Remi went so we could have started planning for the war chest and be Prepared lol I have my season ticket dosh ready for next season and will be there keeping the faith as I was in 87. Just missed out on those legendary div 3 days but no matter how bad it gets will be there as were my father and grandfather before both born Astonians!
