How come Derby can sign a player in 48 hours (Nugent) and we take forever?
Most of our dealings seem tied up in red tape, complications and confusion.
Some will say that the players we look at are wanted by other teams but we never appear to bid for a player that is holding down a regular place elsewhere.
Is it impossible for Aston Villa to conclude a deal simply these days?
Lansbury, Brady, Rhodes, will we see any of them?
As a unit we are ok but we need a bit extra. I am sure that SB will eventually get us the missing links but waiting is stressful!

Two of the players you mention are 1st team regulars so your argument is flawed I'm afraid, but I believe your right that it's because other clubs are after them. It's the price you pay for wanting players that are any good, other teams will want them and therefore clubs don't accept a bid straight away they sit on it waiting for someone to put a bid in too in hope of a bidding war.

I'm sure we could have signed Nugent in 48 hours. Only trouble is, we would just have signed Nugent

now its public knowledge McCormack is a busted flush, can we really keep him? He doesn't want to be here, bruce obviously never rated him, seems the swap deal involving brady is off because they want sheckles as well, but honestly, if we get 25 million for amavi from the reds, straight away brady slots in.

say we give norwich 5 million on top, that means we've got 25 million from the transfer kitty. 20 million from amavi sale and 6 million for gestede; by my reckoning that's 51 million. Now that's a war chest to buy who we want, but of course the good doctor wants at least 30 mill for amavi. someone have a word with him will they, with that 51 million we can buy whoever we want to get the job done - or is it rocket science?

It's not about the money, the £30m price tag is to scare them off, we don't need to seek to buy, we would find it difficult to spend the £51m, if we are to get where the dr wants us to be we cannot be a selling club, we have to keep our best players not sell them. He has the money to buy who ever we want already obviously fair play comes into it but with the Rudy money we apparently have £31m to spend this is plenty if we pick Lansbury up for £4m.

£27m to buy another cm, rb, st is plenty in this league

You are still in Lerner land Classof82.
We don't need to sell to buy, that seems clear
Also, regardless of funds. There is more to a transfer than having the cash. The better the player, the greater the likelihood of having competition for his signature

I don't get why everyone keeps mentioning "that's more to spend on players" "that's money in the transfer budget"

i must be missing something here, but i don't rate amavi as being a great player, he's good in patches but shocking in others, i'd take brady over him, he's going to leave us at the end of the season anyways (if he has a corker), i think brady is a better long term fit who can play other positions as well, the good doctor is giving bruce 25 million.

if money were no object he'd have let us know over twitter obviously! we sacrifice 1 player, replace him with a ready made fit, and we can go out and buy 1 or 2 top quality strikers,2 cm, another 2 top quality defenders and buy a few younger players for the future, if i'm wrong then fair enough.

Yea erm he has put on twitter about 5 times, we haven't even touched the parachute payments yet - according to the doctor, did it look like money was an issue in the summer? Not to me. Amavi has probably had 2 bad games this season, an they was the last two just after all that 25mil bid Stuff happened. Hopefully now he can concentrate he can get back at it, he has just come back from a season out aswell. As a left back Brady is nowhere near him, Brady plays left back in times of need, he is a much better left mid just watch him for Ireland.

Eddie Howe is looking to bolster his defence. Do you think he may try to get Elphick?
If he does should we let him go?
If he doesn't try to get him back we should ask why not?
The fee would be what we paid and would go towards SB's budget

I'd let him go an try and get someone in on loan
