Looks like we may miss out on Pau Torres, Bayern Munich had an interest but that was based on them selling Lucas Fernandez, if they kept him they would not pursue a deal for Torres. Well it appears they have agreed a fee with PSG for Hernandez services. Whilst I am sure Torres has a positive relationship with Emery will that be enough to persuade him to turn his back on CL football and a club the size of Bayern? I doubt it. I think we may well fall foul of this when it comes to our targets, if CL clubs are interested we are likely to miss out more times than not, firstly Asensio and now Torres.

We are going for unrealistic targets. While I admire their ambition we are not in the Champions League we are better off going for Harvey Barnes James Madison get the both for 80 million I actually like Laporte aswel.

I don’t believe we have even tried to get Torres yet lotm, he’s being linked since Emery joined just like every player Emery ever managed, 3 players joined since Emery took over and to my knowledge Emery never managed any of them.
Most of our transfers we hear talk of for a couple of days max before they sign, a lot of times we hear nothing at all, for me personally I think the longer these links are going on the less likely that there is any truth in them, our budget is another thing, we don’t spend half of the amount that gets touted around the tabloids and number of signings is also hugely exaggerated, I think we are in for a lot of surprises in relation to who we buy, how many we buy and how much we spend, personally I think we bring in 2 or 3 more this summer and another 1 or 2 in January if we are still in Europe at that point.

Pau Torres is an outstanding CB, if we land him it would maybe be the biggest coup in the clubs history - I don't think we are out of the race yet but it does look highly unlikely that we'll sign him if Bayern are genuinely interested. The only factor I can see being in Villa's favour (beyond the relationship with Emery) is the fact that Bayern still have De Ligt and Upamecano at CB and are close to signing Kim Min-jae from Napoli apparently, he'd be the star man at Villa but another number and not necessarily guaranteed minutes at Bayern. Clutching at straws I think, it would be very hard to turn down Bayern if they are genuinely interested, expect us to miss out on this one but I really impressed we are having a go! i'd rather aim for the stars and have to peel back our targets then think "nah we have no chance, let's go with Harry Maguire"!

I see where you are coming from Whack and we were linked with pretty much the Villarreal first team squad, Pina, Jackson, Chukuwueze to name but three but while those names and rumours have withered away, the link with Torres has stayed strong and I think of all the Villarreal players we have been linked with he is the one he really wants.Having seen a bit of him he seems a decent player with a good left foot and I think he wants a left footer to compete with Mings. I don’t think it’s the end of the world if we don’t get him I just hope we don’t end up with Maguire.

Seems a lot of money for a player to challenge mings, if rumours are true, you would imagine he would replace mings in the starting 11 unless we go with 3 cb’s. he would be a real coup no doubt, the next 2-3 weeks will tell us a lot, we need to be patient even though it go’s against our nature ?
