Hi I've been reading posts on this forum for a while now. Like you all I'm frustrated and disgusted at the way things have degenerated over recent years. Via Facebooks official page I sent the following. Dear Mr Learner, and Executive Board Members Of Aston Villa Football Club. Nice to see Villa were outstanding again today, looks like most of the players are saving themselves for next seasons championship relegation fight, I witnessed probably the worst team Villa have ever had in the 70's and we ended up in the old division 3, but boy this team is far worse, and to be fair its not the players or the Managers fault, many of them were brought into the club by so called executives who obviously do not understand how to build a team, Why employ a manager if he has very little choice on who is brought into the club, you're literally building a house of cards, and waiting for the wind to blow. Well Mr Learner there's a hurricane a blowing and now there's nowhere to hide. (Oh sorry there must be somewhere to hide because that's exactly what you've done) . Back your manager let him do his job, negotiate with his wishes, but put your faith in the person you employed to put some pride back into our Club. Do you realise every manager that you've actually employed has failed ask yourself why? The only time a manager under you're reign actually achieved the little success we've enjoyed in recent years joined the same time as you did and I wonder how much influence you had in that appointment. I might not agree with all of Mr O'Neil's signings, and maybe see you're frustration at the money that was spent during his reign for little to no return. But to employ subsequent Managers with a "keep the cost down" culture, seems to have got us to the position we find ourselves in at present. To Mr Hollis I say this, you are correct that success is not guaranteed by spending considerable amounts of money, but like any business investment, it is a necessary evil to remain competitive, which I'm afraid is not the case with Aston Villa at this moment in time. I'm not saying we need to spend millions to buy players, we need to invest to form a squad of players that the manager can work with. I'm sure Mr Garde knows more about football and how he wants to play better than anyone on the board, So let him do his job if he has your trust, if not employ someone you do trust. I'm sure Mr Garde would feel the same. Does anyone in the higher echelons of Aston Villa expect the manager to work with whatever is put in front of him, this is a Football Club not the Gas Board. I've been a supporter of this club for 50 years, but my patience is now wearing a little thin and felt that I need to get this off my chest. I implore all concerned to consider the consequences of bad investment when running a Football Club. I think its now time to keep the supporters informed of long term plans that will ensure the stability and how the Club intends to go forward from this moment in time, because without us you might as well all join the Gas Board. Regards. What's the chance of a reply a lol.
Apologies for the long first post.
