Definitely a game of two half's yesterday and if I'm being honest it wouldn't have been unjust if Leeds had got a point, earlier in the season we wouldn't have won that game, it's amazing the difference a little confidence makes to a team and it's a good sign that we can get results away when not playing at our best.

On a separate point, I think Harvey Elliott must be rueing the day he signed for us as he couldn't even make the match day squad. I think he has a greater chance of breaking into Liverpool's starting XI than at Villa which I have to say I don't understand because the lads a very talented footballer but in Unai we trust.

Lord regarding Elliot I did see a post on here recently regarding the UEFA financials running until December. As we have a £35m buy clause after 10 games the theory/rumours is that us having to pay that fee this side of the year with our current psr standings that this is the reason why he isn't featuring as much.

Again it was just a theory/rumour but Elliot may well be aware of this and could start featuring more in December and new year?

I can't remember who posted it but it was explained far better than I have managed to lol

I think too much stock is being placed into the 10 game rumour.
We were expecting to sell Buendia (or at least unsure of how he would fit back in) . We also had Barkley, Onana and Tielemans either injured or trying to ditch the booze.
We tried for Pacqueta but were outpriced and then panicked and bought in Elliott.
With everyone else coming back in there isn't really a space for him.
I don't really see what he brings to the table at this time. I'd describe him as a poor man's Buendia, small, not particularly fast, reasonably skillful.

Where he falls short is his positioning, decision making and complete lack of defensive effort.
Outside of that very lucky goal I've seen nothing out of him. We have enough 10s and he's never playing ahead of Mcginn or Guessand on the right due to the defensive issues.
The deal just doesn't work for either party right now, we are stacked up front with different options who are starting to get back to form. Elliott wants regular starts which means he should be going back to the likes of Fulham or Brighton.

At the risk of being pilloried, if you gave me a choice between Buendia and Elliott I’d take Elliott simply because he is younger, isn’t as injury prone will have a greater sell on value and given how Emery improves players I think he is the better long term option.

Added to that Emery sees him as a no 10 he could be a long term replacement for Rogers who I fear we will have for this season then he moves on.

I understand where you're coming from but a couple of points in response.
The ACL injury aside, Buendia isn't injury prone. Konsa, Cash and Kamara all pick up injuries more often.
Buendia is only 28, he still has a few years left and costs us nothing in amortisation compared to Elliott costing more than £7m a year for up to 5 years.
I'm seeing Elliott as the next Wilson or Smith Rowe, flashes of quality but cannot be relied on to be a major cog in the long term.

Financially, we need Champions League now and not later. The top tier money far outweighs selling Harvey for £50m in a few years. I don't think he will ever get close to being a £100m player like a Rogers or Palmer might.
