Has anyone else read that Benteke is Liverpools number 1 transfer target according to Ray Houghton? Then why sign the three players before hand including a striker by the name of Danny Ings??

Because their entire strike force scored 8 goals last season in the league.
Sturridge = 4
Lambert = 2
Balotelli = 1
Borini = 1

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any views on the fact that VMF has closed? Wasn't a project of Lerners or is it just coincidence?

Not really. Huddleston's injured and is staying put. Who knows about the French left back. I would've pushed harder for Austin or Vardy. We need goals! Like the signing of Richards though!

I understand your frustration villa1980, believe me I do! I think at the moment though there will be a bit of a fire sale on for at least another five members of our current squad. TS wants to mould the squad to his perception of what we need to compete for top ten to start with. Getting rid of big wage earners and underperforming players is what we need. We have gone too long without a true identity of how we should actually play and with TS we have an idea. He obviously wants a solid back four as the majority of links with the club have been defensive players such as the completed Richards deal. He will more than likely only add a couple of midfielders/attackers as going forward with Delph playing more advanced produces goals. keep your chin up and I'm certain 2015/16 is the year the sleeping giant opens his eyes!

Very articulate Mendax and your post re-iterates the fact that despite the need to bring our youth players through we still need a quality back bone to the team. cup games and other opportunities are the way forward for players like Gardner. As much as I would like to see him progress, I'm just not so sure about his potential. Does anyone else feel that our youth academy has gone off the boil a little bit?

Thought I'd chip in with my two pence worth. like it's been said we haven't seen enough of Gardner to say whether he would be a success or not. I would rather see us bring in a proven midfielder that will help us not be in situations like we have been and then introduce Gardner over the course of the season, similar to Grealish. And let's be honest, other players are hardly going to come and and say " oh yeah don't play him because he's shite" now are they?

Yeah I agree with that last point Andy regarding wages. so bent, Weimann and Lowton are all gone. who do you think is next??
19 Jun 2015 17:33:20
Possibly. if only we had someone in the know who knew what was going on. where's KingVilla when you need him??
